enable jit on hero? - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what about this on hero?
hyyp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=637419
cheers,
spania

pushed it, booted, logcat stops after a few seconds, then nothing for ten minutes...

For this to stand any chance of working you must be using a 2.1 ROM.
I pushed this to my hero running VANILLAIN 1.1 the phone does manage to boot up but I got a whole lot of force closes including (most unfortunately) the main phone software which continually FC'd and reloaded making the system very slow. Despite this, I managed to run linpack and got a return of over 3 mflops so the JIT is clearly running but untill the phone FC is solved clearly it is useless! This will have to be something one of the DEVs looks at. It would be worth others running 2.1 ROMS trying this out also.
I will continue to experiment!
Aleks

Still can't get this to work correctly. Vanillain loads correctly but com.android.phone stops working unexpectedly every time repeatedly. However I have managed to get 3.633 Mflops/s in Linpack which is a vast improvement on the standard benchmark! If the devs can implement this to work without the FC of the phone then we will have android 2.1 running very smoothly indeed!

Pushed it to VANILLAIN 1.1. Managed to get 3.5Mflops/s (Linpack) and 283 Total CPU Score (Benchmark).
I'm going to use this daily and see if I'm getting any problems. Working fine so far with no FC.

sounds fantastic
what about the feeled speed(navigating and so on)?

I tried with kagudroid (1.2.2) but have many FC on principal apps and phone was useless... now i try with vanillain 1.1

Hi.
How did you do it ? The long instruction from the thread, or did you just push it ??
Rgds Gtot

Yeah, with vanillain 1.1 works very well
With linpack :
before : 2.102 Mflops/s
after : 3.3 or 3.4 Mflops/s
Really a nice performance boost and no fc or crash.
Follow the instruction of topic linked by spania.

Hi @all,
I just flashed the Vanillain 1.1 and tried to enable jit.
The problem I have is, that it does not found su like its said in the jit installation tutorial. But the file exists in the /system/bin.
Do I have to use absolute paths or is there something wrong in my system?
Thanks

Just tried it on CKDroid 1.6b.
With Root Explorer I simply replaced the libdvm.so and gave the file the same permissions as the original file.
Reboot, then the figures :
Before : 2.195 Mflop, 2.47s
After : 3.265 Mflop, 1.68s
Did not extensive tests, but i could not see overall speed improvement. Maybe should I test further.

I have done exactly the same on my Hero running Villain 3.0. When the phone has rebooted, everything starts up right, and i can see it receives new messages, but i can't unlock the lockscreen. It looks like the screen just freezes.
Any ideas ?

Update: After some reboots, i finally got in. It looks like everything works, except for sliding between homescreens (Sense FC). Benchmarking went from 145 to 278 and linpack went from 2.28 to 3.38 BUT i can't feel any difference.
Gtot

Well mine is very stable and has gone from 2.2 to 3.2. However it isn't noticeable faster to use, will see after more testing!

Check internet browsing. blazing fast for me. Overall still a bit of imrpovement in application starting and running, but of course not in 3D graphics. But this is ovious.
JIT accelerates execution of code. internet browsing benefits a lot from my experience.

i have over 3mflops but in 25+ seconds no jit,2.1 build any idea?

The new version of linpack has changed the measurement from a total of 200x200 to 500x500(don't know exactly what these numbers represent, sorry, but they are some kind of calculations I think). They did that to increase the precision in CPU processing power measurement because newer devices with powerful CPUs got inaccurate results in like 0,15 seconds.
Hope I helped!

oXbench is alot better tbh

jit
tks allot guys ,i was just wondering...my phone is very responsive and it was jut a question of timing...25-30+ seconds seeing 1.4,1.3 ......

