SD --> MicroSD Adapter - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Accessories

I'm looking for an adapter which could connect a normal SDcard into a MicroSD slot (in the TP2). I know that they exist. But I cannot find any dealer. I prefer a Dutch dealer (website or normal shop).
Somebody?

gewoon op ebay zoeken heb ik oo kgedaan, voor paar eurootjes

Heb je misschien een benaming voor het stukje hardware waarmee ik iets makkelijker kan zoeken?

Do u have a name or something for this peace of hardware, so it's easier to look for it?

ok, bablefish threw a wobbly at a lot of that - any chance of a translation please?

Ja van die dingen heb ik er wel enkele liggen, maar zoek het andersom.
MicroSD met een adapter voor SD zodat ik hem in het microSD slot kan doen van mijn TouchPro2.

Guys, I don't wanna sound at all rude, but if you were to stick up your questions in English, might you not get a wider answerbase for your problem?

Hey Roger, I agree. I'm question is still the same, in the first post. Only 1 person gave a suggestion (ebay), the other one thought I meant something else.

Okay Ebay is good, but how to search for it? name?

Now you've shown photos of what you're trying for, I follow the problem - but here's a cautioning thought - you'll have to keep the back cover off your TP2 in order to use such an adaptor.
That's not too safe a move, in my humble opinion - much better to buy a multi-card reader for your PC, and copy everything from the SD card to the PC, then back to a fresh microSD card instead - that way, you get to keep the back cover on your new pride and joy
It's what I did, by the way.

Normally I would do that ofc.... but it's for my vacation. I want to update a blog with my TP2 and upload some pictures I made with my camera. I could make pictures with my TP2, but that isn't to be compared to the photo's I make with my Panasonic TZ7.
So I need a way to get my photos of my camera on to my TP2 ... Other solutions are welcome aswell

And something like that (see the attachment).
You use your µSD Card in your phone and when you need it you put it in the adapter and put it in you camera.
Sound good no ?

That possible ..... but I didn't buy two 8GB Ultra 2 SDcards for nothing ofc.... plus I don't have great experiences with microSD adapters ... most of the time it doesn't work.

I use MircoSD cards in SD adaptors for all my cameras still & video, Wii, Printer / Scanner & for PC backups. Then they are all interchangeable with my phone and key ring. Haven't had any problems with them.
The other option is a small device I bought from Maplin.co.uk for my aunt. It had SD, MemoryStick & CF slots and a USB socket. You can then copy from one to the other whilst on the move without a PC. The whole thing was about 50x70x15mm. I'm afraid I can't remeber what it was called at the moment. It was £4.99 I remember that much!
Found a similar device: http://www.getusb.info/review-aleratec-usb-copy-cruiser-plus/ but it looks a bit more complex and expensive. You would probably have to stick the microSD card in a USB reader too if the device only has one SD slot.

Ok nu in het engels:
They are called microSD to SD-card adapters on eBay and lots of other websites so try those words... And see if your 8GB is microSD-HC or just microSD, they are not the same!

why dont u use an adaptor for your camera with a micro SD card.. so u can stick the micro sd back in your phone to transfer the pic...

Because I have 2 UltraII 8GB SDcards already .... + like I said, I have had many problems with microSD adapters

just a thought, since our phone is capable of SDIO, this device you pictured in post 8 might actually be useful for the older PDA accessories like SD-WiFi, SD-GPS, SD-bluetooth, SD-VGAoutput, etc, etc... then again, utterly redundant, but great for showing off : I remember there're still people selling the TP1 SD-TVout cable for hundreds of dollars when we can use the audio adapter jack for $3, but I digress
I understand your mistrust of microSD, but here in the US, an 8gb class6 microSDHC including SD adapter runs between $15-$20, probably coming from abroad too (newegg, amazon), and the adapter you want to purchase will easily cost more than the card itself.

Sorry, I don't know for a dutch dealer, but I got such a device myself from this chinese site, and it works well on my TP2:

isn't sound silly to use microSD adapter for SD card
it may be OK for quickies, but it sounds pretty silly to carry such dongles around
get a class 6 microSD or two, and transfer all files, problem solved

Can the 8Gb MicroDrive by Hitachi be "upgraded" ?

possibly yes...

