Closing down the browser properly - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it actually possible to close down the browser (without doing a force close)? e.g. let's say I have four windows open and I want to close them all ... I select menu > windows > close each one down ... but there's always one window that can't be closed.
This is fine if you're on wi-fi, but what if you're out and about on data and the page automatically updates? I guess you'd have to open another non-updating webpage and close the other one.
Or am I missing something? Is it possible, other than through an app manager, to close it properly?
Thanks
SC

Use a task manager.
ex. Advanced Task Killer Free

theoretically, once the browser is no longer the app with focus, it hibernates and does not download anyway...
but yeah, task managers work.

Internet related apps

Hi everyone, I got a little question for you: I've noticed that everytime I activate data connections on the phone, all google apps and other internet related apps start automatically in background. is there a way to stop this behaviour?

You can install a task manager like advanced task killer, and add the services and apps that automatically start to the autokill list. That way, if any app shall start, the task killer shall automatically kill the app.
allready tried with this but still programs are autostarting...

Open applications - do we need a task manager ?

Anyone have an idea if we need to add a task manager that will close open applications when we move from one application to the other ?
Does the Jetstream close the applications by its own task manager ?
I didn't manage to find out, anyone has a clue ?
You shouldn't need a task manager, Android manages it very well on it's own. If an app does misbehave just go into settings/applications and close it there.

looking for taskmanagement app (not killer!)

Hi, I like android for the multitasking but i think it is done in a bad way. I wish the 'task management' would behave more like for example a windows taskbar.
I have open apps. I can switch between them. I can close those apps (ok i dont care if they stay in memory, i just dont want them cluttering my 'app switcher').
Also when I re-open a 'closed' app, i want it to start from the beginning, not where I left it. Only the apps that i keep in the 'taskbar' should stay where i left them.
Basicaly, simply the way a windows taskbar works. Even if you close interner explorer, it does stay in memory, but it appears closed. It starts up very fast coz its in memory, but because you closed it, it starts from the 'begining' (unless otherwise specified).
I hate to have 2 different 'settings' apps open both pointing to some 2ndary settings app and they open somewhere i left them, but maybe I want to do a whole new thing? I then have to press back multiple times to get where i want. Or Opera staying open all the time, and when i'm done browsing i want to quit it. I don't care if it stays in memory, i just want it to get out of the task switcher and start from the 'beginning' when i re-open it. I hate opening opera and it has 3 taps open from something i was looking for earlyer but i don't care anymore. I then have to close those 3 tabs to get a new clean browsing experience.
Understand? I wish someting like this would exist, but they all want to 'kill' tasks. I don't want that. I just want them to APPEAR they are closed. Also i only want to do that with APPS. Not processes or even services.
I hope the task switcher in icecream cookie will be like this!

[Q] how to make full exit from stock browser in ics?

hi how can i preform a total exit from stock browser in ics (with sense4)?
i mean, all the time that i'm exsiting from the browser, when i open it again it shows me the last page i was, instead my home-page like in the computer browser. so i wanna know how i'll be able to preform a totall exit, so when i'll enter again the browser it will show me my home-page?
sorry for my spelling,
tnx.
Go to browser settings > tab settings > uncheck restore tabs.
I don't know if it's a bug in the browser or in ICS or in the rom I use but if I turn off the restore tabs setting the browser always crashes when I open it after it's been killed. I open the browser and nothing happens. I try to go to my bookmarks and the browser force closes. I open the browser again and the same thing happens. It works fine after the third attempt.
did u already tried pressing back until exit? when u did that,go to task manager and close it. I seldom use stock browser because of that..

Android by design kill tasks when the resources become sparse. For this to work, an app must be able to request to be restarted once this occurs - the app (or more correct, "service") is sticky. This is why when you close the facebook app, it's restarted within seconds anyway.
If you are running Android 4 (ICS) or later, you can tell the phone not to autostart apps at boot directly from the Settings menu. Enter settings -> apps -> all, select e.g. Facebook, then click the button "Disable". Now it's gone, and for real this time! The disable button is at the place on the "Uninstall" button, and uninstallable apps are not possible to disable this way - but you can always remove them.
Some apps are neither disable nor uninstallable, though.
But if the autostart app is parental control r something like that, it wold be harder. Firstly the thing would not let you to settings. You could fool it when some settings notification appears, like there is wifi, by clicking on it you will get there without a problem, but you would not be able to delete it. To deal with it, I do personally recommend this: Root your device, get total commander for android (no, trust me, ES would not make it), open TC, get to mnt/asec where are stored installed apps files, find folder attached to that app, change the permisions that everybody could write in it, change ownership and group to some of your other apps and delete that folder. At the end, there shoul be emty folder with an emty folder in it. That should **** up the app so much that its not going to work anymore. Now you can do whatever you want.
Use Purify app
u can use boot manager module in xposed
I'm using clean master and it allows me to bock these app from autostarting.
It can solve by greenify pro smartly. You can google for greenify. After installing greenify (xposed installer) (need allow some feature) allow the modules it will work 100℅. If any errors message me on Facebook/n3xt2u
