Proporta flip-top leather case - Touch Diamond2, Pure Accessories

Did anyone get this case? I'd like to hear some impressions - i.e. is it too thick, build quality etc.
thanks

I bought Proporta's Aluminium Lined Leather Case (Flip-top) with USD 21.21 (15% discount with promotion code : josh15) few days ago and will receive it within 2 weeks.
someone said "don't get the aluminium cases, they zap signal strength, and possibly makes GPS go a bit wonky. I tried it and regreted it on my old Diamond. Imagine how bad it can be on the D2?" at other forum.
Don't know it is true or not, but a bit regret after read this
I will let you know after I receive the case......

Thanks for the code, and thanks for the tips!
Will be waiting for your full impressions.

The quality is good yet a little bulky. Would have preferred the slightly thinner noreve leather case to the proporta, however the price is almost double with noreve. Otherwise the proporta case says what it does, and I haven't noticed any problem with calling/receiving/signal/GPS.
Here's the norever one for comparison
http://www.noreve.com/category/Smar...HTC_T5353_-_HTC_Touch_Diamond2_Tradition.html

I just received my Proporta's Aluminium Lined Leather Case (Flip-top) today.
hmm... I agree with HippoYT that the quality of this proporta case is good but a little bulky. Anyway, after using it for half day, I am quite happy with it

Damn impulsiveness

This is an excellent review cheers mate. I got used to the bulkiness however being a little paranoid as the sides are still prone to scatches. Anyway, a happy owner of proporta case.

i just ordered one of these for my soon to arrive TD2

This case doesn't protect the sides of the device... I have a weak heart

Any issuses with GPS and/or reception due to the aluminium lining..
Quite interested in getting but would like to hear if you have such issues ... thanks again. Cheers

hey guys, got this case a few days ago:
Great quality, nice leather and stichting, no frays or anything liek that.
havnt noticed any signal drop for anything. perfect.
secure and will deff protect the phone.
all round, GREAT case for the money, i would say this is the best value and smoothest (very ez to pocket it in a jacket) around.

Hallo,
Can anybody tell me, if this case have any kind of belt clip? May be removable?
On the pictures providet here i can't see why the device dont slide down, out of the case. Can you take a photo of the bottomside and one of the beltclip of this case please?
Thank you & By

I got the case, and I must say it's great. It's really recommended, and the customer service is superb. A must buy for ones considering a case.
About a belt clip - no, there is none.

the device is held very firmly from the friction that exist between phone and the little arms. over time it weakens if you remove phone from case often, but you can just squeeze them closer together to fix

ooohhh...that looks tempting...
i have that in clear and smoke... both are nice... only problem is sometimes junk in my pocket gets stuck under the case... but you can pop it off real quick and clean it...
nice looking!
Dammit. I wish I had one of those before I dropped my phone so many times
Those look nice but...
Do they afford any protection. I have been thinking about one of those Innopocket Metal case, but those cases look a lot nicer. Anybody have any saves with those cases???

If anyone has tried these, please review.
Thanks.
i bought the one listed above. it's okay, still is a bit bulky.. fitment is descent.. feels a little lose. i might just buy a new oem faceplate instead
you mean the rubberized one? does it fall off? does it provide protection?
the oem faceplate seems like just a replacement for the original housing?
what would be the point? to save the original for resale?

Please give a review I am considering this one too.
WOW...It will be very nice to be a bier for my dead herald.
Black, rubberized version, came same week, 10 bucks shipped, best case I ever seen snaps right on, skin close, thin, looks awsome, as if it was part of the design, NO TMOBILE LOGO!!!, no interfereance with opening the keyboard and a small difference with access to side buttons like camera, etc,. still comfortable, and in my opinion good for preventing accidental pressing...
Just too bad the invisible shield didn't come on time for my relative to bring it here... Then I would feel all around protected with the best there is.
Upgrade to Touch Flow 2.3 (Thanks to Itje!) bricked twice, stuck on Tmobile screen. Reason was expected since Vista is known to brick. The link to Modaco didn't have any possitive effect. Successful upgrade from my XP machine, first try.
The only issue now is that sometimes it is found to be turned off when I don't remember turning it off, usually when I take it out of my pocket.
And when I try to set up Windows Live Mail it just goes to home screen, which sucks since I want Live Mail on it. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I overclocked to 247 and Skype mobile works great. Just took a while to find the 2.2 Low CPU version... http://www.skype.com/download/skype/mobile/21beta.html It says needs 400 mhz, but worked fine without overclock...
Was surprised that Battery Status program was in the WIndows folder and no shortcuts... How are shortcuts made anyway?
In general very happy with the machine!
Any suggestions appreciated...