I would guess that if the power consumption and size are the same for a larger drive then the answer would be yes. Check the specifications of the installed drive and see if any larger drives exist with the same power consuption and size....let us know what you find...i'm interested. Also, PocketPCTechs are known for updates of this sort. You might consider e-mailing them and asking if they plan on having a HD upgrade for the Athena and letting us know what they say.
I've only found a 4gig SDHC card. If you find something larger let us know this also.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the tilt sensor for the Vueflow is built into the hard drive.... So swapping it for another drive would prevent that from working.

What I settled for trying.
I found a 16Gb CompactFlash to replace the MicroDrive. Pricey... very pricey, but want to try that. Power comsumption is slighly lower, so I might see improvement. I will try to mirror the "drives" before inserting the CompactFlash. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Access time is much faster also. Can't wait to try to run a movie on a plasma. Finally an alternative to renting movies in hotels! For those interrested in the drive: http://www.flash-memory-store.com/16gb-compact-flash.html The Qmemory drive seems the most interresting one. 24Mb/s access... not even sure the south bridge on this device can access the drive that fast.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think the Athena used Compact Flash. I'm sure if we contact Hitachi support they will provide us with information on a larger drive. Maybe PocketPC Tech's will soon offer an upgrade. I would prefer having them do it with a warranty.
Maybe they don't make a larger MicroDrive...check out the site

Hitachi isn't the problem... the problem is the darn CE-ATA interface I didn't notice. Intel is heading the new standard, and the founding member? Hitachi. So far, no other drives then Hitachi's 3K8. Well, they have 2/4/6/8 Gb in sizes, nothing else. 10Gb was suppose to exist, but never saw light. Tough luck for now. Until 20Gb transflash sees light, no expansion. Why oh why HTC didn't you choose the standard CF interface? Looks like I'm returning a 16Gb CF card. :-S

Good that HTC installed from the beginning the max available capacity, not 2/4/6 GB.
That's another way of looking at it. It's positive... true. I guess if you are ultra conscious in the design also, shaving off a few milimeters and tenth of grams is immportant also.
Why do people keep referring to Transflash? Transflash was the standard that became MicroSD, I thought - the thumbnail sized cards. MiniSD is like the SD equivalent of the 1/2 MMC cards.

Doesn't really matter, you can put a Transflash (MicroSD) card into a MiniSD adapter.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm soooooooooo glad they went with the largest available drive. Means they didn't cut too many corners. Way to go HTC on this choice! Doesn't feel like they skimped on us.

Uh, yeah, and you can put a Transflash into an SD card adaptor and use it in your camera, too, if you want expensive, slow, small amounts of memory.
I'm not saying that it's impossible to use Transflash in the device, but that people saying Transflash may be confused about what card slot the device has and buy the wrong memory. Or more importantly, people reading might think it has a MicroSD slot.
I use MicroSD aka Transflash because I can put them in all my devices 9sometimes using adapters obviously). Where SD or MiniSD wouldn't fit in a Motorola phone or Blackberry with Transflash (or MicroSD for the purists *grin*)
cheers! I love my Athena the way it is. I still feel the urge to tweak it though! ;-)
Memory is so cheap these days, I just get each device a card - especially since my Nokia's MiniSD card doesn't seem to be recognised by the Mac (I haven't tried it in the Athena yet). 4GB is only £40!
That looks like a 1" drive, like wots inside some iPods. Is it even smaller than that?

MicroSDHC 4Gb. TyTN's compatibility?
Could someone confirm if this microSDHC is compatible with TyTN (hermes 200)?
I read on other foruns that is not compatible (maybe with WM05...). :?
Just have to wait till they come out and someone else has acuttaly tried putting one in there device!
I just hope the hermes supports it correctly, ie doesnt kill batt life e.t.c.
Oh and its going to need to be fat32 formatted, which shouldnt make much odds.

I will let you know whether it works when mine arrives
When it's over the 2Gb , it has to be HC. The HC makes the addressing of hight then the FAT maximum addresable of 2Gb. Some 2Gb cards are and others are not, but anything over 2Gb is High Capacity period. So you NEED to have FAT32 also on these... otherwise, if you manage to format it in FAT, it will acutally have 2Gb of space only.

