usb mouse - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Accessories

does the touch pro 2 have the ability to use a mouse with it ???

USB is a host/client interface. The TP2 is a client, not a host, so no. I am curious about it's ability to use bluetooth peripherals though, would be cool to use blue tooth game pads with emulators.

I thought the input of the TP2 was called Mini-USB? So why can't a (mini)-usb device work together with the TP2 per definition?

Mini-usb is a connector size. USB is a host-client interface (one device is the HOST, one is the CLIENT), and your phone only works as a CLIENT, not a HOST. The hardware is actually different.
Some phones actually DO have the HOST hardware included, but no drivers included to make it work. There was a USB-HOST set of drivers hanging around here somewhere for some phones, but I don't know if anyone's ever tried with the rhodium.

somewhere reported as non functioning
do you think it might work with a bt mouse?? used to have one for htc universal... simply fantastic!! where to find drivers though? I lost the cd coming with it..

years ago I have had a bt mouse with on WM. Cant remember what the mouse was called or the software it used, But I still have it at home somewhere. I could check. Maybe storeaway, would that be it? It was cool to have a little cross on the screen.

Stowaway probably... mine is called "stowaway bluetooth travel mouse"!
if we find the drivers, and if it is compatible with wm6.1 / wvga and all the rest, we could manage to use the TP2 as a little netbook, like the old good days with the htc universal! that would be simply great!

I don't actually have TP2 yet, but there's a piece of software called Bluemouse, which is supposed to let you use a Bluetooth mouse with your device, and there's a trial which you can use to see if it works or not. As for the Zeno USB host drivers, apparently they don't work with the TP2, nor most of the HTCs with Qualcomm chipsets, since there is no host capability.

Mouse Pointer!!!!

Yeah!!
Windows Mobile 6 has the mouse pointer for USB mice!!!!
Cant even get mine working. MS Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth. Doesnt work.
No pointer, no movement either.
I guess its too much for MS to make their own products work together.
I have tried it with a trust usb mouse, plugged it in then reset device, worked smooth, really like the pointer. then I thought I wonder if my logitech wireless works, plugged it in and it works no problems, I am typing, this with the keyboard now. but the wireless mouse is excellent.
dude i used teksoft mouse software... i connected the mnd everything..and even the software started and i can click some things on the pocket pc and even scroll...BUT THE MOUSE POINTER JUST WON'T SHOW UP!!!
With my Logitech v270, it works flawlessly. With my Microsoft BT mouse I get nothing. Anyone wants to buy a Microsoft mouse? ;-)
No Thanks, I have one.
Thanks for driving up the ebay price on the Logitech V270 everybody

I had a problem with a Microsoft mouse also. I called Microsoft and they said their mice aren't compatible with Windows Mobile. LOL
Leave it up to Microcrap to do something this stupid.
I'm currently using an Anycom mouse and it works perfectly. Also looks much sexier than the Microcrap mice and is smaller, etc etc. This mouse works with native WM6 support and also BlueMouse software. I've since uninstalled BlueMouse since I don't need it any longer now that WM6 has native support.

You are asking the wrong question. Most people here support developers so you will make people upset. Go google elsewhere and who knows what you might come up with.
Joystick support?
Does anyone have a bluetooth joystick? I'm curious if it would work with this software, if yes I would buy one.

Mouse and Athena.... useless (except as wow effect) if you aren't using a TV or other external screen, a MUST on external screen!
In this case without a mouse you have to tap on the ATHENA screen when you are looking to the other screen! Really unconfortable
That's the reason I am using an USB mouse connected with the HTC 4 in 1 cable (expansys), (ext out and mouse) . Usb mouse are smaller than BT ones, no batteries to charge, some of them have retractable cable and the Athena power consumption is less

