Voicemail too early - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way of hacking the phone to change the length of time before it send call to a voicemail? It seems to be falling in within 10 secs. Does it depend on a ringtone?

No, this is operator dependent.

**61*901*11*30# SND
this extends your ringtone to 30 seconds.

I am having this problem as well, I contacted my operator (vodafone uk) who instructed to do as the post above. I thought the problem has been solved until I met a friend who has just rang me, what is happening is that when someone rings my number they hear a ringing tone for the full 30 seconds but my phone only rings for the last 5 seconds, not giving me enough time to answer it. My friend stood beside me and rang my mobile to let me hear for myself what was happening. I have contacted vodafone again, but they cannot resolve the problem, in fact they did not seem very helpful as they said that they could not support the HTC Hero.

same problem
I am experiencing the same, very annoying problem.
I am with T-Mobile, I'll call them tomorrow to see if they have an answer.
I'll also try the code to see if it makes a difference on my phone.
I'll post the result here.

Thanks, this worked for me.

thanks guys for the solution, I thought I was on my own with this one. BTW, I did contact HTC support and they were very UNsupportive, shame.
I've loaded the code on my mobile, but testing will have to wait till the morning, as I have a sleeping gf next to me

Different solution
I tried **61*901*11*30# with success
I still spoke to T-Mobile technical and they gave me this code **61*447953642175**25#
This worked perfectly too

[Q] Phone does not respond to incoming calls

This is my first post, so I apologize if I forget anything. I did search for this question but couldn't find any threads related to this issue on this phone.
The short version: My phone sometimes doesn't respond to incoming calls. Outgoing calls work fine. I don't get missed call notifications and it takes hours to get voice mail notification. This is not a constant problem, if I reboot the problem goes away for a while. The length of time varies, but in less than a week, I'm back in this state.
The longer version: I got this phone at the end of November 2011. I started writing apps on it right away. I think it was in January that I first noticed that I was getting voice mails without missed calls. I went into the AT&T store and told them what I was seeing. They switched out the SIM card and told me to see if that fixed it. It didn't. I contacted AT&T tech support twice and they said they reset the notifications for my phone on their end. The problem persisted. A few days ago, I exchanged my phone for another unit. Now this unit is doing the same thing.
I have the smallest data plan, so I keep the packet data off most of the time.
I'm a software engineer working mainly in Windows Mobile, but seeing the popularity of Android, I wanted to get some experience in that, too. I've only been writing Android apps for a few months in my free time, so I don't have a lot of experience, but I can't imagine that the little apps I'm writing are causing this.
AT&T claims to have never heard of this before. How do I fix this? Please help me, XDA-Developers, you're my only hope.
Samsung Galaxy S2 from AT&T
Stock ROM
What other information can I provide?
Thanks!
Eric
You are not alone, m8.
It has happened to me all the time, I mean once in a while, never go away.
Since all call weren't really important, I just ignored.
Note: it happened on all of my phone from candy-bar style to flip-fone to smart phone.
Att is very likely screwing you. Don't trust those guys, they do lie...

[Q] Help! I might have been hacked by an incoming phone call!

Hello there everyone, I am new to these forums but I am not new to rooting and unlocking phones. I just made a huge jump from my good samsung galaxy prevail to an HTC one, which I just got a week ago.
Anyway, I am FREAKING OUT because 2 hours ago I received a call from an "unknown number", when I answered the call I heard someone putting me on hold and I started hearing background music. I waited for like a minute and nobody picked up so I hung up. I went to call history and saw that the phone # I was called from was: "1;p+1" (without quotation marks) so I decided to redial... and lo and behold my phone shows: USSD code running, followed by MMI complete. As soon as this happened I googled this occurrence searching for answers but I could not find anything. I ran a lookout scan and installed USSD/MMI Fix, but so far my phone seems to be acting normally. I restarted the phone and called Tmobile costumer care but they didn't have a clue. They said that they would call me back in case in they find out what is going on.
I am aware that MMI codes are internal phone commands that can pretty much do anything. I tried to look for 1;p+1 but that command is no where to be found maybe that code is "encrypted" for lack of a better term.
Any feed back is truly appreciated.
Thanks.
I don't think it's anything harmful, I have been getting calls from bill collectors showing up the same way. I think when you dialed back it was looking for those characters. I don't think you got hacked from it though.

