[ROM][CDMA]Lightweight ROM 21863-based - Omnia II ROM Development

Here is the Lightweight ROM i made. No guarantees! It worked for me but as usual, your mileage may vary. This is based of the stock 21863 ROM not the new 6.5.3, so the dialer works like normal and this has the standard start menu at the top.
Important!! You will need to use the right softkey and change the TouchWiz to disabled after you flash this ROM! The start menu defaults to mainmenu.exe, but it has been removed, so if you want touchwiz, leave this setting alone and copy mainmenu.exe back to the Windows folder.
My ROMs Folder
Comments are welcome, enjoy!
I should not that this ROM is stripped down to just basic windows, Office, Adobe Reader and the fav Samsung apps, like calendar, clock, dialer and the settings menu. Optional to use any of them, i just found them better than the base windows variants. Opera, all windows Titanium / widgets have been removed, as well as Swype, Nuance Voice Control, and all the graphics for the now not-included Samsung home screen.
Another quick note! IF YOUR AUDIO DOES NOT WORK - I made 13 variants of this ROM before it was finalized, for 2 of those ROMs my audio did not work out of the box until i installed the SWS WOW 2.cab. If this happens to you, install this cab and your audio will be back. Again, it only happened with 2 previous builds, and did NOT happen to me on the final, but hey, anything can happen so this is your heads up.
Also, do NOT disable the built-in dialer if you want your send key mapped to the phone app. Disabling it in registry or SKTools will PERMANENTLY disable it even if you reenable the dialer!
----------------------------

Thanks Radio,
I will have to give this a try tomorrow after I get some shut eye

out of all of the roms available, I like yours the best. The memory stability of this rom is perfect for me. Although it does not have as much available ram as some of the other roms, it has been the smoothest running so far. I usually start out at around 82-83mb after a soft reset, and the lowest the ram goes down to during all day usage is about 75mb. That's with the samsung today interface. I would have preferred titanium but the fact that I can use my phone for days with out having to reset or pull the battery is great. After closing programs the memory returns to the amount before opening the program. I usually idle at around 79mb throughout the day.
So far I have had no major issues considering this is the first release of this rom. All problems I have encountered so far are due to cabs I have installed and not the rom itself. For some reason I can not get reStART to install, but I had the same issue with the other customs roms out there. So my file might be corrupt or something.
Thanks for you hardwork and I look forward to an updated version of this rom.

Help with Memory Issues...

Is their a way to see what applications are starting up and running in memory when you power on your phone, and also see what's running when you are using your phone and eating up your memory and stoping them from starting up? I"m having a problem with my memory getting eaten up and the, "Running Program List" is showing that nothing is running. As I use the phone the memory gets even lower even though nothing is showing up as running in Task Manager. I keep having running out of memory errors. When I turn off and on my phone I only have about 12MB of program memory free. If I use the phone for a little bit it gets down to 9MB or so even after I end any tasks that are running. It's becoming a real big issue. I would also like to keep ActiveSync for automatically starting up everytime I turn on the phone. Thanks for the help and time.
wow 12 on startup? Looks to me, you should first flash to a new ROM, take for example- dCd's 3.2.6 which gives roughly 25 MB on startup..
You can use MemMaid to help you see whats running on startup and you can also disable them through MemMaid. Another cool feature it has is the Registry Tweaks, Optimize it for Memory and you'll have a nice amount of RAM on startup as well
Also, Titan's been known to have memory leaks all the time, use programs like Oxios Hibernate to reclaim stale RAM, soft reset on a daily basis and you should be ok
He's already running DCD3.2.6 according to his signature.
I'd suggest posting everything you have installed along with what Today plug-ins you have running and maybe someone can help you out.
A hard reset should put you back to a blank slate if you're willing to go that far to solve your problem...

