Down-to-earth, plain vanilla ROM required but not found - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

Dear all,
I have looked around some ROMs (see list at the end of the message) for Prophet but it seems that there is no ROM which would fit my (rather down-to-earth) criteria:
- no 3rd party GUI or Start Menu or User interface - just the plain one as in Winmo65.PNG in the attachment
- support for "conventional" task/icon bar at the top of the screen (like on WM 5), so I can use "Magic Button" utility which enhances the taskbar
- full "native" choice of "Microsoft-provided" keyboards and input devices, incl. writing recognition
- support for Java ME (or, possibly, Java ME and Java SE, using IBM's JVM), and .NET 3.5
- office preinstalled ("old one" would be OK, also the slow "2007" one would be OK
- "native" contact application, no "enhancements" or 3rd-Party plugins
- "native" blue or black or green UI colour still available for choice; font size can be adjusted as usual
- working camera software
- bundled/preinstalled software for tethering over bluetooth and/or USB (i.e. using the phone as access point when the phone uses GPRS) without having to shut down the phone functionality, and without continuous ActiveSync activity
- availability of a(ny) task manager
- availability of WPA2 (preferably with the option to use both the native and a 3rd-party connection manager, e.g. one from HTC)
- dependable, one-touch-on-display pickup when the phone is ringing (my current ROM requires me to slide a button on the screen, which fails to work in 50% of the cases)
- dependable volume setting (with my current ROM, I have to readjust the volume when the callee picks up - otherwise, I don't hear him/her)
- in CAB installation, "no delete after installation" behaviour
I have some "wishes" which are optional but beneficial:
- support for Russian input, if possible
- additional keyboard with iPhone-like buttons, if possible
- possibility to deinstall the add-on software (e.g. the aforementioned JVM)
- if possible, selection between threaded and non-threaded view of SMS and Emails
- no Windows MarketPlace necessary
- if possible, newest Pocket Internet Explorer
- support for "GPS sharing" (I think this was available in WM5)
- sufficient space in RAM to run a navigation product (TOmTom run successfully on the original WM5 which my vendor supplied)
Would someone point me to a ROM which fulfills the aboce requirements, or, if none exists yet, be a kind soul and cook such one? I prefer something that is based on 6.5.3 As 6.6 does not bring any new functionality for Prophet users, there are no reasons to wait for it, right?
Many thanks,
mischka41

[ROM] 043009 -- 'LouzeBerry' 6.5 -- standard TF3d, Fuzeberry, Build 21500

Versions based on newer 21215 HERE
'Louzeberry' 6.5 ROM -- Version 043009 (changelog below)
This is my latest personal build. I'm posting it because I didn't notice any chefs putting together 6.5s with the standard TF3D, and I figured there might be people like me who are waiting until xboxmod gets done with converting the shipped version of TF3D2 to make the switch.
Getting to know this ROM:
* 6.5 Build 21500 (Versions based on newer 21215 HERE).
* TF3D STANDARD with the FuzeBerry theme (turned off by default in favor of the new 6.5 Titanium interface; you can switch it in the Today settings).
* FuzeBerry for the 6.5 Titanium interface.
* Rhodium menu enhancement and Tachi-style notifications.
* The HTC Dialer is no longer installed, starting with 042909. There is a known conflict between the HTC Dialer and the lock screen in this version of WM6.5. BUT the standard dialer is skinned to look much better than it does by default.
* HTC Volume is omitted, because it won't change in-call volume without the HTC Dialer. Instead, this volume app which is skinned to look almost the same is included.
* HTC Album 2.5, with the social networking uploaders. I'm not crazy about the new behaviors 3.0, or about the fact that the uploaders aren't currently included in that version.
* Opera 9.5 16277, Advanced Config, Google Maps, Titanium Customizer, Total Commander, Weathermaster (all uninstallable)
* Keyboard configured for the Fuze. Use this if you've got a non-Fuze Touch Pro.
* Available with and without HTC on-screen keyboards.
* Removed certain TF3D tabs (see 042409 changelog). If you want them back, disable TF3D and unzip this to your windows folder.
* User Customization compatible.
* Any trouble installing items or accessing 'net with with JBEd? Change this setting. (Thanks to DN).
* Hotfix: "Phoneagent fix." If you're using a 042909 or 043009, the "Phone" softkeys don't work. This takes care of that.
Changelog / Download:
043009NOKB - NO HTC Keyboard version (makes using 3rd party keyboards easier)
043009NB- HTC Keyboard included
- Updated to Opera 16277
- Power-saving tweaks enabled by default
- Connection setup won't try to start before initial customization
- JBed Start Menu shortcut added back
- Fixed ugly fonts in keyboard / PC Connection screen fixed when TF3D was disabled
- Hotfix: "Phoneagent fix." If you're using a 042909 or 043009, the "Phone" softkeys don't work. This takes care of that.
042909NOKB - NO HTC Keyboard version
042909KB - HTC Keyboard included
- No longer includes HTC Dialer, to avoid conflicts with WM6.5 lock screen, BUT skins the default dialer to look pretty nice (thanks to Davey01)
- HTC Volume is omitted, because it won't change in-call volume without the HTC Dialer. Instead, this volume app which is skinned to look almost the same is included.
- Incorporates the 042509 hotfixes. SMS freeze should be gone. Scroll wheel should work (and in lots of apps besides just the ones enabled on stock)
- Switches to jbed package provided by NRGZ28 (small goof, missing jbed shortcut in start menu; install this to fix it)
- Hotfix: Ugly font in keyboard when TF3D is off, or in the "Connect to PC" screen? Install this (Cabbed up courtesy of Captain_Throwback)
- Any trouble installing items or accessing 'net with with JBEd? Change this setting. (Thanks to DN).
042509NOKB - NO HTC Keyboard version
042509KB - HTC Keyboard included
- Fixed Comm manager issue
- Replaced Jbed with a different version. This one includes Opera Mini and the Gmail app out of the box, both available from Start menu
- "Programs" softkey in TF3D home, which didn't 't do any good without the programs tab available, Changed to "Contacts"
- Today screen previously had "Contacts" for both the right and left softkeys if neither TF3D nor Titanium was enabled. Now it'll be Contacts / Phone (just like TF3D)
- Fix for issue where the HTC keyboard can cause a freeze when typing in an SMS recipient name. Edit: Maybe not. But this should work: Install this hotfix if you have this problem.
- If there was indeed a problem preventing "Favorite Contacts" from being installed, it seems fixed. Working just fine on my tests.
- Speed boosts (no need to d/l that cab from the 042409 changelog)
- Install this hotfix to get the scroll wheel working in lots and lots of applications.
042409nokb - No HTC Keyboard version
042409kb - HTC Keyboard included
- New default TSK theme is a modified "Rock and Republic Black," with wallpaper by yours truly
- Holding down power button now brings up PSShutXP
- Removed the following tabs from TF3D: Calendar (doesn't do anything), Programs (I just use the 6.5 start menu), Call History (same settings are already in TF3D), Communications (ditto), Sounds (ditto). If you want them back, disable TF3D and unzip this to your windows folder.
- Tachi notifications are again uninstallable. May eliminate them from the next version and just provide the cab.
- "LB" Wallpaper in three colors. All included wallpapers (except "minimalistic") are now by me.
- More cleanup to save a small amount of extra space on the device
- New welcomehead
- You can boost performance with this cab (tweaks to be included by default in next release; this was updated a few times with more tweaks - the most recent version was put up in the early hours of 042509, and is def. worth redownloading if you got it before then)
(See txt file for 042209 and before)

