Hi lenovice2828,
To keep it simple, there are two (2) types of phone technologies: GSM & CDMA. There are some some devices on the market that offer both GSM & CDMA - these types of devices are not as common.
GSM
GSM devices have a SIM Card Slot and can be used with cellular providers that offer GSM service. If your device has a SIM Card Slot, it is likely a GSM device. The ROM's in this section of the Raphael forum are for GSM devices and should be useable on your device providing that you have Unlocked & HardSPL'ed your device.

CDMA
CDMA devices typically do not have a SIM card slot and can be used with cellular providers that offer CDMA service. CDMA service providers may not be available in some regions of the world. If your device does not have a SIM Card Slot, it is likely a CDMA device. In this case, the ROM's in this section of the Raphael forum should not be used on your device as they will damage your device. You should look at the Raphael CDMA section of the forum.

Windows Mobile 6.1/6.5
Your device likely came with Windows Mobile 6.1. HTC & Microsoft never released a Windows Mobile 6.5 for the Raphael ... at least not to date. That said, some senior XDA members were able to do the work that was required to make a Raphael version of Windows Mobile 6.5.

Lastly, you can find more information about your device in the XDA Wiki.

is MDAIII hard locked to operators?

Hi,
I'm an happy owner of an XDAII and was considering moving to the new MDAIII because I like the new keyboard and Win2003SE.
I was ready to buy one from T-Mobile Germany and hope great dudes here would help unlock it so that I can use my O2 Sim Card into it, but according to this post it seems it is not possible.
indeed..
Also bought one from T-Mob Germany and was unsuccessfull trying to run the english rom on my device.
I got this message from a source I don't know up to which level I can trust, supposedly coming from an HTC engineer. If that's only half true then is anyone interested by buying a brand new german MDAIII ?
Quote:
The HTC BlueAngel device was specifically added some customization upon operators requests to prevent unlocking and Rom change out of their control. Without entering into too much details, the memory mapping of each device is adapted to the operator by an hardcoded memory address translater. This translater uses a private key generated by operators and embedded into a component (a single-die chip KFG1216Q2M that can be flashed only once). Result is that attempting to flash an incorrect ROM or attempting bootloader insertion of a different language ROM result in no operation being accepted by the BlueAngel bootloader.

any ideas?
That's what I've been told.
unfortunately I didn't get this information before buying my device, I may have wait a lil' bit longer if it has been the case...
If you're any successful upgrading your device please let us know

English ROM
Don´t worry be happy!
As there´s a original T-Mobile English ROM for the MDAII so ther will be the English ROM for the MDAIII, is jest a metter of time.
The problem would be for who wants to change ROM from Qtek9090 (mybe Italian) to MDAIII (with German or English).
But also I´m trusting that someone will be therefore intelligent and cleaver to find the solution for this unlocking Rom too.

Touch Dual Help Please (Tried Searching)

I have tried searching but find the site a bit of a maze, or i find threads with 50+ pages, which for some reason load slow for me, so getting nowhere fast. My search queries came up with nothing, even when i just put in: wm 6.5 for example and selected the Nike forum.
I have a UK Orange Branded Touch Dual, currently unlocked etc with 1.58.16.27 radio and running wm 6.1 professional using i think wwe rom.
I want to update to wm 6.5. I find the radio section a little confusing, which updated version is best for my specific phone? I know i have to update before i can install wm 6.5.
What is the best rom featuring wm.6.5 in english?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, if i can get this done without much fuss, i would happily make a donation to this site.
I think a good idea on this forum would be to make a sub forum which features wm6.5 roms etc, navigating would be so much easier and would be less duplicate threads.
Thanks In advance

Windows Mobile 6.5

Hello,I have HTC Touch Pro with WM 6.1 and I want to install WM 6.5.How can i do that, please answer me.Thanks Regards.Alek
Check out this thread first
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477235
then its about establishing whta kind of phone you have GSM(ATT,Tmoble) or CDMA (sprint,Verizion)
Pick out the rom for you phone that you like the best (its all about personal taste) but take care to not put a GSM rom on a CDMA phone or visa versa or youy will end up with a very expesive paperweight.
Just make sure you take the time to read the wiki and FAQs so you know what you are doing before tryuing to do it.

[Q] Help needed with this one!

I stumbled across this site while looking for some meaningful information about HD2 ROMs - I'm gobsmacked! This is a goldmine of brilliant stuff and generous attitudes - so I'm writing in the hope that someone can help me.
I had an HD2 which was without any doubt the best device I have ever had (or expect to have!) I bought it from a second-hand dealer, it was unlocked from UK Vodafone and worked just fine. It was stolen so I have sourced another which was supplied new and allegedly SIM Free. It turns out to have been destined for the Dutch market (has a Serial Number connected with Brightpoint in Holland) and the only official ROM upgrades I can get from HTC's site are on the Dutch pages which presumably means that my HD2 will then run with a Dutch language interface - not much use to me! I can't get any useful response from HTC support about whether I can use this ROM upgrade and have my phone in English.
So, can anyone enlighten me about this?
Having looked around this site for a while, I can see that there are several rather exciting looking ROMs for HD2 which might be better for me use anyway but I have no idea how to carry out all the various steps mentioned. I did a Vodafone ROM upgrade on my previous HD2 so I'm moderately familiar with the process but I can see references to "Task 29" and other items which don't mean anything to me -sorry for my ignorance, but one has to start somewhere!
If anyone has the time to help me I would be properly grateful!
If it helps, here are some bits of info:
OS version:5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila Version: 1.0.19211620.0
ROM Version: 1.72.831.1 (82124) WWE
ROM Date 03/01/10
Radio Version: 2.07.51.22_2
Protocol Version: 15.32.50.07U
Many thanks and keep up the fantastic work!
Mark