Why?? I have a 4gb SD for my (gasp!!) LifeDrive that is not SDHC. Formatted with Fat32, but not SDHC. Same design, just bigger, isn't it? The question is, would my 8525 handle a >2gb microSD, not -HC?
Would be interested to see how these go so I can drop my iPod nano 4GB and use this in the car with my CK-20W A2DP Car Kit

That's pritty much my point. In normal SD cards they have found a way to make 4GB's without SDHC, somehow. There not made to the official standard of either SDHC or just plain SD though; so it's even more confusing for people!
I believe it's to do with the fact that FAT32 is not part of the SD specification but the non-SDHC 4GB cards use it anyway.
But anyway, those not so keen on buying the 4GB straight away will just have to wait and see what others report.
At the moment the fact 4GB is so much more per GB then 2GB or 1GB is putting me off, but then that's always the same with the newest.
I just got a mail from mobymemory, they're pushing back the delivery date to the 22nd of June

32GB microSD card???

Hey guys
i got my TD2 today! can i use 32GB microSD card? dose it support it?
if so, where can i buy it?
thx
I can confirm that the 16GB card works fine, not sure about 32GB.
What would you put on the 32GB card to fill it up, lot's of movies? I have lots of apps, TomTom maps of the UK & USA, some movies & mp3's and still have plenty of room left over. Maybe in time I will look back and wish I purchased a 32GB but at the moment It's more than enough.

They say TD2 only support up to 16GB, because at the time of its launch there were only 16GB avaliable. That's all.

I would like a 32gb card because :
a) Since I can mount my phone as USB mass storage, it could replace my external USB drive (except it uses the FAT32 file system not NTFS)
b) I'm backpacking around Europe soon, so loading it up with movies, music & tv shows for all the long flights & train rides would be great.

I heard that the problem is that they very hot and slow, so still not availaible for sale. Also i heard that they can be used on Kaiser
Even when the 32GB cards come out, they will be relatively very expensive. It would be much cheaper to buy 2 16GB cards and swap-out when wanted. After all, you can swap cards easily enough if you only use them for media and avoid putting programs and other essential data on them. There's surely enough storage on board the D2 for all the progs you could want?
Then just stick, say, music on one card and video on the other. Swapping takes 30 seconds, maybe? The other benefit is if you get a card failure it's a lot less traumatic to your wallet.
@ root beer: It's very easy to fill up 32GB, a lot of people's music collection @ 320k takes up this space. Before you even consider videos etc

Agreed, i just bought a 16GB card for my TD2, but tried it in my old Touch Dual and it works fine, I was always advised that could only take 8GB.
What is the thing that like makes a limit for how much a device can take? I mean, there must be something.
Its the limitations of SD. Any device that is SD 2.0 Complient will work with upto 32GB wheras SD1.x devices will work with cards <2GB

Any news on the 32gb Micro SD card ?
hope it wil be a class 8 or 10
If the 32GB MicroSDHC card comes out anytime soon (Which I doubt), the first ones will be class 2 or 4 at best, and cost at least half-again as much as two 16GB cards. A single 16Gb card is $50 @ microcenter.com, so I predict once the 32GB's come out, they'll be at least $150 each.

My 16GB class 6 Adata card has been problematic when transferring larger files via the USB phone connection mode. If I remove the card and place it in a card reader it works perfectly.
YMMV, cause it might be my card or my system that causes such bugs. Just wanted to bring it to your attention.

Det fandme dyrt det er, 1500 for et keyboard?! man kan købe en tablet til den pris
There has been too little info from any danish retailer. The ones I've been talking to (Proshop, Komplett, Elgiganten, etc) had never even heard of this tablet and have no dates.
So for now I have preordered it at amazon.de - the prize including shipping for the 64GB gray version is around 4700,- there.
However, I will cancel it if any of the danish retailers can get their info sorted out and actually put it up for preorder.
The only store in the Nordics so far where I've seen the Prime is CDON: http://cdon.dk/hjemme-elektronik/asus_eee_pad_transformer_tf201_32gb_inkl_keyboard-17451242. Expected delivery is listed as February 1st.
They are following list prices in all countries except Finland where they for some reason tack on 11% :-(
And its "only" the 32GB model they got up for preorder.. As usual it will probably take an additional month or two before we see the 64GB model.

Asus Sweden (and I believe Finland as well) have stated that the 32GB gold version with dock is the only version that will be available for sale until further notice.
Just typical.. I cannot understand why this is always so. It's sheer stupidity. But I'm sure Amazon is happy for all my orders over the years thanks to this..

