Fix SU request blank screen. - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Just followed the wonderful instructions from
"Sticky: [Walkthrough] From stock (1.5) to rooted 2.1
ivanmmj" Thanks!
After I was done and installed any root app it would request su access but the screen would be blank no choice to allow or deny.
If this happens to you do not freak out there are some simple solutions to try first
Turn on USB Debugging. Settings -> Applications -> Development
connect your Eris to your pc
Try running a root program it should prompt you with buttons now.
If you still have issues try running an ADB command and check for root again.
Hope this helps someone.

Turn on USB Debugging. Settings -> Applications -> Development
-->CHECK USB DEBUGGIN<--
Try running a root program it should prompt you with buttons now.
Fixed.

It should actually be in the FAQ or official guide.
EVERY TIME you flash something new, unless the ROM is specifically already set up (many will be),
you need to use adb to 'su'.
Plug in phone. USB Debug > On. USB > Charge Only.
adb shell
su
or ./adb shell
su
allow/allow always.
Done.

I am not sure if I am rooted!
How do I tell if I am rooted. I did a re-boot, and not much happened after that. Phone does says that storage is low! What does that mean. I don't know much about this Rooting!

[Q] How can i root my android device?

Hi all,
please tell me how can i root my android device without using of any other application like superoneclick or superuser.
i have sony xperia 10 mini
please help me for this.
thanks in advance.
Have you had a look in the x10 forums?
Why do you not want to use superoneclick? It makes life a lot easier. And superuser is an app that you install during the rooting process to give root apps root access to your phone, its pretty much essential.
And also worng section should be in x10 Q&A

When you connect your device to your pc, make sure you DO NOT select to mount it (or whatever term is used on your operating system)
and then, if you type on the command line:
adb devices
you should get a result with a device list
if you get no devices, then either you did not install adb, or the usb drivers properly
Follow this to find out if you installed adb properly

Kernal Version:2.6.35.10-perf
Version No.:GRI40
But when I finish this Job.I find my P-500 cann't rooting.

I already use GingerBreak v1.2 but it doesn't work.

from what i have read, you cannot root gingerbread (i may be wrong; however i have never seen anyone root official gingerbread before)
if you want to root your phone, consider downgrading your firmware to froyo (which can be rooted):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060121
i know it says "upgrade" but really it means upgrade from a previous froyo version. it is called downgrade for you since you are going from 2.3.x to 2.2.2
Thanks for your help.
I know this tip.But I want to know rooting this cellphone and no downgrade fireware.
can u tell me how to do this job.
thanks a lot

How to root LG Optimus One P500 on gingerbread 2.3.3
1. Be sure that you have installed the original V20 GB ROM
2. if you have it installed and tried different methods to root on it do a factory reset before trying this one
3. Be absolutely sure that you have all the phone-drivers installed when working with the phone in USB debugging mode, if not install them (http://www.mediafire.com/file/t3gvrb...ML_Ver_1.0.msi)
4. Download SuperOneClickv1.9.5-ShortFuse (http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...5&d=1307984755), after download extract the files into a folder with the same name as the archive.
5. After you extracted the files, go to C:\Windows\System32 and copy the cmd.exe to the folder where you extracted the files, in my case C:\Users\myuser\Desktop\SuperOneClickv1.9.5-ShortFuse\ADB.
6. Enter the phone settings menu, to the Development and tick the USB debugging mode. Connect the USB cable to the phone, wait until it recognizes it
7. right click on cmd.exe from the ADB folder, Run as administrator, than write:
adb devices
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf (do not close the window)
8. Leave the settings to the SuperOneClick as they are when it opens, click on ROOT and wait, it will say Starting ADB server..., than it will do it's job and than it will appear Waiting for device... it will say ok --- if it freezes while running psneuter do the following:
a. Turn USB Debugging OFF wait until it will appear in the window again Starting ADB server..., after that,
b. Turn USB Debugging ON, and after this trick it will start rooting.
Thanks for your help.
Now I already rooting.

[Q] Has anyone rooted Huawei M660?

Hello. I've looked all over the forums and was wondering if anyone has any info about rooting the Huawei Q M660. I've tried Doomlord, Superoneclick, Unlockroot, and z4root to no avail. There doesn't seem to be a forum for this phone and I was hoping I hadn't missed anything. Thanks in advance for any help that comes of this.

