Sprint Touchpro - Broken Touch Screen - Touch Pro CDMA

Phone works and everything but the touch screen is not responsive.
Does anyone know how to call up the "Start" menu just using the keyboard?
or
How to press "Send" using just the keyboard for SMS msg?
Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure that it is possible. this has happened twice to me* (see below) and those were the only 2 things that I could not do. you can go to the program tab to the far right and start any programs you may still be able to use...
*I've had this happen to 2 of my touch pros...What I was told by a rep was there is a small plastic tab on the back of your screen. If you look on your phone where the volume buttons are...opposite side. That small plastic tab should be removed because this rubs against some connector inside the phone that causes the touch screen to die. soooo long story short you'll need to take it in and get it replaced

Sort of the same issue:
I've got a stock ROM, PhoneAlarm (latest beta) and a few other applications installed on this device, only recently has it caused me as much of a hassle as it has. I get a phone call and no matter if I press the softkey "Answer" button or the answer button on the bottom left below the jogdial, NOTHING picks up a call. Sometimes if I stab at it wildly enough it answers and immediately places a call within a call which means I can't get back to the original one i answered. It's frustrating and really annoying.

@sanjsrik - I'm having the same issue.
Using a Sprint issued TouchPro. Along with the 'Answer' issues, I'm also having problems with the screen jogging around. When I go into applications or the phone keypad, the screen is skewed, however if I touch the screen (in the correct spot), the correct command happens. For example, if my keypad screen is skewed (which only happens sporadically), it shows the '7' where the '9' should be and if I touch the screen there, the '9' correctly apprears. I plan to take the phone to Sprint either tomorrow or next and hopefully will have a clearer verdict.

SK17 - screen issue during calls

I have got the problem that sensors turn out my screen after calls start (incoming/outgoing) and it does not activate again when I want to end the call.
I have realized that after a call is started and the phone is moved (e.g. after typing a number, dialling and then move the phone to your ear) that this (or actually any movement) locks the screen.
I have realized that the movement actually activates the 'dial pad' (just as you would press the icon on the screen during a call) but somehow also fully de-activates the screen. You can get the screen activated again only by sliding the hardware keypad out. Then you can press 'x' on the screen to get back to the normal call screen (and then end the call normally).
I have got the 2nd SK17 now and it has got the same issue regardless which firmware I use (branded 4.0.A.2.335 from vodafone, 4.0.A.2.335 Generic or 4.0.2.A.0.58 Generic).
Anyone else got this issue and has got a solution.
Same here. its because of the light sensors.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18404603&postcount=6
heres a guide to turn it off
Thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated.
However, I am afraid this does not resolve the issue. When applying as described in the guide the screen is de-activated straight after answering a call (without moving the device) and even when sliding the hardware keyboard out and pressing 'x' on the screen (to return to normal call screen) and then close the hardware keyboard again the screen is de-activated straight.
Ending calls now is only possible when the hardware keyboard is slided out.
Before applying as described in the guide at least the screen returned to be active after sliding keypad out, pressing 'x' and sliding keypad back in (and then not moving the device).
Therefore I have reverted back to what is was before for the time being.
Any other thoughts, hints, help.

UPDATE 2011/11/27:
I have got my SK17 exchanged again (got the 3rd one now) and on this one it does not occur respectively call screen and sensors work perfect. Finally SE or vodafone seem to fix it on newly produced devices.

odd issue with the keyboard on S2

I have a galaxy s2 running ICS (but the issue occurred) and I have a very odd issue with the keyboard that I am hoping someone could help me with. I have searched around but did not find anything already posted.
A short while ago, my screen broke and I had it replaced, good as new. Well almost. When ever I use the messaging app, or another type of app like that (Whats App for example), when you are composing a new message, and the textbox is shrunk down to one line at the bottom of the screen, there appears to be no input detected on that part of the screen, the send button (on the right hand side) works, and the other controls all work fine, just not the textbox.
So I figured that when the screen broke, it messed up that part of the screen, but other apps that have controls in that region (such as the camera app that has the photo button, or the lock screen with the emergency call button) all work 100%.
Its just textboxes at the bottom of the screen that do not seem to accept touch events. VERY odd.
Has anyone seen this before or know of a few tests/checks I can do. I am a new-ish user to Android.

This really sounds anoying but i know several issues quiet close to yours.
For instance sometimes on my sgs+ one side of the screen....in many cases the top side does not recognize any touching by me...
after loocking and afterwards aunlocking the phone everythings allright again...
i would suggest you to try to install a thirdparty keyboard from the play store.
if this doenstn work.....well maybee try another rom but i would send it to samsung to get a new phone...cus errors caused by wrong placed hardware are always comming back
fare well my friend

Freakish Sudden Issue with AT&T Note...

