Screen protector - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Accessories

Seeing as I screwed up the one that came with the TP2, can anyone recommend an alternative?

I just ordered an Exim SPUC one from ebay, £6 with free delivery, always had Exim, never had any problems

been using Brando Antiglare (blue packaging) protectors for years. got one on my TP2 as well.

Also been using Brando Antiglare protectors on my HD. It's the best for me...

Can you guys comment on the change to sensitivity of the touch screen?
Does one have to press stronger with the protector installed?
More misses with the protector? Loss of sensitivity?

Seeing it in the sun will be a real plus for me on the TP2...can a few of you tp2 owners comment if it was with or without a screen protector? Which way was best for the screen clarity?

i a cheap set of 2 from ebay and it dousnt look like the maked had even seen the phone before, it even covers the buttons witch arnt flush lol, anyway i complained and he said that a few people had complaind and there manufacturor was going to make new ones so hopefully they get it right this time

Got a brando anti-glare yesterday (had one many years ago on my SE P900) and while it's a good quality protector, I find the matte texture disperses the colour on the screen, making it look "wet".
For an example of how it looks, smear a wet finger across your screen and notice the colour distortion. That's what I get from the brando anti-glare. It also had a slight crease in it out of the packet, meaning that there is a perpetual air bubble underneath the crease that I cannot smooth out.
Better than the stock one for quality, but a couple of niggles.
I have an EXiM SPUC and a brando ultra-clear on order - hope one of these will be better.

I got this as well, went on really easy, much better than the stock one. Quarintus recommended using a credit card to eliminate bubbles ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520946 ). -Is there nothing that Visa and Maestro can't do?

Yeah I know about using a credit card to get rid of bubbles. The problem is in the area of the crease it sits slightly above the surface of the screen, meaning that air gets underneath it. Only way I could get around it is to try and bend the crease out, but I reckon I'd cause more damage that way!

This one is nice.

thats the same seller i got my protector from that looked nothing like the phone lol, he said hes getting new ones made though and will have them by this week some time.

Hi, im new to this just ordered my TP2 can any1 comment on how good the screen protector is which is supplied with the phone and if its worth buying a better one??

I found the one in the box to be very flimsy and not resistant to scratches at all.
Sure it protects the screen, but it will look very ugly after a very short amount of time.

Agreed, well worth changing it when you measure the cost of the protector against the cost of the phone

Does anyone have the same problem with this phone that I had with my Diamonds screen protectors, which was the protector peeling off when I put the phone in my pocket?
I had to cut all of the corners off the protector, and the 3-5mm off the top to stop it happening

its paypall, so you dont have to pay it

can any1 confirm this if its any good, worth buying or not??

Screen Protector - advice sought on choosing one.

I've just ordered an MDA Vario and it's going to take a little time to reach me (I'm not currently in the UK). Before it gets here I'm trying to work out which screen protector to buy. Has anyone tried the Invisible Shield protector? The material looks superb and I've read load of good things about their performance on iPods.
My current PDA is a Tungsten T3 and I have a Martin Fields screen protector on it. (MF protector for Wizard here).
I love the MF but am really interested in hearing experiences with the IS if anyone on these forums has tried it.
Yeah i want one too but was wondering, do they leave any marks when you peel them off afterwards? From the glue and stuff?
Quality screen protectors like Martin Fields and the IS should leave nothing behind after they're removed.
I think brando screen protector is not bad too. Im currently using it.
I have change 2 screen protector since I got my wizard.
- Expansys, Cant fit in properly. Bubble occur after stick in.
i've tried 3 different screen protectors, then i used pocketpctechs AG shield and i'm not gonna try anything else. It's perfect, reusable, no glue is used and installation is pretty simple. also it comes with screen cleaners and all that. highly recommended
For me brando's would be ok. I usually have the store person do the application since I can't do it on my own [I messed up 2 protectors when I tried doing it at home]. I'd say choose one that isn't adhesive but static that way no residue is left on the screen when you remove it. also most of them are washable/reusable... if you find a scratch on the side you use most often [i.e. the area along the SIP] just have it removed and re-installed reversed [not the face but the top and bottom].
The Brando ultraclear is OK. If you prefer a non-glossy one, the Brando regular is perfect (you will lose a bit of brightness).
I like www.boxwave.com 's version
They have a anti-glare, and a regular one, they are washable you can remove them and wash them under soap and water and reapply, they come with cloth cleaner, and a little scraper thing that helps get the bubbles out.
Here's a super cheap solution, and it works GREAT for me.
I went to Staples and bought a package of baseball card protector pages that are designed to fit into a 3-ring binder. The size of each card holder is just slightly larger than the screen on the MDA.
What I did was take a straight edge and X-Acto knife and cut a small piece of plastic that is a couple millimeters larger than the screen on each side. I simply tuck the plastic I've trimmed under the lip between the device and screen, and it holds in place just fine.
No adhesive, no mess, easy as pie, and the entire package of plastic sleeves was less than 3 bucks. It will surely last longer than the life of the device.
- Justin
Got my second Brando regular protector (first one wasn't returned when my magician was replaced). Fits perfect, very scratch-resistant & the anti-glare is very useful while navigating in the car.
Cheers, M

