[Updated: Aug 4th] Radio Flashing - HTC Touch Pro (CDMA Only) *12 Radios Available* - Touch Pro CDMA

**DO NOT USE ANY OF THESE RADIOS ON A GSM PHONE! YOU WILL END UP WITH A BRICK IF YOU DO! ON THE SAME NOTE, DO NOT USE ANY GSM RADIOS ON A CDMA PHONE OR YOU WILL END UP WITH A BRICK!**
I take no credit for acquiring these radios. This is simply a collection of information from various sources (mainly PPCGeeks forums). I hope everyone finds it useful.
Does my phone have to be unlocked in order to flash my radio?
- Yes. If you do not know how to unlock your phone, use the SEARCH feature. There are plenty of threads with help on unlocking your phone.
How do I find out what radio I'm currently running?
- Dial ##786# and scroll down to "Firmware Version" and that will tell you which version radio you are running.
Can I use any radio for any carrier?
- Yes! You can mix and match all of these radios with different CDMA carriers. For instance I am currently under contract with Sprint but I'm using a Verizon radio with absolutely no problems. Get it?
Which radio is best for me?
- Too many variables come into play when it comes to your radio on your phone. The BEST way to find out which radio is best for you is to flash it and try it! Give it a couple of days and then try another. I know it's a P.I.T.A. but it is absolutely the very best way to figure out what is best for your phone.
How can I view my signal levels?
- ##33284# is the DEBUG menu. Under here you should look at the following 3 sections (the closer to 0 you are, the better):
Rx Power
Rx Ec/Io
Rx FER
For those of you having issues with the DEBUG menu flashing quickly and returning to the dialer screen, try this cab. Fix Debug Menu
If I flash my radio, does it hard reset my phone?
- Absolutely NOT! It will simply soft reset with no loss of data.
Why should I flash a new radio version on my phone?
- Increased reception reliability & increased battery life. It's simple. The less roaming you do, the better your battery life.
How do I flash my radio?
- The flashing process is IDENTICAL to the ROM flashing process.
1. Download a radio RAR or ZIP file from below
2. Extract the contents of the RAR or ZIP file
3. Plug in your phone to your computer via USB and select ActivSync
4. Execute the "ROMUpdateUtility" and follow the prompts
5. Wait for reboot
6. Done
Note: There is currently no Alltel or Bell stock Touch Pro radio dump. What this means is that if you are currently an Alltel or Bell customer and wish to flash your radio, after the flash you will NOT be able to go back to the stock radio. The Alltel radio listed below was ported from the Diamond. Please consider this BEFORE flashing!!
RADIOS:
ALLTEL
v1.03.13F (Ported from the Diamond. NOT A STOCK TOUCH PRO RADIO)
v1.12.20F
CELLULAR SOUTH
v1.12.31F
SPRINT
v1.00.00F (Ported from the Diamond. NOT A STOCK TOUCH PRO RADIO)
v1.00.04F
v1.03.15F
v1.11.00F (Ported from the Diamond. NOT A STOCK TOUCH PRO RADIO)
v1.12.34F
TELUS
v1.04.05V
US CELLULAR
v1.07.06F
VERIZON
v1.03.03V
v1.03.09V

the Sprint 1.11 was also ported from an official Diamond upgrade. and thanks for posting the radios over here!

I knew I would forget something. Thanks!

Thanks for the instructions very useful.

Excellent! Thank you for this!
I had asked about this a few days ago and I just went this morning to PPCGeeks to find the radios...and ofcourse after a search I did find them, but having them here as well doesn't hurt! =)

I'm glad everyone is finding this useful. I know I wish some of those questions were answered when I first started trying different radios.

I'm a little confused, did I miss something
I have a sprint HTC touch pro. I have the mighty rom 5.0 on it. I saw your instruction to flash to get the radio. I've successfully flashed it, but where is the radio? How do I listen to the radio?

the radio is the firmware that connects to the cell towers. for reception purposes , not FM radio.

I could me mistaken but none of those are "radio only" dumps. Those are full stock ROM dumps. This thread is dedicated to "radio only" flashing.

thanks for posting this. I understand the purpose of this tread, but just to clarify...If you wanted to flash back to the stock radio for the TP you could flash the original rom correct?
Also when I dial ##786# it flashes for a split second then disappears. (I have Alltel TP)

Try ##778# or ##778 "Send" and see if that works for you.
I have a Sprint version and that might be the difference. Can anyone confirm this?

