The road to freedom for your hero - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

(STEP 1 GOLDCARD)
Finaly i done it all phew i had a really long day learning yesterday from the start i was on the tmobile latest rom RUU_Hero_TMobile_UK_2.73.110.26_release_signed_NoDriver.exe
I figured out the goldcard soulotion http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572683
Great video guide here http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/18/how-to-downgrade-your-htc-hero-so-it-can-be-rooted/
01. Download QMAT 5.06 here http://revskills.de/downloads/qmat_506.zip
It’s a demo version so will only run for 10 minutes.
02. Format your SD card to FAT32. Please keep in mind some brands of SD cards do not work. Note sd card must be in phone here
03. Use adb to run this command: adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
04. Copy the SD card cid code displayed after the adb command.
05. Start Qmat and Click on Cyptoanalysis Tools > Crypto Toolbox.
06. Look at the bottom, there is a text box (beside the “Reverse String” button) enter the SD card cid code you got earlier.
Click on the “Reverse String” button, the result is reversed…
Example: 532600bd227d9c0347329407514d5402
07. Copy the reversed SD card cid code.
08. Go to QMAT goldcard site here http://revskills.de/pages/goldcard.html to generate your goldcard (yes it says for G1 but works for our Hero too).
09. Enter your email. For the correct SD card cid code, you need to replace the first 2 characters to 00.
Example: From “532600bd227d9c0347329407514d5402” to “002600bd227d9c0347329407514d5402”
10. Click Continue and you will receive the goldcard.img in .zip format in your email.
11. Go to your email, download the zip file and save it to a directory and unzip it to goldcard.img
12. Download HxD Hex Editor from here http://download.cnet.com/HxD-Hex-Editor/30....html?tag=mncol
13. Install and launch HxD Hex Editor program. Note SD Card has to be in your pc or reader here at this point NOTE ALSO (run the editor as administrator in order for it to appear)
14. Go to Extra tab > Open Disk. Under Physical disk, select Removable Disk (Must be your SD card), uncheck “Open as Readonly), click OK.
15. Go to Extra again, Open Disk Image, open up goldcard.img which you’ve saved/unzipped earlier.
Now, you should have two tabs, one is your removable disk, the other is goldcard.img. Press OK when prompted for “Sector Size” 512 (Hard disks/Floppy disks), click OK.
16. Click on goldcard.img tab. Go to Edit tab > Select All, edit tab again > copy.
17. Click on the “removable disk” tab. Select offset 00000000 till offset 00000170 (including the 00000170 line), click on Edit tab and then Paste Write.
18. Click on File > Save. now you can exit the program.
19. Reboot your phone with this SD Card (now GoldCard) inside
20. Use the Official HTC RUU to downgrade to 2.73.405.5 here ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hero...ed_NoDriver.exe
from which you can fastboot boot and/or root your phone with flashrec Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559613 (Please see guide below for this)
Done.
(STEP 2 recovery)
You need to install this recovery first with flashrec instructions below
You can use flashrec to flash the patched recovery, from where you can do all the usual stuff (and even put the old hboot back on if you want!)
Notice:
flashrec is using an exploit that isn't patched yet in the current kernel used by HTC, however if/when HTC patches this, flashrec will stop working.
So for now it's ok but a next version might have patched this, so keep this in mind !
Quick Howto:
1. On your phone, goto Settings, Applications, and make sure Unknown source is checked ON.
2. On your phone, goto Settings, SD card and phone storage, and click Unmount SD card.
3. Then click Format SD card (it should automatically remount after this).
4. Plug the phone into the compuer via USB, then pull down the notification bar and click on the SD card notification. Then click mount.
5. Download this APK and recovery image and save it to your computer:
flashrec-20090815.apk
Cyanogen’s / Modaco Hero Recovery Image
Update: updated flashrec here
6. Extract the cm-hero-recovery.img out of the MoDaCoPatchedRecovery-1.0.zip and put it somewhere on your computer.
7. Save both the cm-hero-recovery.img and the flashrec-20090815.apk to your computer, then copy them both to your SD card
(do NOT put them inside any folders on the SD card, just put them in the root of the SD card itself).
8. Unplug the phone from the computer once they are downloaded to the SD card.
9. Goto the Market and download Linda File Manager or any file manager program if you do not already have one.
10. Open the file manager and goto SDCard and then find the flashrec-20090815.apk file and click on it.
If asked, tell it to use Package Installer to open it. It should automatically install the apk.
11. Open the FlashRec program and click on Backup Recovery Image and wait for it to finish.
12. Once done, click on the empty text box in the FlashRec program and type:
sdcard/cm-hero-recovery.img
Then click on the Flash Custom Recovery Image button and wait for it to finish.
13. Turn off the phone and turn it on into Recovery mode by holding down Home and Power to turn it on
(keep holding until the recovery screen comes up has a bunch of text on a black background).
As long as that screen comes up, you have done it correctly and can now go and load other ROM/hboot/whatever.
THIS IS OPTIONAL RECOVERY BELOW BETTER OPTIONS BUT YOU NEED THE ABOVE RECOVERY FIRST
I then flashed the new recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.3 Great Video guide here http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/15/how-to-flash-a-new-recovery-image-if-you-are-already-rooted/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561124
There are several ways to install a custom recovery, choose the one that suits you most
via adb -> Requires a custom recovery (with test-keys) like Cyanogen's v1.4 or my previous recovery
Code:
Copy recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.3.img to the root of your sdcard
Boot into your current custom recovery (boot while holding HOME)
Connect your Hero via usb to your pc/mac/...
adb shell
$su (not required if you have root already)
#mount -a
#flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.3.img
(STEP 3 INSTALL CUSTOM ROM)
Then i installed the cool modaco custom rom v2.8 to my phone http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...com/292018/xda/
Great Video guide here http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-your-htc-hero/
Also dont forget to upgrade your radio here http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...ate-zip-format/
Download the latest one normally on the top to install rename the zip to Update put on root of SD card and boot into recovery and install update.zip option easy as that.
STEP 4 PARTITION SD CARD)
Then finaly i partioned my sd card using the recovery imiage with thease commands directly from the phone in recovery.
I ran the following commands in this order from recvoery mode:
- Wipe data + cache (factory reset)
- Wipe ext partition on SD-card
- Wipe Dalvik-cache on SD-card (NOT on /data !) [email protected] ALWAYS WORK
- Partition SD-card : 500MB Ext2, 32MB Swap, remaining Fat32
- Convert ext2 to ext3
- Installed ROM