This phone has never been modified, no custom ROMS, never rooted, using the latest OS from AT&T ...
And today, for whatever reason, when making originating a phone call, and once I've hit "dial" ... the phone screen goes completely black except for the status bar at the top (the one you can swipe down). I'm saying that whereas usually, after hitting "dial" and as the phone dials, you can actually see a screen full of information (hang up botton, number/name of who your dialing, etc.) ... in this case and now, there is just a black screen.
Though there is a black screen (other than the status bar at top), I can still hear the phone ring and even have a conversation should somebody answer. But when the call is over (the person on the other end has to end the connection because I have no screen interface to do such), the screen remains blank (other than the status bar at top) and none of the bottom, permanent keys are operative either ("home" / "back" / settings / etc.). To get back to the home screen, I have to pop the battery and re insert it and re start the phone. But even then, it's acting weird: when booting, at the "Reimagine Possilbe" screen (I think that's what it says) it hangs there for about 45 seconds (usually only about 5 when functioning correctly) and will eventually end up at the home screen.
But if I originate a call, the cycle repeats.
I've completely reset the phone to factory defaults at least three times, formatted the USB storage and the whole nine yards but it remains glitched as described above.
...
So... has anyone seen/heard of this?
I'm thinking of just warrantying the phone as it's only about 5 months and I figure AT&T should have no issue as it's such a replicable problem and it certainly doesn't seem to be software related as it's completely stock and multiple factory resets have not worked but wanted to put a line out here first to see if anyone else has experienced this.
Thanks in advance for any information.
Best,
Joel.
I think the network is fugazi right now, as I had issues with the phone, and read about another user having same troubles. I'd give it a little time.

I sure hope so. Even though I've reset the phone (which sucks) ... I'd prefer that over having to go to the store and all...
Odd that a network problem could cause such, though ....
Thanks for the word ...
Best.

Just a llittle update ...
I changed the "Proximity Sensor" to OFF and now the normal iin-call screen appears but it never goes away, which can be problematic.
In general, I've always had the proximity sensor set to ON as this allows the in-call screen to blank after a few seconds (complete blank with no status bar at top) and then reappear when I remove the phone from my ear.
But when I re enable the proximity sensor, now ... the screen blanks immediately (excepting the status bar at the top) and never comes back ... even after my call recipient ends the call ...
I'm just gonna warranty at at the local service center; at this point (two days now with all my friends AT&T phones working fine) I'm pretty sure something is glitched with the internal sensor that manages the proximity settings ...
Thank God for warranty.

Touch Screen Issues (incorrect keypresses)

Hi all, i received my Verizon Galaxy Edge on friday and the phone is perfect, but i'm having a issue. I've looked everywhere to see if others are having the same issue as me but nothing, zip, nada.
The issue im having is with the touch screen, lets just say i'm texting, i normally keep my left thumb near the volume down button, kinda touching the edge screen but not really much, well im texting and sometimes i dont have to be pressing the keyboard, but its the issue with the left edge screen, it's making it press in the center where my thumb would be. i've turned on to show my input presses and all that and its confirmed the center of the screen touch input when i'm only touching the edge. any help or issues? does this sound more of a hardware defect or a software defect?
This is weird. I'm kinda having the same problem, but not "frequently". I wonder if other people do. I think it has to do with our palm/fingers accidentally for a short period of time so it registers as a touch, then if you were already touching somewhere else then it'd mess up and register the touch in a random place, but I'm not sure. For me it isn't in the centre but it's annoying when it happens.
Well its not all the time dead center, but yeah its annoying. We might have same issue
an update, today i was typing on facebook and i noticed my right thumb was kind of near the L key but it was recognizing presses with my other hand without touching the screen (heat presses) tried to get the video but it went back to normal 5 seconds after the video, will record when it happens again.
Hello,
For touch screen problem try this:
-in dialer type *#2663#
-TSP firmware update (general)
You should see "PASS"
That have solve my touch screen problem...

keyboard delay

Hello people,
I've noticed a weird problem with my Samsung S2 running Gingerbread 2.3.5 (yes, I know, it's old... but the last time I've upgraded to anything more recent, the battery lasted less than one day. I'll happily receive any advices on newer versions tho).
let me tell the story:
the phone is "quiet", with the screen black.
...a message arrives! (doesn't really matter if it's an SMS, Telegram, WhatsApp or anything else. Even notes will be affected, everything needing a keyboard input)
I press the power button, the phone "wakes up" and shows me the lock screen - I've set a static image with the time in the upper area.
so the phone starts running and I go to the desired application (sms/telegram/notes/etc...)
the keyboard (swype keyboard, but is the same also with my other 2 keyboards) shows up.
I try to input letters, words, but nothing gets written. If I press longer to get to the special character selection, I can't select any of them, all I can do is touching the Back button and return to the keyboard.
I usually press a key from time to time to see when the keyboard starts working.
After a delay of ~15 seconds it starts working, but I have to be careful not to let the phone going back to sleep or I will have to endure the delay again (this usually happens during a chat and it's quite annoying).
so, I suspect there is some application that gets stuck after waking up from the lock screen, but does anyone have experienced this? Any ideas on what it could be?
Thanks!
Best Regards
Max