Same here.. I have used BoxWave, wich are also very good, but WriteShields from pocketpctechs are great.
I also had an "InvivibleShield" on my 8125 for a couple minutes. I installed it and saw that it was not plum on, so I went to take it off and reinstall.. When I removed it I thought I was going to pull my screen up with the protector. Stay away from those things... I then tested those claims they make on the website, about being indestructible. Pens had no trouble getting through, and scissors went through like soft butter.
$.02
I bought a boxwave and was not happy with the glare free one. I have used them on my Treos and liked them, but the one that came for my wizard sucked. It really blurred the screen and made it look like a prism. Maybe it was defective, but I ended up buying another one from javoedge and I am quite happy with it.
just my $.02
greg
I also got an anti-glare from boxware, it does have issues however I emailed them about it and they are getting a new one that doesn't have the issues and they should have it in about a week. To make it even better they created a gift order for the new one for me.
I've tried a number of the commercial screen protectors in the past and wasn't happy with any of them. Of course, there is the ridiculous cost for a little piece of plastic.
The best solution I have found is to use clear vinyl sheeting that you can find at any fabric store, typically for a couple of dollars US per yard. Just cut to fit your screen, clean your screen, wash your hands and vinyl rectangle with liquid hand soap, shake off as much water as possible (but not all), and attach and smooth out bubbles.
Benefits:
- Minimal screen image degradation as compared to many commercial screen protectors
- No adhesives to gunk up the screen
- Lasts 6 months or so
- Easy to replace
- Costs about a nickle per cover
I also have the pocketpctechs write shield anti-glare.
Comes in a nice kit, can't tell its there when the screen is on.

I bought mine from www.nushield.com, but I haven´t been able to apply the first one to my screen.
I´ve used them on my Handspring Visor Edge and on my Himalaya with very good results, but on the Wizard, I just can´t get it installed. Will keep you posted!

Brando screen protector, Boxwave and Martin Fields are my favorites!
I've heard a lot about this Brando, but it is a bit too expensive for me for a piece of plastic. I think they are selling for GBP7+ in eBay. I wonder, is it so good? I've been looking for those 'card' type screen protector that is ultra easy to apply and bubble free because the protector itself feels like a card. Imagine, since the protector is like a card, it is impossible to get bubble under it. Anyone know where in the net I can get one card type for UK??
BTW, I've bought the 'Sensifilm' protector from eBay. It said many things, but of the two thing, antiglare and antiscractch is 100% bluff. Mine still give me glare and it has been scratched like mad with my stylus. Either the HTC is very bad in designing a stylus, or the screen protector is terribly weak. I think the weak protector is a more likely answer.
30$ for a screen protector. That is so silly. I got a protector for my psp for 6$ and it works great. Geez, pocketpctechs is a rip.
Cant i get some from a local store instead?
I can highly recommend Brando UltraClear too! Easy to attach, not visible when attached carefully, no reduction of brightness - display looks like without one (for those who do not like the reflection of the display: buy the Brando classic).
Regards
Carsten

Screen Protector?

