NOTE: Always flash from bootloader mode!!! - Touch Pro CDMA

What does this mean? I have flashed roms while just being connected to the conputer, the rom flash utility. Is this saying that I should save it to a sd card and flash that way while in the bootloader mode (never have been in bootloader mode but read a little about how to get into it.) Thanks for any help.
Just a Noob looking for help.
JMizzo

naw it means put the phone in bootloader, hold volume down + power + put the stylus in at the same time..hold till you see the tri colour screen. then plug the phone into the usb (the word 'serial' will change to 'usb) and then run the RUU like normal
hope that helps mate

taking advantage of this thread, If I want to flash to latest sprint ROM can I just flash this rom if my phone is already unlocked? Flashing to latest sprint rom relock my device and change radio?
I always flash a dump version but I want to try the new from sprint.
Thanks for your answers.

HSPL

Hi guys
I was expermenting with some stock roms.
I then rommed back to stock (latest) on HTC website.
Did n loose my HSPL 2.08?
Where can i see if it has been lost?
Thanks!
Turn off your device, then turn it back on pushing 2 buttons at the same time, vol. down plus power on. This will bring you into the multicolor bootloader screen.
If you want to get rid of HSPL, you must use either HSPL4.exe or flash your stock ROM via SD card method.

[Q] Need a little help...

I have read as much stuff as i could, and i haven't seen anyone with my issue (or if i missed it, sorry for the re-post). BTW, my phone is operational... The issue that i have is not being able to get into download mode via the button combo and plugging in my usb or plugging in the battery. I can access it through the reboot menu on my phone. this is what i am running at the moment:
Nero v1.3
Overstock kernel 1.2ghz
i was trying to flash a gingerbread rom and had some boot issues, so i switched to the gingerbread bootloader. and the phone worked, minus and issue with the rom that i selected. that's when the download problem started...
what i would like to know is this...
1. is there a way to find out which bootloader is being used at the moment
2. switch back to the stock bootloader SAFELY so that i can odin back to stock and start over.
all help is greatly appreciated
thanks
If you are running a GB ROM and you can see recovery you could assume that ur running a GB bootloader. If not then pretty sure its not. Either way it shouldn't matter if you flash bootloaders on top of bootloaders until you feel comfortable about which ur running, lol. There are both the GB and stock bootloaders in the GB bootloader thread pretty sure you can ODIN using either but, keep in mind that there is an issue with the "Vibrant" splash being replaced with "I9000" when trying to ODIN while still using the GB bootloaders. This is a known issue/non-issue and is addressed in the OP. Good luck!
thanks for your reply... i think i understand what you are saying...

you can find out if you are using GB or froyo bootloader by going to download or recovery mode...they both have different key combination
download mode:
for froyo is volume up + volume down + usb to the computer
for GB is volume up + power button
recovery mode:
for froyo is volume up + volume down + power button
for GB is volume down + power
to flash froyo bootloader here is a link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990
here is a instruction...got it from link mentioned above
ODIN Guide
Please follow this step by step, else I won't be responsible for any DAMAGE.
1. Enter Download mode on your phone.
2. Open ODIN on your computer.
3. Plug in USB and check if ODIN recognizes the phone.
4. Remove all ticks from ODIN, except PDA.
5. Select PDA and browse to the bootloader TAR package file you wish to flash.
6. Click on Flash.
7. If ODIN says PASS, long press power for 10 seconds and it'll reboot, else, repeat 2-6 again...
it has to be a .tar file....
GOOD LUCK...
I am on the gb loader... thanks alot for the information
Thats awesome! Glad you got it werkin!
- Just a fyi you can stay on the GB bootloader and do whatever you want: ODIN, flash in recovery, its all good no worries, just remember about the "I9000" splash deal. Good luck!

Possible Brick. In dier need of help.