Are you running MS Voice Command by any chance?? That program is one of the worst memory hogs I have ever seen & also has a bad memory leak so the longer it's running the worse it gets.
~John
Quick Menu is an awesome, small, free program that that shows you in the start menu which programs are running. You can also set Quick Menu to "totally close" the program when click "X" or "ok". I love this program.
I already have 3.2.6. Is there any free programs that will free up the memory? I've spent so much money on software for my phone and it's getting really expensive. I couldn't figure out where memory tweaks where to optimize for memory... I stopped a few programs from starting up and that helped just a little bit. They were the voice software that came with the kitchen and something called TaskFacade.
I'm also have a big problem with the stylus. It won't stay in the hole anymore. The second I put it in it falls out. Am I going to have to replace my whole phone? Thanks..

hm, I had the same problem with the stylus and I slipped the extra one that came with it and it stayed in place. But if that doesn't work- then it really is the phone's molding that was messed up..what you can do is put a piece of electric tape around the stylus and hope that the tape would be big enough to hold it back in place.
As for the free program, its called Oxios Memory, here's the link..I use it so much, I assigned it to one of my buttons, generally it'll clear up any stale RAM and should if anything give you back several percent- here's the link:
http://www.oxios.com/memory/
As for MemMaid, just go to "Jump to" and you'll see Tweaks or something along those lines, btw Apota, check your PM
memory leak or plug in

SECOND TODAY
WIRESPEED-the only prgm used thru second today
RC mod- best free color modifier for wm6 I can find
a cooler fully customizable interface would be great but I have given up my search because I don't have pwr to run anything
tried memmaid and the results aren't that great for me....

What ROM are you running? Yes, the Titan does have a memory leak problem..as do most HTC products, the only reason we, Titan users, feel this leak so often is because we only have 64 MB of it and well..64 MB of RAM really isn't much.
What other software do you have installed on your Titan? And what do you have running at all times?
I have quite a number of programs installed...but after Oxios on startup, I have roughly 23 MB of RAM- only because I've installed some nifty programs that I really like
thanks for the quick response noobiville is a dark and cold place
ROM?
as in stock rom with mr1 update?
a simple leak explains a lot though my phone is loadeed with apps
currently i'm usin:
CLAUNCH-I have a lot of shrtcuts on my today
WIRESPEED is installed on my SECOND TODAY SCREEN I only have word mobile shortcuts on this screen
BATTI, GOOGLE TODAY SEARCH BAR, HTC (audio manager, audio boost, equalizer)
I have other prgrams but they shoudnt be part off my "activate on power up" list and are only plug-ins and shortcuts for my CLAUNCH ( I have maybe 40)
too many short-cuts and plug-ins....possible culprit?
WISH LIST:
MANILLA 2d. do I have the memory to run it?
all white theme, tsk and dailer...no lines no bars jus words and icons

Well, consider flashing to dCd's 3.2.6 ROM, it has roughly 25 MB of RAM on startup, its a stripped down version of WM 6.1, if you don't like it, well you can flash back to the one you have. Of course, the only major hassle doing that is losing all the data on your phone.
Having too many programs installed is a problem as well, consider removing some programs if you don't really use it often. Like Google Search bar? Why not just turn hit the Internet explorer button, save Google as a favorite and search that way? Its roughly the same. I never used 2 Today screens, as I mainly use my phone for professional or personal use..so I never found a use for something like that, so I don't know if that's a memory hog, but does sound like one..someone should clarify this.
As for M2D with a white theme etc, it replaces your entire today screen, whether the 2nd Today screen will work, I don't know. But in general, expect M2D to take about 8-10% more of your RAM. I've used it before and for what it does, its..between worth it and not worth the 10%. It does contain a very finger friendly use, but keep in mind, it still doesn't go landscape (at least not with MBarvian's mod) and similar apps can do what it does, only it doesn't look as nice.
Try to keep your programs to a minimum- I have 13 apps on my phone, but most are for cleaning RAM or closing programs down. On startup, I am on 52% (I installed a custom dialer, boosting the RAM usage to 2MB higher, w/o it I have roughly 49%). Here's what I have:
AOL Instant Messenger (TM) 2.0
Dinarsoft MemMaid
MBarvian OpalPhone Canvas- the dialer I spoke about- its great!
Microsoft Live Search
Oxios Memory
Spb Diary
Spb Pocket Plus
Spb Weather (since it can be integrated into the Diary)
Sprint Picture Mail
Sprint TV
nueUSB to PC- allows the phone to be read as a flash drive instead of going through ActiveSync (pretty useful)
Xda-Team Task Manager
Yahoo! Go
I still have 139.49 MB free on the device and after a day's use, I have roughly 13 MB of RAM. Remember to also soft-reset everyday to reclaim the RAM you lost
memory issues
thanx for the info its puts things in perspectiv
the SECOND TODAY/WIRESPEED combo is so that I may access my current projcts in mobile word files immediately (i'm a music producer and I must get ideas down immediately)
my google bar is what I use most it makes my 40 google searches a day so much more convenient
I think my memory leak is linked to my IE...my memory doesn't start dissapearing till I have activated it
-IEcache too large?
-optimun size for cache?
I plan on using either opera or even skyfire if my RAM permits
I will try the dialer and I need nuestorage as well..so thanx
on to cookin...I have no idea what the process is like. I have insurance and I also have 2 xv6800 not in use that I can expirement on. I don't mind the reset if I come out with btter phone
I AM DUE FOR A HARD RESET JUST WAITIN TO SEE IF I'LL BE COOKIN OR NOT
read somewhere I should revert back to stock ROM b4 cooking....true?
and i've given up on animated interfaces as efficiency is most important to me...not it being cool lookin
thanx for illuminating noobiville for me..I been wandering in the dark too long