Calendar problem
Hi, very nice try i prefer TF3d and more tabs, i flashed the rom from yesterday because with other 6.5 versions i had problem with GPS it makes disconnection several times. I don't have this problem any more. The inly bug is that the calendar in TF3d doesn't work.
Thanks
When you say the calendar doesn't work, how exactly do you mean? If it's just that all you can do is view the month, but not interact with it (no clicking through to the date, no seeing appointments, etc) that's really all there is to the calendar in this version of TF3D. It's sort of a pointless tab.
Nice in deed. I have made a FuzeBerry for WM 6.5 if anyone would like it to match TF3D....
Calendar problem
Yes i mean this excactly, but if you can only view the month in this version of TF3D then the rom is the only one with no GPS problem.
Thank's again and i will give feedback if i find any bug.
Thanks Matt -- Think that's working it's way into my next version. Do you have an existing OEM package for it you could point me to?
Pirgas -- Glad to hear the GPS works for you, but I haven't done anything special to it. I would think most of the ROMs built off Da_G's should work, unless the chefs have been tinkering with settings I haven't touched.
I don't know either what's the problem but after i flashed your rom i installed the same programs with other chef's roms. After that in your rom the GPS is locking very fast also battery drain is lower than other roms
regards
John
Hey Lou,
got any screen captures of your new rom?
Sounds interesting...
New version coming later today/tonight (Thursday) with some enhancements/additions, including the Fuzeberry theme for the 6.5 interface. Will put up some screenshots then.
this is one sweet rom one of the best. recently switched to wm6.5 roms and this one has to be the fastest of them all. I was hoping you could add some stuff like the finger keyboard, it takes forever to install afterward, and maybe the 4-in-a-row programs and settings honeycomb menu, 3 in a row is just not enough. and maybe some little programs nuelite, google maps, opera, and sort them in categories, like all chef's do.
But dont have to listen to me its a great rom as it is. Keep it up.
Google Maps and Opera will be added in tonight's build (both as cabs during initial customization, so uninstallable or easy to replace with an upgraded version). Possibly also switching to 21202 as well; not sure yet. May add Fingerkeyboard in the future -- the authors request that chefs contact them first and I haven't yet. Advanced Config also probably in tonight's.
Glad it's fast for you, but it's essentially just a build off of Da_G's kitchen with very little modification -- i barely know what i'm doing yet as a chef, so I'm going slow.
Also in tonight's, if i stick with 21500, I'll be rolling back to an earlier version of the lock screen that fixes a few issues. No fix I know about yet for the dialer/lock screen conflicts, though.
Build will be posted sometime late-night. I'm at work until around midnight.
Cool then I might just try making my own rom, but i have to warn you you have already made and have most of the things i want in mine so it will look a lot like yours.
I just have one q... How did you get calendar in the original touchFlo thats the only reason I like the rhodium is for the calendar but somehow you got it in te original TouchFlo.
Please, tell me where you got it.
Certain themes for the original TF3D include a Calendar -- including Fuzeberry. All it does is show the month, unlike the TF3DII version, where you can actually use it to see your calendar events. But if it's useful for you, it's there. If not, you can disable it (and any other tabs you may not use) in Advanced Config (which will be part of the new build).

I'm on the same Radio (which I highly recommend, actually), and haven't had a problem. Try uninstalling the "turbo GPS" item under "Remove programs" and see if that helps.
What GPS program are you using? I've only tested with google maps.
EDIT: FYI - Putting up a new build without those GPS Tweaks and with a (hopeful) fix for the audio skipping that's been a problem with this generation of HTC devices ... will be ready in a few ...
i use igo8 and destinator7 and both have the same problem. i updated the radio to 1.14.25.05 but nothing. With your first rom the things are better but the problem is still there. Not so often but it exist. I tried almost all the 6.5 roms and i think i will go back to 6.1. I have spend a lot of time on this problem and i don'n know if it worth . i 'll give a final try on B version .
Thank's a lot for your time and your nice rom

If you haven't flashed yet (and you're on a Fuze) wait for 041809, building and uploading now. Same as 0417, but configured for the Fuze rather than TP. Also, in 041708, the AGPS wasdisabled by default -- it's enabled and set up for AT&T here. BIG difference if you're on AT&T.
Excellent ROM....Thank you
I have a couple of ideas for...please don't take the wrong way
1. Tools for customizing/configuring that work with your ROM
example: HTCWeatherMaster, TF3D Config.
The reason I pointed these 2 out because I've installed several versions and can't get it to work.
2. Can we have a shortcut for AudioManager
I haven't come across a TF3D or TF3D2 ROM with one yet. I'd be nice to access our music from the programs tab also.
3. Throw in a basic BLACK theme to match TF3D's background or include pairs so that we can match both right out the box.
Again...Excellent ROM.
I haven't tried any 6.5's because they all included TF3D2 which still has too many issues I don't want to deal with.
I also like how you took all the good from TF3D2 to create this ROM.
I'm running 041509 version right now by the way (@ time of this post).
DWNY (responding point by point)
1) Sure, I can include those, but what wasn't working when you tried them? Did the install fail? Did they fail to do what they were supposed to?
2) Do you mean the TF3D music tab, or the music player program included on some other HTC devices? If you know of a good working version, point me in the right direction.
3) Let me see what I can do -- I haven't paid much attention to whether TSK files from older versions of WM work on 6.5, or if there are any new good versions of Black made specifically for 6.5. I'll poke around and see what I can learn. But you do realize that background on TF3d is no background at all, right -- there's just no default wallpaper set.
Might be a day or two before I get to a new build. When I do, I'll upload versions both including and excluding the HTC keyboard.
Wordsmith9091 (responding point by point)
Thanks for the response.
1. The 2 I mentioned installed but ran with errors.
2. Yes, the music player that launches from the music tab. I thought/think it is AudioManager. I've come across all the pieces to TF3D/TF3D2 but not music player. I tried an older version from the TILT....no go.
3. But you do realize that background on TF3d is no background at all, right -- there's just no default wallpaper set.
I used a .TSK from 6.0, 6.1 and the background does change along with the bars. Some .TSk don't change both, bottom & top bars sometimes.
Thanks again....looking forward to new builds.