Thought i'd be the first with a which screen protector thread!
Brando do one
Expansys do one
has anyone used either on any device? I don't like the ones that dull the screen by giving a matt like appearance. Does the Brando do this? - I can't remember if it was a brando I used on my p800 that did this but things may have improved since then.
Any suggestions appreciated
thanks
I've used Brado since my SE P800, which the was the old "fuzzy" version. This came off when he introduced the "Ultra Clear" protector. Have one on it's way to fit on my new TyTN. Been using it for my Qtek S100and 2020 as well...love it
Brando Workshop
I'm using the standard K-Jam protector from www.shieldzone.com
You can bang on it with your keys, and you still can't scratch it...
using the brando ultra clear on mine. Its great and virtually not visible. However, it only covers the "screen area" of the today screen. i.e. the part that is displayed and not the entire visible area of the screen. This way, you can still trap dust on the edges which are also not protected. I've heard good things about the exim ultra clear protectors but don't know if it covers the entire screen or just the visible area.
But does the standard K-Jam protector from www.shieldzone.com fit the Hermes? It comes with 16 pieces which cover body and keyboard I think...
Got it for my Zen Vision M and it is fantastic!!! Initially when you apply the film there are small bubbles but they all! go by the next day.
So as long as K-Jam and Hermes are similar sizes... its fine!
Looking at screen protectors the best one according to reviews is the PPC Tech WriteSHIELD???
Ive found it on expansys.co.uk here but am unsure which to go for, crystal clear or anti-glare?!
Any thoughts people?
You may want to check out the JavoEdge screen protector. These things last for ever and they go on easly and quickly. They are non stick, washable removable and re-applyable. They have the antiglare and the ultra clear for the TyTN.
I've been using the JavoEdge protectors for the last year, they are about $10 a pop but well worth it.
On a side note, the ultra clear are very clear... you don't notice the protector at all, but they show every little fingure print. I think I'm going to go back to the antiglare becuase of the fingure prints and the ultra clear make it hard to view outside with reflections.

The K-Jam and Hermes have identically sized screens, so the screen shield will fit. The rest of the kit will not.
Incidentally, I've removed my shield... I just didn't like the "feel" of it. If someone has a suggestion for a screen protector that not only is invisible but also "feels" invisible, I'd like to know about it...

Try the JavoEdge Ultra Clear. You can't see it or feel it. But be warned with the ultra clear it will show every single fingure print and smug just as if there was nothing on the screen and you will be wipping your screen constantly. The antiglare has a rough textture to it but it also hides all the little fingure prints.
I had the antiglare on my JasJar and loved it. When I ordered one for my TyTN i didn't relize I ordered the ultra clear. The screen is very beautiful since you don't see the protector but man I must wipe down my screen 5-10 times a day now. I'm going to try the antiglare on the TyTN to see how I like it, but the down side is now that i see how nice the screen is with the ultra clear I may not be able to handle the antiglare.
The JavoEdge screen protectors have been by far the best I've ever used. My last one was on my Jasjar for about a year (I sold my JasJar when I got the TyTN and it still had the same protector) and it still never showed any scratches or lines from using the stylus.
Here is a link to the TyTN screen protectors

Anyone know if this would fit the MDA Vario II?
Brando
Hi I have a question about the Brando screen protectors, what do people mean when they say it does not cover the whole screen? does it only cover a portion of it? or does it cover all of the screen?
thanks,
Mike
A few weeks ago i orded some boxwave clear protectors. all four corners where bended and cracked( two protectors). It seems boxwave has a bad batch, because have read others story's about corners that doesn't stick on the screen ( bended).
I did send them back and waiting for RMA.
The boxwave ones where for my Dell Axim X51v.
On my TyTN i use Brando anti glare protectors and i'm very happy with them, they fit perfect and easy to apply.
So i orded brando's crystal clears for my Dell and TyTN. Yesterday i placed them on both devices and they are also like the anti glare ones, just perfect.
high quality, the correct size( fit the whole screen without a spot unprotected) and are very clear. I don't notice them on my screen.
A big diference with the anti glare ones.
I don't say that boxwaves are less in quality, but with my brando's i didn't had any issues.
I use PPCTechs AntiGlare (AG) Write shield. A bit expensive but very good.
I use EXIM SPUC screen protector on my tytn/jasjam.
ultra clear glass like finish, not the anti-glare version, but this is my personal choice. EXIM also have AG version as well.
Here is a review of the one im using

What does "Washable" really mean? Take it off, run it under water, let it dry and reapply? For some reason, I don't think it will work.