Did you cook dcd rom without dialer then ran File name: MBarvianOpalPhoneCanvas.cab File size: 4.24 MB?
cooking
my knowledge of cooking is not to a point where i'm ready to go for it jus yet.
I am willing to expirement with my back-up unit tho
any screenshots of the dailer I just finding the cab
can I install the dailer on my already fully functionin device o should there be no dailr in my phone when I install
THANX FOR OXIOS HIBERNATE
since I have been watchin my IE I realize my prob is prolly there
I shall continue my research on cooking
Here are screenshots. http://mbarvian.freehostia.com/2008...de-applications-cab-and-oem-package-included/
I installed on top of original titan dialer and it seems to work. It looks nice. I did not get much free ram. I will probably go back to original because I want the DIAL button on screen.

Hey, I couldn't help but notice that your looking for manilla2d. I personally love it and have the titan. And yes memory can be a problem with the titan, so having m2d cooked in has been awesome. I dont' know if you have seen it but scrosler (sp) has made a ROM with dcd 3.2.6 (best kitchen imho) and added touchflo m2d to the mix. Its on this forum right below ur thread.
It is very cool in that you get to choose the majority of the apps that go with it, as he cooks them into the ROM as cabs you run, and its ready for ANY carrier. His fourth ROM os it is running nice on my titan and looks so sweet plus oxio hibernate is already cooked in to the rom too. I use IE to go to facebook all the time, and when i'm done i close it, have oxio set to a hardware button, run it and i'm back to at least 18mb again (with m2d running!!)

wow that's pretty sweet!
@ Flagmax: I didn't cook it into the ROM mainly because I don't really have time lately to be cookin in the kitchen, haha. Instead I just ran the CAB file and installed it.
@ heatd1: Hm..it could be a possibility that its IE that's killing your RAM. Whether its the cache size or so..I'm not quite sure..it could be a reason. A good thing to do though is, close your IE (not "minimizing" it)when you're done with it. Try using MemMaid and "Optimizing it" to see if it makes a difference on your RAM upon startup. There is a free trial before you need to purchase it- PM ME and let me know if need help with this.
As for cooking, if you're afraid of messing up the device because of a cookin' gone wrong and you want to claim insurance, you MUST flash back to the stock ROMs offered by your carrier. There have been stories of insurance companies not willing to give another device because of custom ROMs. So before you send your phone back, make sure its in a stock ROM.
The dialer on the other hand, is simply visually appealing to me. It technically has no functionality that is "needed". The slide to answer or slide to ignore is pretty neat and I like how it gives a little vibrate when it connects. On top of that, I like how it gives an option to send the caller a text message saying "I'm busy at the moment, please call me again later" (or something along those lines). I used to have Spb Phone Suite to do something like that, but now that I have this dialer, I removed it.
thanx
i'm not too worried about that too much...u can fry a phne without a kitchen trust me.. I have done it more than once.
my concerns are making sure my device is functional 24/7 I can't afford for, say, txt msging or my oulook not to work for more than 6-7 hours because I have had an incident it will cost me the lil money I make in the last days of Bush-a-nomics
have a backup phone so if gets ugly I will switch. or can use it for trial runs
my other concern is speed and functionability
don't need pretty interfaces I really just want all white screens nor nav bars no today lines no words...just icons for my today phone andevery other screen (theme gen won't do this or my favorite app RC MOD won't either)
claunch gives me the option of jus puttin icons directly onn my today
MEMMAID I have used this program often
what is the difference between the optimization for "memory" and "speed" if my phone gets slo because it doesn't have enough RAM memory
there so much inf on cooking what are the "must read before proceeding"s
I have read more threads than I wanna admit but I really need the step by step of it
from what I gather following the instructions to the letter is everything
obviously I can get long winded..sorry
i'm so anxious to leave noobiville
and you've been such a big help
did I say thanx for OXIOS?
Haha, well you're very welcome for Oxios. Giving a helping hand to a fellow xda fan is always great.
I've found from my experiences that optimizing for Memory over Speed actually starts the phone off with more RAM. You should try both and see which one works best for you.
You don't necessarily need to customize a ROM. If you find a ROM that fits your needs, than by all means just use it w/o the customizations. Its always best to just do that first before you start cooking up a custom ROM.
As to not having the bars, there's an application called nueNoBar, which will effectively remove the bottom bar of your Today screen but keeping the functionality of the softkey assignments. This app along with several other apps (that you might find handy) can be found here:
http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/page/Pocket-PC.aspx
As for having an "icon" on your today screen, consider the program: Spb Pocket Plus. It has the ability to simply "right click" on a file and "Send it to the Today Screen", effectively leaving a shortcut on the Today screen under one of its tabs. Along with that, it has the ability to let u scroll around IE like the iPhone does with finger flicking (this also applies to other places like File Explorer etc..) and also lets you open up multiple tabs in Internet Explorer. Aside from those functions, it also has a "Safe Mode" in case you ever screw up your phone and need to uninstall something when your phone crashes. All this- PLUS it adds a button mapper functionality to your phone, allowing you to map specific apps to the hardware of the phone. This program isn't free, but its a suggestion that you might find helpful. Here's the link:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus/screenshots.html?en
Once again, you're very welcome for anything, and if anything..you can simply continue posting here. I check xda pretty often (as you may have noticed)
thanx

