http://www.siskiyougifts.com/catalog.asp?PT1=27&PT2=0&PT3=153&PT4=-1&T1=-1&T2=-1&T3=-1&T4=-1

oh come on...answer the question.

Depends on what you want, personally I don't like those. I have a horizontal case (Go STEELERS!!) that is great and the pro 2 fits perfect. I wish I could tell you where I got it, but I searched for steeler cases for iphones and found this one. Google it and you will probably find it, it is a generic size case that for me has worked on several phones from the iphone to BB curve, Nokia 5800 and now the Pro 2. If you find a generic size just measure the phone, will tell you if it fits.

Anyone got one? A few questions...

Hi there,
For anyone that has/used one of these I've got a few questions if you'd be able to answer...
1. Does the camera have a decent sounding speakerphone?
2. I presume it uses Opera as the web browser?
3. How does this feel in the pocket? I'm so unsure about the slanty bottom as if it is in the pocket, surely it doesn't feel that good?
4. Again, the slanty bottom... Does it make it hard to text in landscape mode?
If anyone has this and is using it, can you give us your feel compared to other phones. I have a Touch Pro 2 at the minute, and want to base this android vs windows mobile as they have more or less the same hardware.
Thanks
Hi there,
I do *not* have a Hero, waiting for its release...but I was at a local store today and they had dummy handsets, correct weight and size.
I asked to put one in my jeans pocket to see how it felt, and it was fine. I thought exactly like you but trust me, you cannot feel any major diff from a non angled phone.
That issue will be fine for you, trust me on it.

Getting it from Expansys, think you've seen my other post...
Why would it use Opera?
I think it uses the more or less 'default android browser'. I didn't even hear of an Opera version for Android.
And for the rest, mobile-review has an in-depth review of the Hero, and a two-part look at Android (the Hero is the first Android device in Russia).

1. Played with both a white and Graphite handset... both felt extremely solid, had a great weight to them and build quality was superb.
Screen very responsive (along with the UI) and great visual quality.
Feel of teflon back was very soft and quite grippy. Both units have the coating. Prefer the white handset personally, but the graphite was also very very nice.
Metal trim around screen a great touch.
Feels a solid, comfortable quality product in the hand.
Easily pocketable, no issue with 'chin'. Not that I thought there would be.
2. No problems using the most excellent on screen keyboard landscape or portrait with very subtle haptic feedback. Accuracy of hitting the right 'keys' was not an issue, the keyboard seems to second guess what you're writing and offers very sensible and logical suggestions. Just hit space or suggested word to continue typing and have the word auto completed.
3. Browser very fast scrolling and multi touch with text re-flow makes most sites I visited a breeze to read. All appeared rendered very well.
Do I want a Hero ???
Oh YES

Where did you have a play? did they have any stock available?
It was not in a retail location. If it was I would have bought one there an then
The thing that still sticks in my mind is the quality feel the product has.
Nokia REALLY is screwed if this is what is appearing on the market. They are still delivering Nseries creaky plastic rubbish with an ancient UI... S60 5th Edition looks and works in such a dated way compared to Hero and iPhone 3GS.
N97 - the great amazing S60 handset... PAH.
Apple seriously have competition now hardware and UI wise. The availability of good quality apps is now the battleground.
What did you think to the speed then? Honestly? Was it fast loading messages, calendar, going into new applications? Or is it quite slow which I seem to be seeing on more and more YouTube apps.
Cheers

[Q] Request for manufacture of antique style case

I sent the specs with suggestions for cases for the g tablet to the following company who looks for ideas on new products: http://www.renaissance-art.com
They have the potential to make a very nice case. Gave them the info on the twelvesouth bookbook case as an example of good product design (although exclusively iPad) with some improvements I thought would be good.
http://www.twelvesouth.com/products/bookbook_ipad/gallery
If you like the possibility send them an email at [email protected] and let them know you would be interested as well. If enough interest, they may go with the idea.
That's awesome!!

He emailed me back almost right away saying he has no plans at this time to work with the VS tablet. How far off are the dimensions that this won't work?
They do custom laptop bags to your specs which would work - $55 for a 14" or under screen size custom sized bag. Give them your HxWxD dimensions here: http://www.renaissance-art.com/Prod266/Product.aspx
They just do not currently do a portfolio style case that can be used as a stand as well...I suppose too much trouble to produce in custom format based on your resonse received.
I wrote to them, and the next day I got a reply asking what devices I was looking for. After my response of a motorola droid x and a galaxy tab, I haven't heard from them...
Hope something is on the horizon.

[Q] Is it good?

I have a chance to choose as a gift between mediapad lumia 710 and wildfire s.
I don't want to go for the nokia, it's with wp7.5, and i already have an original wildfire for just about 1,5 years and has connection issues. Should I go for media pad? Is it worth?
I don't know this brand at all, is it trustworthy?