Hello everyone,
Short and simple....I've f*cked up.
A) I have no recovery flashed to my device
B) Fastboot/ADB is not working with my device, because the original cable it came with got destroyed, and all other microsd cords I've tried, charge only.
C) I have no rom on the phone.
All I have access to is a 8GB microsd card with adapter to read it in my computer.
My phone is useless right now and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have to ask, how did you end up with no rom or recovery? Have you tried putting a recovery on the phone yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521169
Use the second option (marked easy), granted that works then it should be a matter of loading a rom onto the sd card and flashing?
Good luck!
If you can't get into fastboot, you're pretty screwed... Try and get your hands on an original cable

well good news is that you're not bricked... bad news is that you need a working cable to get into fastboot to flash a recovery as previously mentioned lol
also for future reference this should have been posted in the general sub-forum btw lol
im sorry but i think the only difference between the original cable and the USB Cable Micro USB is that i htink the Original cable has a better layout so it doesn't fall out now? like on my other blackberry the usb comes off so quickly. Here its imposible for it to come off. Shouldn't they function the same? it just has a different head size.

I tried to use the wind RUU, but don't you need to be oem locked, which is done through fastboot?
If I was to gain access to fastboot, what would be recommended to do right away.

Why don't you elaborate a little, how did you get to where you are now. What did YOU do to brick the phone?

First off, this shouldn't be here but in General/Q&A. I'm sure binary will move it there.
Secondly, just to go step by step... When you pull the battery and restart while holding the volume down key what happens?
Lastly, I would recommend placing the wind RUU on your sdcard's root.
Step 1) Visit this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...;<br />Rom||RUU|| Shipped Ruby ROM Collection
Step 2) Download the appropriate PH185,,.zip file to the root of your SD card...
Step 3) Put the sd card in your phone, Boot into HBOOT by Pressing VOL DOWN + POWER together...
When you can get into HBOOT, the system will identify the PH185 image on your card and will ask you if you want to update. Press VOL UP for YES to confirm... and let it flash.
Step 4) Grab a beer and enjoy your Amaze
p.s. If you cant get into HBOOT, than your screwed...
I am able to get into hboot, when I get into hboot, it takes a while for it to read thr file, when it finishes it just dissappears, no prompt to apply update.
I think my usb port is short circuited or something, because sometimes it shows hboot usb, but it flickers on and off. Tried three other wires, only the one shows any sign of usb functionality for me. If going out and buying another wire will help I will go, but I have no idea if it will.
I had the cwm 5.5.504, I had the dual cpu rom on it, but i wanted to change to sense 3.5, and I got stuck in the bootloop. Then when I boot into recovery again, my batt died and now when I try to get into recovery, flashes for a second then goes to white htc screen and hangs there indefinitley.
Usb wires only charge my device as of now.

this is why you flash stuff with a full battery... you probably got stuck in a bootloop because you didnt flash the sense3.5 kernel, so my first recommendation would be to flash the dual core rom.. but since you cant get into recovery... hm...
HOLD ON. cant you flash the older cwm through hboot?! wasnt that the old method? place the pxxxx.zip on your sd and wait? why dont you try that and see if you cant get into recovery?
Do i rename the wind RUU PH85.img as well? or .zip?
I just went through all these steps, and then the PH85IMG.zip loads and reads, but no prompt comes up to update or not.
My phone is relocked via fastboot oem lock
so you got fastboot working, or what?
if so, there was some method to flash that PH85IMG.zip manually
kind of 'fastboot oem rebootRUU' something like that
I just tried that, it brought me to an hboot screeen with a RUU highlighted option, no option to do anything with it.
it should been reboot you in to RUU flashing mode (black screen with some logo in the middle of it)
you didn't answered, your fastboot is working now, right?
so why don't you just flash a recovery? or you tried?
I ended up with this.
my fastboot is working, only because i have the wire contorted in this weird way
If fastboot is working then try downloading the toolkit and using it to flash recovery. First thing to do though is make sure that battery is charged up.