hi, was following your procedure in order to crezte the Gold Card. Everything goes perfect up to step 20. After I used to flash with RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.6_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe; big mistake. after flashing I can't put phone in recovery mode, it showing a triangle with a exclamation mark in the center, also GPS is not existing at all, 3 G network not present. My phone has been bought from Hong Kong.
I was trying to follow the steps to recovery but useless; flashrec-20090815.apk is not working, even the new versions. If someone can help me with some advices, i'm really desperate. thanks

help please!!!!
Hi all. after I create the gold card, see link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...187#post5036187, I RUU my Htc Hero from Hong Kong with SEA: (South East Asia)
RUU_Hero_HTC_Asia_SEA_WWE_2.73.728.5_release_signe d_NoDriver.exe and I'd seen there is no GPS, Market and 3G, than I'd applied another RUU RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.66_WWE_test_signed_NoDri ver.exe and this time I have Market, but still no GPS and 3G. I tried different RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622, but no one working, not even the previous two. I tried to use flashrec-20090815.apk in order to flash, but no working. even the new version of flashrec not working. I tried to put in recovery mode holding POWER + HOME button, but after boot is showing a triangle with exclamation mark in the middle. Same is happening if I try to go in recovery mode from ADB (command adb shell reboot recovery). Is somebody so kind to explain me what to do in order to restore my phone at least how it was before, please? My skills in android development are 0. thanks

help please!!!!
so, nobody wants to help me ? i'm really desperate ...........

finally, I made again the gold card, after I re flash with RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe, and works. Than I used flashrec-1.1.3-20091107-2.apk and recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.img and I created Backup.img. Tried to put in recovery mode by pressing in the same time Power and Home and I got the following screen:
"reboot system now [Home+Back]
apply sdcard:update.zip [Alt+S]
wipe data/factory reset [Alt+W]"
"E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command"
BTW, GPS and 3G still missing from menu. Trying to update with 2.8-update-hero-modacocustomrom-core-chinese-signed.zip or with 3.0-update-hero-modacocustomrom-core-signed.zip, I got this :
" -- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:No signature (663 files)
E:Verification failed
Installation aborted."
Phone hanging, freezing.... HELPPPPPP please!!!!!!!!

I forgot to mention these details:

What else i can do?

Is there anyone here in this forum who has been complimentary to this guide? I ask because I am an organizer of the recognition awards for Achievement in Technical Writing & Guides (to help people use their phones)... And the Android forums are new, and thus there has been very little response to the intention to recognize those who have contributed knowledge, apps, themes, guides to the community.
thank you. see my sig.