How TO Root Huawei Ascend Q
Thursday, June 14, 2012, 14:06uncategorizedAdd a comment
This is an updated method on how to root your Huawei Ascend Q.
First, you need the file hboot_2.xx_soff-V8.9.zip, download it.
Unzip it into c:evoroot on your pc.
Second, put your Huawei Ascend Q into development mode by going to Settings->Applications->Development and turn USB debugging on.
Third, connect your Huawei Ascend Q to your computer and set your USB to Just charge.
Fourth, if you get errors with drivers, install their HTC drivers. (You can also install HTC Sync, but it is bulky!)
Fifth, open up a command prompt by typing cmd.
Sixth, type the following commands: (Or copy and paste, easier!)
cd evoroot
adb push root/unrevoked-forever.zip /sdcard/
adb push root/mtd-eng.img /sdcard/
adb push pc36img/PC36IMG-ENG.zip /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip
adb push pc36img/PC36IMG-MR.zip /sdcard/PC36IMG-MR.zip
adb push root/flash_image /data/local/
adb -d install -r root/z4root.apk
Seventh, go to your phone and launch Z4Root app. Then select temp root and wait until its done.
Eighth,go back to command prompt and type:
adb shell
su
If you get a pound(#) sign, that means you have temp root, which just gives you temporary root so we can now install permanent root.
Ninth, lets backup our WiMax 4G RSA just in case we lose it during installation of new ROMs.
Type:
Mkdir /sdcard/nandroid/RSA-PR-BACKUP
Cat /dev/mtd/mtd0 > /sdcard/nandroid/RSA-PR-BACKUP/wimax.img
busybox sed -n /BEGIN CERTIFICATE/,$p /dev/mtd/mtd0 > /sdcard/rsa_OEM.key
Tenth, go back to command prompt and type the following:
chmod 0755 /data/local/flash_image
./data/local/flash_image misc /sdcard/mtd-eng.img
sync
And reboot to bootloader mode by typing:
reboot bootloader
When bootloader mode starts up, it will look for PC36IMG.zip and after about 3 minutes ask you if you want to install PC36IMG.zip.
Say Yes by hitting the volume up button, it should now install the new zip file, should take about 10 minutes. Go grabs some coffee and come back.
Eleventh, reboot when its done by hitting the volume up button.
It will reboot into the OS and we dont want that so takes the battery out and puts it back in it. Then go back to the bootloader by hitting the power button while holding down the volume down button.
Choose Bootloader and wait until you get the triangle sign and type:
adb push recovery /
adb shell busybox Cinstall /sbin
adb shell nohup /sbin/recovery &
Go back to your Huawei Ascend Q and you should see green menus.
Choose install zip from sd card and choose unrevoked-forever.zip
After that installs, Choose MS-USB
Go to your computer and delete PC36IMG.zip, then rename PC36IMG-MR.zip to PC36IMG.zip.
Then power off your Huawei Ascend Q, power back on by pressing Power Button while holding down the Volume Down button, this should get you back into bootloader mode.
Simply wait and when it asks to install the update, hit the Volume Up button.
then reboot your Huawei Ascend Q, your device should now be rooted with Recovery menu then you can flash new ROMs for Huawei Ascend Q.
No luck
I've been attempting to root my Ascend Q as well, and I tried this method, and I couldn't get past "adb push root/flash_image /data/local/" due to "Permission Denied" but from what I understand Z4 can't root any phone past like 2.2 so I doubt the legitimacy of this tutorial, I don't know if I'm missing something or what, but I have a basic knowledge of rooting and I've found the recovery mode for the Ascend Q (Hold Power and Volume Up when your phone is off) but I'm not sure what to do with that.
Anyone can provide any insight on where to go from here?
I've put my phone in debugging and downloaded the drivers.
I'm also looking for a solution to root this phone. Anyone figured this out? Thank you.
I am still also in need of a root method for my Ascend m660, and would be willing to donate to anyone who successfully does this! ^_^

[GUIDE] Root SM-J100VPP (Verizon) without ODIN [DEC 2017]

