Internet Shareing Problem - Touch Pro CDMA

I try to share my sprint touch pro's internet to pc by Internet shareing in conn mgr. When I click connect ,it try to connect ,then the status show check usb cable connection. And then report error ,and ask me to check my username and password. But I just can connect to internet in my phone.Anybody got ideas for this? Thanks!

1 - Do you connect your phone to the internet using your data plan?
2 - Do you tell Internet Sharing to use your Sprint connection and USB cable?
3 - When you get the message to check your USB connection, do you make sure your phone is connected to the PC with a USB cable?

1、Yes
2、How to tell Internet Shareing to use Sprint connetion?
3、Yes,I have connected the pc and my phone with usb cable already.
Now,I do active data connection by hand through conn mgr, and the status now could be waiting for network.but when I try access internet from pc the error still exists and cannot connect

So, I've noticed that flashing with the recent update (http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=195&cat=2&dl_id=683) from HTC for Sprint Touch Pro kills the hack* used to circumvent Phone As Modem. The steps used for the Touch Pro 2 do not work, either: there is no CM_Guardian or HTC_CM_Guardian in any of the registry (there is a HTC_CM_Guardian process running, though and the file is in the Windows root dir, protected of course).
*Entails deleting the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings\ForceCellConnection

Thanks dwellman.It works now.
BTW,what is the Sprint Touch Pro MR?

I meant to say: has anyone found a work around-- short of flashng a custom ROM or rolling back-- to the problem? The problem being that there seems to be no way to tether the Touch Pro with the new updte from HTC.
[UPDATE]
Aha! See, juggling multiple forums is taking it's toll, but I found what I was looking for: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=88014.
Hopefully this will work. I haven't tested it yet, but I wanted to go ahead and put this in as well as flesh out the post to make the indexers find it better-- I've been searching for about 5 days.

Most of the problem with the Internet Sharing connection is because the Internet connection Sharing in the Windows Device Manager is disable. Press Enable button and problem solved.
If the internet is not connected by any reason verify always in Device manager.

help req, Fao: anyone using ameo for usb internet sharing

hi Guys ,
I come to you as a friend in need, I have a serious problem bwith the internet sharing on my ameo, as you can see I am on it now typing this, but I can't for the life of me get it to share the connection, I don't have a bluetooth dongle for it, so its usb all the way, here is what happens:
my pc running windows xp doesn't have a modem attached, only thing connected to it network wise is my playstation 3, I don't have the interet at home, hence wanting to use the ameo for the connection.
plug the ameo in, bink active sync goes on, leave it to sync, then I have tried a couple of things to no avail, just hitting internet sharing then, ameo dumps the usb connection then restarts it, nadda no I-net explorer, nothing pinging
I have tried starting the sharer before connection the usb lead nadda,
is there a set of setup needs I am blatantly missing? everyone seems to jus say they plug it in and it works, but I can't seem to get over this hurdle.
perhaps its simply a network setting on windows?
Can anyone thinks they can help suggest something I am doing wrong? even if it sounds obvious to u I might just be missing something simple
ps I am running pk dual touch
Many thanks in advance
Peter
hmm, just did a soft reset and now its working....hmm...
would still like to know what caused it, i turned off advanced usb features could that have made it start working?
whats that for anyways?
Peter
I get this sometimes, the ameo acts as a DHCP server and assigns the computer an IP addy, sometime however it does not assign an addy and so there can be no data transfer !! a simple reset of the ameo appears to sort it every time !!
i always found that the modem link, Wireless modem and Internet sharing applications always worked better if you activate them BEFORE connecting the USB cable.
Either that or the dodgy power supply on my USB hub is causing the problem!!! :-D

I completely agree, connecting the service before connecting the USB is much more reliable
PS did you guys know that we aren`t supposed to be able to do this, apparently to connect to your laptop you are supposed to use web and walk pro at £12.50 per month not just web and walk my mate can`t do this through his nokia cos it does not support internet connection sharing
well this problem happened to me today..what i did was right click my network places and disabled the LAN.coz win xp was choosing my LAN as default.once i disabled it it chose my athena and wala i got internet sharing.hth