[ROM] - 06/12/2009 - LouzeBerry - 6.5/21812 - Original TF3D + Fuzeberry

'LouzeBerry' 6.5 ROM -- Version 061209 (changelog below)
This is my latest personal build. I'm posting it because I didn't notice any chefs putting together 6.5s with the standard TF3D, and I figured there might be people like me who are waiting until xboxmod gets done with converting the shipped version of TF3D2 to make the switch.
Getting to know this ROM:
* 6.5 Build 21812
* TF3D STANDARD with the FuzeBerry theme (turned off by default in favor of the new 6.5 Titanium interface; you can switch it in the Today settings).
* FuzeBerry for the 6.5 Titanium interface.
* Rhodium menu enhancement
* Tachi-style notifications (uninstallable)
* Opera 9.5 16277, Advanced Config, Google Maps, Titanium Customizer, Total Commander, Weathermaster (all uninstallable)
* HTC Album 2.5, with the social networking uploaders. I'm not crazy about the new behaviors 3.0, or about the fact that the uploaders aren't currently included in that version.
* Available with and without HTC on-screen keyboards.
* User Customization compatible.
(See further notes in next post)
061209B-KB - With HTC Keyboard
061209B-NOKB - Without HTC Keyboard (makes installing third-party keyboard easier)
- Updated to 21812. Scrolling is getting SNAPPY.
- Switched from HTC's Config Setup to WM6.5's
- Several updated packages, including a more WM6.5-friendly version of the HTC Task Manager
* Please re-download if you grabbed the original version. Corrected version is 061209B.
* If you have trouble starting YouTube: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3953769&postcount=124
Other recommended build:
052109KB - With HTC Keyboard
052109NOKB - Without HTC Keyboard (makes installing third-party keyboard easier)
- Returned to 21222 SYS. To put it eloquently, it's many much more betterer. Seems faster than the newer builds, and several people in the kitchen thread report minor bugs with 21231/2 they didn't see in 21222.
- Updated Google Maps. Street View!
- New Bluetooth driver. Da_G's description: It "has been modified to remove AVRCP being tied directly to WMP, that is it should function with whatever app you're using that supports AVRCP control now."
- New keyboard driver. The home key now calls the start menu (hitting the end key, as before, will get you to the home screen)
- Some new wallpapers. Hope you like indy chick rockers and/or bluegrass-informed acoustic alternative. Want an LB wallpaper that exactly matches the color of the current welcomehead (hey, I think it looks nice)? Download the "Blueback.zip" attached to this post (made it after the build).

Important Notes:
* Standard dialer, but skinned to look much nicer than it does by default.
* HTC Volume is omitted, because it won't change in-call volume without the HTC Dialer. Instead includes an app that looks almost identical
* Keyboard configured for the Fuze. Use this if you've got a non-Fuze Touch Pro.
* Removed certain redundant TF3D tabs. If you want them back, disable TF3D and unzip this to your windows folder.
* Any trouble installing items or accessing 'net with with JBEd? Go into JBed's network settings and manually pick the network appropriate for your carrier. Only a concern under certain network setups for the phone.
* Not everyone loves the Tachi notifications; they don't always act like you'd think. You can uninstall them under "Remove Programs." That will get you the default WM-style notifications. If you want the HTC-style large-button notifications (like on the stock ROM), install this as well.
* Beginning with 050609, the BioTouch files that are the core of the TouchFlo finger-scrolling are omitted, as they interfere with WM6.5's own scrolling in some cases. The practical upshot is that finger scrolling should be improved in many applications, but it won't work at all in YouTube. But using this application, you can scroll through YouTube (and lots of other stuff) nice and quickly with the scroll wheel. If you really can't live with this, install this cab for the old behavior (YT scrolling may still be choppy).
* Don't like the FuzeBerry look? Dirty commie.
--- Install this cab (updated 051809 - redownload if you got it before then) to get back the original WM6.5 icons in Titanium and the Start Menu.
--- Install this cab to get back the original Start Menu icons, but to keep Titanium in the FuzeBerry Theme.
--- And this to put TF3D back to the default look.
Warning: By doing any of this, you sacrifice super-awesomeness.
* Want an HTC Dialer back? Try the Tachi dialer. Caveats: It doesn't work in landscape, and the edit contact function won't do anything without TF3D2. But it does let you uninstall SetVolume and get HTC's Volume Rocker back (you can install HTC Volume w/o an HTC Dialer, but you won't be able to change in-call volume).
Older downloads/changelogs (see first post for most current changelog):
052709KB - With HTC Keyboard
052709NOKB - Without HTC Keyboard (makes installing third-party keyboard easier)
- Upgraded to 21725. Da_G says this is almost certainly 6.5.0.1
- New build brings a faster, slightly nicer IE. Also brings updates to all the widgets, and the return of the weather widget. They're faster and slicker than before.
- Minor tweaks and cleanup. Updates the "Rock and Republic LB" theme with a slightly different wallpaper (now matches the color of the welcomehead)
- Also adding today to Post No. 2: "Partial DeFuzeBerrify" cab, to keep the FuzeBerry look on Titanium, but to get original WM6.5 icons on the Start Menu. If you want more visual consistency on the Start Menu, but want to keep the grooviness of FuzeBerry elsewhere, this is good compromise.

051809KB - With HTC Keyboard UPLOADING - mirror by davitru
051809NOKB - Without HTC Keyboard (makes installing third-party keyboard easier) - mirror by davitru
- FINALLY organized the Start Menu.
- Speed tweaks
- Changed Connection Setup settings so it won't notify you automatically on first normal boot (was like this until a few builds ago). Make sure you run it manually if you're not prompted for setup during initial customization (you might be, depending on if/how you did your sdconfig.txt)
- Updated the Defuzeberrify cab from the post below (link is the same; file has been replaced) to include the folder icons for the organized start menu).
- Note (discovered after cooking): MP3 Trimmer is installed, but the lnk is missing from the Start Menu. It's in the Windows folder, and you can copy it into the Start Menu from there.
051609KB - With HTC Keyboard - mirror by davitru
051609NOKB - Without HTC Keyboard (makes installing third-party keyboard easier) - mirror by davitru
- Moved to 21232
- All MS Widgets now included
- Note: This is (probably) the last build where I'm leaving the Start Menu a big, flat mess. My weekend project is finally getting it organized.
051409KB - With HTC Keyboard - Mirror by davitru
051409NOKB - Without HTC Keyboard (makes installing third-party keyboard easier) - Mirror by davitru
- Moved to brand-spankin' new build, 21231
- Added "MyPhone"
- NetCF3.5 is now installed during initial customization, instead of cooked in, for better compatibility with 21231
- Minor additions/enhancements that come with the new kitchen
050609KB - With HTC Keyboard. Mirror by davitru.
050609NOKB - Without HTC Keyboard (makes installing third-party keyboard easier). Mirror by davitru.
- Fixed Initial Customization error in 050509KB version
- "Comm Mgr" in the Titanium Home screen now properly opens the Comm Manager, instead of the clock.
- The Biotouch.exe/Biotouch.dll files have been removed. See important notes in the next post on the impact of this.
050509KB - With HTC Keyboard
050509NOKB - Without HTC Keyboard (makes installing third-party keyboard easier)
- Moved to 21222, brand new build. With it comes improvements to IE, and possibly more responsive scrolling.
- No more freezes starting an SMS (hotfix was available in last version)
- PTT Button brings up new-style Comm Manager by default on Fuze
- New Welcomehead & Purple LB Wallpaper
050109KB -- with HTC Keyboard
050109NOKB -- NO HTC Keyboard (makes installing third-party keyboards easier)
- Moved to 21215, and a new kitchen. Should be snappier, and memory management should be better.
- I've disabled the automatic network setup on first boot. This prevents some people from having to go through it twice if something in their personal UC triggers it. Go to Start --> Settings --> Connections and select Connection Wizard to get set up.
- New Welcomehead, new versions of the wallpapers.
- Added in Adobe Reader
- HOTFIX: If you have freezes typing in names for an SMS, install THIS (only affects the KB build)
Older versions based on 21500 here.