Question, does this affect the EVDO connection as well, such as if I switch to the Verizon radio (I am on Sprint) will this effect the receive on my EVDO?

It will affect your speed either for better or worse. It will not affect the actual ability for you to connect to the service. For lack of a better word it's a different "antenna" for your phone.

New Radio from Alltel
There is a new radio from Alltel that might look good in the collection.. Check out HTC Support for Alltel touch pro to download their latest update.

has anyone got the new 1.12.20F radio and turned it into a flashable exe for us yet? from the new stock altel rom

Restoring To Original Radio and ROM

Can someone please provide the HOW-TO restore back to the original Radio Version, original Locker or unlocker and original software available at HTC. (The files would be enough and a brief walkthrough) - I was able to change to 2.2.61 and it works fine but I am going to sell to someone and want them to have the original ROM so no issues will arise. Thanks for all your help!!
No Takers?
No suggestions?
a little more info please
Need to know what carrier your unit is for. If Sprint then it is pretty easy, but Verizon will require a little care as the files are not on the utstar page and the ones I have for it are untested as I have not tried the rollback.
so if we go to custom rom/radio with an unlocker all we have to do is reflash the sprint rom if we are on sprint?

Yes.. the Sprint ROM's available are complete ROM's with IPL, SPL, Radio, OS, ExtRom, etc. The Verizon ROM's are not available anywhere! Someone over at PPCGeeks claimed to be a Verizon Tech and said even they didn't have the software (which contradicts a user report where they say they walked into Verizon and walked out with a newly flashed XV6800). The available Verizon ROM's namely VZW_2.09_RUU_Signed.NBH is an OS only ROM. It's even got a CID of SPCS_100 which is wrong. IIRC Verizon has a CID of VZW__001.
Anyway, I bricked a XV6800 the other day because I didn't downgrade the radio before running TitanRelocker. The bootloader would not accept any NBH's except the Sprint ship ROM which of course would not load because the Vendor ID didn't match. If you have an XV6800 you should be a little more careful with updating the ROM's since we do not have an easy rollback method like Sprint users do!
Sprint!
Figured it out! Thanks it was a Sprint - Now I feel more comfortable trying different rom's out there...

Sprint Mogul using Sprint Navigator?

I'm a newbie to this forum and just got a Sprint Mogul today from Sprint trying out their $99.99 all you can whatever plan. Sprint Nav was not on it so I downloaded the .cab file and of course it don't work, it can't find the GPS satellites so it says. I'm have a ROM version of 2.17.651.0 and a Radio Version of 1.47.01. First off can i upgrade this via. a new rom/radio ver. to work with Sprint Navigator? I've looked through the threads can't find a straight answer. Can someone point me in the right direction??
Thanks,
Tom
All the instructions are in the "Upgrades" Titan sub-forum.
Go there and look and there are plenty of instructions on how to upgrade the ROM.
Thanks for your help... but....
I am in the ->xda-developers > Titan > Titan upgrading etc. ??? That would be this forum?? I'm sorry I'm lost just new to the topology of this forum... Could you post the link??
I'd much appreciate it!!
thanks,
Tom
You are going to have to wait a few more days for the GPS/RevA update to be released from Sprint to use it.. Either that or use the leaked unofficial bugged version...
James
OK thanks again now I loaded the "bugged" version...
Any ideas on how you set the phone number in the device?? It's wrong so Sprint won't authenticate me on the network... I've searched for setting the phone number but can't pull up anything... I am sure it's simple to do???
Thanks again,
Tom B.
try calling sprint and let them know the phone reset somehow and you need to reenter the number

Cellular South htc 6800

I have a titan on the Cellular South network, small carrier mainly in mississippi. I want to try upgrading my rom, however I do not want to make the same mistake I made with my Palm 700wx. I would like to make a backup copy of the stock rom in case things don't work out and I need to reinstall it. I have searched heavy for backup procedures with no luck. All I have found is recommending saving the ESPT settings. I have copied some, but am not sure what all I need. Any guideance would be appreciated!
not much help or cooperation out here on the 6800; I must say the communication is much better when I was working on my palm 700wx on this site.
I'm a noob, but I too have searched heavily about how to backup the stock ROM/radio, but to no avail. If you want to try better ROM's on the TITAN, I believe from all the reading I have done that the best option is...
SPL: nueSPL247(unlocks the phone)
ROM: dcd3.2.6
RADIO: 3.42.50(GPS enabled0
also no2chem puts out nueROM which is presently up to nueROM3 (for a small donation, it can be yours).
You can also get the complete kitchen from ppckitchen.org
Good luck. If you have any success upgrading your phone, please post it here. I too am on a small local carrier probably in a boat similar to you.