[Q] Problem Xperia X10 mini upgrade to ginger bread

Dear Sir I Want Upgrade my xperia x10 mini to gingerbread.
i followed all steps.
but after i do unlock bootloader My Phone failed Received Network signal. then i do further procedures flash, CWM clock etc.
After CWM clock screen i done Install UPDATE.ZIP from my sdcard. after i switch my phone. when i switch its shown only "SONY ERICSSON" in WHITE LETTERS its not off and on. plz help meeeeee plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
By the sound of things there were a few things that have gone wrong.
First of all, the bootloader unlock... it unlocked ok, but the fact that you lost signal means your phone's simlock-certificate is not compatible with unlocking yout bootloader, you should relock it to get the signal back.
Secondly: (And this can't be done because you can't unlock your bootloader successfully) If you want to run a Gingerbread rom on your X10, chances are you need a custom kernel, and you didn't flash one. The ROM you installed doesn't work with the Sony Ericsson kernel, that's why you are stuck with the white letters.
Solution 1:
Press Home and Powerbutton at the same time, your phone will reboot
Press the Back-button repeatedly to enter CWM
If you made a backup before you flashed the custom ROM, choose Restore and reboot your phone after it's done.
Solution 2:
Press Home and Powerbutton at the same time, your phone will reboot
Press the Back-button repeatedly to enter CWM
Choose the bottom-option - shut down phone.
Leave your phone disconnected from your PC
Go into PC Companion or SEUS and choose update
It can't find your phone and will give you a repair option
Choose that, accept you will lose all your data and select your phone-model
It will download the firmware for your phone, ask you to connect your phone in flash-mode and flash it.
Hope this helps you
(If your phone is sim-locked, ask your provider for an unlock-code (EMMA/IMEI-code), after that you will be able to unlock your bootloader without loss of signal, and flash a custom kernel and rom)
I already done that steps but its not solved not open CWM screen also not updated firmware through repair. plz give solution sir.

this what ive done and i got my device back to stock rom, when i could not access recovery....
then relock your bootloader

HTC One stuck in bootloop.

Hi All,
I have an HTC One that is stuck in a bootloop and have no idea how to fix it.
Unfortunately, there was a screen lock and after failed attempts, it started to delete the data. Stupidly, I tried to reset the phone at this point. As a result, it is stuck in a bootloop.
I have tried holding power and volume down button, volume down button by itself, both volume buttons and still can't get it to fastboot screen.
I am using Mac OSX.
Also, nothing had been done to the phone prior to this. All stock.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You have a few options, though it would be helpful if you had access to a PC, because then you could just use the RUU program to set everything right. You will need to know which variant of the One you have as in from which carrier or region, if it is an international version, as well as the system update that it was on as you can not downgrade while stock. The phone will eventually reboot if you just hold the volume keys and power together for like 30 seconds.
Option 1) Find a Windows PC and download the RUU exe, put the phone in bootloader mode, and follow the directions of the RUU.
Option 2) Unlock the bootloader at htcdev.com, install a custom recovery such as TWRP, and use a custom rom to get going. (This one you should be able to do on a Mac - voids warranty if you have one)
Option 3) Find a way to extract the rom.zip from the RUU exe and use fastboot to flash it. (Might be able to do on a Mac, though not familar with it to tell you what tool you could use to extract files from an exe on OS X)

Thanks for replying.
It is the HTC6500L that was originally used with Verizon in the US. Not sure if it matters but it is currently unlocked and using Optus sim in Australia. I'm not sure what system update it was on
I am going to try and get it working on my Mac first but it is good to know that there are options for me with a windows PC.
So you say that the phone will eventually boot if I hold both the volume buttons and power button down for about 30 seconds?
The phone is currently off as the battery has drained. If I charge it, it automatically goes to the HTC logo and into the boot loop. In order to get anything fixed, I need to get to the recovery screen right?

You'll need to get it to the bootloader screen at least. It definitely should be able to. I have had to deal with similar issues before.

So, I just tried to hold the power button and both volume buttons down for a good couple of minutes and nothing happened. Is that method hit and miss or you are sure that it will work eventually?