Your phone just thought you were dialing a mmi code but it wasn't a proper code on the network. #225# (#Bal#) #646# (#min#) #web# and #num# are all valid codes you can use successfully on t-mobile without doing any harm.
Someone can make their caller id spoof to show crazy things but I haven't heard of a mmi hack. Those codes
are enabled on the network side be each carrier.

Service

Is anyone's T-Mobile service just suffering lately? I have had a terrible time with T-Mobile lately. My HTC One, before being replaced, couldn't send MMS or make calls because of "insufficient funds" even though my plan has unlimited for both. I got my phone replaced, and it was working for a few days, but then, I couldn't receive incoming calls. I had to switch my # like 4 times to no avail, the company retail location tried to get me to buy another 30 days and lose my money for the current month. I had to call the 1-800 #, they transferred my info and credit into a new account and the problem was solved. Here's the next issue: my dad cannot get phone calls to come in with his Galaxy Note II. It's insufficient when he cannot receive calls during work. I can get calls, but I am just annoyed with T-Mobile because they even refused to give me an unlock code even though I have used my HTC One in a time over 40 days and I have been with T-Mobile for years.

You didnt say where you were. Might have a better response if you asked "Is t-mobile service getting worse in Ames, Iowa" or something similar. T-Mobile is always upgrading, so it could be that there is something going on around your location. Most of the times this is for the better, once you get past the preparation phase.
As for the unlock code, call them back and get another person. They are by far the best of the big 4 in unlocking phones. Tell them you are leaving the country and need to be able to use a foreign sim.

I am in Miami, Florida. I doubt it is upgrading since two phones are "problems with the device" according to T-Mobile. I already replaced my old phone, so that was solved like I said, but their LTE coverage is really weak down here compared to the 40 up and 20 down other areas of the country see. I had problems again with my phone, but that was with my account for some odd reason, so my faith in T-Mobile is a little weak right now.

Multiple Dropped Calls - Galaxy S9 Plus G965F

I love my new S9Plus, but I am getting increasingly frustrated in the number of dropped calls I am having.
It doesn't seem to matter if I have several bars or only one or two - I am dropping calls at least 8 or 9 times a day. Even when I have 4 bars.
TOday at work I had four bars (download speeds of 26MB down on lte) and I dropped two calls while talking to my wife. Problem enough that I dropped the calls but my wife thinks I hung up on her.
I live in the US and am on ATT if that matters. I have used International Variants on my last four phones and never had this call drop problem before. NEVER.
I first wonder if there is something I can do about this? Is this caused by software or hardware in the phone? is there a way to test t his? (it is hard to anticpate when I will drop calls. I have had some calls last over 10 minutes without dropping and other times in the same location - call drop out after 1 minute.
Anyone else having this problem? Your help and input is greatly appreciated.
Am I the only one experiencing dropped calls? Signal Strength seems ok - but while talking calls just drop off - I watched the signal strength meter go away and instead saw a circle with a link thru it - no signal I guess - (I think my call would have dropped had I been on a call) for no apparent reason -
Anyone else having an issue with dropped calls or am I the only one?
I'm also having drop outs on Vodafone UK. Only happens when I've been on the phone for more then 5 mins
I had bad quality in calls, hardly understood what the other person said; changed the sim card, all ok now.

I have the samsung unlocked version and using Verizon on it, have not dropped any calls yet but it seems very static sounding. I love the phone, and only talk to my wife on the phone, everyone else I just text so not a huge issue with me.
To OP, this used to happen to me on S4/S7 when the phone would switch between LTE/WCDMA when suddenly I would get no network with signal disappearing and dropping calls. A new firmware fixed that issue in one case and in other case had to replace the phone itself. Can you try changing to "GSM only" to see if this is related to VOLTE at all or bands changing between LTS<=>WCDMA?
As for the static in call, it could be due to lack of VoLTE support.
I went to the ATT Store and they mentioned that ATT has been doing someting with enhanced calling stuff - said it might effect me - but I am not sure I get enhanced calling because I am not on a branded phone. I went ahead and got a new sim card thinking maybe that might help. Will see what happens over the next few days.
I do appreciate the comments - hope this is not a phone issue
I'm on T-Mobile and I am experiencing it as well, and no it's not the service as my One plus 5t doesn't drop any calls in the same area, same sim, same service. Even the Wifi was weak.
I did a support call with Samsung and they advised me to return it.. I ordered another one to see if that one is any better... I'm hoping... If not that will go back as well.

