Favorite 6.5 build? - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

Da_G
As Anryl said, 220xx is based on RTM (21234), as such is old, and it's SEMC branch (Sony Ericsson) - incorporating their requested changes (that slider on cHome being one of them)
I think you are mistaking "RAM Cleanup" for "Not running test code used to add new features" - indeed if this is your priority you really should be using the RTM build 21234 instead of test builds

So I start school again in a few days and I would like to build a solid ROM. I have been running at least every other kitchen from Da_G and I can't remember the best ones. I remember one rom booted with 28% memory (typical now is 34+%). If I remember right 21234 WAS a great rom, any suggestions?
I plan on using this guide to "trim the fat." I like a light ROM, no msvc or tf3d, super light.

23016 seems quite famous, but I am using 21928, but to be serious, as a daily user I hardly care about builds but about those cardinal issues which are still unsolved like battery, stability etc. Although some of chefs did well but the age which Josh, Medkid or Abu, brought to Kaiser is still missing. Dont know if this paragraph going to help you but its more like an observation of an heavy Touch Pro user.
Good Luck...

thanks
Thanks for your input. This morning I put together a clean Rom from 21932 and it runs and boots at 26% mem! Nice but the little magnifier is annoying.

I stuck with 21222 w/21510 SYS & XIP fo rits stability.

Yea I like 21222... but the later 23xxx builds are quite nice too. The 23xxx builds have a lot of new functionality like movable start menu icons and now are beginning to look VERY different with the X/Ok buttons on the bottom taskbar.
My current build is 23016 which runs pretty well. I am going to start toying around with 23025 because of all its new features. I think for stability though 21222 and 23016 are my favorites. Both are some of the fastest builds I've tested, 21222 being the best but lacking some features.

Just some comments on the New ROMs

I loaded DCD 4.1.2 and liked it. I was REALLY excited about the new 6.5 ROM. While I haven't built my own ROMs, My little mogul has been cooked more times than I can think of.
Here are my thoughts on these two ROMs
DCD
Pros:
GREAT memory and management: 26 mgs available at boot:
I can run Audio Manager, Live Search, Netfront browser, and send and receive text....with neither of them closing.
Cons:
See Pros below
Windows 6.5
Pros:
Integrated Touchflow.
IE8 with Flash
It really does seem faster for some things.
Cons:
Terrible memory and management. Even with Manilla NOT loaded, I only have about 19.5 megs at boot up (even with Hibernate). I can only run one program at once (basically).
Conclusion:
I would rather have the memory than IE8.
Thanks for the info. I love DCD roms, but I'm really wondering about this new WM6.5 rom. It would be nice to hear some more comments from others about each. Thanks!
Not so much an opinion as an educated comment...
I think that you are going to find that WM6.5 (and IE8) are just plain designed for devices with more RAM than the Titan's 64MB. It's a hardware limitation that is just going to be difficult to get past. Compare it to running Vista on an older desktop box with only 512MB of RAM... it will work, and look pretty, but it will be very limited. Vista (and WM6.5) were designed around hardware that is unfortunately higher horsepower than older machines like the desktop I used as an example above (in the case of Vista) and the Titan (in the case of WM6.5) have.
It'll be fun to play with (I haven't tried it yet) but expecting it to be a reliable daily driver on the Titan is probably asking a bit much. I found the same thing with Opera 9.5... it is beautiful, and the best mobile browser I have ever seen, but the Titan just can't run it effectively (without the low memory errors).
were getting pretty close on the memory but your right the 6800 got the shaft on the ram dept.
don't know why you have memory issues.. when I build WM6.5 without M2D
I get 25.6MB FREE ram .. without Hibernate..
and even with M2D loaded and 18.8MB free at bootup, I am still able to run
google map, sms\mms and IE plus Activesync running .. with no issues..
also runs my TomTom without any issues.. plus 6.5 runs faster as well overall..
granted as you keep loading more apps if you go to task mng, just by opening
task mng. it close some apps .. if you flip to and from your apps you'll see they
are still running .. well my experience anyways...
I use my phone just like if its a PC .. hell this post if from my phone.. the new IE is damm sweet...

