[ClosePlz][Solved][HardSPL] can't update from LEOIMG.NBH - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed my SPL with DTF's HardSPL and I tried to flash a rom from my internal storage.
So I did put the leoimg.nbh in my MicroSD Card then boot + Volume Down, my screen goes for the SPL screen (3colours) then blink for ~1ms on which I think is a grey page then goes back to SPL page.
Any idea?
Solution from Djet:
you have to format your microSD in FAT32, I did it with my stock microSD and it worked. VolumeDown button before starting makes the device boot in UpdateMode (3color screen then gray screen asking to press PowerButton to update from leoimg.nbh or volumeDown to cancel).
thanks!

The grey screen is the one that asks you if you wish to go ahead with the update. I think you're just pressing the Volume button too long after getting to the SPL screen as VOL cancels the update and the power button updates, iirc...

Is your storage card a FAT16-formatted plain SD (non-SDHC)?

no, as I release the VOL button right when I start seeing the 3color screen, like 1s before the gray blink. I guess that it's the update screen that shows up but I want to know why it doesn't stay and if it is a bug from HSPL

It's the retail one (2Go) FAT 16 formatted

Same problem here, I tried flashing from two different SD card without success.
I tried even with gold card method, same results.
I think is relating with HSPL that I flashed 2 days ago.
Anyone have a solution for this problem?

I've just realized the stock 2GB goldcard I used to flashing with HSPL is actually FAT32, not FAT16. You could try.

It worked. Today I bought a 2GB microSD (sandisk) card, I formatted to FAT 32 in Windows, I put .nbh from stock 1.43, and gray screen appeared with loading… etc, now i'm back to 1.42 again. Be careful when loading screen appear, remove the volume down button otherwise you will stuck in bootloader.
Thank you djet for your help.

I have the exact same problem but your suggested fix does not work.
I've tried several different sdcards and formatted using sdcard.org program, panasonic formatter, windows XP format to FAT32, Linux mkfs.vfat, mkfs.msdos, but I can't flash any LEOIMG.nbh file I try at all anymore.
I'm stuck as the USB connector on my phone has broken and I need to flash it back to stock to get it repaired.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know this sounds silly, but are you sure you are trying to flash an allowed ROM for your phone? My T-Mobile UK phone would not allow me to flash the HTC 1.66WWE ROM via SD Card, but it would with the 1.72 TMUK ROM.
Can you not format the microSD Card with the phone? Are you using the SD Card that origionally came with the phone, as 8+GB cards are known to cause problems.

like this problem
my phone is hd2 t-mobile from USA. problem is update progress is going to RADIO_V2-OK RCUST-OK BOOTLOADER-OK SPLASH1-OK. problem is OS and CINFIGDATA can not update.
please help

I have had the same problem. This might could be useful to someone.

I've tried 32 and 16gb cards. The only one which worked was my 8gb card although they were all formated to the same format fat32.

Aaaah typical, it would be the one thing I didn't mention! There has been reported issues when using sd cards larger than 8GB (but I've managed to use 16GB cards before, which is why I didn't mention it). At least now you know what the problem was..
Glad it all worked out!

I had the same problem. When I tried to just name it to leoimg (so leave out the .nbh) it worked for me.

hi, you must place the rom on the sd card and then softrest while holding down the camera button. this will make the phone enter the bootloader and look for a rom on the sd card. i think that roms have to be specially cooked to be flashef in this way

yes it is too easy with a search in this forum so no one bother to reply...i think....
Format SD-Card as FAT32.
rename RUU_Siged.nbh to GENEIMG.nbh, Put GENEIMG.nbh on SD-CARD (root).
Charge your device at 100%!
Insert SD-Card in Gene, press AND HOLD "Camera" button, and do soft-reset.
If you see white screen with "Reading SD content":
Release "Camera" button, wait, and when countdown (start from 10s) in left-bottom corner of screen is appear, press "Power" button. Flashing is begin, and approx. 8 minutes long. After you will see "Success. Press any key". Do soft-reset. Congratulation.
PS: not all the rom can be flash via SD card, if you failed, do it the normal way with USB RUU