Hi, I have the exact same hero as you do (same system etc..). Didn't work with the "RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_1.76.405.1_R3_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe"
so am now about to try it with this one:
RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe
but after reading you post I am a lil weary...
is you hero still not working 100%??
Thx

1. Bricked my rooted G2 with 2.1 rom by interrupting the radio update process
2. Got it back within 5 days repaired in warranty FOC! mainboard replaced.
3. Flashrec backup recovery did not work, so had to go into goldcard method. (2.73.110.26 CL#69351)
4. Update succesfull. I thank you very much for your efforts Even the ugly static G2 T-Mobile screen now says HERO
5. Linda File Manager + FlashREC
6. Backup recovery -> Backup complete
THANKS

I got a Customer Id Error when I try to install either
RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_1.76.405.1_R3_WWE_release_signed _NoDriver.exe
or
RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoD river.exe
I thought the purpose of the GoldCard was to help bypass the ID checking?

It is - the point is that the creation of a goldcard is not an exact science. If your goldcard is not correct, for any reason, it won't work.
There have been many accounts on these forums of people having to try 3 or 4 times (usually using different SD cards) before getting a goldcard that works.
Regards,
Dave

I got it working on the second attempt. In the tutorial I was reading it advice I use a separate sd card reader when creating the gold card.
On my second attempt I just left the card in the phone the whole time and mounted it through the phone when I needed to perform hex editing on it.
Lovely job, now to choose what custom ROM I shall flash.

[Q] Rooting G1 Please help

I followed all of the instructions on this post:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480
No problems at all doing any of it.... BUT I have a G1 that had 1.6. Now it's 1.0. Everything seemed to work fine, but when I try to update with any ROM it does not seem to work... still 1.0.
When I restart it by holding the power and the home button I do not get the menu screen that all tutorials seem to have, I still get the Exclamation mark and have to hit Alt S.
Any suggestions? I have tried loading Cyanogen and 2 different JesusFreak versions. But no changes. ???
EDIT: Ok I just found this ...
to see is you are "rooted" download or use terminal app
At the $ prompt type su <enter>
should return a prompt now of
#
I downloaded the terminal app and it says permission denied when I type in su.
SO I guess it's not rooted...BUT everything I did with the instructions went off without a hitch. Did the telnet instructions with no problems....??? AHHHH!
NEW EDIT! OK I found this video "Rooting the G1 to Amon RA's Recovery " on you tube. Followed the simple instructions, everything worked great. So now I have 1.5.2, booted pressing home and power and got the menu screen for the first time ever. Tried to run an update and that menu screen is gone, I'm back to the exclamation point. And still su does not work in the terminal. And telnet only gives me a connection error now. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Ok I started over did ALL OF THIS:
If you have US-RC30/UK-RC8 or higher, you will first need to downgrade your phone to a previous version. (Skip these steps otherwise)
1. Format your phone's SD card to FAT32 mode:
* Hook your phone up to your computer using a USB cable and then wait for the notification to show up in your title bar of your phone.
* Click the notification, and then click "Mount".
* A new removable disk should show up on your computer. Right click it and select Format, and select FAT32 as the file system type.
2. Download and unzip the RC29 or RC7 image file. Copy the DREAIMG.nbh file to the SD card. (RC29 for US, RC7 is for UK)
3. Turn the device power off.
4. Hold Camera button, and press Power button to entry boot loader mode. You should see a gray/white screen with instructions to flash your phone with the update on your SD card. If you don't see that, make sure you followed the instructions properly.
5. As per the on-screen instructions, press the Power button to start upgrade procedure. DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO INTERRUPT THIS PROCESS.
6. After it is finished, perform the restart your phone.
Rooting your RC29 or lower phone:
On RC29 phones and lower, anything you type into your keyboard is also being run in a hidden console with root permissions. More information regarding that at the bottom of this post. But, to get root access, do the following:
Instructions:
1. Download recovery.img or the new version by Amon recovery-RA-dream-v1.5.2.img and copy it to your SD card (see the previous instructions on how to copy from your computer to your Phone's SD card).
2. Download the Hard SPL and copy the zip file to the SD card.
3. All files must be on the root of your SD card.
4. Restart your phone. Wait for your phone to start up fully and show the home screen.
5. After your phone starts up, hit the enter key twice, type "telnetd" and press enter. (Yes, it will start up a contact search, don't worry. Just type it.)
6. Download an Android "Telnet" application from the Market and connect to localhost.
7. If you connect successfully, you will have a root prompt "#".
8. Type the following into Telnet (these commands will give you root access easier in the future):
* mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
* cd sdcard
* flash_image recovery recovery.img
* cat recovery.img > /system/recovery.img
Now you have root!
SO, it says I should have root now. I downloaded the terminal, typed in su and it says access denied. ???
Wow. I cant believe that not as single person is willing to help me on a forum about this subject.
So I started over for the 4th time. Again did everything, it all goes smoothly. But still do not have permission when I type in su to a terminal.
I loaded Amon Ra Recovery, then loaded signed killa 1.5.
It worked, I see 1.5, but when I reboot I do not get the menu, I still get the exclamation point..... I only get the menu on the first reboot after loading the Amon Ra Recovery.
PLEASE ANY HELP I'M DYING OVER HERE!!!
fellow g1 er
Theunlocker ddoott coom
For g1 Has two part video about going bqack to early version and then flashing foward to get root
It worked for me.
However you should be aware that their procedure uses something other than dangerecovery which cyanogemod requires. To use froyo 2.2 android.
I found this out AFTERFLASHING FROYO so now oi have to backtrack.
Thunlocker also links to a g1 android version with root whiicch what you flash last from the sd
card using amonra recovery.
I do however haave root. And the unlocker basic root rom worked well until I flash cyanogen mod rc3
But rc3 does still have root on my phone. It just doesn't run well because only danger recovery can partition the nand chip properly apparently and I haven't done that yet.
Furthermore be aware if you install gapps that there are two versions mdpi and hdpi and no one tells you but I think only mdpi works on g1 .
I found out after flashing hdpi myself.
Wish others would help.
We are the blind leading the blind.....
If you find something that gets you cyanogenmod worling with google apps market then please tell me how.
At least if you follow the unlocker videos you will have root.
Get it from their webpwage not you tube because the webpage has the steps written out as well.