Internet Sharing with a Mac? USB and/or BT

Hello all, I have the xv6800, dcd rom 3.3.4 and activesync and internet sharing setup on Windows just fine. However, I have recently gotten a MAC, and I have not been able to get the internet sharing to work via BT or USB. I can understand BT cause I was never able to get it set up on windows either. I don't mind the USB connection, it's alwasy been more stable and a snap to set up with the ROM. However I can't get it working on the MAC. Is there a driver or app that needs to be installed on the mac side? The only think I remember doing on the WIN side is installing the modem driver.
On Mac, I have installed Missing Sync installed and I have been able to attach and sync my winmo phone without issue, so I know I have connection. but I cannot get the internet sharing to work. I checked out the verizon site and they state that they do not make a modem driver for the mac os.
I should also mention that I have winXP set up on the mac thru VMware, but I have been unsuccessful getting this to work the way my original windows laptop is setup. I dont want to set it up that way anyway if I can avoid it.
I am curious if anyone has this working via USB?? I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere. I couldn't find anything related and certainly not specific to this ROM.
I did find this, http://www.keithtastic.com/post/3997...-to-sprint-htc, but it states to buy an app called USB Modem program from www.mobile-stream.com. but wouldnt the ISC app on the dcd rom provid the same functionality?
Thanks for any/all help
i use BT in OSX... system prefs, bluetooth, setup a connection to the phone(+ button)... hit the bluetooth icon on the menubar, select the phone -> connect to network, thats all i have to do.

then just use internet sharing form the phone as normal?
no offense but that didnt help at all. I can connect my phone via BT themac sees it, but all I can do is browse device. I need to set up a connection with my phone to the mac and get online via my phone. I dont careif its bluetooth or not. I have the new macbook btw, if it matters
goon55: Like you, I always used a VM workaround to tether back when I had a Mac. I haven't tried this, but I've heard Syncmate allows Internet Sharing on Mac systems. Good luck!
I have no issues connecting my macbook for my 6800.
After you set it up like the other poster told you to, you should have a phone icon next to the bluetooth icon at the top right of the screen. click the phone icon then "connect bluetooth".

also when setting up the BT relationship, make sure you select the network services (i believe, there are one or two services you can check)...on the phone make sure you start BT and internet sharing (with BT selected) and when you go to the BT menu on the mac, your phone name should be under "devices", expand your phone name and select connect to network.
just trying to clarify a bit.
i had it
i had bt working for a bit and then was disconnected abruptly.
after deleting the profiles of the pairings on both the titan and the mac, it still wont share the connection although the phone will be connected in bt system prefrence pane, (where you select devices).
when it worked, i would select the phone in the device select, and underneath clicking on the gear to a menu option to 'connect to network'
it worked that wayfor 3 mins.
also, when i configure the device, if i set the phone to internet share while the mac is discovering the services, i get two options to select instead of just one:
access the internet
use device as network port.
edit: got it, apple talk active
best software you can use is http://www.wmwifirouter.com/ it works over BT or wifi and uses your phone's regular data access address which means you don't get tethering charges. NOTE I use the free version, and I have tried the tiral and although it does work, my mogul does not seem to like it and has little quirks after I install it (wifi turns on when I reset even if the switch is off, I don't why but its there).
Hi everyone, I've been trying to use my Windows Mobile phone as a modem for the Macbook, but so far I only see people being able to connect via BT. Problem with that for me is that BT drains both my laptop and phone battery quicker, so I'm trying to find a solution to connect via USB instead. Has anyone been able to surf on their Mac using their Windows Mobile phone as a modem via USB cable?
What you want is Mobile Stream USB Modem for Windows. Windows here being Windows Mobile, it works with my Mac.
Once you set it up, your phone is seen as a USB Modem and you dial from the Mac to this port. There is a free trial, take time to test it, read the forums, I had some initial issues to get it work right, but now it is good, I ended up purchasing it.
Tried BT sharing too, but too instable and drops. Tried the WiFi sharing, but eats battery...
Only downside: as you dial the data modem, it will fail if it is already in use (background email checking on your phone...). I have to disconnect the data connection on the phone to be able to dial from the Mac, otherwise it reports Port Busy.
Thanks for the recommendation, will try it out. Any other solutions in the meantime to connect and share the Internet connection from my Windows Mobile phone to Mac via USB?
I had the same problem, and tried everything recommended in the thread - no dice. I ended up just installing WMWifiRouter and that works like a champ.
http://networkjew.com/2009/03/30/tether-windows-mobile-phone-mac/
This is for cingular, but I'm sure this can be attempted no matter what the provider.
I've been looking for a solution as well, and have yet to find one for USB Internet Sharing on a Mac. I currently just use Bluetooth with an external charger on the phone and laptop since it'll eat the battery of both quickly.

