Htc hero mobile network problem - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I bought a htc hero at Taiwan and brought it back to Canada. The phone works ok and wifi works but I couldn't connect to mobile network. Even though my mobile network was turned on but it couldn't find any signal. So I tried to put the rogers sim card into my Diamond 2 (which was bought in HK unlocked) and everything works fine (even though only on EDGE). I don't even have EDGE on my hero so is it because the phone it not unlocked? or hardware issue?

Have you input your networks internet settings?

Hero can't connect to GSM network

Hi, I live in Denmark and have bought HTC Hero T-Mobile from UK. It is unlocked, but after entering a PIN, phone is unable to connect to a network. It finds 4 available networks in the area, but none of them works. I tried 4 sim cards from different operators, but problem remains.
Update of ROM and Radio has not helped.

[Q] 3G Flyer on AU Three sim roams to Telstra network

Hello everyone,
I have recently purchased a 3G Flyer in Asia (Taiwan). The device has been s-offed and rooted with the latest FlyHigh rom 1.1 installed.
My problem at the moment is with the SIM network carrier. I have an Australian 3 sim card which i am using on the Flyer right now, however the flyer connects to the Telstra carrier network and seems to be in roaming mode. I have checked the carrier settings and only Telstra is available.
I would really appreciate if someone on the forum could explain to me why i am having this problem and if there are any possible solutions to this.
Regards
Steve

3G not working

4G was recently introduced in cayman islands and for whatever reason I am only able to pick up Edge. I am running MccMBoxMax v8.
It works fine on 3G in the UK with a t-mobile 3G sim. I checked with the local operator in cayman called LIME (ex cable and wireless) and they believe it is the ROM I am using.
I have noticed that when I use the phone as a hotspot it sends out in 3G.
Can someone help since my network operator seems clueless.
thanks

If you hero work on the network to do all of those said up by you, i think that the 3g doesn't work because you checked to only use 2g network...take a look in menu -> settings -> wireless -> mobile network -> and see if USE ONLY 2g network is enabled...if yes just uncheck it
PS: do you run a custom rom?
Stefan
Using mobile internet while abroad is extremely expensive!
If it's a European/Asian Hero, chances are it won't match ATT's 3G antenna frequency.
If it's a Canadian Hero from TELUS however, of course it will work, although the device must be first SIM-unlocked.

Rom change for faster internet

I have a Htc desire, the original. Originally its unlocked from purchase and its from the UK, I have now traveled abroad to Canada and got a plan with data, but the fastest connection I can get is 'E' edge. In the UK it was atleast 'H' hsdpa. I thought it would be the APN setting that were not correct but I have tried everything I can find and still it only connects to Edge. I recently went back to the UK and it went back to a hsdpa connection. Is this something to do with frequency or a rom change that can help me connect with hsdpa in Canada. I asked this question here as this may apply to all phones and not just my htc desire.
Did you try to manually switch to 3g? It's under mobile networks in settings.
life!
If you mean Network Mode and then switch that from GSM/WCDMA from auto to WCDMA, I tried that, it loses connection to the network operator and just stays like that until I switch it back.

The carrier you use probably has HSDPA on the 850/1900 frequency, and the HTC Desire you bought in Europe is likely 900/2100. So no, you won't get HSDPA in Canada.
For verification, what carrier are you using in Canada?
I think you can't get faster Internet, because of the different frequencies.
Try to exchange the phone and get one that also works in Canada.
Im using Fido in Canada.