[Q] Has anyone installed Honeycomb a2.1

If so have you found anything that was not working on it? I am currently running VEGAn Ginger and want to try the HC but I want to know what is not working before taking the time to nvflash and install new ROM.
No, but
Many things are still not workin, but there are great improvements daily. I think it wont be long to say a stable beta version.
So i would suggest to be patient and wait till the beta is out
Thanks, I will stay with VEGAn for now until then.
I loaded a2.2 and it is pretty good. They updated the email apps in a2.3. The only things now not really working are hd video, camera, flash (not sure if flash is working in further updates). Overall, for me the things that are missing are already missing in vegan rc1 (hd video and camera) so I am gonna stay with honeycomb and continue updating as new updates come out. It is nice and streamlined.
Been running every iteration. I've stuck with a2.1 now for a bit.
After this update, they have the overclocking kernel back in place and my gtab hates that. So I reverted back to 2.1, and then just copied the working email and gmail apps over.
Just missing the flash, who cares about the camera.
Came from Vegan Ginger, so the only thing this doesnt have over that is the working flash. But to be honest, its been a lot more stable than ginger ever was.

I installed a2.2 and it is crazy fast. 1900 quadrant before OC 2900+ after OC. Only caveat is the wifi crashes and the camera issues. Waiting for RC now.

You need to update to 2.4 - a good bit was fixed. Still no camera or OpenGL, but almost everything I need is fine as wine!
(I still am not happy with Asus-based 3.X yet - hoping for an Acer-based version 2.5 or something higher ... or version 4)

Pretty sure that is just running the Adam or Bottle of Smoke ROM.
The 3.01 they reference is the Honeycomb version, the 2.X referred to here is version of the Bottle of Smoke mod by Roebeet.
Bottle of Smoke
Just got it running today. It took me several hours to figure out the process, but I have successfully loaded the software. I am running Smoke Alpha 3.3. I am experiencing problems with wifi which seems to only be available for about 10-20 minutes. Once it stops working I have to restart the system. I can't scan or restart wifi from with in settings. I did get vulkano to work but it to locked up when I tried to change channels. I couldn't get Dolphin HD to work -- it loads but won't render any web pages, but Firefox beta (5) seems to work just fine. For some reason I can't download opera 11 from the market but other apps install with not problem. I have tried a few basic games (for the grand kids) and they seem to be working ok.
Does anyone know if Netflix is working for Bottle of Smoke??
Not on my viewsonic. You can access your queue but you can't view any videos.

Except for Opera, all of those are (well) documented issues. Read through the last 10-20 pages in Roebeet's BoS thread at Slatedroid and you will see many other people talking about the same things.

Who else is running cm7?

How are you liking it? Its pretty bug free for me, aside from Facebook force closing.

Runs nice for alpha, but do not see maps, earth in the market and docs do not work. Was any one able to manage to get these apps working?

I flashed it and it works but clockworkmod does not work .. get andn error and failed boot.. Stuck on what to do to fix it.
Anyone benchmark it at all? Like browser tests especially because that is where WebOS was infuriating.
Sunspider and Browsermark primarily. Also would be amazingly interested in seeing page load tests of a WebOS Touchpad next to a CM7 touchpad, if anyone has two of these things.

Same problem here for me. I Believe the missing apps is a known bug.
Posting this from my cm7 touchpad!
I ran quadrant and there's something wrong with either quadrant or the touchpad because when going through the hallway it only got about 6fps

For what it's worth, touchstone won't charge
it puts it in dock mode, it trips the charger icon so you think it's charging, but it won't actually charge
kinda stinks, that's a major major bug to me
but I guess that's why it's called an Alpha build

Loving it. Hadn't touched my TP for months and had no hesitation to flash the alpha. I'd say for an alpha it is way ahead of most alphas. I'd almost call it a beta, but I guess some of the bugs, (like the wifi losing connection once in a while) are too big to be beta.