One thing more
In normal way by flashing using PC i make this before
1.Olipro's SPL for Old Gene
2. i have now white screen so i can flash the rom otherwise the device will breakdown if i did not jump the spl
SO by sd card there is no need to jump spl or what , explain please
greate very usefull info thanks
@Zinzar: I have never used JumpSPL trick, right from the time i flashed my first ROM, i flashed the HardSPL and as mine is a New Gene the Olipro method bricked it and then i unbricked it using Orefkov's method. HardSPL is permanently applied and is never needed to apply again. After that you can flash your phone in both way, RUU and SD Card. NO special thing is needed to do. just format the sd card with Fat32, 4096 kb cluster size (the default one), put the RUU_Signed.nbh on sd card and rename it to GENEIMG.nbh, reboot the phone in bootloader mode and it will read the rom file from sd card. After that just follow the onscreen instructions.
I hope i have answered your query coz i dont really got your question.

hi all,
i have recently upgrade rom ver 6.5 21501 using sd card method.

How to flash rom on gene from the sd card
hi
pls see below details for the same
.HOW TO FLASH ROM ON GENE FROM THE SD CARD
1. Rename the .nbh file of your rom of choice to GENEIMG.nbh, drop into the root of your SD card.
2.Poweroff your phone
3.hold the volume down key and while continuing to hold it power on ur phone
4. The Phone will go into the bootloader mode, and will auto detect the rom image from the SD Card and ask if you want to proceed by hitting the power button. Hit the power button and the rom will install
Note : it should take about 10-15 mins (as of now i have not tried this try at ur own risk )
also make sure that ur SD card is Fat32 or format the same to Fat32 & use a smaller memory card the smaller the better
this is as per my experience using the above method on my previous phone ie gene(P3400i)
correct me if im wrong
thanks
hari

[Need Help] my rw6828 going brick

can some body hep me?
before many time i tried flash my rom using wm6.1 form SD card and never found a problem.
but yesterday, because my sd card full, i formated it on windows XP, I choose FAT on type of partition. after finish, i copied diskimg.nb0 and flash my 6828,
and nightmare begin
after 10 or 15 minute, from bootloader mode, my 6828 screen going purely black and no process anymore. no led indicator on.
when i press power button, nothing happen.
I try remove a battery for a minute, press 2 button and insert batter again, and yes boot loader showed again but after 10~15 minuted going brick again.
I try change diskimg.nb0 on sd card to wm5 original HP, but facing same problem.
last, I try formatted sd card to FAT32 (512 MB), do flash again, and after boot screen going freeze, or showed a minuted, flip then going to boot screen again.
somebody can give me an advice, thank for you help
From your explanation it seem that you still have bootloader, it mean you can fix your device.
Try to reformat your SD Card, choose FAT default partition and do scandisk to recover if any bad sector, or you can use another SD Card. Then reflash your device, you can use others ROM for 6828.
Good Luck.

Multiple Q's :P

Basically, here is m problem:
I have a hermes. The GSM wasent working. I though maybe an upgrade to WM6 could correct some software bugs.... Wrong!
I realized it actually briecked (type 1a). Trying to follow the instruction to fix it, but i am not able to send ANYTHING to it!. Either by SD or Custom RUU. Finally i am standing with a Hermes, WM6, and it will NOT accept any flashes i try to put in it!
Its on HardSPL (2.10) IPL 1.04
Thanks in advance
Stephen_D
EDIT: Forgot to say what happens when i try to flash it!
With an SD card all I get it "Loading..." then returns to the bars
By USB it starts updating And freezes on 0%, then the software pops an error after 5 mins like what it can communicate.
Thanks
sort of the same problem...
I've been trying to flash a ROM for the past hour now and my phone doesn't get flashed.
(I already have HardSPL and I'm using a 1gig micro sd)
What I did:
Format the sd card to FAT32
copied the RUU_signed.nbh to sd card then renamed it to HERMING.nbh
I place the sd card on the phone that's connected to a charger
I press Power Button and Ok button on the left side then push reset
What happens:
It goes to bootloader mode (tricolor screen)
then it says loading...(2 seconds)
then goes back to the tricolor screen again
I waited for the prompt that I need to push the Power Button but it never came, so I soft reset it and tried it again but the same all over again.
The ROM I was trying to flash is the AT&T stripped ROM, I read it here that it's better to flash a stock ROM first before flashing/upgrading to a cooked ROM.
By the way I just found out that my X01HT isn't a Softbank, it's a DoCoMo.
Is my phone upgradeable?
Can someone please tell me what I missed?....I really want to upgrade my phone without bricking it.
Thanks!