Avoid the metal cases. Had one for a few months for my Wing, signal strength is knocked down (with associated drop in battery life since the cell radio has to work harder, 25% reduction in battery life for me!), Bluetooth range drops to only about 5 feet before static creeps in, etc.
The protection is good with the metal cases, but you pay a high price in performance for the protection.
Black rubberized case in Tmobile holster?
Those of you who got the Black Rubberized Case, is the case thick enough to protect the protruding Green/Red call buttons from being pressed when they're in the OEM Tmobile holster? Pictures on ebay don't show the sideways view, so I can't tell how thick they are. thanks

What about a Case/Cover for TP2?

All the HTC devices I've had (XDA. XDAII, Universal, Athena, Touch Cruise) have been capable of being used safely and snugly in good leather (usually Piel Frama), but none these had a slide out KB
I've seen the Kaiser clip-in solutions on the web, but I would like something with 'Bounceability'.
Any words of comfort out there?

LOL. I have been looking at those too. I thought they might get scratched as well and ending up looking a bit rough. And the cost isn't exactly cheap right? Also, do you think a clip on will work for the slide out keyboard?
^yes, a clip on would work great! I've been using a Seidio clip for my Hermes (which has a keyboard). It's one of the best for ease of use & very good device protection!

Thanks for the tip, I will look into this and see if it will work when the TP2 comes out. I am sure there will be a few nice cases when they start dispatching the TP2. Which hopefully will be very soon.
It comes with a case in the retail box. It is more a pouch, the TP2 slide in from the side.

Mine does. The problem is that you have to take the device out to use it, including answering calls or charging, maybe someone with the steady hand of a brain surgeon would be happy to do this on a daily basis, but I'd prefer to have my expensive toy safely and snugly enveloped in fine leather for all day to day use.
Agree, it should be covered like a baby all the time!

Well that's certainly true - it looks good. But it lacks a belt clip, so I don't think I'll use it that often. I don't think the case (or pouch, more like) will fit in my pants pocket and I'm sure as hell not going to carry along a purse for my phone
The Krusell thing looks nice, but it's rather expensive and I don't want to be having the thing encased forever. Just a simple pouch like the one supplied will do, but I would definately like one with a clip. Worked well for my P4350Herald, which is in prime condition after more then 2 years of use.
And also: I noticed there's no keychain attachment possible on the Rhodium. Bummer =( It saved my Herald once from being stolen out of my hands on a trainstation
Yeah I like the case that comes with the box, but as someone has pointed out, you have to take it out whenever you want to use it. It's fine at home or inside a building. But if you are walking on the road / tram / bus, it can be quite annoying
Piel Frama ( http://www.pielframa.com ) say they will have a case for the TP2 in about 15 days

Can you get full use while it's still in the case (charging, volume control, etc.)? the Piel Frama one let you use the keyboard in the case as well. I've ordered one on the basis that the extra price over another type will count as insurance

Finally found an ideal pouch for the Hero

After trying several cases/pouches including the official C300 leather case (too bulky) and a cheapo faux leather pouch that marked the white casing of the phone I have finally found this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-GENUINE-L...ches?hash=item3ca4b454a3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Its a pretty tight fit but you can yank the tab to pull the phone out.
Dammit I spoke too soon. It stained the Hero orange!
I've ordered a gel/silicone case now.

I have been in search of a good case too, and I think I'm going to go with a foof pouch from Foof Shop. Another user of these forums got it and said it fits perfectly in an iPhone/iTouch size. Just a suggestion for you, if you like the style.
It's a shame my favorite company, Switcheasy, is staying Apple only
Waiting for beyzacases myself - their diamond one was superb.
I'm using a large Luna pouch by Krusell. Paid about £12 for it on a buy it now from ebay and would happily recommend.
It's a good quality soft leather case and while it wasn't purpose built for the hero, it is as you can see a pretty snug fit

I can lightly hold case upside and gently shake without the hero falling out, but at the same time I don't need to wrestle the case to remove the phone. Only downside was the quality control sticker left a sticky mark on the leather when I peeled it off (which washed away with a little liquid soap).
Wish I had a black Hero. The white one gets marked without trying.
I might get my girlfriend to make me one of these:

MF recommends the Extra Large, for the Hero, but you mentioned only the Large.
Looking at the sizes there's only a few mm in it; I really don't want another pouch that the phone falls out of though
thanks again...
Foof is Ideal
I recommended the foof case, and the more I read with problems with other cases the more I'm glad I use this one. The interior is white fleece absolutely no chance of staining and great protection for the device. I've still heard all my notification sounds through the case and the black and white patterned cloth looks great. Its also washable.
thanks; I love the foof cases: I was going to get one for my MBP, but my wife made me something very similar herself, just as good (or better .
Which foof case exactly did you get for the Hero? How snug a fit is it?
thanks again.