I just got a few different screen protectors from http://www.bestskinsever.com/servlet/the-11/T-dsh-Mobile-MDA--fdsh--Cingular/Detail a few weeks ago.
I have had several different manufactures of screen protectors befor this one. All of the other screen protectors were easily scratched. And, if you ever got any liquid on them, they would haze up. So, you ended up replacing them very often (which was why the usually come in a 12 pack )
However, the screen protector from Best Skins I haven't gotten a single scratch that I couldn't get out with a micro-fiber cloth. During a vacation recently (where the 8525 was the GPS), I had several times when I got a little sunscreen or lotion transfer from my fingertip to the screen. With the old screen protectors, that would be it. They would smudge and streak, and I'd have to replace them. With this new "washable" screen, a little water (or let's face it--spit ) on the micro-fiber cloth and it was good as new.
So, that's what I think they mean by washable. I don't think mine could survive being pulled off. But, I don't think I'm going to have to any time soon.

Best Screen Protector

Just got the TP2 and looking for the best screen protector. What do you think is the best and why?
I rather like the one it comes with.
If it didn't have that, I probably would have gone with another Martin Fields aka OverlayPlus. They served all my Treos well. The Mogul one was a little disappointing, but I'm hoping it was just a bad run.
huge thread here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520544
im using and like the dcmugen ones (ebay seller name , dcmugen88 )
just looked from when i posted on here 6 weeks ago , its still in real good condition , only has a few light scratches
Yea I saw the thread, wanted more to get a poll than anything.
Boxwave Crystal Clear is my favorite. Also the Martin Fields. Both not on your list.

+ 1 installed the one from HTC (with the shower steam method) and it was my first ever perfect (no bubbles, hair lines etc) application... been on for 6 weeks and still looks great
Waiting for Wrapsol...saw a YouTube comparison between this and the Zaag...very impressed as it appears to be thinner and virtually a smooth/clean fit....Wrapsol told me they should have one for the VZW TP2 this week.

If I put on a protector that is NOT anti-glare, does it cause it to have more glare in the sun? Because Id rather have more transparency then anti-glare.
the HTC default one do get scratch up rather easily compare to other SP
I've tried a bunch of screen protectors, and my favourite one is the Martin Fields one.
The only problem is that because it is an edge-to-edge screen, I've peeled each and everyone of those screen protectors off, while getting it out of my pocket on the plane. They need to give us more leg room!
Btw, the TP2 is perfect for plane flights =) Beats the on-flight entertainment anyday.
Looking to get a new screen protector and case now >.<
I've tried InvisibleShield and BestSkinsEver...
So far I've used BSE for almost every device I have and they're the best to me.
Waiting on my BSE in the mail that I ordered a few days ago.
The SP that the phone comes with is CRAP!

If you put on BSE (BestSkinsEver) right you can hardly notice that it's their. NO SMUDGES on the screen after a call from your cheeks (BB 8900)! VERY LIGHT finger prints on the screen after scrolling or whatever. (iPod Touch).
Most importantly no dirt around the edges after a while. You know how sometimes you would start seeing dirt or whatever around the edges when using a screen protector.

Yes, I was told they had an issue with that and my order had a delay. I should receive it this week.
I'm using the ClearProtector Extended kit. This is the second phone I've used one on. Once on correctly they're very protective and can't be scratched. They're also completely clear. The trick is doing it right, which isn't as hard as it seems, especially if you do it in a room with no dust, such as a bathroom after running the shower to take any dust out of the air.
oy, I can't even make a decision because someone keeps throwing out another brand.
Bodyguards!Bodyguards!Bodyguards! No fingerprints, clear as no screen protector, and way better control over touch! Yes it actually is more precise with Bodyguards on and its just as smooth as without a screen protector! Plus you get to cover your whole phone! Tip: once you install it will look ugly with lots of bubbles- squegee them out with the included card as best you can but within a day every little bubble will be gone. I tried to clean it because I thought it was dirt but luckily they include two sets. There's also a lifetime replacement with $4.95 shipping. By far the best purchase I'VE MADE - the total body coverage makes the phone glossy and sleek.
do the bodyguardz look visible or feel weird (such that you have many different pieces)??
oh no you don't feel it at all. If you do it perfectly there will be no gaps. The covers are stretchable though if you pull hard enough and on a couple corners I did overlap because I kept stretching it but its not noticeable at all. The phone feels a lot better to handle, no longer that cheap plasticky feeling.I love the screen, it feels smooth but there is just enough resistance that it doesn't slip. I finger it a lot with the screen off - it just feels nice to touch lol and I like watching people stare at me when I scratch at it with my nail when Im bored in class or church lol.