I read you can just grab maps and google apps that wont show up in the market from your phone and move them over. Just grab the .apks off the internet if you want. I just transferred over my TI Backup file and am reinstalling all the apps I want now, g maps is working for me.
I installed last night and so far it's great. The performance is great, no lags, all the apps I need\want have installed without any problems. The only issue I've had so is the battery drain makes it unresponsive so I had to power + home until it rebooted.
I got it loaded but the moboot option and recovery options did not work...so I could not boot back into webos. So I just flashed it back to Webos with the doctor. I think I will give it a little more time for the bugs to get hammered out.
Absolutely LOVE it. Super slick and fantastic for an Alpha build. 90% of the things i want for the tablet install and work without a hitch.
One nice surprise, my WebOS portion of my Touchpad was NOT wiped out in the installation. I booted into WebOS earlier, and to my surprise, everything was intact and exactly how it was left pre-CM7 install. I've been playing with it all day, and i must say, battery life has been great thus far. Tablet is showing almost 7hrs of use (display ON for about 5hrs) and still has 40% battery left!
love it. But it wiped everyhig on my webos. So now I have to figure out how to put my pictures and videos back
Overall I haven't had any problems. Can't wait for future updates
No issues except for wifi issues.
I'm running CM7, and I think it runs really well for an alpha release. I've had minimal problems and most problems are easily corrected and there are some workarounds appearing already.
Flashed CM7 yesterday. Seems more like a Beta than a Alpha build. I tried most of my apps and they work without issue. CM7 runs very well with minor hiccups. Some things I did after seeing others have issues
1-Wifi sleep policy set to never
2-Use Setcpu to OC to 1.5 and undervolt at 384 and I have no issues with the device waking up
3-Use the app "Myappsharer" to send the APKs from my Thunderbolt to the tablet and they install with no issues
4-Before I flashed CM7 I made a copy of everything on the TouchPad to my laptop in case it got wiped out.
This was my first time trying WebOs the past few weeks and I kind of liked it. I do not think I will be going back to it though. I definitely prefer the customization of Android.
I am really liking CM7. I installed it this evening and it seems to be chugging along. I was able to install Order & Chaos on it, but I had to change the build.prop in order to get it to run. It played better than I would have thought, for an Alpha version of the OS. I am going to try and overclock it to see if that smooths out the game.

I love it, my only thing is dead screen on wake up. It wakes up fine but it's unresponsive. I have to click the power button three times to get it to work.

ICS SOD and Crashes

Hello There I updated my folio to cm9 and found out that i cannot post on developement , so i decided to create a new thread to here in order to publish todays testing of the new rom.
First thing is that i installed with cwm 5.0.0.9 with no problem so that worked too.
It worked smooth and fast. Not as fast as foliomod 1.4 but almost.
I have SOD with no app installed only market. (i try to reinstall with the creator proposed recovery)
I found that i can install now the 3.1 and up applications like adobe photoshop and ideas .
I painted photoshop for a few hours and had a strange freezing first than after a minute and so it came to life by itself.
30 minutes later it freezed for good and it ruined the system so i had to reinstall the ROM...
I couldnt make a photo of the system message of boot error but it said 2 differend one wifi related and 1 driver related...
(sorry i have no chance to logcat because of win7... If someone pm me about a solution of logcat work in win7)
I am a newbie so i dont know how to use developer related programs and webpages but i try to share information with the community here.
All in all i think this ROM is faster and better than honeycomb mods and runs photoshop (i wanted a tablet to paint...)
I had strange wifi signal ups and downs during connection...
working:
- UI
- Wifi
- Bluetooth
- Sensors
- Audio
- Gapps
- skype, imo
- games (cut the rope), gameloft apps (x2 optimus version)
not working
-youtube app
-flash in browsers
-playing flash videos
I want to thank for all who is working on the ICS ROMs right now, you do a really good job guys, please keep up so we can all have a very good tablet working .
Im looking forward for solutions for not working parts and updates .
So glad to hear the photoshop works on it - that's one of the apps that I was really hoping would work. Did you say that photoshop remained pretty stable over those few hours?
I know that the rom is going to be pretty unstable though - SOD is not a real issue to me, but the rom corrupting itself is a bit of a worry!
no sod for me, stable rom, youtube works fine, remove the hd video display, we have to wait for the flash player updates the rom, maybe you should use the Opera browser.
Hey guys,
Flash didnt work with my 4.0.3 Rom too. The "SOD" wakes up after round about 30 sec in my case, dont reboot so fast.
Working Stuff:
Apparatus
GTA 3 (v. 1.2)
Youtube (not full tested)
Reckless Racing HD
My Issues:
Sound sometimes didnt work after "half SOD"
Wlan Problems (didnt connect to my wlan, after reboot 2 or 3 times its gone, this bug is since the Dexter 0.3 mod)
My Question:
Can i change the Resolution? The HC 0.3 Rom, had the best for my opinion
Anyone try a usb gamepad? This would be awesome with the snes emu
Can i turn off the softkeys?
Can i fix the 180° display rotation from bootup?
I will try some tests and things and give feedback.
best regards
Dave
A guy called Strozzi posted that
Screen rotation: OK but after having enabled it in the trebuched app