Tv remote control

*update, the conclusion is that the current software is useless and as of the ppc6800 and the following HTC models, the IRDA port is either crap or non-existent, for that reason I am building a powered, universal adapter to turn any phone into a remote*
hello. first off, yes I know there are old threads about this, but they are dead and had a different take on this topic. I am looking to know if anyone has gotten any tv remote control software working on the mogul. I don't care about the distance so I dont want to hear about how the mogul is ill-equipped to do this, I just want to know what software works as I will use\make a IR repeater\booster that will give me all the range I need.
I have tried the following software
1-PDAWin tv remote controller simply crashes when I press any button
2- noviiRemote is not compatible with our IR
3- RemoteControl II v.2.12 stays it is incompatible with our processor and for that reason, it turns off the IR access... but the rest of the software works ??? odd
4- UniversalRemoteCE 4.0 Tested by wagonis, froze his phone with every try
5- Total Remote does not work, freezes when I try to record a signal.
Untested
6- UltraMote
can't find
7- VITO remote
so to recap. Has anyone found a working software? I will give a free IR booster\repeater to anyone who can point me to a proper and working programmable universal remote control software that works over IR and not the web (or even better, anyone who can get PDAWin tv remote working )
thanks.
Honestly, I've tried 4 different softwares from that list and none worked, if anything they kept crashing my phone...so I gave up before I caused any damage to my phone. If you figure out which one works though, please list it, I'd like to know and try it.
can I know which was teh 4th that did not work so I can update my list please?
UniversalRemoteCE 4.0 froze up my phone every time I tried to use it
Many have tried. I am pretty sure no one has succeeded.
in my best Airplane - The Movie voice
"good luck, we're all counting on you"
my best suggestion is to buy an older known compatible phone with stronger irda
i looked into it a bit ago and came up with a good solution and found two of the phones on ebay for $20...but never bought them
i know it would be convenient to use our daily cell for this feature...but its an uphill battle
dont give up...lol
double post
Since the whole software thing does not seem to work... I am going to set out on making my own! My goal is to make a universal-universal remote app; even cross-platform, and the way I will do this is with external hardware. Since most new phones do not have a good IR port, I will make an external IR port that plugs into phones, mark my words!
I will keep people up to date on this
I'll subscribe to this thread to keep tabs on this. Good luck.
Well I am very excited to say that things are moving along nicely. Unfortunately, my local electronics supply shop (that is actually worth going to) is closed during weekends since its a small business who's main clients are engineering students during the year . This means that My full prototype (with range booster) will have to wait, but the basic premise is working, and, depending on my schedule, I should have a working prototype soon. I have already gotten in contact with a few chinese companies to compare the price of production of the modules.
well, the project is coming along well, but I need some input from the community. 1 is a note, 2 is the important question.
1- the software will be open source. The exact format still has to be determined, but the main lead right now is java so that i can be universal for all phones (except the Iphone that will need its own app).
2- Should it be powered or not? The module is coming along well, but I need some input. If it is powered, I have to make the tough decision between having the ext-usb plug sticking out on the edge of the board, meaning you have a 9v battery dangling from your phone or a short cable (1-2 feet) that plugs in the ext-usb port and the module rests next to you. What is the best route for this? (Ideally I would love bluetooth, but I do not have the electronic know-how for this)

Why not make all? Powered and not. Corded and not. Are you encasing the electronics? If just for the Mogul how 'bout a phone case type add on putting the IR port on the right end of the phone while you're at it so we don't have to rotate our screens? That being said, with the Mogul getting dated, how 'bout for newer phones lacking IR ports all together like the touch pro and touch pro 2? Oh, maybe someone could help you out with bluetooth.
Well its not just for the mogul, it is going to work universally for all HTC phones and will be one little tweak away from working with other phones.
As far as corded or not, I think I will make it non corded and then you can just add it. It will cost a few cents extra but save alot on production costs of 2 different modules (if I go with powered, unpowered can easily be both).
The reason I am not doing powered and unpowered is that the powered requires a case and a battery and starts getting a little big (the size of half a thumb approximately), while the unpowered one is about 0.5mmx0.5mm. Also, making the powered one requires a much greater production cost as it would be made in china because if I make it myself, the powered one would be about 4 inches by 2 inches as I can't make the small traces myself, many of the parts are hard to come by and suftace mount is hard to do.
The reason that none of the programs work is because they require raw IR port access, not the IRDA protocol.

lol I hear ya. Everything is being delayed because the store I usually go to was selling IR LEDs for 4 bucks and they don't specify voltage so I had to order some online. I just need to get that stupid LED so that I can be done with the hardware and get working on the software.
I am still waiting on those diodes. I bought molding and casting material so that our IR emitters will look better than a loose set or components soldered on an extusb port
Anyone going to china who can buy ExtUSB ports for 50 cents with the breakout port? I got that quote from a company but I don't like sending unsecured payments and 10$ per extusb port + breakout board is going to make it pretty expensive for us. If so, let me know, I would like to buy a batch.
thanks.
since our device will work on many phones, instead of creating threads in every forum of every device, we decided to opt for a twitter account where we will keep everyone up to date on this project.