[9/4/2012] Titan Reloaded M2D 1.3.4 with Kitchen (continuing Round 4 Reloaded devel)

Scott (scrosler) gave me permission to branch off development of his M2D Round 4 Reloaded ROM, since he'd officially abandoned his Titan development. He's having too much fun with his new Touch Pro ROM cooking.
STABLE BRANCH 1.3.4 [02/20/2009]
These first releases of what I'm calling Titan Reloaded is pretty similar to his loaded ROM and just includes some minor updates and tweaks, which are detailed on the download page here:
http://www.pdamag.com/roms/
Instructions and caveats here:
http://www.pdamag.com/rom-install-instructions/
Titan Reloaded 1.3.4 is out and contains tons of changes, check them out!
Thanks to xda-developers and members scrosler, dcd1182, and no2chem.
I'm starting this thread to support the users of this branch. Thank you for trying it.
FAQ
Q: When I switch to lanscape mode, or open the keyboard, why doesn't M2D switch to landscape?
A: Lanscape mode isn't supported in M2D, and I can't add it, since I didn't write it and don't have the source.
Q: Why doesn't the flash on the camera work?
A: The version 5 camera is installed by default as it seems to take better pictures, and it doesn't support flash. If you want the flash back, download the kitchen instead of the standard ROM and customize your ROM before flashing it with the version 4 camera. I challenge you to show me a picture that came out better with the puny "flash" on this camera, though.
Q: Why doesn't the "ok" hardware button open the start menu?
A: I haven't figured that out myself. It seems that M2D takes control of that hardware button and I can't fix it. Try using the start menu hardware button instead.
Q: I'm having a problem with the stable branch, how do I get help?
A: There are no known issues. First try doing a hard reset after flashing (hold both softkeys, the hardware buttons with dots on them in while pressing in the reset button with your stylus. Then press the hardware R and space keys when prompted.) Then try to reproduce your problem without installing any custom software in the kitchen or after flashing. If you can reproduce it, please provide the steps to reproduce in the forum and ask for assistance.

