Battery Icon in 6.5 Dissappearing - TG01 General

Hi,
Two bugs I noticed in the Thoshiba 6.5 release. The first is the biggest issue - the battery status icon in the notification tray at the top is not present, when you put the device in landscape with the acceleromter it appears, but dissapears again when the device is locked.
The second is the "move to top" feature with icons in start. When "moving to top" sub menu icons, such as "connections" under "settings" it actually pushes the "connections" icon to the root of the start menu, outside of the "settings" sub menu.
Has anyone else noticed these issues and have tips?
Thanks!

The only way I can get the batt icon back is by tapping the time icon first.

I think in the registry. Like in windows with regedit command.
But in windows mobile with CeRegEditor.

That is the other one thanks

The battery icon is not a bug it just doubles up with the clock. Touch the clock and then go back to desktop and it will show battery icon in the task bar.

Hi, I used Total Commander and for both entries there is "1" and there to radio buttons "Dec" and "hex"...do not know really how to succeed in showing the battery

Another option. there is a tiny app BattClock.cab that splits the available space in two horizontally, showing the time with battery capacity

How do you disable the vibrate icon?

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to turn off the vibrate icon in the systray? I checked the wiki and saw how to disable the comm manager and power icon, but nothing for the vibrate one. I also searched around and nobody had anything posted about it. I'm running a Cingular 8525.
Thanks in advance.

There's a shortcut in the \Windows\Startup folder - I can't remember the name but it's icon looks just like the icon in the systray. Delete it and your all set.
Delete "Ringer Mode.lnk" in Windows/Startup
Thank you very much, this is why I love this website.
Just remember that also disables the function.
Fast question: is that icon an heart?

Indeed, I'd like the function without the icon, is it possible?
I deleted it. How can I get it back?

How to move up/down ur HTC HOME/MobileShell in Today SCREEN

May be u want to put now the SPB pocketplus 4 on the top of HTC home but u cannot move down/up ur htchome or mobileshell...
here is the solution.
Registry Edit...
Look in:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\HTC Home
and
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Spb Mobile Shell"
Change 'Type' from 5 to 4
You can now go into the usual Today options and put the plugins in any order you want
Or guys, for SKTOOL user can go to Today Plugin option and "unpin" them and they will be able to move freely as you like
we can use htc home customizer right?
by choosing unlock in options menu we can now move the htc home below spb pocket plus,.
wasnt that right bro?
actually i havent tried it yet, because i am not using spb pocket plus,. B-)
bit out of topic but, how do we prevent the weather from auto updating in htc home?

Yup it can be done
After unlocking it can be place in any tab of SPB including diary ,pocketplus ,or mobileshell
Its a really good thing to do as htc home is taking too much space in the today screen, so but having tab option will be as good as havin more space or "multiple screens".
Just abit side track,
Do not install too many today plugin as it will hog ur device of handling dll in the background which will causes instabilities in SIP where custom SIP failed to load well, system lagging is often felt too (even free RAM remains high) because window mobile is weak in this aspect even in wm6

HTC Home Battery Level Indicator

I just installed HTC Home via HHC. Very nice today plugin, I had never used it before. Is there a way to put a battery level icon somewhere on the today screen? Is there one in HTC Home? I wasn't able to find it if there is.
Thanks,
Jeff
p.s. I am running DCD 3.2.5 if that matters at all.
Vista Hide Battery Gauge
Unzip this and Put this executable in the Windows \ Startup, folder.
It'll place a sweet multi-colored battery bar on the top of your screen when you restart...and there it will remain.

Thank you. I was hoping to find something that sits on the titlebar on the today screen and any running programs (next to the clock). I have been unable to find anything. I found a program called Batti last night, which is very similar to the one you mentioned. It works pretty well.
Jeff
SmartMonitor* can do this. Many themes use it for RAM, GSM and battery level indications.
* Hope Proper doesn't mind if I link his site.

I personally like a program called Quickmenu. It will not only give you a cascading start menu but will alot show the battery level in % format but will also display available RAM. All dont in 2 lines in the top right corner of your screen. It will aslo free RAM aswell as give you a shortcut for soft resets within the menu.

