IMAG to Date renames image files, JPG, GIF, and BMP to Date Formatted filenames, MMddyyyyHHmm_RID (R.I.D. Random ID). The dates are based on the Date when the file is created.
You’ll probably hate the way Camera application saves the image file, which was “IMAG####.jpg”. This kind of naming will cause a problem when backing up the image files in your PC/MAC specially when the file already exists in your backup drive but different picture, the only thing you could do is to rename the file in your mobile device. For example, you have “IMAG0050.jpg” in your mobile phone and you want to move that in your PC/MAC but a file “IMAG0050.jpg” already exists but has different picture? Probably the first thing you’ll do is to rename “IMAG0050.jpg” in your mobile device into something different.
Now to make things easier, IMAG to Date is created to help from that problem.

Really useful!
But is it possible to customize the renaming pattern? For example yyyy-MM-dd_HH-mm-ss

oist! glad to know! maraming salamat!

very usefull, thanks a lot.
another user interested in a yymmdd pattern (my way to classify files), even more if the pattern can be customized
anyway thanks for this very first solution

i just tried it... is there a way to change the default folder (open)?

@solrac_
currently I'm designing a way to make things easier ..
You can format it in any way you like.
@TheRem
yes, click Menu>Select Folder

i mean when starting the program, it automatically opens My Documents folder but i like it to open the DCIM folder as the startup folder.

@TheRem
Actually, I based the location in registry "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Pictures\StorageCardPath" thought it was the default Camera path but it turns out that the value set in StorageCardPath is the last location of the Pictures and Videos application path.
I have to look deeper in registry. I'll ask Resco Registry tool

IMAG to Date is available in freewarepocketpc.com

and it's been downloaded 150 times in first release. Man I hope they'll be updated in the next release.

Great idea !
BUT
I can't seem to install it...
it's an .exe file... what to do with it ?

@Tourist
Microsoft Windows 101
.EXE (EXEcutable Application) is basically a program that you can launch in Microsoft Windows platform.
You can actually find hundreds of .EXE files in your Windows Desktop/Mobile (thousands in Desktop) so don't be shocked if you found them and DO NOT delete!

good idea

that's a very nice little poem you wrote there.
I know what an .exe file is.
what I meant (just like the next post after yours) is that I have no idea how to install or launch the app.

Ever wanted to know how you can use low-res (176*220) titles on your QVGA phone?

If you have a QVGA Smartphone like the HTC Vox / s710, you know well enough that most existing games and other graphics-based Smartphone apps (Windows Mobile 6 Standard) out there only use a postage-stamp sized screen area. An example of this is PDAMill’s Flux Challenge, which, being designed for the traditional low-res (176*220) Smartphone resolution, only uses part of the available QVGA screen estate:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
There were no widely known solutions for the problem. Some developers announced support for QVGA devices (for example, that of Cell Doom – see announcement HERE), but the most (including PDAMill) didn’t.
Fortunately, an excellent White Russian coder has come up with a generic solution, which not only makes it possible to run MANY (but not all!) games at full screen, but, in cases, also lets for using real (!) QVGA resolution with some titles (for example, emulators).
Downloading, installing
Go to this MoDaCo thread and download the ZIP file attached to the first post. You’ll need to register as a forum user if you aren’t able to access it. If you don’t want to bother with it, I’ve also uploaded the file to my database back-end; it’s HERE.
After this, just unZIP it and start GxQvga Patcher.exe. Should you encounter an error message complaining about the lack of the .NET Framework 2, you will need to download it HERE (note that some stated it only requires 1.1. I haven’t checked whether they’re right. The latter is accessible HERE.)
Using
This patcher app runs on the desktop, NOT on the Smartphone. This means you must transfer the main EXE file of the game / emulator / app you’d like to make use of the QVGA screen to your desktop computer first. To do this, use for example Total Commander with the CE file system patch (see THIS for an explanation of installing it) or, if you don’t want to bother, just the “Explore” button of ActiveSync.
Transfer the main EXE files (but nothing else) of the apps / games you’d like to patch to the directory of where the above-mentioned, just decompressed GxQvga Patcher.exe resides.
Now, start GxQvga Patcher.exe. It will present you a dialog:
In there, click “Select exe file to patch...". Now, select the EXE file you’d like to patch:
After letting it go on, you’ll be presented a message telling you the patching was successful:
Now, all you need to do is:
Copy the patched EXE file back to your MS Smartphone, making sure you overwrite the original EXE file
Go to the QVGA subdirectory on your desktop (just under the directory where GxQvga Patcher.exe resides), and copy XG.dll to the same directory on your smartphone
Start the game / app to see whether it worked; answer Yes to the message.
If the game / app still only uses 176*220 (and not the full screen), exit it and go to the SCALE (NOT the previous QVGA!) subdirectory on your desktop, and copy XG.dll to the same directory on your smartphone and copy XG.dll to the smartphone, making sure you overwrite the previously copied QVGA XG.dll. Now, start the game on your Smartphone. Hope it’ll use the full screen. If it still doesn’t do this, then, nothing can help, I’m afraid.
Examples of the before-after cases
PocketHobbitSP2003 (as of the current, Alpha 11 version) doesn’t support QVGA devices. As can be seen in the following screenshot, without patching, it only uses a stamp-size screen area in Portrait mode on QVGA devices:
http://www.winmobiletech.com/062007C64Emus/c64EmuDefaultStamp.bmp.png
After the patch and using the QVGA DLL, it becomes much bigger and, what is even more important, makes use of the full horizontal screen reoslution – that is, 240 pixels, resulting in MUCH more readable text:
http://www.winmobiletech.com/062007C64Emus/PatchedSEQVGAP.bmp.png
Incidentally, with the SCALE DLL, it also fills in the entire screen horizontally, BUT only upscaling the original, 176*132 rendition resulting in a MUCH inferiour real resolution & readability:
http://www.winmobiletech.com/062007C64Emus/PatchedSPVersionScaleDLLQVGAPortrait.bmp.png
This is why I’ve emphasized you MUST give a try to the QVGA DLL first and only give a try to the SCALE one when the former doesn’t deliver any results.