BETA BRANCH 1.4b2 [02/20/2009]
Also check out the 1.4 beta 2 which upgrades 2DManila (including footprints), HTC Album, and HTC Audio Manager from a new HTC release. Also included the previously missing Audio Booster. Upgraded Youtube with working finger scroll. Now using default theme, which can still be changed from M2DC. Also installed the Volume Control. The carrier cabs have been upgraded and are now installed under My Documents by default. No more app bundle installed. I haven't tested those apps with the new Manila. I also upgraded the sys files to new OS version.
Because it may not be obvious, to non-software developers. The beta ROM probably has bugs. I need feedback to fix them. Please don't run it if you don't find it fun beta testing. If you want stable, please go with 1.3.4 for now.
http://www.pdamag.com/downloads/TitanReloaded_1.4b2.rar
There are a lot of known issues with the beta at this time:
1. In call volume adjustment doesn't work (some report this works though?)
2. Custom cities in weather tab may not work?
3. If your phone gets stuck on vibrate, go into Start->Settings->Phone-> and Change to Ring.
Update 09/04/2012 - Kitchen is available for beta.
Thanks!
cant wait for the kitchen since i need SIP change and Data backup in my phone at all times. thanks for keeping this going for us xv6800 users
bitserve: thanks for keeping the Titan ROMs alive.
bitserve, thanks for your work. it's good to see what started (which is freaking awesome, by the way!!), will continue. happy holidays to you all.
What are the two issues and quickfixes?
From bitserve's site:
TitanReloaded 1.0 Known Issues [12/16/2008]
* Location tab search doesn’t open GoogleMaps. A quick fix is to copy \Program Files\GoogleMaps\GoogleMaps.exe to \Windows
* Internet tab doesn’t open Internet Explorer. A quick fix is to set [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila2D\InternetWidget]

Looks good. I'm looking forward to flashing this when I get home.
I just flashed it on my Mogul(useless Qwest phone) and I liked it, so I flashed it on my XV6800 and it's awesome. Keep up the good work.
Flashed it and it's working wonderfully.
Hey Bitserve,
When i get some time, i'll flash your rom

Wish I had a Titan so I could te.... On second thought. I will just say Good Job and thanks for keeping the Titan scene going!
Im not giving up my TP for anything ;c)
I just started looking again at the different ROM's out there since I had a few days to try and update things again on my phone.
I flashed this yesterday and have noticed a few things. I will list some of them.
The interface is very nice. The app shortcuts are easily added to the application page. Colors are customizable and are easily seen.
My phone seems to react very slowly to the bluetooth and the music app would not even open. Not sure why? There needs to be a regedit app installed. The quick access menu that I've been used to is gone, would be nice to see the Contacts and some of the others that are in the "start" menu that are used frequently still show up there. The used applications are cleared when the phone is shut off and restarted, so when you try to get to a previously used app, you need to go back through the menu selections to find it again. A GPS app would be nice as well. I couldn't get the Google Maps to find any satellites though. I know the phone with Verizon can be a little finicky for GPS at times. Although I did have it working a while back with a different install and was great.
The camera and photo viewer are SWEET. They work very well. I may have to try a different build and see how that works for the time being, but will be back when there are a few other mod's to this one. It looks very promising.
Also, my kids grabbed my phone and were disappointed that there weren't any games other than the default MS ones.
A couple more things I noticed, are that the battery indicator did have colors to it (very nice), although the number of bars didn't change and I ran it to nothing thinking I was also getting incredible battery life. Theclock seemed to lock up and not update.
I recently changed from a Hermes to the 6800 and have been looking for the perfect ROM (for me). I have to tell you I found it. This is the first ROM I have tried that everything works and is set up for my needs. Thank you & looking forward to your next update.
This is sweet..I have some questions
How do I get the OK button (side) working on the home page? Basically to open the start menu like in the OEM roms?
Also I have the callhistory.exe file how to I get the Voice button to open it?
Another thing is how to I make the scroll bar on the side wider?

How do I get the OK button (side) working on the home page? Basically to open the start menu like in the OEM roms?
Also I have the callhistory.exe file how to I get the Voice button to open it?
Another thing is how to I make the scroll bar on the side wider?

OK to add to this, I installed the ROM pack and now mthe phone works funny.
The dialer display cuts off some numbers and the right hand scroll bar in the folders acts funny. also the Screen align does not work.
(I installed everything in the rom pack) Maybe I should of done one at a time.
What you guys think?

Do you mean that your bluetooth was slower than with the stock ROM? The Audio Manager works fine for me from both the tab and from start->programs. What changes have you made, or third party apps have you installed?
There needs to be a regedit app installed.