Found this thread searching for a Bluetooth to IR converter, so I could use my Rhodium as a universal remote.
I was wondering... since all modern smartphones have Bluetooth, why not make a powered BT -> IR converter, which uses the HID standard? Since most phones have a HID application already (my old SE K750i could be used to control my desktop computer with HID), you don't need a lot of development on the phones itself. You'd need a way to program the conversion table (key 5 -> send PLAY IR sequence), I guess. You could then have a simple HID remote on simple phones or a full blown custom skinnable remote on a WVGA smartphone.
It would really be nice to have a Philips Pronto (or similar) universal remote where you can operate all sorts of equipment.
unfortunately, working with bluetooth at that level would be well beyond my expertise and bring the cost up $$$$$ because of the low volume of production. Also, making the drivers for this would be much harder and way to phone-specific, killing the intent of this device. Also, the way this works, it should work with any standard IR device.
I have a p4000 and am upgrading to a touch pro2, when I upgrade again in 2 years, I don't want to have to start the project over .
Finally, bluetooth device = more components = bulkier and = batteries!
I am getting back home late tonight and I will get back to work on the project (got the LEDs the day I was leaving).
ps. I do appreciate all feedback and comments.
thank you

Hero board in a G1 housing?

Anyone know if you can put the motherboard and guts of a hero in a G1 housing giving you the ability to use the physical keyboard of the g1 with the better memory ect of the hero?
it would get messy, the screens are a different size, ahah and if you kept the g1's screen it would take alot of programming i think to get it to work
i wouldnt say its impossible, but arnt there ways of using bluetooth keyboards?
id suggest figuring that out!
Bluetooth keyboards are certainly an option. There are two commercial apps in the market which support them. One for SPP & one for HID (the two BT profiles, serial port profile & human interface device, which BT keyboards can use), so most keyboards should work with one or the other. As it happens, I'm waiting for delivery of a Freedom Pro, from Handtec, atm.
It's probably not actually impossible, but if you had to ask then it's not something you could do.
I'd say it's practically impossible in that no one would ever do it.
OT: The poster above mentioned 2 apps for using a BT keyboard.. what are they and do either support the original old freedom BT kb?
It's possible, but as far as I'm aware you'd need to write new drivers for communicating with the physical keyboard, and the older screen/buttons, etc.

BlueInput & KeyPro. Can't get either to work with the Freedom Pro on a 1.5 gsm Hero (they support many phones running 1.5). Hero seems to be lacking something under 1.5 that most other devices have.

[Q] Genius maxfire pandora pro joystick

anyone happen to know if the GTab is able to use USB joysticks? I'm looking at this as a potentially awesome portable joystick to use with my gtab for emulation:
http://www.amazon.com/Genius-Pandor...07AA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296412959&sr=8-1
It looks great, but I fear there are no drivers for the standard gamepad. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on this, let me know. For the meager 12 bucks, I think Ill buy one anyway. Looks like it would make a nice joystick for my laptop anyway.
that thing is awesome! let me know if it works
I haven't tried a gamepad with my tablet yet, however if it doesn't work for you, take a look at loading Clemsyn's kernel. According to the thread, it has gamepad support compiled into it.

total bummer. If there is gamepad support, writing a joystick to keyboard wrapper wouldn't be impossible... and that would allow it to at least work on any game/emulator that supports keyboard emulation. I just ordered one tonight to start working on it if the gamepad is supported by the kernel. it would be really helpful if you're using clemsyn's kernel, if you could paste the lower portion of your kernel logs immediately after plugging in your gamepad using "adb shell dmesg" . Of course you'll need teh sdk for that. Or if you don't have the SDK installed, you can always do "dmesg > /sdcard/kernel.log" from a root shell, and then either attach the kernel.log file from your internal memory or just paste the contents.
Thanks!
This is mini USB (which is th Host port) though. Have you tried a full sized USB Gamepad in the Slave port. I think this is more likely to work.
If there is an adapter like this one would work.