Please do not "copy & paste" as noted by people this will not work... just type it in and you are set.
If you have any cabs feel free to e-mail [email protected] the cab(s) with a description to the purpose of the cab so I can add it to my site. If you have a ROM and you are the author of the ROM, please list the model of phone the rom is for any any descriptions or link to thread that you would like in the description. Please do not send me a rom via e-mail as it will be rejected instead send me a link to it and I'll download it and host it... I have temporarly issued a 10mb incoming limit for e-mails
I will host any "ROM" that is sent to me by the auther of the ROM or requested to host. I will "NOT" randomly search for latest versions of the rom and it is up to the provider to post the ROM to me.
PS: to see how popular a file is... you can highlight the picture of the file icon (by the checkbox) and it will say how many times it was downloaded... I just (finally) found this out after searching for it lol

Awesome, this is a great resource. Wow! So many ringers that I did not know about, hehe, thanks.
Also, what script are you using for the site's file management GUI? I really like that I was able to click the "select all" box, and it let me download a zip of all the files. I know this is not related to the content of the original post, but I have my own webspace and am constantly looking for a better file index manager/display than the default text only listing.
Thanks

sorry for trying to help.
I log in just fine.
Didnt work for me until I tried not selecting a language.
I work 2 jobs and I only got 2 hours of sleep last night trying to get something started. I have problems finding files that were here in the past, that is my intent on the thread to help people get a centralized (not rapidshare or megashare) spot that they can download files. I also will try to add descriptions to the files as I have a chance to test them all.
Edit, I modified the script to not allow a language choice on load, so if you can't read english, tough luck for now.

Thanks Kclubb. Great idea.
Will be glad to see it when it is all set up. Will reduce some of our searching efforts.
problem?
I've tried downloading various things, and tried downloading the same thing on different computers, but I keep getting messages that the zip/rar files are corrupted. Common issue? resolution?
I downloaded a zip of all the ringtones, and about 7 to 8 inside the zip were corrupted.
I am guessing those zip files are created by the server based on what you choose, so the OP needs to fix the server side scripting with regards to the compressed file creation.
I have not had any problems downloading individual files.
Also, originally I could not login because I copy/pasted the username and password. It pastes default in character 2, and puts a space in front, even though I did not copy a space in front of the username, so its a safe bet to just type in the username/pass manually.

I have a question, what is generating the error, your program that unzips or trying to actually select is as a ringer and getting the error... if 2nd item then could you try downloading zip to pc and playing the files in windows media player. Another general note... if you use "winace" that zip manager has given me tons of issues w/ zips, rars files, and reccomend using winrar or the standard vista extractor. I've had 2 people test it on Ringers download and are both quoting no error message or problems playing the files and they were not on my network so I wanted to be sure that factor was ruled out...
Future thanks for any advise you guys can provide. I did also have like 10 server 2003 updates as it's been like 3 months since I restarted... so maybe that fixed the problem too
I use WinRAR to extract everything...zip, rar, 7z, etc...and it says "file is corrupted" on about 4 or 5 of the ringtones. but the ringtones are fine individually downloaded.

Just out of curosity, if you still have the files, try extracting them with the os unzipper just as a thought, I can't even get corrupt rar file msg w/ winrar though

Hi,
Tnx for your effort. I think the problem with some corrupted files lies in the fact that some of the filenames are not correctly applied. Some ringzz I downloaded did not have an extension, same as the PointUI that showed up without the *.cab extension.
Dirk
Thank you for putting all this in one place. It makes things so much easier.
Thank you very much. You have just made my life a whole lot easier. I was searching for these ringtones.

LnkMgr v0.0.2.7 Alpha Released
Now includes fix for shared folders and minor graphic improvements
LnkMgr is a link/shortcut creator and editor for the Pocket PC. It allows a user to effortlessly create and catagorize links en masse in the Start Menu folder. It also allows you to remove invalid shortcuts.
More information and downloads are available here: Please note the site may go up and down, Apache/Mono is kind of flaky.