It might be better to compare WM 6.5 to Windows 7 instead of Vista.
Running Windows Vista on an old/slow computer is a horribly bad idea. However in beta testing Windows 7 I installed it on a Celeron M laptop with only 1gb of ram and it ran like a dream (without Aero). My boot up and loading times were equal to XP. So if WM 6.5 is designed correctly, it could work just fine on our devices.
The only thing that has me hesitating on 6.5 is that from reading the threads where this was first posted, this a very early release. Since it seems there will be a production version from MSFT floating around within another few weeks, maybe these memory issues will be more manageable, with perhaps some additional features? And no doubt there will be a DCD 6.5 eventually as well, either with this version or a later one.
Serious Props to those that are working hard to get it going now, but I have a feeling there will be better to work with in the near future.

What do you mean without hibernate? I guess that might be a noob question sorry. 25.6 would be even better than DCD roms. Wow.
hibernate refers to oxios hibernate which releases memory to help make your phone run faster

WM6.5 beta 4 has great memory management. I have been testing it for 17hrs now and am just blown away by its speed. IE8 is awesome. No more WM6.1, I have moved on, you will too, trust me.

the main part of 6.5 is done .. whats left is the interface, the build number
will may go up once the interface is added however there is no memory issues
I know of .. other than the first few beta 1-3 release that has the nueKernel
(a 3rd party programs that cause memory issues .. not the 6.5 kernel !!)
that add was removed from beta-4 and no more issues ..
Also note, after the new interface is added to WM6.5 I believe it will be strip out anyways
at it will be built for VGA or higher PDA's and even if there is a QVGA version
its going to require a ton of memory anyways!! what you will be left with is
whats out now anyways!! thus DCD 6.5 may end up being on this same built!!

Hey thanks for the info buddy. Tried it. First 15 minutes impression:
- Display like a today plugin is good as it allows one to use the tradional start menu too.
- Animations are cool but a bit sluggish on gene.
- Memory usage is almost double the TouchFlo's :O it hogs 8091 KB of memory, touchflo's manilla 2D shows around 4500 KB.
- Not as responsive as Previous Version or as TouchFLO.
-Slideshow didn't worked at first go, had to configure it twice to get it to work.
-No start menu icon created. Will check if it works as a today plugin or something.
So overall impressive piece of work, but requires a bit of tweaking from the developer's side.
Checked it after removing M2D from Sumit's MVUltimate ROM, honestly didn't impress me much. If anyday i will switch to eye candy with this device, I will definitely part with M2D at least as things stand now . I believe it has miles to go before it can come into compettition.
surely it isnt a fraction as pretty as m2d...maybe we'll have to wai for the ver 3.0
it might be much faster however if burned into the romi feel!
what say ankit?

Cooked it into a ROM derived from MVUltimate by Sumit (krazy), Not much impressed though. Got it to work. speed is ofcourse improved, if you want, I will post a link from where you can download and check in your Gene (BTW I am not an experienced cooker, so don't blame me if your Gene is bricked, Hey it worked for me ).
hi...
great work...
i tried it on ankits rom...and well speed is PRETTY good...but eye candy is anadequate...and honestly, the speed and stability of ankits 6.5 vs rom has me hooked and im not changing my rom till ankit releases a newer version!
...but great work mate!

What is the best working rom? ONLY MAY 2010

I hope this the right place for that question / poll ...
What is the best "working" rom at that moment (may 2010)?
Not the best looking rom but the rom with best performance and fewest problems.