Sounds good! Ill be watching for updates.
Hey smith great roms, especially the latest one here its simply amazing. I have a few quirks that I have found. For a while now the last few of you roms have a bug where it shows the old style comm manager when using the PTT button. But the link in Start menu>settings>connections>comm manager is the right kind. I use the comm manager a lot do disable and enable 3g to save battery and not being able to get to it quickly is very bad.
Also could you add weather to the WM6.5 home menu like the mystic series rom.
Otherwise great rom.

I agree if when using settings, personal, buttons, and select comm manager that it lets us select the full comm manager that gives all the options. This would be a nice feature. For the weather thing just use chome editor bro, thats what i do to add panels/pages/etc. Thats not a biggie at all.

That Comm Manager issue has long been on my "Bugs me, but not a whole lot, and I've got other stuff to do" list for a while. But tonight I took a crack at it and came up with a fix:
Go into \Windows\Start Menu with Total Commander, and rename "Comm MAnager.lnk" to "Communications.lnk" -- or whatever name you might prefer. Then go into the Buttons control panel and select your newly renamed link. From now on, the button will go to the new manager.
"Comm Manager" will still be an option on the list, and you can switch to that if for any reason you ever decide you want the old-style manager (not that I can imagine you would).
It'll be set up that way by default in the next build. Edit: This is fixed in the current build.
If anyone's curious, the problem is that the button was actually pointing to a "comm manager" link in the Appbuttons folder, not the one in the start menu, and so long as both had the same name, only one would show up in the buttons control panel.

For the weather, I'm shying away from tools and plugins that are still under very active development. They get upgraded too quickly for me to feel it's very useful to include them in a ROM (although I certainly have done a ton of ROM updates over a short time, that should slow down now that virtually all kinks are worked out). I recommend setting up an SDConfig.txt file on your SD card to have anything like that installed by User Customization on the initial boot (that's how I have both Fav People and Titanium Weather getting installed on my own Fuze).
Hi Lou
after 041709B i flashed your new rom. Since now its excelent rom. I try it and give feedback. Is there any way to customize TF3D (add or remove Tabs) and change softkeys in it?

Schaps advanced config 3.3 that should be cooked into the rom bro. Go to settings, more settings, then see tf3d towards the bottom for tabs and at the top youll see something for the softkeys.
Thank's bro i run Advanceconfig but i didn't know about more settings.
I believe those softkey settings in Adv. Config are for the stock Today screen (what you get if both Titanium and TF3D are turned off, and you're using traditional Today plugins), not for the softkeys that appear in TF3D. But you can change the TF3D ones with these registry settings:

Non, adv config soft keys settings also works for tf3d, just not for chome. Though there is a simple way with chome with reg editor, go to hklm, software, microsoft, chome, then at the bottom is the reg for the left soft key. Now in that chome folder is also every panel that is active on chome and u can click any of those and change those left and right soft keys if you like. Only problem is i have no idea how to link them.
For example, the left soft key url is :MSCONTACTS. Now i have Icontacts installed to the phone, how do i find the Icontact's url to repleace the above? Id be golden if i could figure out how to find programs urls and how to link them in reg editor.

I don't have icontact installed to check it, but looking at the cab, it should probably be:
\Program Files\iContact\iContact.exe
Just added this to the first post:
- HOTFIX: If you have freezes typing in names for an SMS, install THIS (only affects the KB build)
The issue was supposed to be resolved a few versions back, but I just discovered I goofed on the registry key. This solves a conflict that exists between WM6.5's own name-lookup and the HTC keyboard's name-lookup.
Problems with 5-1-09 rom
Hey there. It's the noob again.
I flashed your latests rom yesterday and have noticed the following issues.
Just want to make sure it's not something I'm doing wrong or if this is a "feature" of the rom.
1. When I want to close an app, I click on the X in the top right hand corner. On previous ROMS, that would close the app, but now it just minimizes it.
2. Have you found a way to link soft keys for CHOME yet? Advance Configuration manger changes the keys, but after you reboot, it reverts back to default (contacts).
3. When I click on the toolbar for a notification (Examples: sprite backup report, New email, etc) it takes me to the Notification screen, I tap the notification and: sprite asks to review the report, I tap yes and it just takes me back to the Home screen. On Emails, I tap the “New Mail” and nothing happens until I tap “close” or “Dismiss All”
Thanks - Markmi300

1. This is a configuration choice (all my ROMs have been this way). You can change it by going to Start -- > Settings --> System -- Task Manager (note: there are two different control panel items called Task manager, you want the one with the gray icon). Select "button" and you can change this to the behavior you're used to.
2. I haven't been looking for a way to change this (I like the default just fine for this), but check out the threads in Development and Hacking for CHome/Titanium editors. There might be a way to do this under there; not sure.
3. That's the Tachi/Topaz-style notification screen. It's not perfect, in particular when not paired with TF3D2. Aware of the flaws, I made it uninstallable. It's listed as "HTC Tachi Notification Enhancement" under "Remove Programs." If you uninstall it and so a soft-reset, you'll be back to the standard WM-style notifications. I've flipped-flopped in the past on dropping it entirely.
Just cabbed this up, and will add it to the first post:
If you want the HTC-style large-button notifications (like on the stock ROM), after you uninstall the Tachi notifications, install this.

Thanks Smith.
See - That's why I'm liking this Thread and your ROMS more everyday.
You actually HELP people. Where on other threads that I've posted, my questions usually just gather dust.
Thanks again.

I help where I can. But in all fairness to the other chefs (many of whom I owe thanks for their help with packages, questions, etc), their threads are a lot busier so it's a lot easier to get lost in the noise. .