If you want to use it yourself then just go for it. If you want to sell it, depending on the country, probably Lumia or HTC are the better choices.
As for the credibility of Huawei, just Google it
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk 2
You are comparing a 7" tablet with a 3.2" or 3.7" phone. You can find a spec comparison of the Mediapad and the Wildfire S here: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4264&idPhone2=3777 You can also use the page for comparing the Lumina.
Besides their difference in size, there are also other significant differences, e.g. the Mediapad is more than three times the weight of the Wildfire S).
However: I just unpacked my Mediapad and it is an very nice device. Its built is solid and I like its feel (I had a SGT for a short time before. Didn't like it).
If you look for a tablet that size, go for the Mediapad. It offers a good value for the price (around 300€ in .de). If you look for a phone, probably the Wildfire or Lumina is the better choice.
Using the Medaipad as phone might also look a bit funny if you do not use a headset (maybe like this: http://gigaom2.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/tablet-as-phone.jpeg?w=210&h=300)
As for the company, Huawei is a Chinese manufacturer, which is active in Europe mainly by providing infrastructure components for communication/GSM networks. They started to bring customer end-products to the European market some time ago and are set to drastically increase their market share.
From a consumer standpoint, I think they can be trusted the same way as aKorean or Taiwanese phone manufacturer. But maybe check for customer service in your area.
Cheers,
CS
Thank you very much for your replies. The fact is that I don't want a WP phone, as I am used to the android structure and interface, and also the openings that the android allows as an open-source os. I have never used a smartphone with an OS different than Android, and if wp are just like normal windows then it is for sure a no-go. And about Wildfire S... I don't know... I am using the original one right now, and from day first I wanted more performance, and this is one thing that wf's don't do. Also I have connectivity issues (signal and wifi) whatever rom or radio I used. And it is only 18 months old phone.
Amd yes I am going to use it as a phone too, to make calls and send sms's. One of my biggest concern is about moving with it around... Is it comfortable? (note, that I hadn't owned any other tablet in the past). Do you use/need a bag like a netbook/notebook?

Ok. I'm in the U.S. and the Springboard (which is essentially the Mediapad) is not used as a phone (by T-Mobile)... mind you once rooted it could be used as such (sort of. you need only to read the questions of folks trying to get their rooted Springboard to work as a phone). I don't know that I would want to use a tablet like a phone. For starters while it is not as large as a 10 inch tablet, it still would be awkward holding it up to your face to talk. I just recently saw a Samsung Galaxy Note. It's a 5 inch tablet that works as a phone but even that looked weird size-wise holding it to your face. You would probably not look as weird if you paired the tablet with a bluetooth headset and use it as a phone that way.
This tablet is 7 inches and you could put it in a case that would make people think you are carrying around an ebook reader. Since it's 7 inches you wouldn't necessarily need to cart it around in a netbook case unless you wanted to. It fits nicely in other things although I would probably put it in a protective sleeve if I were going to put it in a messenger bag or purse.
Windows Phone isn't like your regular windows. It's a true phone ui unlike the old Windows Mobile which felt like a small desktop ui. Just go to YouTube and see it yourself.
Of course nothing beats the openness of Android, but in media pad case, you basically only got root instead of a full custom rom since Huawei haven't release the source code. Root only is good enough for me, since I mainly use root access for backup. Other people might be disappointed because they're expecting custom rom.
As for using it as a phone, I don't think the size is friendly enough for this tablet to be used as your main phone. Maybe as a secondary phone, definitely not as your primary phone. It doesn't have a phone speaker, thus you use it like you use speakerphone. of course earphone (and blue tooth? never tried it) is an option.
Portability wise, for me it's a bit too big to be carried comfortably inside a pocket (it does fit nicely into the back pocket, but I really don't want to sit while it is in my back pocket). I usually use a small bag to carry it around.
Of course I am not going to stick a 7" tablet in my face to speak and of course I will use a hands-free set (I am used to it, since my wildfire voice speaker is crap and I don't hear sh*t if I am outside).
With mediapad, fact is that it offers the performance of a high end phone in a much much lower price, and since I can choose it as a gift, I consider it very seriously...
But the big question is, will it last for let's say 2-3 years? I mean I don't want to get full of problems with it after 1,5 year making it nearly unusable like my wf is now.
An other question... Is it possible in HC to use it as phone? I know that it hasn't any dialer in it, but is it possible to speak using a dialer like ExDialer or TouchPal?
I heard you can downlad phone.apk and install..
just like that?

Yes. Or you can install ICS rom which has built in dialer.

