accidentaly upgrade to a leaked 2.1 - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi i accidentaly upgrade to a liked 2.1 because i taught these guy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=646595&page=3 #23
had the correct PB00IMG on he's blog

what does that even mean?

It means the emperor is wearing No Pants.

I could understand mistakenly updated but accidentally? How does one accidentally update their phone?
Is it like, "I was placing a phone call but instead of hitting the '8' I instead hit 'update'"?

I think he means updated accidently because according to Zifna's post, he thought he could roll back. He was wrong though, I guess Zifna jumped the gun on that one, but what can you do? you can't go back to 1.5 now, sorry, I think next time you should read as much as you can before updating and not just trusting one guys word

It looks like he misread the post, so I claim "User Error"

Not development related. Moved.

which one do i have
Perhaps he means he downloaded the wrong PB00IMG? I downloaded the PB00IMG and thought it was the rooted one but I think it is the leaked now??? I installed it as per ivanmmjs walkthrough but it booted up with 2.1 and I dont know how to tell if i am rooted or leaked????? Any help

You have to download the one in my link. PB00IMG.zip is not the name of the ROM, it's the required name for the flash to work.

Yes, but the post/thread/instructions leading to the link would tell you whether you downloaded the leaked version or the rooted version.
If you do not know at this point then it is probably too late since they all have the same file name :\
This is why researching things like flashing a custom ROM to your phone to the fullest extent possible before doing it is always recommended by anyone that frequently posts here.

That's what I mean. The file name will ALWAYS be the same since the name tells the hboot that the file is a ROM. What's inside of the PB00IMG.zip is what actually changes. You can't go by filename, unfortunately.

Rooting stock V20C (2.3.3)

Hi folks...
According to reports on this forum, some people seem to have managed rooting their stock 2.3.3 roms.
However, I don't seem to be able to do this
I used the official LG update tool to upgrade to V20C, and it looks like I have a perfectly working Gingerbread installation, but when I try to root (using Gingerbreak, which I thought should work), nothing happens (Gingerbreak keeps running without changing anything).
In the DEV forum FAQ, there is no information about rooting GB roms (yet).
If anyone who successfully did this, would care to comment, I'd be very much obliged
thanks

Either that or do this:
in ADB:
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
then open superoneclick and root (using psneuter).
Thanks, that worked fine. First time I tried I had some problems but I must have done something wrong

Doktornotor seems to have disappeared (deleted?) and his signature's gone with him also, it's impossible now to search on his username.
Does anyone have a link to the thread where he describes how to root by flashing? I'm probably too stupid to wrap my head around the search function on this site because I really can't find the thread. (by the way I don't think it was the general thread where he tells you how to flash gingerbead)

[Q] How do i change my Kernel version info from root info to original

As the title states im looking to remove root info from my kernel version for warranty purposes, my phone shows -
2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI4-CL575468
[email protected] #2
I am not able to use usb for kies or S2 root but i can flash via ODIN and have flashed original rom/kernel to stock but the root info remains under kernel version , is there a way to remove?
Thanks in advance.
I'm sure I answered this very question yesterday ... oh, I did! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22163342#post22163342
That "root" just means that the user "root" compiled the kernel on the machine "DELL143", not that your phone is rooted.
Sorry, but this just has to be done
Ok thank you, i did search the forum but no result came up.
Just need to reset my flash counter and send it back then.

Issue Installing CyanogenMod 7.2 on S2

I have been trying to install the CyanogenMod 7.2 for hours now...I have reset the phone back to stock and rooted twice. When trying to install the mod I get the following error -
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
It is driving me nuts...have tried all 3 options on their site for installation, I'm sure Im not the only person with this issue.
Can anybody shed some light on this issue in PLAIN english...the help would be much appreciated.
I think u have stock recovery
You need CWM recovery
Or if u have CWM recovery then turn off signature verification
I have it and used it already...error is the same.

Don't try to flash with rom manager
Do it manually by CWM recovery
and post questions in Q/A section from next time
I am running the full version of CWM and it does not give me any options for disabling or turn off signature verification. Also manual CWM does not work....gives the exact same issue.
Sorry for posting in wrong part of forum new...and forums very confusing.

Multiupload is gone for good. That's the resolution.
But, all the download links in the CF-Root thread are links to chainfire's own hosted site. Not a single download link in the CF-Root thread is to a multiupload site. (seriously. Not a one)
So are you looking at the right thread for CF-Root?

Flashing one of these kernels (looks like you'll want to use a KF4 kernel - I think there's only one on the page) will give you CWM recovery. Once you have this, try your CyanogenMod install again.
As always though, the best advice I can offer is to search, research, and read voraciously before doing anything that can possibly do irreparable harm to your phone.

I agree with everyone else. Show some proof or quit trying to get people to erase their internal storage. Funny how after someone asked for proof you ignored the question and kept trying to assure us everything was ok. On another note, no one should have taken this OTA who wasn't prepared to lose root and TWRP, but for those who did it to test for possible anti-rollback and know what they're doing, I salute you, you brave sons of *****es.

Once again, we need some proof here man. A few screenshots would really help people believe you on this as a lot of people have reported failure when attempting to downgrade. @autoprime has said that a few people have successfully downgraded, but many have also failed, so please post a guide with photos for proof so we can be sure that anti-rollback has not been fully implemented yet.

I haven't tried it, but many people have had success downgrading or obtaining root/twrp after the OTA. There is no procedure listed though, so read the thread closely and figure it out. The flash tool is acting finicky, that's all. Keep trying until it works.
It sounds like this issue is solved now.