Internet Sharing Issue

Have had some problem when connecting to the pc using USB or Bluetooth. On the phone itself the connection goes fine all the way (i even manage to download 200mb or 400mb files with opera)
On the computer i also have one USB 3g modem witch works fine and that was confirmed by my ISP.
Have tried Toshiba support to see what was their point, and, although they reply very fast (under one day) the messages are not very conclusive. i leave then have to see what you guys think
"thank you for contacting us again.
You need Windows Mobile Device Centre in order to have the drivers installed and make sure Windows Mobile Device Centre displays ‘Connected’ status. As soon as you have checked this, disconnect the device from the PC, select ‘disk drive mode’ as connection type, re-connect the device to the PC and select ‘Internet Sharing’ within Menu. Then tap on ‘Connect’ at the very bottom of the screen.
We trust that this resolves your query, please do not hesitate to contact us again if required.

so when i want to have internet on my computer i am slave to MobileDEvice Center is seems.... anyway this method doesnt work for me so the problem remains the same.

No it doesn't mean you are the slave of Mobile Device center.
They want you to connect to Mob Device Center once, and then download the correct drivers needed for your phone. All you have to do is wait till it says 'Connected' which means that your phone has all the necessary drivers.
I am presuming the rest of the steps are straightforward on your device - so next time you connect device, follow the steps above and it should work according to their reply!
OK, i have seen one Unidentified Device when i connect the phone with usb mode . The windows fails to install it but the connection goes ok the same way (until it fails a bit later).
Anyway, another thing i noticed is, the USB 3g Modem i have Hits the 3.2 Mbit whitch is its maximun speed , but the phone fails to even reach its 7.2.... will it be because of the missing driver? (whitch i have no clue how o install) Is this the same procedure for any phone that uses USB (Android , IOS) needs drivers to work properly?
Thank you

Can I ask if you have installed Windows Device Center or Active Sync using a CD that comes with TG01 or not?
I have installed from the Microsoft website, Windows mobile device center.
Have now tried the same on another computer with Windows XP (Active Sync), and the problem is the same as with windows7 (and Ubuntu) where i have already tried.
I am using one Toshiba OFFICIAL Rom, with USB the connections takes a bit more to set up but normally lasts more time connected, with bluetooth, it connects very fast but when it breaks, the PHone crashed completely and the only way to continue is reset..
Want to know if anyone has similar issue
thanks
Have had the following reply after trying to contact toshiba Aggain
"It is normal for the connection to be slower trough the Internet sharing than your normal computer Internet connection. Please note that the phone has different technical specification than your PC has. Also, the Internet connection that you share has different technical specification than the one you get from your home broadband.
We trust that this resolves your query, please do not hesitate to contact us again if required. #
Can someone explain what does this actually mean? The TG01 Cant be used as a 3G Usb Modem ?
thanks
Anybody used or is using the TG01 as a Data modem for the pc?

[Q] Connect GT9100 to Internet through PC

Hello guys,
I'm sorry if the reply to my question was already posted by I was unable to find it here or through google search.
I'm new to the Android world so this might be very easy to achieve although I was unable to find it.
I'm trying to connect my SGS2 stock KE7 to the internet through my PC. I wanted to connect the phone with the data cable to a usb port on my laptop and then route all the traffic. I went through the options but couldn't find anythign that could achieve this.
Can someone, please, give me some pointers?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Just go in to wi-fi settings and set up a hotspot. Your phone now works as a "wireless router/modem" and your computer should detect your wi-fi hotspot created by the phone
I thought Wifi/usb Tethering was to allow other devices to connect to the internet through your phone.
computer -> phone -> internet
And I want to achieve the opposite, Connecting to the internet with my phone by going through a laptop/workstation.
phone -> computer -> internet

This is a bit off-topic, and I may have misunderstood your question, but this might be what you are looking to do -
1. Setup your computer in wifi adhoc sharing mode, so that any other wireless device can find that network.
2. Use your phone as the wifi device to connect to that network.
This is pretty easy - just setup a wifi network.
Many videos available on youtube -
Again, this is just one way of doing what I think you want to do-

What if wireless is not available?
Is it possible to reverse tether a phone to use a PC's internet connection via a USB cable?

Don't think that you can use the network over the usb cable it is not designed for that, may be someone else may know a bit more.
Theoretically a proxy agent app on pc should be able to do what you want above, over the usb cable, but it is better to use a wireless modem instead.

Ok, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I often find myself in the situation where I do not have phone signal or wireless available :-/
Maybe I should invest in a wireless access point to carry around with me!
Yeah, it's a pity. There are a couple of scenarios where this would be useful for me.
Thanks anyway for replying to my question.
AFAIK this a HTC sense only feature as i remember having this on my HTC desire
What I use is an Edimax Wireless USB adapter - EW-7711UAn. The hardware works really well, the software works well once it is set-up, but configuring XP to share its network connection through this is a bit tricky
This may help, I am sure there is similar for Vista Windows 7 around on the Internet

This might help you out guys!
Heres the explanation of how to do it (sorry it's in Portuguese, but google translator will do the trick!

