Speaker problem with hero - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Heyhey,
When i am calling, and put on my over 50% my speaker starts acting wierd (the one that you hold at your ear). It sounds like it cant handle the sound comming out, like its to loud or like there is something wrong with my speaker.
Known problem with the hero and speaker?

i notice the same thing with mine. it sounds like the speaker taps out... almost as if its going to blow. i'm assuming this is a common issue.

Speaker

Any one else having problems with the speaker on the Eris? I noticed today when I got a call that the sound was all tingey and distorted. I don't remember it being like that before.
Yes, at full volume my speaker sounds terrible too.
EG
I haven't noticed anything to be honest, but for some people when I'm talking to them they hear an echo, and it's only when they're talking to me. I don't know if that relates to my phone or theirs.

Ear Piece speaker on TB

I don't know if I'm the only one but I am on my 3rd going on 4th Thunderbolt. The problem is the ear piece speaker as soon as I use speaker phone once or twice it seems to kinda blow out I guess and everything is a lot lower even with everything turned all the way up and some of the sounds that come out of that speaker are so low or totally gone after that happens. Like the lock and unlock sounds cant be heard anymore unless you have the phone to your ear and even then its a really dim barley noticeable click. And when on calls everything is lower out of that speaker even with the volume turned all the way up. And its only with that speaker the back one is perfect.
no problems
yea I just don't know everytime I use speaker phone a few times it seems to happen on a every single one I have had. I've gone to 3 different verizon stores so its not that its one particular store. I'm going later to get another one and the rep at the store said she would give me $20 credit towards a blue tooth speaker if I wanted so I guess I'm gonna do that. I don't know if its just these speakers cant handle full volume on speaker phone?

Anyone notice slightly whirring noise from headphones

Just noticed an odd very light whirring noise from my headphones when they are plugged into the Evo 3d and the screen is updating.
For example when i turn the screen on and the weather animation on my lock-screen runs, it makes the whirring noise, but when I am on a static home screen it is quiet, but then if i swipe to move to the next screen i hear the light noise again. Same if click on the launcher button to open the app drawer, or click on the phone button on the screen and it opens the dialer.
Wondering if this is a common issue/bug, or if I have a defective unit i need to exchange.
The headphones work perfectly fine in my old phone so it isn't the headphones.

I had headphones on for about 40 minutes yesterday morning and didn't notice anything like that at all. Have you tried a different set of headphones?....just to pinpoint in fact that it's a problem with your phone.
I see what you are talking about. The noise is really faint, but I'd say not to worry about it since it may be software related. When browsing apps and what not the sound is gone.

Damn......just put my headphones on again and still nothing like that. Either my phone's not afflicted or my ears are worse then I thought after to many years working in a factory.
I can hear it too, when I scroll I can clearly hear it. This isn't anything new, I've noticed this sort of thing from other devices. Certain laptops will make a tiny squeal when rapidly scrolling something on the screen with the volume jacked up. We're probably hearing added EMI from the increase in CPU activity. Not much you can do about it. :/
The original Evo used to always make this annoying warbling noise during silence. At times it honestly sounded like faint music almost, it was that pronounced.

Yep, that's a fact of life, when it comes to electronic devices. When it puts out enough power, it'll interfere with the headphones (Which, if you think about it, headphones are just a giant magnifier for electronic pulses. Makes sense)
If you don't believe me, hook up an aux cable to your car stereo, and pinch the end. It'll make a buzzing noise. You're electrically charged enough to play music!
Same thing for the internals of your phone. Doesn't take much. Heck, you could probably set your phone next to an MP3 player that you have your headphones plugged into, and still get some interference.
Thanks for confirming that you can hear it too.
I know what you all are saying about electronics having some EMI, but i went back and compared it to my original Evo, and a friend's iPhone 3GS, and neither of the two gave any background noise because the screen was changing/scrolling etc.
Gotta decide if I want to return it. I love the phone's speed, features etc., and this is definitely a minor thing I am bringing up, but it just bugs me a little.
I also have this noise problem, noticed it right away. I also have a slight cracking sound from the speaker when a loud sound plays. It's odd because normally other devices are able to be placed at max volume without hearing distortion. I'm not ready to return it yet, my roomate got one this morning, and I want to see if his does the same.
My Evo did the same thing, especially worse when I had it plugged in.
Same effect on my phone. I just noticed
last night and thought I was hearing things.
I noticed this right away on my 3D. I never noticed any similar sound on my EVO 4G.
Thankfully, it seems to disappear when I am not interacting with the phone. Therefore, it's not a huge issue for me.

Bad sound in a call

Hy
I just received my brand new SGS2 (White) and I noticed a problem with the in call sound. I tried calling my phone with different phones so it's not one phone that's acting up but my phone that has a bad speaker.
The problem I'm experiencing is a scratching sound when someone is talking with a high or low pitched voice. It sounds like a busted speaker.
I'm writing because I'd like to know if the speaker is really so bad on this phone or if it's something wrong with it. My wife can't hear a thing but I's really bothering me.
Note: I'm not talking about external speaker. I'm talking about the headset or whatever you call it. The one that you use in a normal call. I forgot to mention that the scratching sound goes away only if I set my volume below 40%.

Phone makes a weird constant crackling sound when torch is activated.

As soon as torch is activated the phone makes a constant crackle (like static) sound which seems to originate near the top of the phone. If i put my ear up close under the static sound I can hear a second sound, quieter more like a motor spinning hum.
Any ideas?? I need to replace the screen so I need to open it but any suggestions as to what it is or what I am looking for?
Having just put my ear on the back of the phone it could even be coming from the middle of the phone but the top speaker area is noisy and bottom speaker area is quiet so......i'm confused as they are the same distance away.
I am flummoxed
I haven't heard of this problem specifically. But your description sounds like it might be capacitor hum/crackle. When a capacitor goes bad, it tends to make a hum or crackle. And not too many other electronic components make a "noise" when they fail. I also don't know if this is anything you can replace, without replacing the whole board. But maybe that give you a starting point, when you open up the phone. Good luck!