[GUIDE] How to install Gingerbread 2.3.1 AOSP (ALPHA) for dummies

I have put down the simplest (can you say simplest?) instructions for installing Android 2.3.1 Gingerbread on the Xperia X10.
Some may say that dummies should not use Alpha ROMs, however, in this particular case I would disagree. I have been testing this ROM for 3-4 days now and I find that it is ready for daily use if you can give up features such as camera, GPS, and some other stuff.
This ROM is made by Jerpelea, all creds to him. Donate and buy him a beer (or orange juice depending on what he prefers).
Use these instruction with precaution. With this said, if any problems occur and your phone is in any kind of way damaged, I will not be held responsible.
For more info and updates on ROM read the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911364
According to Jerpelea, you shall install it in this order.
MULTITOUCH INSTALLATION ON (ANY?) 2.x ROM
1. Download MT ENABLER by Bin4ry.
2. Create a folder called "MT Enabler" and move the file that you just downloaded (MT_enabler.rar) into it.
3. Extract the file (MT_enabler.rar) with Winrar or Winzip.
4. Now you will have 2 important files and they're both called "X10flash". One installs the Multitouch via cmd and the other one via X10Flashtool. Double click ONE of them If you choose the one that installs via flashtool you will have to press the button "Flash" that is shown in the program
5. Follow the instructions given and if you are asked to "connect Xperia in flash mode" do so by:
5.1 Turn X10 off
5.2 Disconnect from computer
5.3 Hold down BACK button WHILE inserting the USB cable (be sure that the other end is connected to your computer)
5.4 When the LED LIGHT TURNS GREEN, your X10 is in "flash mode"
6. When it is done remove the USB cable and reboot your X10.
7. Enable Unknown Sources (1) and USB debugging (2)
(1) MENU button -> Preferences -> Applications
(2) MENU button -> Preferences -> Applications -> Development
8. Houston, we have multitouch!
OBSERVE! If you do not have multitouch in your browser or in Google Maps please follow THIS simple guide to enable it! However, I believe you will have it enabled in every app
ROM INSTALLATION
1. If you haven't put in xRecovery in your X10 do so by following the instructions listed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571&highlight=xrecovery
(read the requirements as well)
2. Download the ROM from here: http://hotfile.com/dl/99887488/c3452ec/gb_beta_0008.rar.html
3. Extract the file (with winrar or winzip) and you will have a folder called "gb_alpha_0008".
4. Inside this folder you will have three folders, of which two are .Zip files. Copy the one called "gapps-hdpi-20101226" and "signed_008" to your phone. Don't copy them to a specific folder, just to the main folder also called the root folder of your SD card. (Of course, to do this you will have to connect your X10 to your computer and mount the SD card).
3. Now unmount your SD card, reboot your phone and enter xRecovery by pressing the BACK button repeatedly when the white "Sony Ericsson" text comes up during the boot up.
4. Inside xRecovery you can navigate up and down by pressing the VOLUME buttons, choosing an option by pressing the HOME button and going back by pressing the BACK button. Now choose...
4.1 "Install custom zip"
4.2 "Choose custom zip from sdcard"
4.3 Find and choose "signed_008.zip"
4.4 Let it work...
4.5 "Choose custom zip from sdcard"
4.6 Find and choose "gapps-hdpi-20101226"
4.7 Let it work...
4.8 Go back and choose "Reboot phone".
Now you have the ROM installed..
However, we're not done here...
Your phone will freeze on the "Sony Ericsson" text thingy.. Now do this:
1. Connect your X10 to your computer
2. Download the Android SDK from here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
3. Put the SDK folder that you just downloaded in C:\
4. Open cmd.exe (search for it in your PC) and write the following text without citation marks "" or brackets () :
"cd C:\(the name of the SDK folder that you downloaded)\android\tools" and press ENTER
5. Now write the following, without citation marks "", and press ENTER between each one:
"adb shell"
"busybox killall5"
6. Wait approximately 10 seconds, take out the battery from your X10, put it back in, start your phone..
BACKUP BEFORE INSTALLATION OF NEW ROM VERSION
If you are about to install a new version of this ROM, I am glad to present you a little backup tips from cobrato
If you have installed a previous GB release, do a backup under xRecovery. For subsequent release, after step 4.7: You can do the following:
Backup & Restore --> Advance Restore --> Select your backup --> Restore Data --> Reboot --> Voila
Click to collapse
INSTALL THE APPS IN THE "APPS" FOLDER AUTOMATICALLY (BATCH)
COMING SOON!
THERE YOU GO! IDIOT PROOF INSTRUCTIONS!