[Q] Usb tethering

Any body tried the USB tethering of galaxy S2? seems like Samsung did not supply the proper drivers for it to work. I loved that feature in my desire HD as it preserves the battery of the phone( better than WiFi tethering) Any body got any idea on this? thanks....
Works for me
I have an unbranded KE7 SGS2 and USB tethering works fine for me:
Settings -> Wireless and network -> Tethering and portable hotspot -> USB tethering (tick).
My XP-powered laptop then used this connection without any configuration or setup.
Mine's working fine as well.
Running KE7 on the phone, Windows 7 on the computer. Just plugged it in, the drivers installed automatically and it started working with no problems! (I'm actually posting this reply over the tethered connection).
this is really weird. My Gs2 usb tethering is not working in two of my laptops. both are working well with my desire hd. Can this be a hardware issue?
Works fine for me also...

Possibly, I would think a more likely explanation would be a problem with the USB drivers for your GS2.
It's a bit hard to say without looking at your computer. But if there was a problem with the phone, there would most likely be a lot more people reporting it. I'd say the problem is more likely on the computer end.
I might have the wrong end of the stick here, but I would like to use my laptop's broadband connection whilst in the office to use on my phone.
HTC Sense on my previous phone gave you the option when you plugged in the USB lead, does such a thing exist on the Samsung? Or even a 3rd party app that achieves the same goal?
Seems pointless using 3g in the office when I have a fibre connection out to the internet.

Yes..but still you have to use wifi to connect your phone to the internet.,actually there is a free program for windows 7 that does just that..connectify will make your pc into a hotspot...
Anyway..people who are using htc devices prior to SGS2 will miss this simple yet important feature thanks to samsung

I connected my phone via usb last night in the hope of letting the phone use my PC cable broadband connection. I can never get game hub to load, it always says it needs a working network connection. I thought game hub would use my T-Mobile web n walk connection. After connecting the phone via usb and enabling usb tethering, it successfully found and installed 2 drivers. Then going back to game hub while still connected to usb, it still said it needed a working connection. So what exactly is USB tethering meant to do?

What you sucessfully achived is that your pc now can use your phone mobile internet connection when it is plugged in via usb...that is usb tethering for samsung( that is what i understand). There is no way yet to allow this phone to use your pc's internet connection while the phone is connected via usb unlike on htc's phones.

I see. So in fact, tethering is completely and utterly useless.
hello i shifted to using GS2 from my blackberry (so im a bit of a noob as ive been using blackberry for years)
i have a bit of a confusion here. i have a problem with usb tethering, do you plug in your phone to ur pc/laptop first then only you go to settings> wireless and network> tethering and portable hotspot > tick usb tethering on your GS2 or you tick the usb tethering in settings> wireless and network> tethering and portable hotspot then only you plug in your phone via usb to your laptop/pc.
When i plug in my GS2 to my laptop, i couldnt press anything on my phone,it says 'press home key to quit samsung kies', if i do it then i will lose the usb connection, so i tried going to settings> wireless and network> tethering and portable hotspot > tick usb tethering, and then connect my GS2 to my laptop, but there is no connection between my laptop and my GS2.
i tried going to settings> applications> development > tick usb debugging, unfortunately when after doing that, when i connect my GS2 to laptop, my laptop says no driver for the device, so there is no autoplay or icon of my phone on the 'my computer' folder my lapop. in short i couldnt access my phone through usb.
Im sorry if my words are confusing, its so hard to put it in words.
i really2 need help, as i need to use the internet from my phone as he internet in my college sucks. thank you
What i'm doing is connecting the phone to PC via USB, then the 'usb tethering' checkbox lights up and I can tap on it to activate it. Also have usb debug mode enabled. Try using it with Kies closed/turned off. I'm using Windows 7 if that helps.
i have successfully use usb tethering on win7. i install kies v2.0.1.11053_99. reboot laptop. run kies, go to Tools> Install driver. reboot after finish. connect SGS2 with usb, enable usb tether and i can use internet on my laptop. using sub tether rite now.
fyi, i've tried with samsung usb driver only installation but cannot use usb tether becos i think it did not install phone modem driver.
usb tethering
Is there any application like the one available in HTC devices for usb connection..? I dont like the way the Samsung designed the application on the SGS2 ./. HTC really great..
Install Kies by Samsung
Install Kies by Samsung
the issue with the usb tethering option not being availavle is the network provider blocking this
If you want them to unblock you have to pay them a small fee,,