Yeah, but only if you are with a major carrier to the best of my knowledge. Those of us with tier 2 carriers don't get to enjoy that benefit. That is why we constantly want to know how to extract the ROMs from our phone. That way we too could try other ROMs and restore to our carriers ROM if we cannot get it working.

Yeah, with my Palm I could get Cellular South stock rom; however I have not seen it on the HTC website.
I would like to test with my Titan, however I would like to have my stock rom saved to fall back on if need be. There has to be a pretty straight forward method to backup/save your stock rom; I just haven't been able to get my hands on it!
Someone that makes/mods ROMs might be able to help you with dumping your stock rom. The names that come to mind are scrosler, dcd, and gc14. Bitserve took over scrosler's ROM so might have some idea as well.
I apologize to those mentioned above if you get unwanted attention now.
cellular south 6800
I have a cellular south 6800 and hacked it up a while back. All cell south 6800's run a stock sprint rom and just had the names on it changed to cellular south. Cell south actually bought them from Sprint then just rebadged them. You can download the stock sprint rom that is on them from sprint or from here on the forums somewhere (found it in another post a while back). Because of this I did not make a backup of mine before I changed it. I did run into minor problems during the change but only because I lost my epst settings and did not make a good backup of them before I started. I just copied what I needed off a friends 6800.
Backup your epst setting by writting ALL of them down then put nuerom2.4.7 on it and you are good to go. Write down the rom version that is listed in epst. If you ever need to go back you just load up the stock sprint rom.
Thank you greatly for your response; I have been reading and searching for days to resolve this.
Have a Great Day!

If you've worked with CellSouth phones, maybe you can help me. I updated my phone using the Sprint ROM now available on HTC's web site. I messed up, left the phone unattended, and when I got back, my daughter had performed the steps that let the Sprint authorization take place. So I have a Sprint-inized phone. I've got it working, but it keeps changing my dialer settings to a Sprint PCS dialer that won't allow me to save the user name and password.
I need to get back to the stock ROM, but I can't find one. I do find the 2.17 for a Sprint, but the radio ROM is lower than the 1.69 that was on the phone.
Or, I need to know if I can flash another ROM, keeping the current radio.
The original device info:
ROM 2.17.557.0
ROM Date 11/20/07
Radio Version: 1.69.00
Protocol Ver: ACAAAAM-4070
Hardware Ver: 0003
PRL Version: 10002
PRI Version: 1.34_013
It was running WM6.0
The new Device info:
ROM Version 3.56.651.0
ROM Date 06/16/08
Radio Version 3.42.02
Protocol Ver. DCAAXAM-4350H
Hardware Ver. 0003
PRL Version 10002
PRI Version 2.04_003
WM 6.1

I am not with your carrier but I can answer this part. If you have the correct spl 2.40 or 2.47 then yes you can flash the roms here and it will leave the radio alone.
Thanks!
So that means no locking, reverting to stock, then flashing.. just flashing the new?
In the mean time, I was able to load the Telus carrier Cab from DCD and it gave me a modem that I can edit. So, I'm able to do my data connection without headaches.
If I could get the Sprint apps off of it, things probably would be cool. But there seems to be people getting better GPS results and cooler apps with other ROMS. So, maybe I'll give one of them a try.

Which radio for West Coast US?

From what I heard, getting the right radio is trial and error.
Was wondering if anyone knew which gave best reception?
My phone currently has 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18 and my reception is just OKAYish.
Also, you need to root to install Radios, correct?
Can we use Telus 850/1900 MHz Radio?
With our Heros?
I would like to "gain" 3G in US
Try using the latest one, 63.18.55.06IH_6.35.08.22.

this one arouses a few questions for me:
which is the latest, 63.18.55.06IH_6.35.08.22 or 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22? the IU one is the last to be available as update.zip, can i download the IH version somewhere in update.zip format?
or are we talking about cdma radio versions here?
I think the question here is do you have a gsm hero or a cdma hero, because I don't think you can flash a gsm radio onto a cdma hero. but seeing as you have the EU radio on it I'm going to assume a gsm hero.
I have the 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22, and it seems to serve me well, but then again i'm in england, you're best option is to flash one of them, test it for a day, flash another and test until you've tested them all, and then pick from whichever gave you the best service. Its a long task, but its the thorough option.

