Good ROM - bad keyboard - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

I just flashed the wonderful "TPC Elite v3.1 Full with manila". But I have one big problem. The physical keyboard does not work as it should. I am swedish and thus have a swedish keyboard. And now I cannot write numbers nor the last characters in our alfabeth å, ä, ö. What can I do to solve this? Do I need to install a swedish ROM in order to get the physical keyboard to work? In that case, what is the best and newest swedish ROM? I would really like to keep this ROM, but it is hard when I cannot even write numbers. Thanks in advance for your help!

Br,

Its because most rom not only the language is to be set, also it is set to qwerty instead to qwertz (Fuze Keyboard Layout)
Try this CAB it works for my german rom, it lets the FN Button to work correct.

Thank you very much for your advice and links! I have tried several methods this afternoon but with no success. The numbers I now can write, but the letters are still not mapped correctly. I will try again later, but it is a pity that it cannot be done easier.

Please don't start new thread in the ROM development issues when there is already a thread to post in.

Trying to change the virtual keyboard layout, files needed

Hi
I am trying to change the layout of my virtual keyboard. Sadly, I was not clever enought to backup my rare original keyboard layout.
It would be great if some of you (having a german ROM or, better, the Swiss French keyboard layout) could upload me the msim.dll and the msim.96.dll located in \Windows\ directoy.
Thank you in advance; I realy do not want to flash to a german ROM just to get those files :s
Hi,
I need exactly the same thing. I hope a solution can be found by now...
Please, help!
how were you able to edit those files?i cant even copy them to my desktop pc.access is denied everytime i try...
Hi
Here are my msim.96.dll and msim.dll from my dumped german MDA Vario II Rom.
If you find out, how to change the virtuall keyboard, please share your knowledge how to do this.

Chinese Wrapping solved!

@Chinese readers having trouble with sentence-wrapping,
solution 1. Modify the registry as below:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls] "SystemCID" = "1028"
By modifying the value, you will get rid of sentence-wrapping problem.
However, this modification will partly interfere, or as I said earlier "uglify" the system fonts.
Thumbnail 1 V.S. Thumbnail 2 (Today before/after)
solution 2. Install "Chinese Wrapping":
Simply installing this cab, you can enjoy chinese sentences wrapped correctly while keep the system fonts intact^^"
Thumbnail 3 V.S. Thumbnail 4 (PIE after/before)
How to:
1. download Chinese Wrapping cab (economically 9k)
2. install
3. soft-reset
4. enjoy
Note: devices with non-warez-Ce-star can do wrapping correctly, no need to install this cab.

iiiox, another problem now.
When Reg item about nls(System LCD) be changed back to english language setting, it's no more possible to list out my contacts with any chinese character in "Contact".
For examlpe, with System LCD "trick" we can list out all contacts which content "大“ when we put "大" in Contact search field. With this "webvwrap.dll" "trick", we can't do that anymore.

No problem's here^^" (see the thumbnail)
Is it possible that your namelist looks like this:
-----------------------------
ex., Da-pan大胖 or Da-ye,大葉
-----------------------------
If it is this case, your "english" system (ex., SystemCID 1033) will has difficulty to find a single chinese word from a string of words WITHOUT A SPACE IN BETWEEN.
On the other hand, if your contacts look like this:
-----------------------------
ex., Da-pan 大胖 or Da-ye, 大葉
-----------------------------
You'll find the tartgets by typing 大 alone, or 大胖 for Da-pan, 大葉 for Da-ye respectively
The third example is:
-----------------------------
ex., Da-pan 大 胖 or Da-ye, 大 葉
-----------------------------
Typing 大、胖、葉 will lead you to find either 大胖 or 大葉 or other contacts with any of the three words
This is the way M$ deals with our need in multi-language. So nice a multi-trillion corss-national M$ can be...-_-
Thank you, iiiox, for your patience.
Let me take your example. With Reg "trcik", we can list all contacts which have "葉" in names, such as "大葉“,”小葉“ or ”中葉“.
But with "webvwrap.dll" "trick", we can't.

Sure, you find very Chinese character with your SystemCID setting to "1028", which is one of Chinese regions along with the wince.nls.
However, "1033" is for U.S.A and that's why I said that all M$ can do for the need of multi-language....
Good news is rumors are going that WM7 is coming around 2009. Let's wait and see what M$ will have done for us^^"
Bad new is that there is still NO solution for the issue (setting 1033 and searching Chinese characters correctly with the built-in Contacts). To write a new dll might help, but it's absolutely beyond my limited knowledge....
Neither setting 1028 nor activating webvwrap.dll satisfies all Chinese users' requests. The only solution is, let's face the music now, to flash a Chinese rom for all you need^^"

You are absolutly right.
May I ask for another help?
There isn't big difference between WWE Rom and CHS Rom. Attractive for me, WWE Rom has engllish word suggestion by input because I sometimes write some english.
Do you have any "trick" to add/activate english word suggestion in CHS WM6?
Thank you, iiiox.