Well, I'm not sure it needs to be in the ROM. However, as I get further away from scott's original ROM, I'll be installing some freeware apps that I use regularly that I consider must haves. One will have a registry editor.

I doubt that I'll ever add quick menu to this ROM, but I'll start offering a kitchen soon. I actually like the startclean app. I don't turn my phone off very often. When I do, it's because I want to clear everything.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=251164
You can remove start clean from Windows\Start Up. You'll also be able to disable this in the kitchen.
A GPS app would be nice as well. I couldn't get the Google Maps to find any satellites though.

GoogleMaps is installed. I don't know of any other free ones that work better. Although maybe I'm unclear on what you mean GPS app? Make sure that you have GPS on under services under phone-> options. I usually am able to get a sattelite fine. What radio are you using?
Also, my kids grabbed my phone and were disappointed that there weren't any games other than the default MS ones.

Is there a must have game other than solitaire?
A couple more things I noticed, are that the battery indicator did have colors to it (very nice), although the number of bars didn't change and I ran it to nothing thinking I was also getting incredible battery life. Theclock seemed to lock up and not update.

I tested this by letting my battery running all the way down, before I released the ROM. I didn't have any problems. Also no problems with the clock. What changes have you made, or third party apps have you installed?

I just had to test and was surprised to find that worked from the today screen. My phone has a start button, which I always used for this. It looks like TouchFlo takes control of the OK button. Sorry. I'd recommend using the start button on your phone, if you have one. I'll fix it if I can.
Also I have the callhistory.exe file how to I get the Voice button to open it?

This worked on the stock ROM? From the today screen, this seems to open the voice memo recorder for me. You might try a hardware button configuration program.

I believe that scott made the scroll bar narrower, because this ROM was mostly supposed to be navigatable by finger. I would recommend using the scroll wheel or the dpad when possible. I actually prefer to have more screen than more scroll bar. However, here are the registry tweaks:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE]
"cyHScr"=dword:13
"cxVScr"=dword:13
"cyVScr"=dword:13
"cxHScr"=dword:13
You'll be able to disable the narrow scroll bar in the kitchen. You can also install a 12 pixel scroll bar from the included ROM pack, under Apps.

Well, in my version, the Task Manager is already installed in the ROM. I wouldn't recommend installing the cab for it. Truthfully, the only other cab that I've tested is the Opal Style Comm Manager, which works fine. I don't care for the other apps.
You should definitely install them one at a time. I'm not sure how to even install multiple cabs at one time. You likely only want to install one carrier cab, also. My screen align works fine.
Great work. Looking forward eagerly to the next release, and the kitchen.
I have a problem. When I set up my gmail on my phone it won't receive messages. It always worked on DCD and I don't understand why it would just up and quit working. I haven't tried any other emails though because they changed the system at work from groupwise to exchange and I don't know the new servers since I am on break til the 5th. Has anyone been able to set up email on their phones? I feel so disconnected.
When is the next update going to be released? It is after the holidays.
Happy New Year!
I'm getting the same issue as Elizle. Pocket Outlook is having trouble connecting with the incoming mail server. Connecting to Gmail IMAP using FlexMail seems to work, but I'm not accustomed to its interface. I miss the integration with M2D.

I use mail all the time. I check both my home e-mail and my work e-mail with this ROM. I haven't had any problems. Using IMAP for both though. Haven't tested POP3.

This weekend. Likely Sunday night. I just finished a web development project and have this weekend to work on whatever I want, and I've been wanting to work on this. Thanks for your patience.

It's weird that you're both having problems with gmail. I guess I'll have to get a gmail account and see if I can figure out the problem. If anything, I would expect this ROM to work better, as I included "Windows Mobile 6.1 Hotfix for Sending POP and IMAP E-mail (KB958639)". I'll let you know what I find. Thanks for the feedback.

04/13/2009 nerdstrap's rom build 21042.1.6.0

New ROM chef here... It's taken me a few weeks to get the hang of it, but I finally have a rom that builds, flashes and runs stable!
My Goals: to keep the Titan up to date with a clean, stable and fast rom
Details:
XIP 21041
SYS 21042 - built from Topaz Core and Iolite QVGA SYS.
Drivers/OEM - built from Sprint and DCD 3.2.6
Changes from 4/13/2009 build (21042)
1. Voice Command restored
2. updated htmlnote.dll - unread sms issue resolved
3. updated keyboard driver so that the special characters work on the Owners Info phone textbox
Issues:
1. The WMP video playback issue still exists... I haven't uncovered the reason yet???
Features:
1. Clean - no added OEMs beyond core
2. Fast - 21042 is blazing
3. Free Memory - I installed Oxios and I regularly have 26,000+ free after boot
4. IE6
Built using Bepe's kitchen and based off of DCD's 3.2.6 base - I haven't recreated all of 3.2.6, but it's getting there
TODO:
1. clean up Windows directory
2. upgrade control panels
3. tweak more of the registry
4. create kitchen
Downloads:
1. ROM via Rapidshare
2. DCD carrier cabs
As always, flash at your own risk! Let me know what you think
I have no idea why there hasn't been any replies on this, but I loaded this ROM and it seems to run fine. I'll post more info if I find anything wrong/nice/etc. about it.
21040 build gave me some issues with my UC. I'll give this one a try tommorow, is almost bedtime here now. but 26 at boot sounds good to me since i use m2d.
Can anyone provide a non-RapidShare mirror to the ROM? It keeps saying I'm already downloading a file even though I am not. RapidShare doesn't play well with my ISP.
I don't know if it was the new ROM or not, but my phone surprised me this morning!!!
Normally, when a call comes in, my PRIUS plays a generic ringtone while my phone plays a custom ringtone.
This morning, the custom ringtone came through my car speakers!!! It didn't play on my phone at all?
Is this a feature of the newer bluetooth stack in the OS? If so, I am loving it!
I am running the ROM right now and it has a lot of free memory. I have had no problems thus far.

I think when I was running Reloaded 1.3.4 the phone would wake up when I got a call but the only sound came through my Bluetooth headset. Maybe a headset works differently from the car though.
Just flashed it.
Only problem I've found so far is that, just like DCD 3.3.4, Windows Media Player will not play any videos.
I also noticed that IE isn't quite as smooth as it is in Skip's ROM.
Edit: Played with it a little more and it also seems to have the unread text messages issue that has been plaguing a lot of recent ROMs I've tried (Skip's also has it).
Does you ROM use "User Customization". It's so simple and powerful or is there something new and better? Creation of a bare install and let user add whatever they want.
What is UC? It is a feature contained in UC capable ROMs. A UC capable ROM extends initial customization to your SD card so you can load cabs and install XML files that are located there too. What this means is that once you get your customization scripts right, you can flash any UC capable ROM and all your apps and settings will be restored as part of the initial customization process whenever your SD card is inserted in the slot.

26+ after reboot is cool but what about running it normally. I constantly can't get anything over 10 during the day adn thats on a good day. After a long day of using it I am tired of resetting my device every like 3 minutes.
I had four freezes randomly throughout the day yesterday resulting in having to soft reset. Loved the free memory, but need some stability.
I haven't had it freeze up on me at all??? What programs are you using?
User Customization is installed.
I am going to fix the threaded sms unread problem and video playback today!
Has anyone ever had incoming text messages show up from "Sprint Operator"? It just started yesterday and it's weird... Its from a known person in my contacts too, but the number shows as 0???

Nothing crazy. I am using:
HHC with the 6 tab plugin
Enlarged start menu
S2U2 1.50
1-Calc Lite
Ariel Battery
Finger Menu 1.10
nueLight
Oxios Memory
PdG touchflo 2 dialer
Total commander
TouchBack v 1_0
Google maps
The same stuff I run on every rom. Anything else that I use (media player, IE) were on the rom.
It tends to freeze up right after being removed from my cradle by my desk.
I run Nerdstrap's stock rom with Aerial battery and do not experience any freezing. Actually, this is probably the most stable and fastest rom I can remember running.
Thanks!

the text messaging system in the more recent 6.1 builds is KILLING ME!! it's not just unread either, sometimes it won't save them (so if you soft reset, you lose stuff) or the the way it handles messages that couldn't be sent. (
But this sounds like a cool rom, and if I get some free time, I'll try it out. Though I'm probably gonna get a vogue soon. :/
--delete. wrong tab :x--
Is this WM6.5?
new build to be uploaded around 4pm...
fixed the unread sms
fixed the video playback
Cycomachead - sms can be lost during a soft reset if the registry has not been flushed. I use nuePowerCPL to commit the registry before I perform a soft-reset for this reason alone.
JukEboXAuDiO - 6.5 builds are number with 211###, this is still a 6.1 rom 210###
uploaded new version
1. fixed threaded sms unread issue
2. updated keyboard driver
3. didnt fix video playback in wmp
meh, screw wmplayback, just install TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.CAB