Does that fix what you mean?
I find the whole 10 posts before you post in the development section a bit silly. I understand the desire for the forum to not be full of 'noobs' but I registered because I could help with an answer to a question that someone asked. Oh well...
Loving all your reports on ICS tho... going to give it a try once the app store starts showing everything! Photoshop is the main pull for me tho...
It was stable until the slowup and freeze, i think it is useful if u save frequently. It has the core funcions of everything you need in photoshop.
someone write that the flash contend work only with the opera browser, i will test this at the evening.
What i mean with the rotation is, the display looks greater when the screen is 180° rotated
greets

Ah yes, i dont think thats possible to phisically turn the display 180 degrees because of construction... It is the biggest fault in toshiba's development history to use a screen like this...
SO todays testing last update on cm9:
Still no idea on SOD.
I got into a bootloop from a normal power off than power on with wifi
After that loop i used mblasters recovery to reinstall it again...
got into bootloop right after intstall. I did a factory reset to get it started up again.
I got a system up and running again with no apps :S
I dont think this is app related...
I have SOD with the new recovery too. Looks like i'm the only one fighting with SOD. ( my device go to hibernation after 30 sec from screen off and no way to wake it up)
And.... after the first SOD i got into bootloop again... then with a simple restart it is working... i dont know what to do now. Maybe reinstall is not necessary if this happens every now and then...
i got the 2. time a SOD, dunno why its totally random....
Flash didnt work with the Opera Browser. I think i make a fastboot -w shortly and test it again.
Its possible that is the old genovea problem with the 256 mhz and vcore bug, with the SOD?
I think i install a Linux to get some logcat output.
edit: im a dumbass, logcat also available @ adb.exe logcat :/
best regards
Dave
really good job on this rom! Try it with ADW launcher EX and it will run completely smooth!
It's an experimental build and we already have a nearly stable rom, it just needs to improve the performance, add ondemand cpu governor (performance governor has horrible battery life), get flash working, use camera (not really important for me) and we would have the perfect rom!

Someone mentioned in the dev thread that there is no flash version for ICS yet which is why flash isn't working. This true?
As for camera - really not a biggie. They'll only get that working once the source for it is released. Not sure if that is...
The strange thing is that some people are saying this rom is perfect and stable while others are talking about it crashing and going into a bootloop... :/

It's pretty stable for me, I'm using it as "every-day" rom. Flash Player for ICS was released in December, also I've seen it working nicely on a GT-i9000 with 4.0.3 just downloading flash from android market.
I neither care about the camera. I've never used it. Now I rmember another problem on the rom: USB storage (connecting folio to PC) doesn't work.
Well I bit the bullet and have gone to CM9. The rom is great, took a while to get my google account setup (kept getting the unreliable connection error) but overall I was impressed. One SOD but seems way more stable than foliomod and the speed is great.
My only question is... How did you guys get apps on that aren't 'supported'. Two apps that I know work are 'unsupported'. Do I just change the build.prop or are you guys using a different method? Really want photoshop touch and RawVision on my device.
Oh and a small tip, I forgot to wipe when I upgraded and I had a working update from CM7. Only issue was that the market app was broken, but as that's pretty integral I had to wipe...
tested the new build, so far it has he same issues as the previous build, but Wifi lost when tablet is sleeping seems to be fixed! Also I've noticed that multi-mount sdcard app doesn't work now.
new version
I still cannot get the folio out of hibernation in cm9, however i figured out that my total crash message was not real. When freezed, the folio wont boot for a while (30 minutes or so). After about half an hour it is booting like nothing happened. Freezing was a rare thing with r1 now it is regular, so it is not too good. I think battery drain is still problem. Many apps is working corrupted or not work at all, but some other work that not before. Oh and you have to forget flash for now. I think it is still not good for everyday use but it is definitely not far from that. Hold on for 1 more month Nopy pls.
My issuses:
- Power Button needs to be pushed twice or more for wake UP from standby
- camera Shows mutiple (4) live pics, no Video ins possible
- No Market Download works
- home Button (softbutton on the side ) is out off order
- Touchscreen ins a little Bit less sensitive