Fantastic tutorial but could you include either a link or a few lines explaining the installation of Multitouch to the rom. Also can we batch install the remaining apps folder?
ok thank you
Guys please i need an advice .... do i wait until this release become stable or jump into Z's 2.2 freeX10 .. is it going to take to long to fix it ? . why they work on HTC and 2.2 if they have 2.3.1 alpha ? i'm confused i don't want to keep losing my apps and settings . i mean i don't wanna keep switching between roms too much. BTW thanks for the Awesome tutorial and i would thank J for spending his time trying to apply 2.3.1 for us
Just to add: If you have installed a previous GB release, do a backup under xRecovery. For subsequent release, after step 4.7: You can do the following:

[GUIDE][Flyer+View]Gingerbread S-OFF/Recovery/Permaroot

This is a brief guide to getting S-OFF on the Flyer or view.
These are the devices and HBOOT versions supported
HTC View (express) 1.09.0000 and 1.13.0000
HTC Flyer (flyer) 1.10.0000 and 1.11.0003
If you don't have one of these versions, then see post 2 because the current application will not S-OFF your device as is PERIOD.
Step 1: Read the documentation
Step 2 (Windows): Uninstall HTC Sync and any other sync sotware ( eg Androsync ) that you have been using.
Step 3 (Windows) : Install these fastboot drivers
Step 4: Turn USB debugging ON
Note: The device should be fully booted to android now, do not go to the bootloader or fastboot.
Step 5: Connect the device via USB if not already done.
Step 6: Got to the revolutionary website and select the download for your platform (Windows or Linux ) do not enter anything in the form and do not close the page.
Step 7: Run the application to get your serial number it will be something like HTCXXXXXX
Step 8: Go back to the webpage and enter the details required on the form to get your KEY.
IMPORTANT: If you have a flyer, device is Flyer, if you have a View it is Express
Step 9: Copy and Paste the beta key back to the application and press return. If you don't know how to paste see step 6 here
Step 10: Follow the on screen instructions.
If you see this message:
SUCCESS - Life gave us lemons, we didn't make lemonade!
then S-OFF has been successful, even if CWM then fails.
If you didn't download ClockWorkMod as part of the process or it failed to download, then get it here
To root:
Copy su-3.0-beta4-efgh-signed.zip to your sdcard root
Start clockworkmod recovery (instructions below)
Select "install zip from sdcard"
Then select "Choose zip from sdcard"
Then select "su-3.0-beta4-efgh-signed.zip"
Then select "Yes - install su-3.0-beta4-efgh-signed.zip" to confirm
Then go back
Then reboot.
You're rooted!
If you get an error "Status 0" when installing the SU zip file, immediately retry 99% of the time that works
If you can't get CWM on view to see the su zipfile
Open the lid and put an SD card in your flyer/view. It does open - it's just difficult and there is an SD slot.
Alternatively Follow the instructions here but DO NOT DO STEP 1.
This is a work in progress, and will be updated as and when time permits.
Known working/not working SW versions
This relates to the SW number under settings->about tablet and assumes you have a supported HBOOT