Some issues with DCD's 4.1.2

Hi all,
I just unlocked and installed a customized rom for the first time.
I decided to go with DCD's 4.1.2 rom.
It's working great, I love its minimalism, for the first time my phone is running extremely smooth and fast.
I am having a few minor issues though:
1) Whenever I receive some text messages and then close them, its not marking them as read correctly so the home screen still says there are some unread text messages even if i already read them. I am using threaded txt messages.
2) Im not sure where the "active windows" thing went, so now i can't figure out how to close running applications other than going to the task manager and killing them all from there. Is there an app that i could install for that or something?
3) The keyboard seems to be randomly repeating characters sometimes, for example I type "b" and its writing "bbb" and some keys are not responding, for example i press "y" and it doesnt do anything and i have to go back and retype it.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
1. I believe is a MS bug try searching the forums I think there maybe a workaround.
2. Task manage in the programs menu.
3. I just loaded DCD 4.1.2 tonight and the keyboard appears to work ok?
I am flashing to a one of Ryan's ROMs to see if 6.5 works for me.
Most of your issues are discussed in the original 4.1.2 thread.
The task manager is the only way to kill programs without installing another program to do it.
I use "quickmenu" for closing apps, as well as hibernation an ram clearing. For your sms problems, search out "losers sms fix" clears it right up. As for the keyboard input, thats an oddity. I've been using dcd's stuff for some time. Possibly try reflashing or a hard reset.. Get yourself a PIMbackup prog to assist in transferring your contacts an such
i also had keyboard repeat problems with 4.1.2
it was also my first rom
i moved on to ryanmogul lite rom and its really great
more free memory than dcd's, the taskbar button is back, runs smoother overall imo
less work modifying the registry as ryan has already included many of the common hacks as well

Problems with after freesh installation of VillainROM 6.1

Hey,
I've installed (several times actually) VillainROM 6.1 today with full wipes of everything before hands and all. Great job and thank you for putting so much effort in it! I do have few small issues however. And would appreaciate if somebody would knew and shared a workaround or fix. ^__^
1. The ROM is quite sluggish. It's not slow per se but it's not snappy either. I suppose it's due to the problem of it being a memory hog. I mean I use Task Control to kill all the unnecessary apps during regulas usage and use to use a widget for it as well. In stock 1.5 (don't get me wrong, I do not wanna go back by no means) when using many apps my memory went down to about 55-65MBs and on a regular usage it stayed around 80-90MBs of free memory. In VR6.1 when I use it heavily memory goes down to 10-30MB and on a regular usage it floats in the vicinity of 40-50MBs tops. When I kill all the apps however I get anything between 80 and 90MBs of free memory. For about two minutes, cause even if I don't do anything it the device restarts all the services and is back at 40-50 in no time. Is there a way to deal with that or shall I just learn to live with it?
2. There's many apps that I don't and won't use and would like to remove those but when I do so through adb shell I start getting Force quites on GoogleApps and can't use Market at all. I wanna get rid of Adobe Reader, Footprints, Friend Stream, Java, News and Weather, PDF Viewer, Quick Office, Stocks, Voice Dialer, Voice Search and Weather, so if anyone knows which ones are safe to remove without compromising systems stability, I'd appreciate all the help.
3. I've also followed your guide of partitioning SD card for apps2SD that was supposed to work out-of-the-box when partitions are done right. At the moment they don't work at all as my space have rapidyly gone dow in a moile when I wasa installing them. How can I make sure that they work. I don't mean checkSD here I'm after a list of adb sjell commands to have it working or any other way really?
4. And last but not least... I'm not even sure if it's a problem I'm experiencing or is it something that is not supported but I've downloaded Overclock widget and it's not working as if it was not supported by kernel. I've used it on other ROM and it was fine so I don't know if it requires any tweaks or is it just not usablle in VR6.1?
I did not write all that to point out problems with the ROM or to say that I hate it - I like it and that's why I'm not switching to another one but seeking help in improving my experience with VR6.1. ^__^ Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

they have these known issues reported and have fixes to most. Plus 6.2.0 is out so worth upgrading to that!
