Hi all
After finaly getting tomtom version 5 installed I run into the dreaded no backlight
Can any one help here please, I have tried the following so people know, thanks to all who help
I have changed the reg entries manual to 300 and 600 for
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\ACTimeout
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\BatteryTimeout
Have tried messing with the backlight settings in the control control, no good
I have tried the tomtom backlight fix, installed the dll, run the setup, says copied shortcut, the shortcut is there with no icon, when i run it, nothing happens
Does any one else have any more ideas otherwise i will have to reflash my xda2 back to 2003 Sad

my backlight is fine wiv mine while using tomtom but it just leaves the blacklight and screen setting to neva timeout when i close it
Can i ask what settings you are using and how did you install it

Hello,
I was sick of using the regeditor to fix the messed up backlight settings everytime I started TomTom5, so I looked for a better solution.
I figured it would be the best if TomTom wouldnt mess with the settings
at all, so I changed the binary. it is not very hard to do.
copy the TomTom Navigator.exe to you windows pc.
grab a hex editor and change the following
0x182b9c 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182c0c 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182c3c 0x61 -> 0x62
0x182ca0 0x61 -> 0x62
what this does is change all the Registry Paths
ControlPanel\Backlight
to
ControlPanel\Bbcklight
as the result, TomTom will not be able to modify the settings at all.
everything will stay with your default values.

I used a "HHD Software Free Hex Editor" but can’t find this numbers to edit
This newbie (no program experience) need some help...pleazzzz
in my case 0x182bc9 value is 00 and 0x182b9c is 69. How can this be ? I changed both of them to 61 (in 2 different files, mind you) and they both work, allthough the latter crashed a few times.
@ postman : I used xvi32 from this site, no programming experience either. I just opened navigator.exe, went to the mentioned addresses and changed the numbers. Seems to work..........

yes, edit the 4 files and saved it to the exact same name as bevore and reload the exe to the same place on the mda2
i edit only the 0x182bc9 and not the ...9C
is that the problem?
well try to leave c9 as it is and edit 9c. Both of them work on my MDA but you never know. You can also email me the .exe and I'll try it on my device.

These (Bold RED) brackets are causing the reg entry to not import correctly. But this is exactly what the reg entry says on the device currently. I am doing this to have a one in all install for a CAB entry including my username/pass etc installed with the program. I am using WinCE CAB manger. Any idea of other syntax to use or I am stuck manually entry ever time I reload the program.
what registry editor did you use to export the keys??
I have used PHM and Mobile Reg editor Desktop
i always used mobile reg edit, which is an app that runs on your desktop and connects to your phone to pull the registry and make changes as well as export keys... Using this program i have no issues importing them into wince cab manager.

That is the one I used. I have never seen a reg entry for the key name end in ] before until the slingbox key for each user pref device you setup. I think it wont import correctly due to the reading the ] means end of the reg key name and it looks like a typo of a double ] but actually the last digit is ] and then the syntax to end e reg key name line is also ]. How well. I need to learn how to do the sbpm.xml file but no info is available for the mobile player but the PC slingplayer has a method to write your own xml file to save/backup your settings.

Why doesn't anyone ever report this kind of thing to us directly, instead of making me hunt them down in random forums scattered across the Internet? Blah.
The REG import is fixed to handle the double ']' characters for the next version of WinCE CAB Manager. Contact OCP Software Support directly if you come across anything else, please.

I justed checked your webpage. I am 2.1.0.35 , in 2.1.0.50 it is working correct? Or are you about to release a newer version?

Maybe you need to slide to Weather tab > Menu and "Enable My Location"?
if you get no other hints, try fiddling with registry,

that's three in a row, same here
when i go to install it - the android system ask me to allow this application to :
read my gps to get my location .. .ok
access to my personal information.. hmmm ok...
Network access.. ok
directly call phone numbers? ... umm - no...
and access to system tools to issue system level alerts.. ok.
Why would this program need to directly call my phone numbers?
I'm not even going to try it...
Or am I being too paranoid?..
Here are the installation instructions:
step by step using root explorer
move miuiweather.apk to sdcard
open root explorer and navigate to /sdcard
long press on miuiweather.apk and hit COPY
navigate to /system/app
hit menu - PASTE (if it says you can't because its read only, hit the top right button mount r/w, then paste)
longpress on the miuiweather.apk in /system/app
select permissions
make checkboxes look like following: (where x indicates check, 0 indicates unchecked)
Read Write Execute
X ---- X ---- 0
X ---- 0 -----0
X ---- 0 ----0
(all three checkmarks in first column, first checkmark in second column)
same thing with the db file, except instead of /system/app, navigate to /data/data/com.miui.weather/databases/ to paste it
and permissions should look like this

you SHOULDNT "install" anything, just move the files to the proper places with proper permissions, and reboot.

Hi, which order are you talking about ?
for [Ping] command for example with google, you just need tape :
ping google.com
and then ,tape "enter" button.

Ok no problem. With "Start" command , you execute/open different programm
For example :
// open a website with arguments
start http://google.com/search?q=test
// open new email
start mailto:[email protected]
// open Bluetooth menu
start ms-settings-Bluetooth
After you can mix and make a 'batch' script file , or create a shortcut tile link to this script
Example :
Step 1 - write the code into a file with (echo) for open Bluetooth menu
echo start ms-settings-Bluetooth >> c:\data\test.bat
Step 2 - execute the (shortcut) command for create a tile to the home screen (.ink)
shortcut /n myTileTItle /t c:\data\test.bat
/n => shortcut name
/t => target file
/i => icon picture
you can check the sample scripts to "c:\scripts" and try to open the code with the type command.
Example :

this feature is already there in your app ,
like if you type " start zune " : xbox music will open
or start whatsapp : whatsapp opens .
there is list of uri for almost apps on nokia wiki website .
. but i was looking for , something like "Native Toast Launcher " . can you look into that ?

Ok, i got it now. I will work on this new feature, and implement it for the next update . Between the middle and the end of january I agree with you , this feature can be interesting .

@Stefan Caromov , sorry for now , you can only use the [w] and [n] arguments for set the timeout or how many packet will be send . By the way you can not see the size of packet size. I take not now for implemant this new feature in the next update