Novembre5 last version v5 loaded is the best so far gps,ram etc.

absolutely properly! FFBOY2009 make great work
of course : novembre5 ROM works fine and its near to zero bugs
for best looking is FFboy's sense beta2 very nice and very stabil
I would recommend arag0n85's Debranded Orange..
You get all the stability of the official rom, but all of the unnecessary rubbish is gone.
I have tried a few of the cooked roms now, but find that none are as good for GPS (using GPSModDriver) and no ActiveSync problems, unlike all the others I have tried.
I use Mobile Shell 3.5.4 and Phone Suite 1.2 (I don't like the current version) The beauty of Phone Suite is that it allows me to have the phone power down at night and start automatically in the morning. A real bonus for battery life.
i've had the novembre5 clean Rom 3 running for a few weeks, and it`s solid.
Huge performance increase and zero crashes or lockups
FFBOYS_ROM_WM61_21057 works great. On Boot 110 MB RAM free
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=679530
Run by me with spbMobileShel 3.5.4 + Mobile Sense theme. Have then 87 mb free RAM. Absolutely solidly and bugfree
toshiba 5005.0001.76
i think, the best rom is the official one. i have tried all custom build roms and each of them has some issues. i noticed some problems with graphics in different programs, problems with gps, sound and even if u have 90 mb of ram after restart, you are usually at 50-60 after while anyway and that is same amountof memory as the original one has. i have to say those guys made good job to produce those roms, but i still think the official rom is the most stable one there. i use spb3.5 so i don`t care about bigger buttons so much.
or
i just installed FFBOY`S 6.1 rom and i must admit it looks great, fast, plenty of memory, i didn`t notice any bugs. i`m gonna test it for a while and maybe this one will be my favourite..;-)

under settings/ personal is ordinarily menu INPUT available. but in your ROM
is this empty. I have corrected this: HKLM\ControlPanel\Input\Restrict
deleted Restrict. After reset is under settings/ personal menu INPUT available.
FFBOYS 6.1 is the best very clean fast stable
FFBOYS beta 2 if you want with manila sense.. very stable too
Novembre5 if you want clean 6.5
Malaysian rom for standard Toshiba rom.. very good gps.

[Q] WM 6.5 vs. 6.5.5

Hi,
I've recently upgraded my wm6.5 to 6.5.5.
So far, beside that huge ugly softkey bar, I don't see much difference between 6.5 6.5.5. So could someone point out the main improvements with 6.5.5 (Don't know yet if I keept it or revert to 6.5).
Thanx
I have always preffered the former.
i like 6.5 better because of that fugly bar in 6.5.x

This my opinion right now. But if 6.5.x REALLY improves some stuff, I might get used to it
I haven't noticed any performance improvement, just functional, the menus are more finger friendly. if ttats what you are looking for.
Well, I was expecting some kind of significant improvements. I'll play a bit with 6.5.5 before I make my mind

Which hd-build to go for?

As far as i am concerned i do not see the wood for the trees!
There are a few HD-BUILDS now. But not everybody knows if they are stable, fully working oder multiling foe example. And it gets even worse if one should choose one of them.
Not all users have the ability to test all of them - first and foremost because they are in active development and change by day
Can those users or cooks that tried more than one BUILD report their experiences?
How to the BUILDS compare?
At this point I'd have to recommend cedesmith's desire-hd2 build . It's incredibly fast - out of the box quadrant numbers are over 2000, some have reached 3000, but it's not just the numbers, everything flies. The battery life is great, last night overnight it used less than 5% over 7.5 hours. With his latest updates camera, camcorder are all working, and youtube is smooth now. You'll have to install the updates in post 2 after installing the build.
ok sounds great... Glad you compared a bit... battery-life is very important...
I've posted a poll about this question in the general forum so everyone is welcome to vote!
From my experience -
1. Firstly, there are 2 active kernels MDJ and hastarin. both are good and I can't decide which one to use. This has a lot of effect with data connection, battery life, etc...
2. Next, the build source (Nexus, Desire, DesireHD, mytouch 4g) - different features, interface style.
I personally tried most of the MCCM and MDJ builds. I like MCCM 1.7.1 (based on desire) and now trying out MCCM HD 1.1beta2 (based on Desire HD)
I cant decide at all... I would concider cedesmiths version, but for me it is to risky. Staying y mccms desire-build i think