How about checking the Skinomi thread in this very first page of this section ?
I just orderded some screen protectors from ebay hong kong. 11.99 for 3. ill let you know how they work.
Good Screen Protector
Ordered one from Amazon made by Aurum(do a search). It came quickly and I am very happy with it, wished I waited a few days, they have a deal going on with it.
It says its made from Japanese PET, in my experience it is better than those "military" strength ones like Zagg etc(bad evo 4g experience). This one has a dry application and protected on both top and bottom by covers (a protector for the protector). Ships from the US.
I have the Skinomi. I'm happy with it, but it does not appear to help with glare or screen angles (though, honestly, I only used it for a few minutes before installing the protector).

Go with the Skinomi one. It's cheap (relatively if you consider lifetime free replacement) and if you don't botch the installation it looks fantastic. And... you don't have to wait three weeks for something to come from China.
Don't get me wrong, I buy stuff from China sometimes but only when I can't get it here or if it's a lot more money to get it from here.
Anyone have recommendations for screen protectors? Looking for helping with anti glare and no finger prints on it. Any info would be great. Thank for all the feedback so far.

Do you mean this one ? according to the user image its not custom made (no holes for the camer/sensors) not sure if it would even cover the bezel + the screen.

The Skinomi one requires a WET application, that then has to dry, do you really want to spray some liquid on your new g-tab? I tried this on my Evo installation was a pain but then my fingers got stuck scrolling, so I learned my lesson and stick to the PET material which has a silicone coating for smooth movement
Aurum Screen Protector
You are right, I have the Aurum one from Amazon on my G-tablet, and there are no holes, but I do not see a difference in camera performance. The protector covers bezel to bezel. I've used the camera with and without the protector, all I know is that it is as grainy before as it was after the Aurum screen protector. I do not use the camera(I really do not need anyone getting scared looking at me) so it's fine by me, it the smoothness of movement that matters.
just my $0.02, but why not use the one by Zagg....?..

Thanks for the info, Traderny. Would you say that the Aurum screen protector allows for smoother gliding movements than the unprotected GTab screen? I'm hoping to find something that provides a nice swipe feel. Too often my fingers would "stick" to the naked screen or (less so, but still) the Skinomi protector.
My .2 cents

The Skinomi one requires a WET application, that then has to dry, do you really want to spray some liquid on your new g-tab? I tried this on my Evo installation was a pain but then my fingers got stuck scrolling, so I learned my lesson and stick to the PET material which has a silicone coating for smooth movement

Wet application screen protectors have been around for a while and it has been shown to not be an issue if you follow the directions on installation. There are thousands of people that have used wet installation screen protectors here in the gTab forums that have reported no residual issues with the gTab during/after application.
Also, you don't spray liquid on the gTab, rather you're supposed to spray the liquid on both sides of the screen protector before application and dab up the excess liquid as you work it to the edges with the provided plastic card.
I've used both PET and this style of screen protectors on devices before and I prefer this over the PET as I have found the PET style protectors to be too shiny for my tastes.
Among the most helpful reviews for the PET protector on Amazon there are these comments:
1.) Good product, but a pain to put on. Just the slightest piece of dust will cause an air bubble.
2.) According to the packaging, this item is "Finger print free" and "Bubble free application". I experienced both. I would NEVER purchase this product again or recommend it.
Just goes to show you that people will find something to complain about no matter what the product is.
Protectors Protect
My experience with screen protectors on cell phones is that they are only good to protect the screen from damage. All of them will show fingerprints, smudges, grease and oil. This is esp. true with a touch screen. it's like wearing glasses you got to clean them alot. So save time money and headache by putting a microfiber cloth in the bag with your Gtab.
I went with the Exim anti-glare screen protectors, but did have to wait for shipping from China. I bought a complete skinomi skin set, and promptly botched the wet application of the screen protector, but since I wanted the anti-glare it just meant a week wait for the Chinese Air Mail which I had already ordered.
Overall I like the Exim, it was easy to install without any bubbles, though you might want to trim the corners a bit as its a very tight fit. I ended up cutting them off after applying it because I had the screen on perfectly without a single dust mote making a raised area. I don't mind a poorly cut corner, but do wish I had just done a quick trimming beforehand as I wasn't perfectly centered.
2 for $12.99... Was worth the wait.
Hey Naieve,
does it really help with the anti glare issue? Also does it have any issues with the touch screen interface? Is the screen protector to thick that it doesnt detect your finger movement on the screen? Any help on the finger print issues haha?
It helps some with the glare, definitely diffuses the light, but it looks more like a compromise in between a clear protector and some of the very heavy anti-glare screen protectors I've seen. I like it because of this actually. As to issues with the touch screen, I spent some time googling before buying, and while I forget where I read it the fact is there is no difference while using this protector. Even a light touch still works just fine. I wonder if that is the reason this AG protector diffuses less light, as I have heard of some AG protectors being too thick and screwing up touch. It does still show fingeprints, but its not that bad and is easy to clean. Definitely less noticeable than just the screen itself.