Well, maybe I should been more clear. The IH and IU are the same rom. It can also present itself as IW. I'm not sure what the difference means, I presume it's based on the hardware (which bands/frequencies and such that is used in your particular hardware).
If you look inside the radio image you can find all the strings mentioned.
63.18.55.06IW
63.18.55.06IH
63.18.55.06IU
So I guess the 63.18.55.06I is the version (combined with the numbers after it) and the W/H/U is depending on your particular phones hardware.
The same thing is true for the other versions aswell (at least on my phone).
Short version: I use IU version (as it's named here on xda, maybe it should just be named 'I'), it presents itself as IH on my Nordic Hero.
thx for the clarification, packetlss.

[Q] Does radio affect LTE capability?

Greetings,
Ive lurked on xda for years without ever posting. All problems are solvable with a little research and the help of our mutual friend google
Im on my 4th HTC device, now a OneX+ that was brought into Dubai from Taiwan. Having successfully rooted and rommed all my phones and tablets, I kinda jumped the gun and started mucking around with my phone a bit early, using the rootboot early on.
I attained SU properly, but I had the same problems as others that in HBOOT, the radio was "unknown". Unfortunately I didnt write down the original radio settings, so im not entirely sure what my device is.
Now with the latest CWM, I have a working radio, CWM and AndroRevolution 3.0 working brilliantly. Radio is being reported again as the EU version of .16
However what I wanted to know are the following questions:
1) Just a bit of confirmation; the boot.img dictates the radio, correct?
2) If yes, then is it possible to flash a different radio than the original? If no, then does this mean since my radio is confirmed and everything is working, my current radio _IS_ the correct one?
3) My region and provider has LTE support and my provider says I only need to enable it on my phone. However using the dialcode to access test settings and change through the modes, it keeps switching from any LTE reception back to something with WCDMA. I cannot even switch to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto. It switches back within 2 seconds.
So what Im trying to ascertain here is, do I possibly have the wrong radio, and if I do is there a way to figure out what it should have been?
The other piece of the puzzle is that despite the unit is from Taiwain, the original language when i switched it on was German, which would suggest it is in fact a EU unit.....
Ive searched through many tools, apps, threads, specs, with no luck in answering the question.... Any help is greatly appreciated.
Paz
1. Boot.img is the kernel and has nothing to do with the radio
2. You can only flash different radio versions by either flashing an RUU or by S-OFF. Radio is a security protected partition. FLASHING A RADIO WILL NOT ENABLE 4G ON A NON 4G DEVICE!! The HOX+ Inrernational version is 3G only. So in answer to your question. Yes you can flash a new radio, but no you will never have 4G on an international hox+

I do have S-OFF though, so is there a way to confirm if its the international version? The model is PM35110. Any reference online is always in Asian language, so hard to tell. I suppose international version really means all countries.

How did you get S-OFF? Do you mean an unlocked bootloader? because that's a different thing. Nand protection security flag, remains intact when unlocking bootloader. so write protected partitions like radio remain unaffected. Either way it's not a software issue. Its a hardware issue. The LTE device have different radio hardware not just software, So your device is either LTE ready or not.

Er yes, you are not confused, i am. HBOOT is showing S-ON, so I must have been high on caffeine when I was sure I saw S-OFF at one point. However like I mentioned I was playing with the rootboot boot.imgs early on and I was pretty sure I saw S-OFF then. But incidentally that was also when the radio was "unknown" at that time.
Oh well, Im stateside for Xmas and will give my dad the international version and buy myself a new one.
Thanks for your help

You're doing it so, so wrong.
A quick search of the model number reveals that it's the Endeavour C2. If you have an LTE version it would be Evitareul.
1) Wrong. Radios are flashed separately and are not packed into the boot.img.
2) It is possible but unless you are S-OFF you cannot flash one very easily.
3) The reason why is because your device does not support LTE.