hi there,
i just installed the new CM9.0.0.0

Am i the only one and what can i do?
Market not working
Hi *,
also installed cm9 with kernel 2.6.29.
A real awesome rom, thank you for the good work!
I have the issue that apps won't install in the market. When trying to download, folio says that an error has occured.
Any hint what could cause this behavior?
I installed the gApps with clockworkmod recovery.
renamed zinfile in update.zip, copied to sdcard
booted into recovery
applied update.zip to recovery.
Apps work, market also but u can't donload any app.
thanks,

Or you can use ADB:
Code:
adb push c:\path-to-framework\framework.jar /system/framework
adb shell chmod 0644 /system/framework/framework.jar
This mod really helps smooth out menu scrolling, most noticeable while browsing long lists like in Titanium Backup or Root Explorer, I've noticed a speed boost under Youtube as well (CM9). This made a bigger difference on XRON, but still makes a notable difference under CM9.
Reduce Lag - For XRON/CM7/CM9a0.5
Up threshold tweak, under advanced settings with CPU Master/SetCPU - 30-40% should provide you with a lag-free experience.
Use SetCPU instead of CPU Master for CM9a0.5 with BrickedKernel.
This tweak will get rid of most of the jumpiness in heavy applications, like Cordy or Opera Mobile. I ran the TP before and after side-by-side with the iPad 2 and it went from about 30-40% the speed of the iPad 2 to about 80-90% (Opera Mobile VS Safari). A big improvement. The downside to this tweak is you will experience worse battery life.
Reduce Lag - For older versions of XRON (before 2.8) and CM7
In the build.prop make these changes:
1. Change debug.composition.type=c2d to debug.composition.type=gpu
2. Add debug.sf.hw=1 (or change to match if it already there)
This build.prop change will help speed up the UI dramatically if you are still running CM7 3.5 or an older version of XRON.
Improve Auto-Rotation Speed - CM9a0.5
Included in the cm9a0.5-framework.jar are modifications that should help speed up auto-rotation as explained here and here.
These tweaks made a dramatic difference on my TP. Good luck!
These will probably speed up MIUI too, but you'll have to do the framework.jar mod yourself. If you do, feel free to share the jar and I'll add it to the post.
Off-topic, but I booted up webOS for the first time in months today to update it. Damn, that thing is slow.
Interesting, I'll try out #1 and #2. Thanks for putting it into a separate thread since I wouldn't have noticed it otherwise.

WebOS, running an overclocked kernel at close to 1.8GHz on both cores, is extremely smooth. The multitasking and saving of current app states is excellent. Too bad there's not much more than the browser, email, and Angry Birds and a few Gameloft games to put it to use.
Going to try out these tweaks, thanks!

I really like WebOS as well, HP/Palm really hit the nail on the head concerning the user experience and multitasking. With all the Preware tweaks and the device overclocked it is quite fast.
But the web experience is still too sluggish for my taste, especially when compared to Android running Opera Mobile with the tweaks above or an iPad 2.. And of course there is a major lack of applications for WebOS.
Thanks for posting. I'm a TP newb running CM7 3.5. It sounds like 2 and 3 are applicable to CM7. I'm going to give 3 a try.
Are there any other general tips for CM7 or the Touchpad in general?

The first one will work on CM7 as well, but you'll have to mod the framework.jar yourself as explained in this post.
You could also try my framework.jar, but it may break your install (if you try it make sure to create a nandroid first).
Yeah, it broke my wifi even though I'm on Xron. I'll just have to do it manually later

Which version? It should have no problems on 2.9 deodexed, I've done it multiple times.
Make sure you set the permissions/owner the same as the old file.
It was 2.9
However, I suspect the problem might have been something else as restoring the nandroid didn't fix it and I had to go back to an even older nandroid.

The main problem with webOS is it lacks text reflow. The iOS and WP7 also lack it. I don't know why Android is the only OS that gets this right. I actually wish I had text reflow on my desktop/laptop browsers, and occasionally boot into a x86 Android virtual machine just for specific sites whose fonts don't play well with Chrome (since Google removed font size increases years ago and never replaced it).
I also don't understand why no one complains about the lack of text reflow in other OS's. Maybe I'm just blind or something.
BTW (a little more on topic), do these tweaks work with ICS?