2.00.405.3 works.
Flyer 16GB WIFI:
View:
1.22.651.1 confirmed working
Other Flyer HBOOT verions
If you have HBOOT 1.07 see this thread
What can I do next
Enable GSM phone on the Flyer 3G
Install custom ROMS
FAQ
Q. Is the Korean expresskt supported?
A. No, and running revolutionary for US express will not work.
Q. Can I undo S-OFF and return to S-ON?
A. Yes, there is a separate thread for that.
Q. Can I OTA update?
A. In theory an OTA will work if you have a stock recovery, in practice it it#s ot a good idea.
Q. Then how do I update?
A. Simple answer either don't or use custom ROMs.
A. Longer answer, you can extract the updates from an OTA or later ROM and flash it yourself.
Q. Will I lose S-OFF if I RUU or OTA?
A. No
Q. Will I lose root if I update?
A. Possibly, just re-flash it as described in the instructions above.
Q. Is SW version X supported?
A. If it's listed as not working it's not supported otherwise it should work.
Q. When will support for HBOOT X.YY.Z be added?
A. When it's added, if ever, there are no public release schedules nor is asking for ETAs permitted for revolutionary.
Q. My Flyer/View has no SD card slot/Where is the SD card slot?
A. Your Flyer/View DOES have a real SD card slot.
See: View Manual page 88
or Flyer Manual page 10
Q. Why does ClockWorkMod use the external SD card, not the internal EMMC SD card?
A. Becasue the sdcard handling in CWM does things like partitioning and formatting of the SD card. You really don't want to do that with the internal flash memory - it would be very bad if you did.

Nice! Let me know if you want/need any help putting more info together. I am trying to get into development for the US Wifi Flyer.
To start with: SW numbers (versions) are always welcome and whether S-OFF was successful or not.
After I made the S-off, can I flash the phone function ROM?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15032165
s-off still elusive for my set.
android 2.3.3

Sorry no, if revolutionary detects anything other than 1.10.0000 on a flyer or a view with 1.09.0000 or 1.13.0000 it will quit. This is in order to prevent bricking your untested device.

nvm got it. thanks for all your hard work.
I think this is a nice thread with very good instructions. Would you mind if I added this? It may help people that do not have the correct SW number under settings. For instance, I had a Flyer P510e 3G/32GB --- HBOOT: 1.10.000 --- ROM: 1.48.708.3 and I was able to S-OFF via Revolutionary after upgrading the system software. Here is what I did.
#1 You need to update to SW Version 2.00.405.3 from RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_2.00.405.3_R_Radio_20.3501.30.08 9BU_3809.05.04.10_M_release_194964_signed.exe which you can download via this link. It's about 517 MB
#2 Once you get that file, unplug your Flyer from your computer and then double click to run the utility. Somewhere buried in your user account folder will be an image file created by the update utilty. You need the image, do not plug your flyer in and try to update it. In my case, the image file was buried in C:\Documents and Settings\MyAccount\Local Settings\Temp\{0E03141E-27B1-4E3A-B9B9-18DA9C1FCBEC}\{50F2F878-636A-496F-A7CB-544C067E0C4B} and was named ROM.zip Hunt around that Temp directory, you should be able to find it.
#3 I renamed ROM.ZIP to PG41IMG.zip.
#4 You need an extra SD Card to make a "Goldcard". A Goldcard is a special SD card that lets you flash ROMs on S-ON devices.
#5 Put the memory card you want to use for the Goldcard into your Flyer.
#6 With the memory card in your Flyer, click on Settings, SD and Phone storage, then click Unmount SD card. Once it unmounts, click Format SD card. (Please keep in mind that some memory cards don’t work, and this will erase all data on your SD Card so back all the data up first to your computer)
#7 On the Flyer, go to Settings, Applications, Development and then make sure USB Debugging is checked.
#8 Download "GoldCard Helper" from the Android Market and open it.
#9 Get the code for mmc2 (mmc2 is the external memory card of your Flyer), go to the website shown on the GoldCard Helper screen and follow the directions to get your Goldcard image.
#10 Download the HxD Hex editor from http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/
#11 Take your SD card out of your Flyer and put it into a SD card reader. Plug the reader into your PC so it shows up on your computer as Removable Disk.
#12 Open the Hex Editor (Run as Administrator if you're on Vista or Windows 7) and click on the Extra tab, then click on Open Disk. Under Physical Disk select Removable Disk (your SD card you just put into the computer). Make sure to UNcheck Open as ReadOnly. Click OK.
#13 Goto the Extra tab again and click Open Disk Image. Open up the goldcard.img that you saved from your email. You should now have two tabs, one is the SD card (Removable Disk) and the other is the goldcard.img Press OK when prompted for Sector Size 512 (Hard Disks/Floppy Disks).
#14 Click on the Goldcard.img tab and click on the Edit tab and click Select All. Then click on the Edit tab again and click Copy.
#15 Click on the Removable Disk tab (Your SD Card) and select offset 00000000 to 00000170 then click on the Edit tab and click Paste Write.
#16 Click on File then click Save.
#17 Close the Hex Editor.
#18 Test the card. Take it out of the computer, then put it back in. Try to open the memory card on the computer (Removable Disk), if it lets you, you are all set.
#19 Copy the PG41IMG.zip file onto your new Goldcard.
#20 Put the Goldcard into your Flyer and boot holding the volume down key.
#21 Update the ROM (takes about 5-10 minutes) You should now have SW Version 2.00.405.3
#22 Go to the first post and follow the instructions outlined by globaltron.
You should now have a S-OFF device with CWM and Root
Enjoy

