Extending Delay before going to Voicemail - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If you are on Orange and find that you phone is diverting to Voicemail too quickly is there a setting in the phone to extend the length of time that the phone rings before being diverted to Voicemail... or does this require a call to Orange to set up.

I rang Orange and they gave me this:
- in the phone screen, "dial": **61*07973100123*11*xx#
"xx" is how long you want it to go on for before voicemail picks up (for example "20"
- hit the "call" key
This should setup the voicemail to come on after 20 seconds for example
Give that a try! Worked for me

Thanks for the reply, after searching through the phone and could not find a function to perform this I rang Orange and can confirm as above that they told me to input the same number.
This is probably specific to Orange but it does work... Thanks again for the reply

Excellent tip, many thanks.

Why dose it not ring for longer

A simple question (I hope!)
It seems that my XDA only rings for about 3 rings before going to the voice mail. Does anybody know how to tweak the settings so that it rings for longer to give me a chance to answer the call.
Thanks in advance.

I'm also interested in knowing this even if I suspect its a carrier setting and not a XDA one...
Like Dragonli said, itÅ› a carrier setting. There are special codes to do so. Don't know if they are different from carrier to carrier. Normaly the values are between 5 and 30 seconds.
Just take a look at your providers homepage and search for the string.
You can also try
**61*Phonenumber**Timevalue in sec (5,10,15,20,25 oder 30)# to turn it on
##61# to turn it off
*#61# to check.
This are the numbers for Germany. Hope that it works...
Regards
Stefan
In the US for T-Mobile it is:
**004*+15203319999**_ _#
Instead of _ _ put in time before forwarding, 10-30 seconds in increments of 5 seconds
Instead of 5203319999 put in the lead number for your voice mail (varies by location).
Thanks LumpiStefan!! Same for Belgium...
Thanks All.
I checked with my network and it's exactly the same for TMobile UK as it is for Stefan in Germany.

Divert to voicemail ???????????????/

Hi Guys,
my xda seems to only ring a few times before going to voicemail,
i am sure there is a way you can set the time
anyone kindly advise?
thanks
Ali
please
There is a dial string you can send, but it varies by carrier and location. What carrier and where? You might also just call them and have them set it, or tell you the code.
For T-Mobile USA:
**004*+15203319999**_ _#
Instead of _ _ put in time before forwarding, 10-30 seconds in increments of 5 seconds.
Instead of the phone number above, use whatever your local voice mail lead number is (usually area+prefix+9999).
thanks a lot for your supply.
I am with Orange in the UK.
Any ideas?
cheers

number of rings before answering

Can any one help the phone only rings 3 times before going to answer machine is ther any way of increasing this ,i have tried setting the auto answer but this doesnt do anything
It's not that the phone only rings three times, it's that the ringer type, only rings 3 times while the network sends 8 or 9 rings.
Call your phone and count the rings on your phone, and the rings on the network (on the phone you are calling from).
If that makes sense.

Hi,
This is not necessarily true.
Try this, as it is a Network Operator Default;
Dial;
**61*YourVoiceMailNumber**N#@
Where YourVoiceMail Number is specific to your actual Number not "121" (your service provider will be able to give it to you). N = number of seconds until it is routed to voice mail. This can be up to 30.
See http://www.cellular.co.za/gsm_hash_code.htm for full details.
This worked on my UK Vodafone account.
Hope it helps!

[Q] Program to shut down calls before entering voicemail?

Hi!
Long intro to give you a picture of what I mean (scroll down to red text for question):
I've been noticing how many minutes I was calling lately with my vodafone plan, so I decided to take a closer look at my use. Turns out most of my minutes/units are 00:01 minute "calls". The thing is that I'm getting charged for a full minute (it's rounded up to the nearest minute, so 00:01 minute = 01:00 minute) when I call.
The same thing goes for voicemail. If I want to call someone and they don't answer their phone, I get their voicemail. As soon as I hear the first words of the voicemail I hang up...unfortunately this already costs me 1 minute.
Now for my question:
Is there a way/app to make MY phone hang up before I get THEIR voicemail?
Thanks!
Why not just count the number of rings before their voice mail picks up and hang up before you reach that number. If they're on a cell phone, they'll see it as a missed call and call you back.
Because every provider (or maybe even every phone) has a different number of beeps:S

Phone numbers that won't hang up on you?

Hey does anyone know a phone number that won't hang up if I call it? I'm trying to test dropped call rate on my 3-VO and the best I found so far is a number that tells you the time--but it hangs up automatically after 2.5 minutes.
Thanks in advance!
Try calling your voicemail, perhaps.
How about just calling your home phone number or a family member's home phone, tell them to just let the phone sit.
Google Voice seeing how many roaming minutes i can rack up at the moment!!