I am not quite sure about this, for it's been a long time I've not used a CHT/CHS rom.
But I think that's possible if not alrealy a reality.
If you are of interest in it, you might like to copy compine.dll from an english rom to your chs rom, and add the registry as below to see how it goes^^"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409] Note: e0010409 is for WM native english keyboard. The value should be modified accordingly when you install an english IM later for typing english with suggestion, if it should work at [email protected][email protected]
"Ime File"="\\windows\\compime.dll"
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"
And then, try to install any English IM. I am not sure if it works, but it's always worth for a go!
Note: CHS keyboard will be interfered byWM native english keyboard, which is not recommended, since both of them share a lot of files.
Thank you, iiiox!
I'll try your "trick" next time when I flash a CHS Rom.

I suggest Mods to do a Wish/Request ROM thread so that way we will avoid so many new threads for ROMs.

CHS = Chinese Simplified, right?
I am not sure there are so many chefs here at XDA-Developers that are interested in chinese ROMs, it seems to me this here is more of a english + western languages community.
There seem to be some pretty active chinese language forums similar to this one here, though.
My Chinese unfortunately still totally sucks (working on that!), but as far as I can tell it seems to me that some of these places might be interesting to you:

many thx

:d注音输入法是一种以注音符号来输入汉字的中文输入法。因为台湾小学基础教育就由注音符号教起,所以此输入法可被称为台湾电脑使用者最为熟悉的中文输入法,只要能读就能输入。

Oh, I thought in those forums people would be doing pretty much the same as here in XDA, just in chinese. Well, you can actually read what's in there, so probably you are right ^_^ Sorry, then I don't know how to help further. Maybe once I get the hang of cooking myself, there could be some way I can help. Is the stock rom in CHS available for download? If so, do you have a link?
Yes, I also think I am not native chinese. I am afraid I am more of a Waiguoren / Laowei For the input method that I'm interested in I had started this thread here, there also is a picture:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659970
Basically, it is similar to the hanyu pinyin that you probably learned in school (assuming you are native Chinese), only it is not using latin letters, but another set of very simple characters, one for each sound. Today it's used still in Hongkong and Taiwan, where the traditional Chinese characters, and not the simplified ones, are common.

Can you find a link to the original(!) HTC Windows 6.5 ROM in your language (CHS)? That should be the starting point I guess. I didn't really search for CHS ROMs, yet, but I found a CHT ROM from Hong Kong. SO I am sure somewhere in the Chinese Forums there should be the link to a CHS ROM.
This ROM (I guess) you would then load in a Kitchen like osKitchen, then remove all stuff you don't want, rebuild, and then you have a clean CHS ROM.

keyboard input and language changing

hello masters of wimo, special greetings to ultramag.
i have new question, and i am sorry if i did not found topic about this issue, but i would like to know.
i was user of symbian, and for symbian i was able to pick what languages to flash to rom, but on htc i do not have that option.
wasnt checking wince files, but i assume all rom files should load language from external file.
and, allso, i saw one awsome 6.5 rom on spanish...too bad i dont understand that language.
oh, yes, i have croatian keyboard and z and y are exchanged with standard roms, is there any way to fix this ???
what to change in rom file??
i have required tools for cooking.
best regards
wook
oh, btw, i have hermes and wimo6.5 pro by josh (first one from hist thread) (test one).
allso, registr will not work... :S at least hkcu/keyboard layout/preload/1
tried at least german, nut it will not work....
regards
solved with RevRom7.
now german keyboard fits perfect hehehehe
only, i miss symbols in inputs.
but i have new issue.
i made new bootloader splash image, created nb, put it in nbh and flashed my phone, but after that,
about 20% of screen (bottom part where letters are) was white, and rest was ok.
is it because image was too large? or ???
best regards

[Q] MiniCM7-2.1.8 on X10 mini pro: Howto install QWERTZ keyboard layout?

I have MiniCM7-2.1.8 on my X10 mini pro, and now I am stuck finding the correct way to enable the QWERTZ keyboard layout for the Standard and Android input method including the special German characters.
slade87's thread gives some (although quite confusing) info, but the files for download are not working any more, because they are based on the old update-script-style not supported by CWM any more.
It should not be that hard to perform such an important localization, most solutions only manipulate the keyprint.xml, but that's not enough.
So can someone please explain how to get fully localized QWERTZ keyboards for the German language up and running?

Use the application mini rom manager ... Search in xda..
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
Ok, switched to QWERTZ using ROM Manager, but as I already knew, this only switched it for the Standard Input, but not the Android Input.
I have seen in slade87's thread, what has to be done, to switch the Android Input, but I don't know how, since the downloads in slade87's thread do not work any more with recent CWM, and I really do not want to fiddle around in the ROM manually.
Any suggestions, or do just have to forget about the Android Input?