D'oh fixed

*****solved******* htc one shows 0mb for internal storage total!!!***********

First and For most thank my fellow android development enthusiasts for your help with this task and thank you the sites below for having these resources out there on the web. HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*********SOLVED********* ATT HTC ONE(M7) Says 0mb on TWRP REOCVERY
******DISCLAIMER******* I am taking no credit from an android development and those developers who’ve spent countless hours putting together the downloads below this is simply a walk-through guide of how to resolve an issue I’ve created and fixed with the tools below. I take no credit or responsibility of the final outcome of this working for you specifically, this is simply what WORKED FOR ME. I am not liable for any damage to you, your phone, lost time, monies data, or any other loss you may have suffered as a result of attempting this fix. THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK AND DISGRESSION!! PROCEED CAREFULLY!!!!)**********************************************************************
So with a little help from an root enthusiast in my local area I’ve been able to resolve my initial issue of somehow formatting my entire device internal storage partitions to the point where no recovery image was able to mount a single partition at all. Luckily enough for me, I could still get into the boot loader and recovery and the phone still was recognized by my PC(win7 64 bit home premium edition) I was able to complete this and get my phone back in like new working order. The steps go as follows;
1) open up your favorite web browser and goto http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com/2013/10/fix-data-htc-one.html?m=1 this is the page that will give you the adb commands to help fix this issue.(on this page you will find the .EXT4 file and the sdk tools you will need to restore the correct partitions on the device. You will need to download these and you will need to set the Mini-sdk package unzipped on to your basic C: drive if you’ve not already additionally you will need to place the file for the .ext4 file in the same folder of your mini-sdk.)
2) If your device is still currently able to boot into fastboot mode go ahead and do that now.
3) Connect your phone to your pc via OEM usb cable.
4) using the adb command line Fastboot Flash recovery recovery.img in command prompt(CMD.exe or by placing this file (PHILLZ ADVANCED CWM RECOVERY---( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485131 Re-named as recovery) into the fastboot folder(which you should have by now if you rooted your device correctly.), pressing the shift key+ Right Clicking on the mouse select the option that says “Open command window here,” then type the command above to complete the flashing of this custom recovery image.
5) After the flashing is complete, select the option that says reboot bootloader or you can run the command adb reboot bootloader and let the phone reboot the bootloader by usb at which point in time you should see a Philz Advanced CWM Recovery. Now this is where it becomes personal choice but here is how I saved mine using a friends usb otg cable and a thumb drive I placed the most current CM11 nightly from (http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=m7att) and also downloaded the CM11 gapps package from (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps) both on the thumb drive before completing the flashing above. **NOTE** you can push the files either via adb sideload at that point or adb commands as well to the internal storage****
6) While in PACWMR you can then select on the option that says install.
7)l if you used the OTG USB like I did you will want to select the option from usbdisk and then choose the rom file that you want to install, and select yes to install.
8) flash the GAPPS package the same way you flashed the last file.
9) For those concerned that you may have lost root, you can download install/flash Supersu by Chainfire update 1.99 from here http://download.chainfire.eu/420/SuperSU/ .
10) Wipe cache and delvik at a minimum, I did and fdr too just to ensure a clean install.
11) Reboot
12) PROFIT!!!!
Items used in this repartitioning, restoring of the .system and data partitions as well as the basic file libraries the phone needs for basic function are as follows:
Windows pc( there are similar procedures for a mac or linux user. Ill freely admit I know nothing about macs and linux is well…linux.)
HTC ONE OEM USB DATA TRANSFER CABLE
An internet connection.
USB OTG CABLE TO MICRO USB CABLE
Thumb drive (I used a 4gb but none of the files you’ll need to complete this will be larger than a 1gb sd card so no need to break the bank)
Patience
Ability to follow basic command prompt scripts to complete the process.
And lastly not mandated but highly recommended a fully charged handset.