[ROM][WWE][2010-NOV-25][SENSE 2.1/2.5/NO-SENSE] The Captain's Special (23149/21914)

* IMPORTANT *
THIS IS A GSM ROM. Do NOT use this ROM if you have a CDMA (Sprint, Verizon) Touch Pro!!!
To flash a custom ROM, you MUST first flash Hard-SPL by OliNex!!
If you don't know what's involved with flashing a ROM, PLEASE see mskip's guide for n00bs!!
A BIG special thanks to XDA member dschlaefer for donating his Fuze so I can continue cooking for the Raphael!!
____________
I know what you're thinking. Does this forum really need another ROM thread? I agree; I don't think it does either. But, here I am, opening one anyway.
So, here's the skinny:
These ROMs are based on builds 23554, 23541, 21898, and 21893, and are customized for the AT&T HTC Fuze and Touch Pro. One series includes Sense 2.5 VGA, and the other includes Sense 2.1 VGA. For those who want lower CPU usage, go with the Sense 2.1 version.
The 218XX version will generally be the most stable, so if that's what you're looking for, that's the one I'd go with .
I use the 4-row Start Menu (thanks to showaco), because I like it .
What's included in my ROMs (common to both versions):

Add-On CABs/Fixes/Change Log/To Do
Add-On CABs:
MP3 Trimmer - For creating ringtone files
PimBackup - For backing up Contacts, etc. NOTE: This may cause issues with Sense
SIPChange - For setting the Default keyboard on first boot
TFDetacher - For 'detaching' the Sense interface and allowing both Titanium (CHome) and Sense to be run simultaneously.
Total Commander - Enhanced file explorer with Registry viewer, etc.
Voice Recorder - HTC's application for recording voice notes.
WorldCard Mobile - Business Card Reader - take a picture of a business card and save the information directly to your Contacts.
HTC EzInput 1.5 - For those that don't like the EzInput 2.1 cooked into the ROM, this cab will install the stock Raphael EzInput with all of the EzInput options working.
Restore aGPS Control Panel Settings - This will restore the AGPS Settings applet to the 'System' Settings, for easily enabling/disabling of aGPS.
FInix Percentage Battery Icon (White) - For those that don't like the new top bar in the ROMs, they can uninstall it and install this CAB to get back my original percentage battery icons.
.NET Compact Framework 3.7 - For people having issues installing certain programs that throw a .NET Framework error message.
Fixes/Tweaks:
ATT Phone Canvas Fix - For 15-JAN-2010 23518 Sense 2.1 Fuze Build only - removes scrollbar from in-call screen.
Disable XT9 - For people that want to permanently disable XT9 (this may cause issues with the hardware keyboard). XT9 can also be toggled using the hardware keyboard (FN+SPACE on TP, FN+Right Arrow on Fuze)
Facebook Online Album Fix - For the Sense 2.5 ROMs, this fixes the picture preview for the Facebook Online Albums.
Set EzInput as Default IM - For pre 14-JAN-2010 builds, where new MS SIP was set as default. Will set HTC EzInput as default keyboard.
Disable Push Internet - For Sense 2.1 builds, this cab will completely disable Push Internet. This may help to reduce excessive battery drain.
Raphael 6.5 Bluetooth Driver - This 'fix' will allow Bluetooth AVRCP to work for players OTHER than Windows Media & HTC Music Player. However, it will prevent AVRCP from working with the HTC Music Player at all (AVRCP will still work with Windows Media Player).
Sense 2.5 ONLY - Remove Background for all Tabs Mod - This is for people that prefer the default Manila behavior of the custom background appearing on only the Home tab, with the other tabs displaying the default background.
If there are other stock ROM applications that you are interested in having add-on CABs for, please let me know, and I will consider adding them to this list
Change Log
April 1, 2010
Builds updated to 23554 from 23541 (COM5) and 21898 from 21893 (COM2)
My Phone updated to 1.6 version
Windows Live from 21898 build added to 23554 (10.7) - this can be upgraded on Marketplace to add Messenger
PagePool upped to 20MB (This seems to make Sense run more smoothly)
Titanium Weather/myLocation updated for Accuweather fix from Sleuth255
Opera 9.7 updated to build 35964 (thanks to indagroove @ MobileUnderground)
amarullz PeopleMessageClassic mod removed in favor of Manila Messaging built into Sense (thanks to TMartin03 for the package)
AMeBa updated to 0.8RC (with lower CPU usage) - see thread for details/additional features
Advanced Network package updated from HD Mini to match 6.5.x theme (swipe to change tabs)
Documents tab removed from Sense (memory hog, & not ported) - a CAB install for this is available
KNOWN ISSUES:
Windows Live gets stuck when trying to connect to sign in. Workaround: sign in to My Phone or Marketplace first. After a soft reset, your Windows Live ID details should already be entered into Live, and it should then sign in normally (it may take up to 30 seconds after pressing "Next" for the next screen to show up, so even if the device seems to freeze, don't panic - be patient)
Lockscreen shows Calendar icon even when there is no Active Appointment - This is a CPR change I haven't had time to make yet. See here for the fix.
Manila Locker/Background for All tabs not included - Both installable by CAB (I didn't include the Locker is because I've found it to be buggy, as it was not really designed for this version of Sense - though it does work without many graphical glitches).
Facebook tab not included (installable via CAB) - use THIS Tab Control file to correctly enable the tab
February 23, 2010

Album 3.2 updated to full ported Topaz S2 version by programatix

Full Screen view for Photos, Music, & Documents tabs disabled (until they are fully ported)

February 18, 2010
Sense 2.5 Builds updated to 23534 (6.5.5 COM5) & 21892 (6.5 COM2)
Mail tab menu fixed
3G toggle in Comm Manager fixed

February 12, 2010
Sense 2.5 version updated to 20121225
Packages updated from Topaz S2, Rhodium S2, & Leo 1.5
eReader, Documents, & Footprints tabs from Leo included (not ported to VGA . . . yet)
Footprints tab actually works!! ("Set as Footprints" item in Album now works correctly with GPS photos)
RunCC package updated - IMPORTANT: RunCC now runs in silent mode so that CABs requiring user intervention can now be included in UC (after screen alignment, you will just see the htc logo - this is normal). You may have to exit out of Google Maps at the end of customization (this is the last CAB of my customization), and will receive a warning when the device is about to reset.
Patched Album 3.2 by programatix included (picture preview now takes up entire screen)
Included ported VGA-addons for supporting packages from aamikam
HTC Flashlight from Leo included (under "Tools" folder)
Swype included from Leo (though I don't think it actually works)
Fake landscape mod for Photos & Videos tab included (thanks to TMartin & kimi_sae_ireba)
Comm Manager updated
TP ROMs will include default Sense 2.5 wallpaper
Google Maps updated to version 4.0 (with Buzz)
KNOWN BUGS:

Added Remote Desktop under "Accessories"
January 14, 2010
Added kimi_sae_ireba's new ported Calendar tab from newest Sense 2.1 version
Added back AT&T default ringtones (in case someone actually likes them) for a more "stock" feel
Updated Opera so that YouTube web links now play in HTC YouTube player
Added WiFi Internet Sharing (under Tools folder) and in Comm Manager (scroll down for toggle)
January 8, 2010
A2DP in HTC Music Player is (FINALLY) fixed
"Cap's Special" branding removed from background
Streaming Media is also working now (had to roll it back to an older version)
Flash works in Opera (I don't know if it did before, but I see it's working now)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What rilphone do you use in your ROMs?
A: I use the rilphone.dll from the 5.11.502.2 AT&T ROM (Radio 1.14.25.35). That is also the radio I recommend to use with this ROM for best results.
Q: How do I stop tab vibration in Manila?
A:
Captain_Throwback said:
you can disable it with this registry key:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings]
"ApVibrationOn"=dword:0 ;1=on, 0=off
Click to collapse
Q: I'm using your Sense 2.1 ROM. Why doesn't my Album have uploading options?
A: The Social Networking Album is only included with the Sense 2.5 ROM. That version of Album causes conflicts with the Facebook options in the Sense 2.1 version of Manila.
Q: Does Sense 2.1/2.5 have landscape support?
A: Sense 2.1 has landscape in all tabs. Sense 2.5 has landscape views in 3 tabs: Messages, Photo, & Music. These actually do not work when the keyboard is opened, as they do in Sense 2.1.
Q: Is there a Programs tab in these versions of Manila/Sense?
A: The Sense 2.5 does not have a Programs tab; instead, there are quicklinks underneath the Clock on the Home tab. Sense 2.1 does have a Programs tab, but it is hidden by default. To enable it, follow these instructions:
Captain_Throwback said:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"Manila://programs.page.hidden"=dword:0 ;1=hidden, 0=shown
Alternatively, you can install this: Show Programs Tab.cab which will do the exact same thing.

Q: What are the differences between Sense 2.1 & Sense 2.5?
A: See below post
Tab by Tab comparison of Sense 2.1 & Sense 2.5
The main difference, of course, between Sense 2.1 & Sense 2.5 is that 2.1 supports Landscape, while 2.5 does not (and yes, I am aware that rotatstrain has created a landscape for 2.5, but that is NOT as designed by HTC).
NOTE: Starting with the 2011 build, Sense 2.5 now supports Landscape!!
Home tab:
Sense 2.1 - Home tab includes World Clock w/Weather under time & Animated Weather wallpaper. Quick links to Call History & Calendar under time. Scrolling up will reveal several calendar entries.
Sense 2.5 - Home tab includes World Clock w/Weather under time & several choices of Animated wallpaper, including Weather. Quick link to Calendar under time, one Calendar entry shows. Scrolling up reveals 6 Quick Link shortcuts that can be customized to add a Program shortcut, Contact shortcut, or Bookmark.
People tab:
Sense 2.1 - People tab is the same as previous versions of Manila. Features 3D shortcut to Contact card for Favorites, selectable using bladelist along side of tab. Contact numbers are listed underneath selected Contact picture, and can be dialed with a single press.
Sense 2.5 - People tab features a grid view which shows 6 contact shortcuts at a time (scrolling up reveals additional shortcuts). Each shortcut uses Contact Picture for identification, and can be customized to View Contact Card, call a selected number, send a text or email (an icon in the bottom right of the picture will indicate the selected default action). The shortcut is actually 2 buttons - the picture acts as a direct shortcut to the default action as selected previously, and the bottom portion (which displays the contact name) opens the Contact card for that person. If there is an unread notification from that person, it will show up as a green icon on the bottom right of the button.
Messages tab:
Visually, this tab is identical in the two versions. However, when pressing the tab, in 2.1 it opens the Manila SMS interface, while in 2.5, it will open the Messaging Client interface (in the Manila SMS tab).
Mail tab:
This tab is also very similar in both versions. Both feature a bladelist on the right that shows the unread e-mail count of any Mail accounts. The main difference is the size of the e-mail preview. In Sense 2.1, the old preview, with a 3D envelope with mail emerging from it, is used. In Sense 2.5, there is a flat, full screen preview that allows more viewable area, and an easier to read preview.
Internet tab:
Sense 2.1 - Uses Opera 9.5, and includes shortcuts to add "Push Internet" links. These can be added from existing bookmarks, or can be input manually. The user can select a frequency for the pages to be downloaded, so that there is zero wait time when opening the shortcut.
Sense 2.5 - Uses Opera 9.7, and includes "Visual Bookmarks". These can be added from existing bookmarks, or can be input manually. A visual representation of the bookmarked page is shown on the shortcut.
Calendar tab:
Sense 2.1 - Shows Month view as default. A triangular block appears in the corner of a day where an appointment is scheduled. Pressing a day will open day view, listing all appointments for the day. The Calendar will also show the current weather for your Location, or another location specified in the world clock. Pressing on an appointment will open the appointment in the standard MS Calendar app.
Sense 2.5 - Shows Month view as default. A triangular block appears in the corner of a day where an appointment is scheduled. Pressing a day will open day view, listing all appointments for the day. The Calendar will also show the current weather for your Location, or another location specified in the world clock. There is also an option for "Agenda" view, which shows all of your current meetings/appointments for several days, and a "Year" view, whcih allows you to see the entire year right on the Manila page. There's also Week view which displays any appointments for the week, and shows all available time slots in each day. Pressing on a specific appointment in either Agenda or Day view will open an enhanced Appointment Editor which allows you to contact the meeting organizer or recipients, and review other meeting information. This feature also requires the HTC Messaging Client.
Stocks tab:
I don't personally use this tab, so I'm not entirely sure, but this appears to be just about identical in both versions.
Photos & Videos tab:
At first glance, the tabs look the same. There's a stack of pictures, and the user can flick up and down to go through them. Pressing one opens Album. The difference is that when rotating the device to Landscape. for Sense 2.1, you basically get the same interface. In 2.5, however, there's an animation, and you get a full-screen interface that allows you to scroll through the pictures. Pressing on a picture will animate it until it is fullscreen.
Music tab:
Sense 2.1 - Shows 3D Album art, "Shuffle" and "Repeat" indicators, scroll up & down buttons & play button on right side of interface. Rotating keeps these same elements, just moving their location.
Sense 2.5 - Shows Album art, Play/Pause button, forward, backward buttons underneath Album art. "Shuffle" & "Repeat" indicators at top right are pressable, and in top left there is the option to download Album art using Gracenote. When rotating the device, you get a fullscreen, enhanced interface that allows you to scroll through albums quickly. Pressing an album will bring up a list of all songs from that Album on the left side of the screen, and this list is scrollable. Pressing a song on this list will play the song, with a speaker next to the title indicating the selected song is playing.
Weather tab:
This tab is very close to identical in both versions. Both feature "My Location", which uses Google Location Service to pinpoint your location using cell-phone-tower triangulation. This information links back to the World Clock in showing the Weather at your current location. The only discernable difference between 2.1 & 2.5 that I saw is that 2.5 features fullscreen Weather animations on this tab based on current conditions (not just on the Home tab).
Other tabs:
Sense 2.5 also features 2 tabs that Sense 2.1 doesn't: Twitter, and Footprints. "HTC Peep", a.k.a. the Manila Twitter tab, shows all your current Tweets, and notifies you when you get any new ones. The Footprints tab allows you to take photos and save them with specific GPS information so that you can 'Show them on Map' (requires Google Maps), or navigate to them using GPS Software (the Leo comes with NaviPanel software & CoPilot GPS Navigator). This tab has limited functionality on our devices, since it is dependent on the Leo hardware.
Settings tab:
This tab is probably the biggest difference between the interfaces.
Sense 2.1 - Offers options to:
Sync data
Open Comm Manager
Change Wallpaper
set sounds & notifications
customize tab order
open Contact Card
toggle Location Service
Enable Auto-rotation.
Sense 2.5 - Using HTC's "Settings Improvement" package, this tab integrates directly into the system, bypassing almost all MS versions of Settings. There are options to:
"Personalize" (Set wallpaper, customize tabs)
Wireless Controls (Comm Manager)
Sound & Display (includes changing notifications, Backlight, & calibrating G-sensor)
Data Services (includes Activesync, Stocks, Weather update frequency, Internet Time sync, Social Networks, & E-mail)
Security (Encryption, Phone lock & reset)
Application (Manage Applications, i.e. Remove Programs)
SD card & Phone storage (shows Storage capacities/options in enhanced interface)
Date & Time (set date, time, time zone & format)
Locale & text (Set Language, region & text input options - shows enhanced interface for regional settings, & text input settings require EzInput 2.1)
Updates & feedback (feedback/error report)
Other (miscellaneous settings - this lists settings not linked to any of the previous ones)
About phone (view battery status & device info - enhanced interfaces).
In 2.1, pressing the "All Settings" (left softkey) will open the MS Settings; in 2.5, pressing "Menu" gives you the open the option to open "All Settings".