Mainly movies and games. I communte 2 hours each day - and I need to be entertained Sure, I could just shuffle the content more often. But I know from experience that that gets tiresome fast enough to warrant the bigger amount of mem..
And as I don't have any need for the keyboard just yet, I'll get the 64GB version for the same price as the 32GB version incl keydock..

I intend to
And for the english speaking audience who crossed their fingers for any new info and choose to check this thread:
Considering preordering from CDON, cause I'm not really sure what to think about no other retailers having any information about the Prime. But at least we have a little idea of what to expect here in Denmark, price around 5000 kr and CDON usually have their expected releases late so they doesn't end up disapointing, so I take February as the latest release!
CDON har fjernet Prime fra deres side.. Var der en af jer der fik forudbestilt? Og i så fald, har I fået nogen information fra dem?
They removed it because Asus asked them not to take pre-orders until Prime has been launched in Scandinavia,.
Dam so now we know nothing the prime here om Scandinavia?
I mean is the price on 5000 kr then still right?

64GB Micro SD card do they work on photon ?

hi, I'm looking to buy a 64GB MicroSDXC card
do they compatible with photon ?
can anybody who have them give some inputs ?
thank you.
No, the Photon only supports microSDHC, and like you said, the 64gb (also, anything over 32gb) is classified as microSDXC.
32gb + 16gb internal should be more than enough anyways, provided you use it wisely.
If you absolutely NEED that amount of space, some users were able to use the Photon as a USB host and attach an external USB flash stick using a special USB-F-MicroUSB-M

I've seen a couple reports that they work fine on the Photon, but more that they don't. And the Droid4 and Bionic are reported to work.

The current 64GB cards are generally backwards compatible with SDHC in a lot of devices.

I have a Sandisk 64 card - haven't tried it in my Photon, but it works fine in my Xoom and Cowon J3 MP3 player (linux).
So, I don't know for sure. (My Photon battery cover plastic clips won't take too many more removals or I'd try it)
I got my mom a 64gb sandisk mobile utra microsd card and its works perfectly. She uses the microsd for music and so far she hasnt had any problems.

the 64GB is the exact one I got her.
Cool - good to know, thanks for the post.
I figured it would work fine in the Photon since it seems to work in about everything else with a SDHC 3.0 compatible slot.
And I got my spare battery cover via eBay today, so may try it soon.
- - and to "MooseV2" that said "no", please do your research in the future before making broad statements; TIA!

I have SanDisk Mobile Ultra 64Gb and so far, so good BUT.........I rarely have anything on it. I use ZumoCast to access all my music, photos, documents on my desktop at home? If Im doing a Server upgrade or something, I'll drag a few movies to card, but other than that, empty!
Everything I have read points to the 64GB working perfectly as long as you format it in the phone (FAT32)

format /fs:NTFS x: (where 'X' is whatever drive your computer assigned it!)
Yea it works, I have a 64GB micro sd card. You will have to insert it and go to storage and reformat the sd card while its in the Photon and it will work. I get 60GB out of the 64GB
Sorry guys
You're in the Photon forum.
(And they so far appear to work in about everything - format in phone)
This looks like a good price for a class 6 card.

Has anyone used a class 10? Is it worth it?

Read back, reading is.....never mind. Your correct, $64 is good price as I paid $99 from newegg. I had 32Gb class 10, I saw no difference, so o went back to sandisk 32Gb class 6, better speed!

Let me better explain my "No big difference, so I went back" comment. I had a 16Gb SanDisk Class 4, I was happy. I got 32Gb SanDisk Class 6 for $100.00 and I was happy. I got Komputer 32Gb Class 10 for @ the same. When I compared them read/write, depending on what I was reading or writing, the SanDisk was either faster OR not that far behind, so I went back to SanDisk for the realiabilaty. I now have 64Gb SanDisk Class 6 and I'm happy (Kinda of, there is nothing on it? I either use Google or ZumoCast to acces my desktop at home?)
My suggestion, look for stability, look at the reviews where people smarter than I have done extensive testing. Not all chips are alike. Also, look at your needs. If you take a ton of pictures or video, I assume you would need high write speed. If your a gamer, I assume you would need high read speeds? Just me!
Thanks for the further explanation! I'll probably just pick up the class 6. It's getting rave reviews on Amazon.