I have found a way to root the Samsung Galaxy J1 (SM-J100VPP, Verizon) without needing to flash modified, rooted firmware using ODIN. I do not know if this unlocks the bootloader. Maybe someone can reply with an answer.
1. Make sure ADB/USB debugging is turned on. Settings > about phone > tap on 'build number' seven times to enable developer options.
2. Tap back button once and tap developer options. Make sure the box next to 'USB Debugging' has a check mark.
3. Plug your phone into your PC and open up an ADB window.
4. Download and install the Hidden Menus APK attached to this post, located at the bottom of the thread. (If using ADB to install, place the APK in your ADB folder and open an ADB command window and type: adb install HiddenMenus.apk)
5. Open the Hidden Menus app and scroll until you see 'Rlz Debug UI' and tap on it.
6. Where it says 'OEM Mode', make sure 'on' is selected (tap the circle next to OEM Mode to turn it on).
7. Go to my Google Drive, download and install 'android_root.exe'. This will install an older version of KingoRoot onto your PC.
8. Open KingoRoot for PC and connect your phone to the PC.
9. At the very bottom, left corner of the KingoRoot for PC window, make sure to UNCHECK the box that says 'install recommended app'.
10. Click on root and let KingoRoot root your phone.
Replace KingoRoot with SuperSU
I don't like one-click-root apps. I don't trust them. So whenever possible, I try to find methods to install SuperSU. Below is a guide to replace KingoRoot with SuperSU. The method in this thread works and only consists of a few steps. First you'll need to go to the KingoRoot homepage and download the APK for Android and install it. Then follow the steps below:
1. Delete/Uninstall Kingouser, but keep Kingoroot. DON'T reboot your device
3. Install SuperSU apk from flashable zip v2.79 (APK provided by me, attached at the bottom of this thread).
4. Launch it, press "continue" and "normal" wait until the update is successful. (You might have to close the SuperSU app and reopen it to complete this step).
5. Reboot and uninstall Kingoroot.
Thanks everyone. I really love this little phone!
ok, so all that has happened here IS. you happened to have a samsung galaxy j1 sm-j100vpp verizon prepaid phone that happened to NEVER be updated to the unpatchable 5.1.1 and you rooted the existing firmware that we all have to downgrade to, to be able to root. And to answer your question about the boot loader.... NO, flashing or MODIFYING the firmware has nothing to do with the boot partition.
BUT. the super su replacement has caught my eye and is how i found this post. I will check the work and report back. this would be a huge step forward in creating a 32 bit custom twrp as the chipset in this phone only supports 32 bit and is why twrp (cwm similar etc....) does not work on this device. i have noticed another samsung device that has "alot" of the same chipsets but still supports 64 bit and has a promising twrp I may be able to compile as a 32 bit only recovery img. after that. its smooth sailing.

How to put Alcatel A564C into EDL mode Pop Icon

Hello.
This post describes how to reboot the Alcatel OneTouch Pop Icon A564C Yaris5NA into EDL mode. This can be achieved without root. It can happen on both Windows and Linux computers. It requires ADB to work.
1. Go into settings and "About phone" and tap the build number "01001" for about seven times.
2. Go into "Developer options" and enable "USB Debugging".
3. To install ADB drivers on Windows Vista, look for "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" on XDA and download extract and run the exe file. Do not forget to install Google drivers. On Linux, just install adb through terminal.
4. On Windows, go into "Device Manager" in Windows and look for "Android device" with a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. You may have two of these on your computer, so be sure to install drivers to both devices to avoid any error.
5. Right click on these devices and the menu appears hit "Update driver", than select browse my computer for drivers and eventually show all devices. Find the Google Inc. drivers and install one of three drivers; the "Android ADB interface" should work, but you may have to use the "Android Composite interface".
6. Go open CMD or Terminal and type adb devices. You will receive "Enable USB Debugging?" on your A564C phone so be sure to check the box and press Enable.
7. Now check adb connection by typing "adb devices", and the device should appear in the terminal; there should be letters and numbers on the left and authorized on the right.
8. Now type "adb reboot edl" to send the device into Emergency DownLoad mode. When you look on Windows a box appearing with QualComm HS-Loader 9000 (COM4) drivers will have installed. Look into Device Manager under ports (the serial cable icon)
Well, if you have this phone A564C and would like to develop on it, this guide may have motivated you to do make custom software. I think the only way to flash firmware is through QFIL program on Windows. Now we are looking for a FireHose programmer for the device in an attempt to unlock the bootloader the way the new ZTE method is described. My goal is to find the right FireHose programmer and to examine the partition manager and edit the bootloader to unlock it, or perhaps a way to somehow put the su binary in the /system/bin folder, or put a custom recovery on the device. That is my goal.
Here is my background on my device:
I have owned the Alcatel OneTouch Pop Icon A564C for over a year. I have read the posts describing many users who do not have enough space on their internal storage and that is why they need root. I have also read KingRoot can root but for me it is the opposite. I had tried rooting many times with the KingRoot. When the metre reaches a certain point, usually 18% or 70%, the phone crashes and reboots automatically or freezes and requires holding the power button to reboot. The phone is seemingly unable to root. Last week I acheived a true temp root that was lost upon reboot; the way I did it I installed KingRoot apks I downloaded from AndroidFileHost in order from oldest to newest, ran them once for reboot, then proceeded to uninstall each one and reinstall the newer KingRoot. I had noticed a phenomenon when using a newer KingRoot than going to KingRoot 4.1 I received root failed and it went back to 70% and I achieved temp root that way. I than restarted the phone in order to restart the method after a data wipe.
I then thought if there were other ways to root a phone other than using one-click rooting methods such as KingRoot. The phone was manufactured about six years ago, so it is old enough that exploits could potentially root it. I had tried Framaroot and Towelroot; both did not work. I installed a DirtyCow checker apk and it said the phone was patched, so I assume an exploit based on DirtyCow would not work. There may be one more method to finally allow root; it is called QuickRoot a Proof-of-Concept root for Android devices. It may work on older devices, but I do not know how to compile for Android 4.4.2.