It's uploading now - but it's customized for the AT&T Fuze, so you'll need to adjust the registry for the Touch Pro keyboard (ProFuze will do the trick), or the many keyboard tweak CABs floating around here. Connection Setup should take care of the network settings .
wooohooo maaaaan u r the best .... keyboard aint an issue...aint a n00b anymore mate
i'll wait for the link...i'll try to take it easy on the F5 key lool
hi capt,
it feels wierd to say welcome to xda, but i will anyway. is this rom any different from the one posted on ed/tp? if not, this rom is amazing! the only bugs i found were the first boot error w/ progmatix interceptor and a few redrawing issuesllll
manila 2.1 sense is amazing, i've flashed the 21885 but i'll say what i think of it so far based on that i'm a TP user not fuze
- it'd be great if u post a cab for the latest amarullz Rhodium Phone Canvas or his latest qilin with video call working
- icons for the accesories, multimedia...etc folders
- settings icon in the start menu takes me to the manila settings page instead of windows settings which i dont like, coz if i click on settings in windows menu then i want the windows settings folder
...thats about if for now, i'll keep on testin & tell u wt else i find
i c my self sticking with ur rom if i can make another version "or with cabs" to fit TP as much as it fits FUZE
great work mate...thx
apps i think will be handy for most users

EDIT: sry abt that just read the More Information section
i cant find anything in album about social network or uploader...shouldnt it be included or did i miss understand !!!

Does the 2.1 Sense have Landscape support?
Pagepool Size...
Posted this question on the ED/TP thread as well, but I guess this one will probably become the more active of the two threads. Looks like the pagepool is set to 6 megs on each of the 3 builds. Seems a little on the low side these days, though I must admit that I have yet to really test out the performance. I thought the raph's sweet spot was around 16 to 20 megs. Just curious if the chef has intentionally set it to 6 megs for optimal performance?

I think for the next go-round I'll make a TP ROM as well, that doesn't include the AT&T Customizations, comes with the keyboard pre-mapped to the TP layout, uses Opera w/o the AT&T Proxy Settings, and includes amarullz's Rhodium Dialer w/Video Call.
As far as the Settings icon, the one in the Start Menu is actually a shortcut. You can delete it, and change this registry key to get the regular one back:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo]
"HideSettings"=dword:0

The Album in the Sense 2.5 ROM is the one that includes Social Networking Support. It's doesn't integrate so well with 2.1 (the Facebook Engine conflicts with the one for Manila)

I usually set my PagePool to 16MB. I've been rebuilding my kitchen & must've just forgot to change it. I'll do that for the next (set of) ROMs.

Battery drain *may* get better, but that may also depend on the radio you're using. I'm using the one that comes with the 5.11.502.2 AT&T ROM (Radio 1.14.25.35). Changing the radio might make a difference (but make sure you give it a few days to settle in).
I neglected to include the "Touch Options" applet in Settings that allows you to easily disable tab vibration (but I think it may also disable other vibration as well). Maybe I'll include it in the next one. In the meantime, you can disable it with this registry key:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings]
"ApVibrationOn"=dword:0 ;1=on, 0=off
EDIT: OR, install the cab posted above (thanks for the help, paulyluca)
I will (eventually) update the posts on the first page with this "important" information. It's my first ROM thread, so I'm still getting a feel for it .

[ROM - WWE] [10.07.10] ~QBUS22~ [WM 21909/23569 - Sense 2011] **Now with kitchen**

Hello
There are lots of ROMs for Topaz to choose from, but none of them suite my needs. That's why I decided to create my own...
The general idea was to create 6.5.3 based ROM with Topaz 2.53 packages (so with Manila 2.5.20113030.0 and Topaz dialer).
There is also COM2 (with Start menu at top) version available. It has the same tweaks as 6.5.3 version. Differences between them are described in changelog.
The ROM looks pretty close to stock one but is tweaked to be as fast as possible and I removed as many bugs as I could found (also those introduced by HTC).
Now with kitchen. To start cook your own ROM just unpack content, run osKitchen.exe and select one of projects from Projects\HTC Topaz folder.
If you like my ROMs and wanna donate here is a link to do so:
There are two versions available - with HTC Messaging (QBUS00H) and without HTC Messaging (QBUS00).
This ROM was created using OS Kitchen.
Changelog:
QBUS22:
COM2 upgraded to 21909
Removed any task manager from COM2 (you can choose the one you want from CAB - downloads at the end of this post). Be aware that installing HTC Task Manager on ROM with HTC Messaging causes a bug: phone starts to freeze when rotating to landscape in HTC Messaging
Added Bubble Breaker to COM5
Kitchen released - link at the end of post
QBUS21:
Removed non english Manila language files (saves space)
Fixed problem with MMTaskManager, Office, Notes and some other system apps (added them to exclusion list). The fix is temporary, I'm in contact with author of MMTaskManager and waiting for his response
QBUS20SE:
Trying to fix SOD bug
QBUS20:
HTC Input updated (to the one from Leo3)
HTC Messaging updated

QBUS12:
COM5 upgraded to 23563 upgraded again (fixed issue with datetime picker)
Disabled landscape mode on photo & music tabs as it was slow and buggy
Disabled weather wallpaper on Manila home screen - device is even faster now. If you want to enable it again on Home screen choose Menu -> Home Wallpaper -> Weather Wallpaper
QBUS11a:
Fixed ActiveSync issue
QBUS11:
COM5 downgraded to 23559 (latest version with finger friendly datepicker which is working properly)
Enabled landscape mode in Manila's pictures & music tabs
Google Maps upgraded to 4.1
This version has ActiveSync broken, it's not possible to sync anything. Please upgrade to QBUS11a
QBUS10:
COM5 updated to 23563
COM2 updated to 21901
Page Pool increased to 15MB (it appears that this is stock ROM default value)
23563 build has problems with custom datetimepicker (not possible to choose day in Windows Calendar for example). Workaround is to disable custom datetimepicker by removing following registry key: HKLM\System\GWE\Commctrl\CustomDateTimeCtrl
QBUS09:

Best all
Thanks
happy to see new cookers
welcome my friend to sturt between cookers ... !!!
This looks really well, only disadvantage is that it has HTC's messaging client 2.5 which is, based on my experience, unusable. Is it possible to remove this from your rom?