[Q] Help setting up XBOX 360 Wired USB controller with Photon 4G

Hey Guys
First post here....
I am looking for info on how to set up a Xbox 360 wired (USB) controller on my Motorola Photon 4g. While searching around, i came to the conclusion that i'll need a Kernel that supports USG OTG or USB Host Mode, and, i think in theory,
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15806590/diagram2.png (also attached)
the above diagram should work. (Courtesy [Guide] USB Gaming on Nexus S Thread )
The problems are
i) my photon is on its way home, so i cant test anything here atleast for the next 3-4 days.
ii) I do not know of a kernel compatible with photon that supports USB Host mode.
iii) in the above diagram, the supply from the USB charger/Adapter goes to both the Phone's USB, as well as the Controller's USB power lines. Would that not be a problem for the phone? i mean why should i be inputting +5V on the power lines of the phone's USB? could it potentially damage the phone? I've played with an iPod's USB, and i am scared.
Can u guys help me in the points above?
P.S the above image was taken from Nexus S USB Gaming Thread on xda forums.
Also, i wont be buying a 99USD HD Docking Station to use the Controller or other Peripherals.
Regards
USB Host is not the issue as the Photon supports USB Host out of the box so any blur based rom should work just fine. Not sure about the CM7 or CM9 family of roms. I remember having to push pretty hard just to get BT mouse support for CM7 on the Evo.
The main issue you will run into is driver support for the controller. The XBox controller gives a device not recognized. PC controllers may be hit or miss but I've tried four or five with no success. Your best options are WIImote w/ classic controller or PS3 controller running over Bluetooth. If cost is a concern then look at off brand WII and PS3 controllers or get one used.
Another thing you will need to consider is game support. You would think a game like Galaxy on Fire 2 would support controllers but it does not. Only a handful of games support controller input directly the rest require custom input mapping and third party apps like "Sixaxis Controller" or "Wiimote Controller", to name a few. You will also find that proper analog mapping is generally limited to pay apps and when using the controller it acts as you input for the phone and not just games.
I guess I could put together a "Photon as game console" guide but am a bit buried in projects right now.
@Lokifish Marz,
does that mean even in USB Host Mode, the Photon 4G would require Device Drivers to be ported for android first and then it'll be able to work with the device? Its a little strange because i have read a lot on these forums, and none pointed out that we needed any drivers, all the posts said was that USB OTG/ USB Host Mode is required. (all the Nexus S gaming threads just ask one to install a particular kernel having USB Host Support, which the Photon already has, and plus an app in market namely USB Host Controller by SzTupY)
Game support ofcourse has been taken in mind.A few Tegra 2 games support Controllers, i mean the ones that actually need a controller (as in it would be better to play them with a controller)
Apart from the drivers (which with all due respect to u, i need to be reassured about, because of what i have read in the posts, plus, on other Android phones, specially the Nexus S, people have reported other Controllers working too) what about the Schematic diagram i made above? would it work fine according to you?
Please don't mind if i said anything offensive in the post, i respect all you are doing for the projects you are working on, especially the photon projects and u must be knowing way better than me
Regards
Plug an XBox360 controller into the USB port on a lapdock or HD Dock. Result, "USB Device not recognized. Supported devices includes USB Storage, keyboards and mice." In short, no drivers. If you see somebody using a usb controller on a phone, pay close attention to the phone that's being used. Example, the GS III is a freak of nature. I'd kill for 500GB external drive support.
Different phones support different things. The original Nexus had a mod that allowed for use of usb graphics cards. The original Evo's hardware supported usb host but drivers were never written for it.
Again, your best and most trouble free option is a bluetooth controller.
If it helps give you an idea as to where I'm coming from. I've been trying to get a phone/tabletdock/lapdock/mediapc/carpc/gameconsole built since about 2003 so I feel your pain.
@Loki
Would a build of CM9 help me getting the controller working? i mean the CM9 beta builds or CM7.2 ? as i already have a Wired controller, i'd want support for that only.
plus what can be some other controllers supported?
Now i want the Photon 4G gaming guide u know....I bet everyone who has a Photon would be glad if u make one.

I believe he already answered this when he said to use bluetooth controllers. Use a p3 or a wii controller.
@rexxxgg
when i asked him what others are supported, i meant what controllers else than the PS3 bluetooth and the WIImote controller are supported. On IM it was clarified that any Generic/non Sony but -for PS3- controller should be working fine with this phone, and that was what i was precisely asking.