I'm not sure. The framework.jar mod might, but I have not tried it yet. The up threshold tweak would probably help, but I haven't figured out how to change that yet. The build.prop tweak did not seem to change anything for me.
Updated OP with info/tweaks for CM9.
Are we supposed to rename CM9-framework.jar to framework.jar in order to replace the framework.jar that's already present in /system/framework?

Correct.
Create a nandroid beforehand just in case. Also, make sure that you set the permissions/owner the same as the original file.
If you are running a different variation I can't guarantee it will work, it has only been tested with CM9A0 and CM9A0.5.
For some bizarre reason the only thing that shows up under the "Advanced" Tab is "sampling rate". I've tried both CPU Master and SetCPU, and all I can see is sampling rate. Nothing else shows up.

On CM9 you've gotta use Bricked-Kernel and SetCPU, otherwise the settings won't show.

Okay, finally got it to work. I had been confused regarding the presence of the "brickedkernel" and "cyanogen mod" option in the boot up list. When I went to brickedkernel wi-fi didn't work, but in the CMMod option it did. I finally realized that when I had flashed back to Alpha 0, then back to .5 (to correct a boot loop issue), the Bricked Wi-Fi modules must have been replaced. So I reflashed the Bricked kernel and Wi-Fi worked. Finally went to SetCPU and surprise! Threshold was already at 90% lol. Opera is still jumpy though so I give up. I mean it's "smoother", but not as smooth as on my Charge.
My "Scaling" is set to "ondemand" (with max freq. of 1.56 GHz), Sampling rate set to 50,000, and "Ignore Nice Load" and "Powersave Bias" are both set to 0. I'll try to set Sampling Rate to 10000 and see what happens.
Edit: Nope, no change. Ah well...

Yeah, I have it at 30%/50000/1.5ghz and it is quite smooth, smoother than the stock browser at least.. But not quite as smooth as my Epic.
I'm guessing that once HW Acceleration is working 100% it'll speed things up a bit more.
I'm on cm9 a.05 booted to Bricked and still don't see anything else except sampling under setcpu | advanced

ICS Collective BASE4

Okay so I took the plunge and installed my first ROM (ICS Collective Base4) among other things with my SGH-I717M (Bell). Everything went very well and here are the issues that despite reading over 500 pages in threads related to these issues, I have not been able to solve them (workarounds, sure). I'm hoping that others can confirm these glitches and whether or not they have been able to remedy them:
-Upon boot, "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped". Annoying, but doesn't seem to affect anything. No workaround or solution.
-Baseband "unknown". Tried ODIN flash install AND coming from completely stock phone via CWM flash, neither has remedied this problem. Doesn't seem to affect anything so don't really care.
-Stock calendar application missing - really don't like some of the other calendars, but I can't seem to find the APK file in any other ICS ROM's out there, so I gave up on this. So workaround, no solution.
-Time zone wrong. Workaround is to deselect automatic network management and select the correct timezone. Reverts back to incorrect upon rebooting so apparently only a workaround and no solution.
-Upon booting setCPU max/min speeds are incorrect and you have to open the application for it to correct the speeds. Perhaps it's just the widget that's broken, but for now it's a workaround and I can't seem to figure out a solution. Quandrant benchmarks seem to indicate that if I don't do this, the performance is affected as if the speeds are 1242max/384min and not 1512max/384min.
-Phone freezes on "Power Off", have to hold power button - camera flash goes off and then restarts. Workaround seems to be to use terminal emulator or other applications to reboot, etc. Don't know if there's a solution to this.
-Wallpaper incorrectly zooms - workaround: market applications. No solution that I can find yet.
-Unrelated to the ROM, but V6 Supercharger - I can only get it to report 50% supercharged, even after modifying my services.jar file and following all "step 8" instructions (that was an undertaking!!!). Don't know what's up there, but maybe some of you super-techs have figured it out.
-Only 624MB of RAM available instead of 700MB+ with GB. Haven't heard anything about why this is, so no solution or workaround.
-Doesn't seem to be an ICS keyboard available? I think this can just be installed from the market but I haven't tried it so not sure.
I'm sure there's other things like with Swype, tethering, etc.. etc... that are not working but this is just what I've noticed within the last 8 hours of flashing and trying to set-up and configure. Any comments or helpful suggestions for a n00b like me?
Thank you for any and all feedback. Thank you to all the developers working hard on this fresh release to bring us a solid ROM!