[Q] Soon to be Sony Xperia Z Ultra Owner questions

Hi Everyone I am consider getting the Sony xperia z ultra as a gift for graduating with my Bachelors in Information Technology and Cyber Defense.
Before I get started I recently purchased a Huawei Ascend mate Last july and I really liked the battery life but the screen started to bleed I have a bad pixel and it doesnt have the processing power that I now need. I have just started to get into playing on my phone and I was considering getting the moga hero because I have never been to crazy about the touch screen or the tilt the screen gaming.
I have seen on the forums that some people have got it too fit with the moga pro but what about the hero?
Also how is the battery life on the Ultra? I know the Ascend Mate had an 4,050 mah battery Its gonna be weird going down to something smaller?
Does Google Wallet Tap & Pay work for the Ultra? I saw that the Xperia Z is accepted I dont know If it works for the family of Xperia Z
I was considering buying the phone from cells4u.com has anyone used these guys before?
Since this phone is expensive I was gonna get somekind of insurance I currently have squaretrade but its ok I dont like the deductible thing its pretty stupid I was looking at us.protectyourbubble.com. I like the Lost & Theft coverage and the can do $140 a year for full coverage. Has anyone ever used protectyourbubble?
how is the camera? I Heard its bad but Im not a photographer but I saw that the Qx10 is out and its a good option but it doesnt look like the clip on the back works? is the Ultra too big? I wont be taking pictures of too much I am graduating and going to Montreal canada for grad school (first in my family to leave and live outside the states) so I wanted the options of taking some pictures of the beautiful city.
How much onboard storage does it have? 16gb? or 8gb?
how is the sound and video quality? this is mostly what I will use it for.
I got mine from http:\\www.tiptopelectronics.co.uk or £309 with free delivery and 1 years warranty

First congratulations for your graduation second, you might read some reviews around here. There are already a lot of pros and cons for this device so just read around. But i can imagine that you would be slighly disappointed with the battery. But if you want to, you could always grab one of the fine and slim sony powerbank with you and keep some peace in mind.

Depending on how often you use it (Screen on time), the battery can either be fine or distressing. With my only using it when I'm in public transit or checking email it gets to about 40% at the end of the day.
Most of us solve this with a battery case; The Sony's a popular one for quality, and currently all of us who are interested in something else are looking at Brando's case for it; As far as I know we're all waiting to get it right now.

16 across all models. External uses the SDHC or whatever it's called, so if we ever see them you could theoretically add the 128GB SD card into it, but they only mention 64 on the specs.

Sound is pretty bad on the onboard speaker; It'll do fine in quiet areas but otherwise you should stick with headphones. This is because of the waterproofing on the thing; The speaker is naturally sealed. Headphones sound great on it, though.
Video is phenomenal. Best on a phone, IMO.

It does help that it's just a controller clip. That being said, it's not officially supported by gameklip; I'm going to basically jerry-rig the thing together using some cheap silicon cases and their universal version, since they don't have one for the Z Ultra.
If it works it'll be the best gameboy ever. If it doesn't I'll at least get a dual shock out of it I can use on my friends PS... Getting tired of borrowing his broken ones.

One small question.
Whilst 22mm is a standard size, it's not the only one - a quick look round online would seem to suggest that anything up to 30mm is pretty easy to get ahold of.
If that's the case, why opt for 22mm? It seems a little small compared to the size of the Gear S itself.
I for one am glad there are people like you who dare to change things around...I think if we have to wait on Samsung, this would never get done...as for 22mm...this is a good size and one of the most use standard sizes therefore there are mane bands on hand...
I would like to be one of your testers...promising to test the product to extend, and leaving my comments (good or bad)...
thanx for the effort

I'm in. Would love to test this out. Like the idea of a metal band.
I also would like to see the S have a more upscale band. Feel free to contact me for testing.

There will be alternate sizes. just seems like most people ask about 22 but it is pretty simple to scale up the hole pattern.

At a guess, I would say that's because it's the size the other Gears (and the likes of the Pebbles) use.
But with the Gear S being that bit bigger, I can't help but think a slightly thicker strap would be better.
Anyway, I'm certainly game to see what you come up with.

The stock band is 24mm, which is also a common, standard size. There are thousands of 24mm bands on ebay. The Gear S is a lot of things, but small is not one of them. A 22mm band does seem a bit small. 24mm, even 30mm might even look strangely small if the adapter offers no smooth transition to the 40mm width of the watch face.
We see this with the stock band, as it grows in width from 24mm band width to the watch faces 40mm. Standard bands do not do this. Smaller bands might look quite odd if they just attached to this large watch.
Perhaps the adapter should offer a similar transition from watch face's 40mm to the lower band size whatever that is)?
Either way, this seems to be quite an interesting product. Any thoughts on pricing?

Did you receive my PM?
hell yeah sign me up!! I would be very excited to beta test.
I'm game.
I'm down as well and live in the us
I indicated I'd buy one, but if you HAVE any more test models I'd love to test it for you =) I plan on getting a Gear S for Christmas and will be wearing it every day for work, so I should be able to give you some good feedback. I'd totally love to be able to have a metal band for it. Let me know! Either way thank you for doing this!
Glad someone is thinking out of the box I'd gladly buy one or test one I've been wanting some new options.
Also most interested in this project. I'm wearing Gear S on a regular basis and its the first watch I've worn regularly in more than 4 years - since the smart phone became my watch in fact.
The effort to get something that is more comfortable than the standard rubber band is vital if watches like the Gear S are to make it into the main stream. Well done for getting this going.
I would agree that where the watch strap meets the watch face the size should be in relative proportion.
Any time frame for this? I'm super excited as I think it's going to look great. Have no issue paying for the beta and paying again at final release.
Hi,
I am definitely interested in this. We have 2 Gear S at home (me and my wife use it everyday)
And I would buy one for each of us when the final product is ready.
Also, I would be interested to be in the beta program. In fact, I would pay for getting a beta product