What format is your SD card? Fat or Fat32?
Its gota be Fat32 to flash from it.
it's all good now....
I've given up flashing my phone from the sd card so I decided to flash it with my laptop instead. Luckily it worked without a hitch.
I'm so loving my phone now, been playing with it for 2 hours and the usual hang ups I got before are non-existing anymore.
To use the sd card method you need to check that the .nbh file is hermimg.nbh, NOT herming.nbh as you had written on your previous post.
The holy trinity of sd card flashing, Formated FAT32, Named hermimg.nbh & sd card is 2Gb or less...
Cheers...
I see.....
ok hermimg.nbh
will try this again, maybe next week since I'm enjoying my new ROM right now.
Thanks ultramag69!

[Q] Trouble restoring stock HD2 ROM

Hope someone can help. I've been running the Energy ROMs for a while, and decided to give Android a whack. Installed MAGLDR and the Desire ROM but want to restore the original OEM ROM, but can't seem to get it done.
I've formatted FAT32, extracted the .nbh from the archive, copied it over and renamed it leoimg.nbh (should it be upper case, or, leo_img.nbh?), and press the reset & volume down button. I get the HSPL screen, the gray screen flashes for only a second and disappears, then the HSPL screen shows again.
I am using the 16Gig SD card. Is it possible that's the problem? I've read a lot of things in a lot of threads, but can't seem to figure it out.
What gives? Any ideas?

almost certainly.
most 16, many 8 and 4 gig cards wont work
What Sam said.
Use a < 8Gb card. Single partition. FAT32.
I don't think the file name is case sensative but could be wrong.
Thanks,
Al

I did the same, but I just flashed back to the energy rom by running it from the desktop via windows mobile device center and not the sd card. So try running from the desktop with you desired rom.

[Q] HSPL?!?

I flashed a stock rom
_HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship
and now I check my bootloader and it says
spl-2.08 cotullahspl
so what's wrong?
I saw around the forum that hspl is erased after stock flash?
whats wrong?
hspl is only erased if you restore an official rom from your microSD card.
This is noted in 4) in the HSPL thread.

so how do I do that?
can it be done with my 8GB / 1GB sd?
what files do I import to my sd and how do I flash it?
You should really put a little more effort in searching yourself than just asking questions. If you read the HSPL thread it is all noted there and this question has been asked 1,000,000.48 times already.
okay, thanks anyways for the answer, I will check into it
Check this
Run HSPL3_PKG.exe and select SPL 1.66.0000 or a different Version with 0000 at the end.

No sir, Don't use a 8GB SD-card to flashing Stock ROM!
Maximum 2GB is recommended.
Steps:
- Right klick on the HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30. 50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship select Extract (Winzip/Zip7/...)
- Copy the "RUU_signed.nbh" to SD card
- Rename the "RUU_signed.nbh" to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
- Follow the steps on your device.
Why wouldn't you be able to use a 8GB card? The only card I have is 8GB and I've used it 2 times to restore stock rom and it has gone perfectly...
[edit]
I just tried it again it at least works perfectly for me:
1. Format SD card through windows (FAT32)
2. place leoimg.nbh of official rom on it
3. Hold voldown and power to enter bootloader screen and press power to flash
It dit restart once about 20% through with a big exclimation mark, but restarted immidiatly and completed the flashing.
This has happened once before when I had HSPL'ed my device and restored it this way.

The reason way I mentioned (don't use a 8GB SD-card) is based on the feedback of users.
Flash stock ROM over a 8GB SD_cards don't work in almost 70% of the cases. so to prevent (lot of troubles) We mention to use preferable a 2GB or a 4GB SD (the latest who works in 85% of the cases)
ok guys, thanks for the feedback
+1 thanks for everyone