I just got my s9 with att today and am in the states. I'm having the same issue. I have also noticed it is super delayed in sending images via text as well.
I have the issues on my s9 on Vodafone UK there is also a post in the s9 forums about it
It's seems to be affecting a few people and it seems global
So let's hope a FW update fixes it and that the update come soon ar I will return the handset
First the finger print sensor issues. Now this!
My one week old s9+ gave me trouble with the fingerprint error that got fixed with the update. But now my device is dropping almost every other call. Short or long it doesn't matter. I could make calls with no drops in the same spot using the same sim card on my s7 edge. Heading to Samsung tomorrow. Not quiet happy! Device is unlocked. Bought directly from Samsung and I live in Bahrain.

Returning mine today one thing I expect a phone todo is make calls. Most other things I can wait to be fixed.
Going back to my oneplus 5t which I actually think is a better phone
Unless you are using an AT&T S9+ (or one running AT&T firmware), you will drop calls on AT&T because they won't let your phone use VoLTE and it will try and drop to HSPA , which is being reduced network wise every day.
Getting the phone replaced with a new one.
I was delayed a couple of days because of work but I went to samsung today and they did extensive system tests that did not show anything more than a simple log that says "call drop due to weak network" which is not the case. However, I asked them to manually check it by making calls and keeping in on speaker and 2 out of 3 calls dropped and they got it recorded on camera. Now I'm waiting for my replacement. Hopefully this was a flaw in the first batch or something as my device was one if the first here in the country. Also I almost missed my 15 days replacement time frame. Otherwise they would've fixed it instead. Pheww what a relief. If you are experiencing this issue run to your closest Samsung service center and get it replaced.

Seriously!! What a disappointment after being excited about being one of the first people to own the device. I had 2 serious issues from the day I purchased it. Fingerprint sensor then dropped calls. My replacement device will be ready for pickup on Saturday. If it works perfectly I'm willing to forgive them. If not I'm going to demand my money back ! I did not pay around 1000$ for the device so I can drive to service center 3 times in 13 days and end up using my S7 edge again!

In the UK they offered to allow me to return it for replacement but would take about 20 days to get another handset so I have returned it for refund
I strongly suspect your replacement maybe the same.. I think it's a software issue that will need a FW update
Still I will be getting my cash back have decided to buy a new rifle instead

20 days!?! That's a long long time. I'd take the money like u did. They promised to give me a new device by Saturday so let's see. Otherwise I will take my money back and hold the purchase. Maybe I'll buy a different device altogether. Which sucks cuz I wanted the s9+ since it was rumored last year! Good luck with the rifle. Don't be shooting no Samsung employees lol

How do you address spoofed robocalls (neighbor spoofing) on your phone?

For few months now, I am getting robocalls from spoofed number, classic case of neighbor spoofing. Has anyone figured out how to address it?
I usually do not answer the calls and have deactivated voice mailbox as well, but sometimes I expect phone calls where I am not aware of the number. At that moment, I don't know if I should answer the call or not.
For example, last week, I was expecting a call back from the doctor. They have multiple numbers in the practice and I don't any of those numbers. I have central number only. The doc tried calling me 5 times but I didn't answer the call because the number was not known to me. Finally, he sent me a mail on the portal and asked me to call back. So I did. I apologized profusely and luckily, he didn't mind as he is facing same issues.
I am trying to avoid such situation again.
Apps like Robokiller and similar haven't worked in my case. I have Pixel XL, fully updated, rooted but as many claim, I never get red screen on spam calls. I am using Hiya (free) too, but it isn't of much help either. I am on at&t MVNO Airvoice Wireless, if it makes any difference.
Thanks for all ideas in advance.