Remember, this is a leaked firmware, these bugs are within that leak itself and a few of these issues have been addressed (unknown baseband, etc..) And will be fixed when we release the actual full ROM. this is just the base we shared in the mean time. A few are still present likesome settings not sticking through boot, and the power menu hanging.
Ithink is ur phone acting weird. Only the setcpu speeds not sticking and issue about wallpaper which can easily be fixed by using quicpics are the two issues my phone had. Just dnt use any cpu controller i noticed phone goes to sleep when no cpu controller while when there is cpu controller screen off speed sticks to 384 or 192

Absolutely. And considering what I've read about previously leaked versions of Android over the years, this one performs like a champ. Can't wait to see what comes out next, but I figured from what I've read this one works well enough to go the distance and install. Thanks again collective!

Yeah, just thought I would put my experience out there if it helps anyone or if someone could help me lol. It's very likely some of these are isolated problems, but most of them are problems with the leaked version. I uninstalled setCPU because I think you're right, something likes to nom nom the battery when the screen is off.
Oh and here's something odd which I don't know if anyone else has experienced with ICS or GB, but Terminal Emulator doesn't allow me to type anything unless I capitalize each individual letter. Which of course is useless because it can't accept commands in caps. When I press any key in lowercase it's like I haven't done anything. I had to switch to the pen mode where I scribe each letter and then it puts lowercase letters in for me. Anyone know what's up with this?
This is probably not the best Rom to run for your first flash. I would try one of the official releases in the development thread, unless you are an official tester for The Collective...
Can't wait till they release an official ROM ...

I had that issue in GB... In ICS it seems to be intermittent- sometimes it just works others it doesn't...
And regarding the baseband, not sure about the Collective rom, but DAGr8's ICS rom displays the modem correctly on my Bell Note.
I also had the timezone issue- strangely enough when I disabled network time and timezone, I also stopped get random slowdowns and ANRs.

We've got the baseband unknown issue fixed in the full ROM. We just haven't released it. Still working on a couple things before we're comfortable sharing.
Hi, here are my thoughts;
1. Flash a CWM ICS modem(fixed it for me). If you cant find a modem use Dagr8's inital version of the ICS leak, it will successfully flash the modem(unlike the initial collective version(post 501 thread). The main point is to ensure you have the correct baseband(should not say unknown).
2. For now, dont supercharge the ICS leak until you have a stable running OS.
3. After fixing the baseband unknown issue(#1), reflash the collective post 501 ICS rom. It is stable, and the cleanup of the bloat was started already.
4. After installing #3, factory reset your phone.
At this point you should have a bloated, but error free ICS on your computer. Make a CWM backup, install titanium backup, and rip out the junk APK's(widgets, samsung/att garbage). Doing this will provide longer battery life and better performance.
No other wipe scripts are needed.
Factory reset BEFORE flash. The cwm script in the zip itself formats /system and /cache before it writes anything.
And the baseband unknown thing isn't a big deal. Its not that you don't have a modem at all, everything still works you get mobile data, its just the os doesn't properly report it.
if you like what you got, i say sit tight, we're working on the full ROM. You won't be disappointed

Would be cool if you guys could make a minimalistic style rom without all the makeup and cosmetics and focused on performance
We think its cooler to do BOTH
Cause the guys at Samsung must have left their seeing eye dogs at home when it came time to theme
most of us don't usually do minimalistic... once a stable rom gets out you can expect a variety of themes. Sit tight.

Same experience here
well done guys excellent base.... Having the same experiences as helios909...
Really looking forward to the the fully packaged version. Not experiencing problems with cpu speed set on boot.
Face unlock not work properly yet. Device hangs on reboot as reported. Auto update time bug exists. Baseband version unknown. Phone crashes on initial boot. But recovers.
New voice type engine is amazing. As demonstrated here.