I was just looking over the screen shot of your today screen, and you have the 1X icon, the network strength icon, the ringer icon, and the battery level icon. How did you get that battery level icon? That is the one I want, but it seemed to have gone away when I installed a DCD rom.
I have a clock in place of the battery level.
Jeff
you can either use the hhc settings or go into the registry and change hklm software/microsoft/shell and change the value of showtitlebarclock.

Remove clock on top bar
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\]
"ShowTitleBarClock"=0 (disable)
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 (enable)
When you remove the clock it will replace it with the battery.

[28 March 2009]Start Menu Button Hook v. 0.3

StartButton.
25 February 2009 v. 0.1 - First release
5 March 2009 v. 0.2 - changes:
+ option to intercept the tap on the text on the right of the start button, usually "Start"
I don't think it is a good idea, but since someone requested it...
+ option to specify the full path to the launched program, works for programs on memory card
28 March 2009 v. 0.3 - changes:
+ option to hook the hardware Window Buttons for devices that have it
Developed with iLaunch (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486618) in mind, it's a very simple application: you can specify a program, and it will be run when you "tap" on the start icon.
It's main purpose is to replace the Start Menu with another "launcher" application, allowing to access anyway to the Windows Start Menu by tapping on the right of the Start Button.
Someone requested to extend the hook to the "hardware Start Button", but afaik there is not such a standard hardware button, at least on WM5 and WM6.
Some devices have an hardware button for the Start Menu, some don't, some don't have hardware buttons at all.
There are other applications that can manage hardware buttons, StartButton is for the icon!
It's based on the code of GreenButton by Supbro (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462963)
Both are open source GNU GPL V3
StartButton source is at Google Code:
http://code.google.com/p/startbutton/
How to start a program?
HKCU\software\iApps\StartButton\Run
the default value is: "iLaunch\iLaunch.exe" (without the ")
You can specify here a relative path to your program files folder: in an english wm program files folder is, well, "Program Files", and usually applications are located inside it.
so if you want to use say "MyApplication.exe" wich is inside the "MyApplicationFolder" wich is inside the "Program Files" folder:
the full path is:
\Program Files\MyApplicationFolder\MyApplication.exe
and then you need to write:
MyApplicationFolder\MyApplication.exe
if you want to start an application that is not on the Program Files folder, you can write the full path instead:
\Memory Card\Program FIles\MyApplicationFolder\MyApplication.exe
How to extend the hook to the "Start" text?
HKCU\software\iApps\StartButton\HookText
Set this value to 1 for hooking the word "Start"
Delete the key for hooking only the Start button
You have to soft reset your device for the changes to have effect
How to extend the hook to the hardware button?
HKCU\software\iApps\StartButton\HookWinKey
Set this value to 1 for hooking the hardware button
Delete the key for hooking only the screen Start button
You have to soft reset your device for the changes to have effect
thanks a TON for this man, it was exactly what I needed!
thanks again
btw, how much RAM does it consume?

It doesn't work on my Glofiish X600. When is enabled the start menu icon doesn't respond no matter what application I define in registry. When I disable it start menu returns to normal.

You have to soft reset the device when you change the registry value.
And could you post the path you entered in the registry?
Hmm, maybe someone could use this hack to make a WM 6.5 style launcher...
Just out of curiosity, is there any reason you elected to make this an application instead of a service? I'm not being critical I was just curious because I'm in the early stages of developing a GUI-less application as well and I'm trying to decide which is the best way to implement (service vs application).
Great work!

The real reason is that GreenButton is an application, and StartButton is based on GreenButton source code...
But probably changing to a service is a good idea

Update(01/03/09): Implemented display scaling so more apps work. New version based on android 1.1 with working Gmail, Calendar and Market.

Is this just for a hardware button or can it replace a screen tap as well? I ask only because I have no hardware start button on my device.

It's not for the hardware button, it intercepts the click (or "tap") on the Start Menu icon.

Why do you need the 'Lock' in Manilla Home? When you can just press End Call button to lock + off screen display.
lock screen
sure is useful. I often call people from my pocket, because the on/off button is on the front face of the device and gets easily pressed accidentally. But thanks for the hint that it's in the start menu I didn't notice and always used long press red + lock screen
Solution
I have DeviceLock.exe in my "Storage Card\Program Files\.tools" folder. The .exe is attached.
My .reg file to change LSK to DeviceLock:
