Wired 3.5mm Headset w/ boom mic - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Accessories

It was surprisingly difficult for me to locate this. Outside of PC headsets, which typically have separate mic and headphone jacks, wired boom mic headsets are almost all 2.5mm. I didn't feel like messing with an adapter (one more thing to lose), and I was considering just splicing a 3.5mm jack onto a 2.5mm headset, when I found this:
It's a Cellet EP35BX. It has an answer button on the ear piece that purports wide compatibility with phones including the CDMA Touch Pro2 (I have the Verizon version). It has the boom mic, it has a detachable ear loop (for those of us who don't trust in ear earpieces to stay steady) albeit an uncomfortable looking one, claims to have some sort of wind noise reduction tech and the boom is flexible. The only two things it's missing that I would have liked is a mute button and a volume dial. If I like it enough, I may try and splice those in someday.
I realize the market for wired headsets is small, and apparently the market for wired with boom mics is even smaller, but just in case anyone else has the same hankering I did, there it is. The image is linked to the cheapest buyer I could find. He has an Amazon store too, I used his standalone store so I could pay with paypal. It's normally $15+, but at the above it's $4.80 + around 3$ shipping.

Accessories & Connections

I'm an XDA newbie, though not a stranger to PDA's (have had Axim X3, TRG Pro and PalmPilot).
I got my unit 2nd user as I needed a phone and PDA combined, but not enough cash for a new one.
I haven't got a Stereo headset for listening to MP3's.
I have seen the connector on the top for the handsfree unit and I have the mono mic and earpiece with 2.5mm plug; but what are the other connectors around the outside by the headset jack for? Is there a special adaptor for stereo?
Also, has anyone come across a good 'universal' charger at a reasonable price? I have a nice little universal battery charger (4 x AA) which has the USA flat pins as standard but these fold flat onto the unit and allow UK 13A or European 2-pin plug-top plates to be snapped on. Something like this for the XDA IIs would be ideal as I sometimes have to travel abroad.
Now if anyone's also come up with a *folding* Desktop USB cradle that would be really handy...
Look forward to hearing from you all

Jabra BT3030 A2DP Stereo Headset

I've been looking around for quite a while for the right stereo headset. (for me) I wanted something with easy access. I could possibly wear or put in my shirt pocket. I found this Jabra BT3030 pretty cheap on eBay. (It may be a knock-off but works great) I think I got it for $26 including shipping Hong Kong to Largo, FL. It did take about 3 weeks to get it but it was well worth the wait.
I tried using the ball chain lanyard that came with it. I found it was a little cumbersome with the extra headset wire and such. I got a nice pair of Skullcandy earbuds. The cheap ones. $14 at CompUSA. Since they were cheap I didn't mind experimenting with them. When I first got the earbuds I was really disappointed. The sound was horrible. No bass, and really tinty. I found that you have give them a chance. They have to break-in. Now I get rich sound and deep ear-rattling bass.
Here is my mod...
I figured out how to pop the earbuds open.
I was able to carefully remove the Skullcandy cable splitter thingy. I actually slid it about an inch and a half from the plug.
I shortened the earphone cables to where they could wrap behind my neck and make it comfortably up to my ears.
I put a small piece of fuel tubing (left over from another hobby) so they crossed behind my neck.
I then soldered the cables back on to the earbuds, and superglued them back closed.
Now I have a comfortable necklace that I can wear around my neck, inside or outside my shirt collar. The dog tag like BT xmitter is small and lightweight so it hangs nicely, usually under my shirt. I can quickly grab an earbud and press answer button on the xmitter under my shirt to answer the phone. I can also listen to tunes while I wait for things to finish while I'm working on computers.
nice one dude! I also have this headset, thanks for the tip...
That's pretty awesome!
Thanks, Glad to help.

Really nice information these little things can make life very easy and comfortable but I prefer wireless connectivity something like Plantronics CS70 Wireless System,Motorola S9 Bluetooth Stereo,Plantronics CS50 Headset which is much simpler for me anyway thanks for the information.

No more dongle!

I hate using the dongle with my wired earphones on my Tilt 2. Even though I mostly use a Motorola S9 BT headset, there are times when the wired earphones are the only option. I prefer the in-ear type sets with silicone cups. I've been looking all over for a set like that with a mini-USB connector so I wouldn't have to use the dongle, but they are nowhere to be found. There are a few sets, including the OEM ones from HTC, but they all have crappy earbuds. I found a set on eBay, but when I got them I was disappointed with the sound quality. They sucked. Decided that I would combine the plug from those with the rest from my nice set of 3.5mm plug earphones. If you've ever cut into the wires on these earphones you know how hard they are to work with. Not wires, actually, more like filaments. They have a cooating on them to prevent shorting so they can be put together without individual insulation. This makes them thinner and more bendable. Unfortunately, it makes them extremely hard to solder. After some considerable time spent figuring out which wire went where (color codes didn't match, one set had 5 wires, the other only 4) I managed to get it all together and now have a mini-USB in-ear silicone headset that sounds awesome and still allows access to the phone controls. No more dongle for me!
Oh yeah, and I can use the FM radio with them.
nvm notice you already saw it

Yeah, and I ordered one last night. Still, there are situations where a corded headset is the only option (airplanes, some government buildings). Not having to use the clumsy OEM dongle is a joy.

heh, i once used my BT headset to listen to music on a plane (shh, dont tell the FAA )
Hey do you, are you able to do a how to, i did think/try, and as try i mean cut the mini usb cord from other headphones, and as u said there were so many difference wires.
Thanks
Not sure about a how-to. The wire colors are different depending on whose headphones you have and whose you sacrifice for the USB end. Soldering these filament wires is a real chore. The color coating is what insulates them from each other in the cord. I scraped the coloring off to expose a little of the copper so I could solder them then I used tiny shrink sleeve to reinsulate them. When all done I slid a larger piece of shrink sleeve over all of it. You'll need a meter to figure out which wire is which, but I can tell you which pins from the USB connector on the phone are which. That'll make it a little easier for you. Give me a day or 2 to make up a diagram.
found good usb dongle for headset

You can get them cheaper on eBay. I got 3 of them for $3 shipped. Amazon charges shipping so you're better off going with eBay. Also make sure you get a bunch of them. The quality of these adapters are pretty bad and they fall apart after a month or so. You get what you pay for.

[Q] Headphones for mw600

Hi
i have a sony ericsson mw600 bluetoothg headphone.the headphone cord s broken and i can hear sound on only one ear...is there any in-ear headphones with short cords similarly to mw600 headphones..
Short cords?
Only thing you can do there is buying the same earphones you had, from a Sony/Sony Ericsson dealer (Mobile accessories)
However... if the cord length isn't that important, and quality is more of a priority, I recommend either one of these:
Creative EP-630
Sennheiser CX300
These are made by the same manufacturer (Fosters, Some Japanese manufacturer), but are branded by several companies, not only Creative and Sennheiser, so all the talk about one being better than the other can be taken with a pinch of salt.
They do however differ in the cord and hardness in the buds, as the Creative one has a softer cord and softer buds, and the Sennheiser one have a stiffer cord and slightly stiffer buds.
You can also buy HPM77 (bundled with W995) and use only short cord, they are basically the same as MW600's.

Cases for big Headphone Jacks?

I've already been through three cases that I chose to return because my headphone jack wouldnt fit far enough into the case to plug into the phone. I was just wondering if anybody else has ran into this problem, and has found a case that your headphones fit into? I'm using Audio Technica ATH-M50's.
