Screen goes blank? - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been having an issue that occur's only once in a while and mainly seems to happen when it is bright out. I will turn on the camera, turn the phone to landscape mode and the screen fades to black as it is being rotated. But if it is in landscape mode and I swivel it left/right while facing me in landscape mode it fades back to a functioning screen. This has also happened to me while using google maps. I have had to do a full reset to stop it and even then it has happened. Anyone have any ideas? I don't have a bunch of crap apps just some basics that have worked fine for me on my other phones.

[Q] Orientation wackiness

Noticed that in at least a couple of apps I installed last night (Words with Friends was one) that when it runs, it forces a portrait orientation that is bizarre. If your typical Portrait is a quarter-turn clockwise from Landscape with the power switch at top left, then this portrait is completely upside down from that, so that your power button would be on the bottom. There was at least one more that did this, perhaps Waze(?) but just wondered if there was a setting to unlock the accelerometer on apps like this...once it starts, it doesn't matter what direction you spin the tablet.
TIA

How to "hacQ" the Nexus Q so portrait apps work on a landscape-only screen

Hi,
Several apps I have tried (maybe ~10% of them) only have portrait mode. This is a problem if you have a TV you can't rotate.
I wonder if anyone has any ideas of how to write, say, a background service that detects if it's displaying in portrait mode, and then shrinks the screen view and flips it 90degrees (so essentially you have a portrait screen that is now the correct way up, with black screen on either side). You can't tell it to display in true landscape because that's hard-coded into the app, so it is better to just rotate the portrait display. However this is a hard thing to do as the screen display is very low-level... but does anyone have any ideas of how to accomplish that?
I've done some searching, but of course Android has never really faced this problem before. Android has either been on a rotatable mobile device, or it's been on a GoogleTV where everything is landscape...
If so, that would open up more apps for Q-compatibility...

[Q] Rotation Misfanction

Hi, my I9100 when the phone is set to auto-rotate, and is in landscape mode, it will not return into portrait mode. Not even if i set it to no auto-rotation. It runs KitKat (Beanstalk) and even if i manage to get it to portrait, the apps that were viewed in landscape will remain in landscape.
Every tme the only solution is to reboot.
Its defently not a hardware issue, but i have noticed while using apps that show the orientation of the phone such as Bubble level, that the phone doesnt detect when it is faced bottom side, up.
Please help

Screen Auto Dimming while using Camera

Anyone else notice this issue.
When I use the phone normally. The auto brightness is fine.
But when I use the Camera, I might be in the middle of a Shot or Viewing a shot and it Dims and will not Go back to Bright even after touching lots of controls.
Not until I exit the Camera and Viewer does the screen go normal brightness again. It's driving me crazy.
If I shut auto brightness off it's fine. But I really want auto brightness.
I tried disabling "Auto Sleep" and it still does it.
Had that happen a few time looking at downloaded pictures (not with the camera yet) , I'd look at for a bit and if I handed my phone off to someone or it slipped out of my fingers when I was zooming on picture. It doesn't happen all the time though and I usually go and uncheck auto brightness when it guessing. Maybe the light sensor thinks the lighting has changed when it hasent then doesnt reset

Yeah something like that is going on. And yeah I think it's often (maybe always) when I'm viewing the picture I just snapped it dims.
If you go back to camera or other app it goes bright again. It's really weird.
I tried the Gallery and it dims "Normally" as it should and when you touch the screen it goes bright again.
But if you view the snapshot you just took from the little preview thumbnail button. It dims rather quickly and if you touch the screen it will not turn back to normal brightness.
I was looking at a screen shot when it happened to me, as soon as I touched the screen it dimmed and wouldn't go back. Now that I think about it I conditioned myself to un check auto brightness when I look at pics or videos.

Question Screen orientation weirdness

Used my pixel 6 for the first time in the car in a landscape mount today and noticed something weird. I am wondering if this is an app issue or the phone. Using Poweramp full version with auto orientation setting on. Every minute or two the screen reverts back to portrait mode, shows the lock screen, then jumps back to poweramp and landscape mode. I thought this might have been related to poweramp keeping the screen always on, but couldn't find a setting for that (poweramp has 100s of settings). I have seem another post related to a problem with the automatic display of the screen orientation setting icon for a few seconds when the phone is held in landscape. Mine displays that momentary icon, and it seems to work as designed. Thanks.
Poweramp does have that setting. It lives at the bottom of the page within the "look and feel" category