A little instruction on how to get RooT. And so, everything that you do, as always, is at your own peril and risk! All data is erased when unlocked! Make BACKUP !!! Is always!!!! I. Unlocking Boorloder-a (required for flashing the phone and everything connected with it): 1. Go to settings -> system -> About phone -> Build number (7 clicks) (Congratulations !!!! You are a developer!) < - About phone -> For developers: Enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking. 2. We connect the phone to the computer and install the ADB usb driver (on the Internet), a connection request should appear on the phone, you need to allow it. 3. Extract files from the N20_utils.rar archive (10.87 MB) (preferably not very far, the root of the disk or the created folder N20 will be there). Go to the Unlocked Bootloader folder and run the bat file, the phone will reboot and display the request "unlock? Yes / no" rocker up - yes / rocker down - no. Naturally, you need to press the volume up, otherwise there were so many actions)) 4. Congratulations! Now, with each reboot, you will have an Orange state (5-second inscription), and the ability to do whatever you want with your phone. II. We sew! 1. For the lazy (who value their time). Download the SP Flash tool (Internet), from the N20_utils.rar archive (10.87 MB) select MT6763_Android_scatter and boot_magisk_20 files for the boot partition, lk_pached for lk, etc. you can even twrp instead of native recovery. Turn off the phone, connect it to the computer and click Download in the SP Flash programs. After the OK circle appears, disconnect and reconnect the cable (easier than a forced reboot). We turn on the phone and put the magisk manager (internet). Congratulations!!! You have a root and no Orange State label! 2. Who wants more and himself: phone to computer -> go to the Unlocked Bootloader folder -> run CMD -> write "fastboot flash recovery" put a space and move the TWRP file with the mouse to the window (fast path to the file) and press ENTER -> reboot the phone to fastboot. Congratulations!!! you have TWRP. Boot into TWRP, skip the encrypted DATE message, go to formatting and format the DATE. Go to mount and connect MTP. A phone will appear on my computer, we drop the files DisableForceEncryption_Treble (disable date encryption), orange_state_disabler_v0.3 (remove orange_state) and magisk.zip (internet) into the memory section. In TWRP, click install all this and rejoice! 3. Who has nothing to do at all: go to the forum thread Development and porting of GSI firmware (Post bullik01 # 71222655) and try what catches your eye. Not all are loaded, but .... (although we do not seem to have an A / B structure, but only "arm64 A / B" were launched) PS: look for additional information here on the forum and for brotherly devices UMiDIGI A5 Pro - Firmware ( Post Xakep1993 # 86772223) Attached files recovery-TWRP_3.3-20191015-1714.img (22.81 MB) DisableForceEncryption_Treble.zip (4.24 MB)

Hi, were you by any chance able to get a copy of these files ,Please upload if posssible
The original links are broken and the internet seemed to wipe all traces out, I'm looking for the N20_utils and possibly the Disable force encryption one
Good day
Had the same problem, (English not so good but I know you'll understand). What I did was just installing Corvus OS rom, the 11th version. It's been quite a while since i installed it.
Tried Lineage 18.1 and adding the smallest gapps available, but everytime i get code error 1. I guess it was the twrp 3.3 version i used cause some roms requer the latest TWRP versions. The lineage is installing just right nd can reboot to system with no hiccups.
None of Android 12 gsi versions has ever been able to installed. Cause when i try to install, i get the error of "file too large for the target partition. Tried everything from the net to increase the system partition to at-least 3gig. No success.....
Is anyone who can help to install android 12 even beta version will be ok for my N20 Doogee??
Thanx

The file is in the forum. But to make your life easier here are the link.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18B-srDVia_H4aDt7uvCDUxg2e4R5kVVY?usp=sharing The file is of type .exe and that extracts when you run on the pc, the problem is that I was suspicious about the virus so I threw the file in the total virus (if you don't know what it is, just search) and 6 programs pointed it out as malware but many others didn't find anything including karpersky and bit defender, there to make sure the files were there i renown they from .exe to .zip and I looked and the files really were there but as I don't want to take the risk I didn't extract and I didn't even try anything. The file that fix the encryption are inside doogee n20.exe, the guy said it will be in .exe and when you run it extracts the file in the C folder of the computer I recommend you to rename it from .exe to .zip because if the file have a virus you can screw your pc when running