Do you mean this one ? according to the user image its not custom made (no holes for the camer/sensors) not sure if it would even cover the bezel + the screen.

I said I would update once my Aurum arrived. Like others have mentioned, there is no cutout for the camera or sensor - I don't know what effect that has nor do I really care. I never use the camera anyway.
The protector itself fits perfectly on the screen - it is so perfect that I had trouble aligning it properly and i would get halfway done installing it and notice it was running off the side of the screen slightly.
It took a few minutes to install because I did want it to be perfect. Now that it is installed I am really happy with it. My fingers slide better across the screen and there are far less fingerprints. I am happy with my purchase.

any screen protectors out?

anyone? all i can find online is

Quite a number available on eBay. Not sure if they are any good, as I don't use screen protectors myself.
Plenty. I'm using Momax and I found a light scratch on the screen protector only after a week. Glad that I have the screen protector installed. I think it gives you peace of mind especially when you do not use the folder type jacket that can protect the screen. I dislike the folder type and have only the PVC back jacket protecting the back and side. It's thin and make the device still holdable.
U can get the Skinomi screen protector from Amazon. Very high quality and is a wet aplication. Helps a lot to ensure it gets in position.

I saw that too. Do you recommend it?
It's a whole lot pricier than the Empire on Amazon.
I got the cheap ones off ebay and they are horrible. Couldnt get the bubble out.
I ordered the Brando ones and I am waiting to see how those are.
I ended up ordering the Empire one off Amazon.

They'll do for me until a matte one comes along.

Ah yes. Def can recommend it. I always struggle to apply screen protectors. Maybe im just clumsy dont know. But I love the ability of the Skinomi to be re positioned once applied. The moisture you see after the application disappears fully after about a day.
I had a Skinomi screen protector on my old Viewsonic g-tab (eww), and it was pretty slick. If you take the time to apply it per their instructions it will be virtually undetectable with no bubbles.

I dont use any wet apply screen protectors anymore after i tried them once and screwed my phone up - water got into the phone.
Dry ones: With careful application (there is a good video on youtube) the dry ones go on perfectly. And for the price you pay for them on ebay ie $3 buy a couple and if you screw one up have another go. Its really not that hard.
I got both a low priced matte and glossy screen protector (same OEM make). I don't recommend anyone use a matte SP. It gives a dotted rainbow effect to the screen, making it terrible for viewing the AMOLED+ screen.
The glossy one is OK. I'm competent at applying SP's so didn't have any issues with bubbles/dust. Can't notice the SP is there and viewing angles/brightness doesn't seem to be diminished at all.
Just got the Brando ones today.
They are excellent. Really great quality and super crystal clear. Cant even tell its on. They are a little pricey but well worth it I think.
Shipping from Hong Kong to NY took about 10 days.

I got the ADQC27.....perfect fit, and no rainbow effect.
Glossy....almost feels like the Tab's glass in terms of feel but fingerprint doesn't come off as easy as it is non oleophobic.
They ship REALLY FAST which is a huge plus........
brando not bad on my desire G7
Free screen protector, but to my suprise quality not bad, pics added
