[HELP] How to clear people notifications? - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I get the notification symbol on my taskbar. I pull down to see the notification. The notification is for multiple people with facebook updates. i click it and it takes me to the people app, updates tab. Problem is this list never changes so it's not really showing me the people that have updates as listed initially in the notification. Any way to clear the list in the people section so the newest updates will be shown? thanks for the help!

Eh... I'm assuming there is pretty much no fix for this? Does this happen on the Hero too?

I know this is a slightly older thread, but I really would like to know if anyone has a way of stopping the facebook update notifications.

SMS recieved time

Is anyone else getting really annoyed by the fact that you can't tell what time you received a text on the previous day? Whatever way you try to look at it, it just says "Yesterday"!!
The date IS in the database.
Am I missing something really simple here?
Yes it's very annoying, especially when you check just after midnight and you have no idea when your most recent texts were sent / received.
Maybe a fix will be released, who knows.

This is why I moved to Handcent
I don't want to rock the boat with any other SMS software yet. I've only just got the missing SMS problem resolved!

[Q] Problems with notification light and sending email

I haven't had this phone but a week and rooted it right after I got it so I don't know if this is an issue with the phone, the software, or the root process. In any case, the green notification light often doesn't light up on new emails or messages but does sometimes so it's not flat out broke. Also, sending email from gmail often results in the message in a permanent "sending" state. I did some searching and followed some suggestions such as clearing the data and cache for gmail but it's still doing it. Some send, many don't.
Has anyone seen these issues and know a fix? Thanks.
EDIT: Btw, I've only rooted and removed some bloatware. Nothing else is changed.

You probably removed something you shouldn't have. A lot of programs and functions are interdependent.

Possibly. But in that case I would expect an all or nothing response. Since both the notification and the email sending work at times I'm thinking it's a glitch or interference with something on the phone.

Handcent SMS and notification

My wife and I are both new to Android coming from IOS. She recently got a Note and I have a GS3 on order.
It was recommended that she try handcent SMS. Once we figured out all the settings and tweaks we had it working to her liking.
However just out of the blue one day it stopped giving any sort of notification. Nothing along the top, no pop up (even though it's enabled) nothing even in the notification center. I can't seem to figure this problem out. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I've cleared all the data, notifications are disabled on stock messaging app. But still no notification of any kind with Handcent. Any ideas?
On a side note after getting totally frustrated I downloaded Go SMS Pro as an alternative which worked wonderfully. However now that is duplicating every SMS message that **** gets. So annoying.
Is this a question?
Well I kinda thought it was obvious that since I was saying I was having problems that I was looking maybe for some tips or ideas...
In Handcent go to application settiigs and set it as default sms/mms then go to notification settings and set your prefrences then go to recieved message setting and check auto retrieve. Now go to the stock text app and turn off notifications and also turn off notifications for any other text app you have.
Hmmm I guess you didn't get my hint. That's OK.
It's kinda obvious that there is question & answer section for this purpose. It would be nice to keep questions in the right section and that will help others in the future.

are you getting actuall duplicate sms messages
or duplicate sms notification messages?
I use goSMS and love it. What you need to do is go into the settings on the native messaging app and disable notifications there. That will stop the duplicates. I thought GoSMS did a pretty good job of explaining this when you access it the first time.
Handcent app can be buggy at times. I already emailed the development team about issues and they said a new update should fix some issues in coming weeks. I only use handcent because there's an option to thread group conversation. Since a lot of my friends have iphones, it comes in handy because they love to group SMS...and now I can see everyone in a single message.

Random notification sound and vibration

Hello all. I have noticed that several times a day my phone will vibrate and the notification sound will play. I look at the phone and i do not have any message. I know it's not roaming because I am right in front of a cell site and have great signal. I did a search and found that folks were having this issue with a yahoo mail app, yet I do not have this app. I am on stock with the latest OTA (until new root comes out). Any ideas? I guess i can live with it as everything else works, but I'm worried that a message might be coming through and i'm missing it.

I would have to go through HTC to unlock the bootloader though correct? Want to keep this off the grid as much as possible.

Well when the facebook notifications happen i typically see an icon. I went ahead and disabled the notifications anyways and i'll see where i'm at in a few days I guess.
I am married, but I can say that if a woman of mine ever made a pro twilight post, I would remove her from my life.
unfriended with extreme prejudice! My Facebook notification was pretty sporadic, sometimes it would only appear for the length of time the vibration was happening.
So far, no vibrations. Maybe that was it...
I have had similar issues when I had the Yahoo mail app installed. You can turn off system notifications but it still makes the sound. I since just use the default mail app so not sure if it's still an issue.

help with messages not reciving.

Alright. I use an app called startup auditor. And I usually hit disable all apps. Makes more free ram. But I noticed that when I disable visual voicemail, I received NO txt messages. So I re enabled it. Bit now, I get the message and it shows up in my messages and status bar, but my phone doesn't ring or show it on lock screen. Until I disable everything again. I know all the setting are correct in the phone, but startup auditor must be disabling a needed process. Does anyone know what that process is?
Thanks.
anyone know what process that is?
If I were you I would NEVER mess with things you don't understand. And that is years of jaikbreaking experience speaking there.
Visual voicemail is hooked into a bunch of things, so disabling it could lead to major issues all around.

I agree since I know that app sucks. get autostarts but use with care. I don't use it to free ram but to keep certain apps from running all the time that won't cache over to the background. also helps save battery