Hi dtsouers,
You have created a little tiny tool that helps to organize things better.
One question from me for what i have found on your website:
>>P* is the Programs folder located in StartMenu
>>If nothing is specified it will go into the StartMenu
It is possible to move links to P*?
Sample: the *.lnk it is in the main directory of \startmenu\programs.
Now i will move it to \startmenu\programs\sample_dir.
Great app! Now only if it looked and functioned a little better.. I'd cook into into my ROM for good.
First you need to use the Category Editor to create sample_dir in P*.
Once that is complete, find your link in the list and change the category to sample_dir.

Do you have a bluetooth sharing folder on your device? I've seen a issue where sometimes that folder is not always accessible and can cause errors when I traverse the file system.

The network directory is NOT allways accessible.
Whoo linking managers; I like them!

I have to update my signature.
Now i have running the newest official htc ROM. This comes later on the day.
I will report later the rest of my tests, but so far so good.

[SOLVED] App to generate list of cabs installed to device?

I've got 'CabBatchInstall' on my device, which is useful, as it allows you to install a batch of cabs one by one to your device, after updating the ROM or doing a hard reset. You generate a list by pointing at the directory where you've stored them, and can then edit the text file down to only include the cabs you want to install, rather than the entire contents of the directory you've pointed at. See the application thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407885.
This got me thinking: Is there an app for 'interrogating' your phone to see what you have installed on it at a particular point in time? After all, what you have installed is listed at Settings > Application > Remove Programs > And if there is, or if not, but someone would produce this sort of thing, could it be made to 'talk to' or be an addition to 'CabBatchInstall', so that the list of installed apps is the one 'CabBatchInstall' uses to do the batch install after hard reset or new ROM?
Just so you're aware, I've made similar post to this on the application thread I've linked above.
you could try listing the folders in Windows\AppMgr to a text file - MortScript which should be capable of this
Thanks p107r0, but I'm a complete novice when it comes to programming, mortscript and everything like that.
Oh well, I suppose it was a nice idea...
thats an excellent idea for an app. Sometimes I'll finally have my device set up exactly the way i like but it usually takes me going through and doing alot of installing/uninstalling to figure out what i want to get to that point. Or i'll flash a nee rom and really only want the apps that i had previously. This would prove quite helpful. Before I always had to resort to going to the "remove programs" screen and from there i would just keep scrolling down the list of apps and take screenshots so atleast i would know what they were.

however in terms of price nothing beats the free stuff.
As for keeping track of installed apps, I prefer to just keep on my Storage Card an orderly folder with cabs (moreless similar to the structure used in XDA_UC), this way I always know what is installed and where, also whether it needs installing at all.

Where Does MetaMorph Store It's Files

Can someone please tell me where MetaMorph stores it's files/images once it loads a theme/etc.?
I'm not talking about "/AndroidThemes",..I'm talking about where it stores everything once it unzips a theme or lock-ring or whatever...
I installed a battery zip a while back and now they battery image just shows up randomly every once in a while...I wanna remove it from the device comletely & don't know where to look...
thanks.

I think you misunderstand how Metamorph acts. It actually changes permanently your patched system files to theme your apps. Depending on which part you are theming it patches different files.

ahh...I obviously did misunderstand....I figured there was a folder somewhere with all the files/images in it.
..I notice when I flash a new lock-ring, in my image gallery there's the lock-ring image and a "drawable-xhdpi" & "drawable-hdpi" images...that's what gave me the idea there was directory somewhere storing files...
is there a way to make the battery image I flashed a while back stop showing?

That's likely an extracted zip from Metamorph. I think I misunderstood your question.
In light of this new information, you can long press the image file, then press the context menu button then Properties (last menu) and at the bottom of the dialog window you should see the path to the file. You can navigate to this directory using a file browser and create a file named ".nomedia" without the quotes. This will make the media scanner not scan this folder and thus you won't see it in the gallery.
Example:
File is located in /sdcard/Metamorph/theme1/folder
Create a .nomedia file in /sdcard/Metamorph/
Everything in this folder and the folders in it will not get indexed.

I appreciate your help!
this explains alot, but the problem I'm having is (see screenshot below please) on the top-left-hand side in the notification bar you'll see the small blue battery icon..I flashed that through MetaMorph maybe 2-3 different ROMs back, I'd say at least 3 weeks ago, and, at the time, the battery icon didn't show for some reason....and hasn't since then...
now it just showed up out of nowhere
I flashed a new ROM a few days ago (battery icon did NOT show up then) and then last night it just showed up....outta nowhere...
I want to get rid of it but, unlike the "drawable" lock-screen images in my image gallery, this actual icon/image is nowhere to be found (or seen)...
is there a way to remove it?
I mean I thoroughly wipe the cache(s) & system a few times before each new ROM so it kinda has me confused why it just showed up all of a sudden...

If you've flashed another ROM then that's not coming from anything you've done with Metamorph. The system files that would have been modified would be gone.

that's exactly what I thought....I checked the OP for the current ROM I'm using and there's nothing about extra battery icons....the ONLY time this icon was ever on my phone was back when I flashed it a few weeks ago...and then it didn't show after the flash....
makin me crazy...