Hi, I'm also not fan of HTC Messaging.
The problem with removing it is that then we lose integration with Manila (no unreaded messages numbers at slidebar and SMS tab on Contact screen is not working).
Try This

Hi
If you look at Energy latest ROMs (NRG) he is using a HTC Messaging client that has less of these bugs and problems. Quite good.
Perhaps you can integrate that version of HTC Messaging into your ROM?
Cheers

Nice ROM qbus.
Very nice memory footprint.
I like the implementation of ShowCase
"No flipping clock"....I assume this means the clock doesn't insist on displaying the time -1hr and 4 minutes so it can flip back to the correct time?
"New TSK".....I don't know what this is.
Unfortunately this ROM shows me to be permanently roaming :-/

Hmm this is strange. Have you tried other ROMs based on 2.53 packages and/or on newest SYSes (like 23549)?
I haven't touched anything releated to operator settings so I believe this is a problem of HTC/MS rather then mine cooking?

I think I found the "problem". The "3G" switch is set to off by default. UK's 3 network doesn't support GPRS so enabling 3G appears to have fixed my problem
I would like to have the keyboard button at the bottom of the screen so that clicking it makes the keyboard disappear. It seems to be a common "fault" with 23xxx + ROMS that if you click the keyboard softbutton it just offers the various types of keyboard.
Oh....and automatically importing SIM contacts would be good

Yes, that's true. I've seen figure somewhere showing that it's less then 1% faster then original ones. However my subjective feeling is that when using Manila's slider it is a little smoother on NeoS drivers then on original ones.

For the keyboard issue - just move your finger a little more to the left edge of the keyboard icon .
Qbus, glad to see you around, cooking for Topaz.......you were the best cook for Samsung Omnia (i remember...) as i don't like 2.5 manila would you consider cooking manila 2.1 ROM(6.5.3 with 2.1 sense would be nice)?best regards

There are two options to do that:
- just use original base ROM with Manila 2.1 and cook that (easier but worst effect) - for that case I think that we have already super ROM - it's Aman's TESS (however it's based on COM2).
- mix Manila 2.1 with 2.53 packages (to get all finger friendly improvments from that) - this option is better but requires more work, time and testing (nhathoa tried to cook such version but it contained some bugs).

Yes - this is possible. My first idea was to cook 6.5.3 ROM but since someone asked for COM2 I'll cook a ROM based on this line soon .
A 6.5.3 rom with 2.53 drivers without manilla would be nice too if you got some spare time [no manilla but with comm manager, topaz dialer, keyboard, etc].

I don't have access to this build .
Updated first post - added COM2 version based on SYS 21887.
Enjoy!

[ROM][GSM][Omnia Pro B7610] Sumit Bhardwaj's WM 6.5.3 build 23145 JE2 Full+Extras ROM

Hi Guys,
Here is a full WM 6.5.3 JE2 23145 ROM that I have built for my personal use. I thought it might be of some interest for others too Its a plain, vanilla 6.5.3 ROM so I don't think screen shots are necessary.
Link : Download from Megaupload.com
Here is what is in the ROM :
- Windows Mobile 6.5, CE OS 5.2.23145 (Build 23145.5.3.10), with Start button at bottom.
- Full, unmodified JE2 ROM with Optimized CSC (1.86 MB only, will work with other ROMs too, though not all maybe), LZX Compression and 12 MB Pagepool for optimum performance.
- Phone Memory : Approx 144 MB, RAM: About 72 MB on start
- Samsung Widgets, Samsung Today, Dialer and Keyboard from JD1 ROM of Omnia II for 6.5.x position changes compatibility.
- Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool (Highly versatile tweaking utility)
- DotFred's Task Manage 3.3 for WM 6.5 (Highly useful and detailed task manager for power users)
- GPRS Counter application from JE2 ROM (Useful for keeping track of GPRS data usage for limited GPRS plan users. Can show stats in chart as well as report format)
- Midomi Application from Omnia II (Music information recognition software)
- MortScript 4.2 (A very popular scripting runtime for Windows Mobile)
- OpenNETSDF v2.3.0.21 (A framework that complements .NET CF, needed to run many modern .NET based apps).
- SQL Server CE 3.1 (Although SQL Server is always there on Windows mobile in background, this version supports a GUI tool, Query Analyzer, using which you can run SQL commands on your phone )
- XDA Shutdown v1.01 with Black Theme (Shutdown, Restart, Sleep or Hibernate your mobile with ease.)
- AutoClose Patch 1.1 (Enhances the way memory allocation/deallocation happens on Omnia, useful for keeping phone running for long time without restart)
- Bluetooth Toggle Application (One touch toggling of bluetooth)
- MADE Text Editor (A simple text editor that supports both ANSI and Unicode text formats)
- PPC PIM Backup (Great Personal Information (contacts, messages, calender, task etc) backup utility)
- Pocket RAR (Archiving utility supporting RAR and ZIP formats)
- Simple Regedit (A powerful registry editor, despite the word simple in its name )
- HTCSensorSDK.dll and LibGLES_CM.dll (Needed for accelerometer and OpenGLES v1 support in games and manilla kind of apps)
- Microsoft Voice Commands (from WM 6.5.3 build, the latest version available. Recognizes asian accents quiet well, including Indian english )
- Latest MyPhone application, No need to install afterwards.
- UTDrv TTF driver for fixing Bold Fonts issue with the new Font Engine of 231xx builds. For more information, search on XDA.
- Bubble Breaker game added from COM2. WM 6.5.3 no longer comes with it.
- Tweaks
----Orientation Settings Enabled
----Titanium Enabled by Default
----JBlend Font Size fix
----WinMO default Settings icon enabled
----Disabled lines between tradional today plugins
----Enabled Lockscreen Picker in Settings>Lockscreen
----Disabled Samsung Large Titlebar for enabling Windows default large icon title bar dropdown
----Enabled Samsung Launcher (that shows up automatically when keyboard is slided) by default)
----Other Misc performance tweaks.
Please note that as I said before this was for my personal use, so everything is according to my preferences. If you feel your preferences are same, use it else ignore it. Just a small disclaimer
Cheers!
Known Problems :
-------------------------------
1) Sometimes, when phone is not restarted for some time and used heavily, using the lock button to put phone to sleep may not lock it. When you wake it up, it will come unlocked. I am not aware of a fix right now, I always long press the lock key to first lock the device and then press the key again briefly to make it sleep.
2) 2 Ring delay when phone call comes is there. I will ask daskalos for the fix, if he helps me, I will post that here in form of a cab and make it permanent in all the future roms.