I got a "Golla" case from the Carphone Warhouse, it's a nicely padded thing, never had one before only £9.99 - bargain
I got one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/WHITE-Gel-Ru...Q5fMobilePhonesCasesPouchesQQsalenotsupported
It fits really well and is cheap as hell. It also makes it large enough (and increases the drag coefficient enough) so that it feels secure in my old G1 pouch.

Here is THE case

Remember that magenta case that the Pure was shown in at Engadget before its release? It's a thin, rubberized plastic case.

http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-SILICONE-...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item45efad84eb
Thanks, 'bout time they got this out. I already wasted $20 on e-bay ordering one from Japan but for Topaz, not Pure.
Here's the shots, basically you have rubberized plastic for $14.99 or hard plastic and silicone for $12.99.
I have the silicon case that a lot of people sell on ebay. It's pretty good, but it's thick, and it tends to snag when you slide it into your pocket. Plus, the bottom buttons are not that easy to access because the silicon case is so thick. You have to point your finger at the buttons directly or it's difficult to press talk/end/back/windows.
I also have one of the snap together covers, which just arrived from eBay about two days ago. I don't know if these are all made from the same manufacturer, but the snap together cover that I got (made with the rubberized plastic that everybody advertises and sounds like such a great idea) is pretty much crap.
The inner part of the cover is not even painted black, which means you can see white through the side cutouts when it's installed on the phone. I kept this on my phone for all of three minutes. It's not even worth the few dollars I paid for it. Again, I don't know if there are multiple manufacturers, but the one I got is really really poor quality.
I would like to try the single back cover that the OP linked at the top of this thread. I haven't tried one of those yet.
thanks guys for reviewing and commenting.
as you all, I'm also sick of wasting precious $$ on all sort of promises and nice pictures.
so, can we say the final verdict is on the one part case? (as posted in the first post)

I agree. I'm sick of wasting money on junk. I didn't mention in my above post that I also bought an HTC OEM neoprene pouch that fits my Pure perfectly and that I got for about $5 on eBay. So I've been using that when I go jogging and don't want the Pure to be flipping around in my pocket.
The next best thing I like is the silicon case, which is just a little bit builky but has a great hand feel to it and fits really well. It's also completely impervious to fingerprints. The only drawback here is the button-pressing and the snagging as you push it into your pocket.
I suppose the ideal case would be the one mentioned in the first post, if it's well made and you use a clearprotector for the top of the Pure (which I do use). I think I might wait until the price comes down on these from $14.95 to something more reasonable, given my experience with the other "rubberized" junk case that's now sitting in the trash.

Anyone have this case?

I have this one I think. Again with no brand name. But I can say that it is a perfectly adequate case for using it on your desk/table however it has a loose fit which when you try to put it in your pocket it wants to come off. Given the price I can't really complain.
thats why they are they have the word cheap in their name lol

Thanks that helps. I don't want one that is going to try and come off. I found some other cheap ones on Amazon.
I bought a couple from Amazon from the company BoxWave, they're pretty high quality and fit well, have raised edges and come in a few different colors.
http://www.amazon.com/BoxWave-Samsu...3M2K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329855698&sr=8-1
Couple of questions on the Boxwave unit...
Any chance it will work with a cradle type charging unit? If so, which cradle is recommended?
I am looking at the Hyperion unit and it looks like it might actually work.
I cannot post links yet, but Amazon and "Hyperion galaxy note" should get the job done.
Next question is rather odd...I want to be able to set my phone in a cradle in landscape so the connector will not work (obviously). So is there a cradle that will allow the Boxwave unit to remain in place, AND hold the Note in landscape? I do not care about charging in this configuration, as I will just run a cable to my USB port on my PC or charger.
Thanks in advance
Mike

I definitely suggest TPU cases. You can get them every bit as cheap, provide similar protection, and will slide in and out of your pocket when you want it to, and will stay there when you don't. Also, due to the snug fit, I have found they allow much less dirt to get inside the case compared to silicone cases, stuf keeping your device scratch free.
I remember that I had a silicone case for my first iPod, a 30gb video, and I was highly disappointed when dust and dirt had scratched the back of my device. Silicone cases don't do much except make your phone grippy. they may defend well against drops, but TPU is just as good and doesn't allow your device to get nearly as dirty/scratched.
Ignore this post.

I bought a couple from Amazon from the company BoxWave, they're pretty high quality and fit well, have raised edges and come in a few different colors.

Just Ordered the Blackout case from Boxwave, looks like it will suffice for now.
Is it thinner than a speck case? I got the Spigen Spg that I like very much but it doesn't protect the front I want a lightweight case.
