Temp. Internet files, how to clean memory? - TG01 General

Hey,
I have used WM phones before with software called MemMaid, but unfortunately it is not made for WM 6.5. It was handy to delite all temporary internet files etc and manage tasks with that programme. Therefore I wonder is there any other good programmes for deliting temp. internet files or what is the best way to do it? I use both IE and Skyfire on my TG01.
Thank you in advance!

I use mem maid 2.3 just fine with wm 6.5.

So do I. MemMaid 2.3 (Build 230) works perfectly under WM6.5 on TG01.
But it's true that only cleans IE Cache (Not Opera, NetFront, Skyfire, Iris Browser...)
I've not tested it yet, but my idea is writing a Mortscript script to delete all the cachés at the same time.
Best Regards

IE is in the default quick clean, opera and netfront can be added in settings.

I can't clean Opera and Netfront cachés with MemMaid (perhaps because both apps are installed in the SD card

Applications you can't do without!

What are some of the applications that you use frequently and without them your life would simply stop to be...
For me the most frequent applications I can't do without are:
MS Voice Commander - Whenever on the road this one has saved my life countless times.
SBSH Pocket Weather with VGA Icons, Awesome options allow me to configure this little thing to auto-download live radar maps so I know whenever there is a storm approaching etc.
Without those above apps I would simply be lost.
What apps would you not be able to do without?
bublebreaker....
Unless there is a very recent update the last time I tried to install sbsh pocket weather on a 6.1 rom it did not install. Anyone else had that problem? I am sure however that this will be resolved shortly.

I have no problem running SBSH Pocket weather on any 6.1 rom. I have it on my Athena running the WM6.1 rom ( i believe the XIP of this rom is WM6 though) I also have it running on my Kaiser, currently running a dutty rom, but have had no other problems running several Kaiser 6.1 rom... DId have a few minor issues running SPB Weather on 6.1
I*e never used that program. Is it freeware? If so anyone have a link? I'm currently using Radar Watch 2, nothing fancy, but get\ the job done. Its free, google it.
Flexmail, the beta of version 4 is very nice
Memory-map use it at work
opera/opera mini/netfront
logmein
I am not too sure
but I think I will vote for logmein, this allows me to do remote access of my desktop so I can use all the usual softwares there.
realVGA, that's an absolute must.
I think I depend a lot on Pocket Informant 2008
Adobe PDF LE
Softmaker: Text and Plan
Weatherpanel is the next best thing as well. Where i live, the weather is very emotional....Its good have an app that is sensitive!
MemMaid worth every cent they charge for it!!
PocketXpdf http://pocketxpdf.sourceforge.net/ is the best pdf viewer/reader and is freeware
PocketMind is great for organizing notes
Egress rss reader seems to be the most customizable

also LogMeIn, and realvga is a must.
but number one program for me, Mobipocket Ebook reader
Must haves
PhoneWeaver -> nessecary for switchig profiles automaticaly based on calender, time, etc.
Pocket Informant -> Pocket Outlook is unusable.
SPB Mobile shell 2.0 -> Easy way to use device and access your programs.
Cyberon -> for handsfree use of your little phone.
Memmaid -> for periodicaly cleaning up Microsofts mess in your phone.
QAN
I’ve Mobile Invoice in Athena, lately discovered only CooTek Cooperation TouchPal (VGA) works wonderful well together.
Pocket Informant save me the trouble to change from task to appointment and visa versa.
MemMaid and Spb Traveler, both are super aid to me.

UPDATE: Tested Ultra Lite, AP4, AP5 beta, IRUS Full/VANILLA: lessons and suggestions

First of all IMHO they have to be considered BETA, AP4 and IRUS are final Beta, and AP5 is a "Technical Preview" .
I've tested at 192 and 128 DPI and I use the ATHENA as "second" phone, mainly as "mobile computer". I am very happy with my DASH latest 6.1 ROM as empowered PHONE
Ultra Lite (Taxist)
Great rom, fast, stable. SPL 3.5
CONS
1) No quickgps
2) No subdisplay
3) No powerpoint
and some other small things
Fix needed: .NET fix (check thread)
Application /Utility Changed
File explorer.... resco file (needs registration)
Images browsing.... resco image (needs registration)
Media Player.... Coreplayer
Start menu.... Quickmenu
Task manager.... Wisbar Lite
SIP..... Vgakey
Comm Manger.... WM6.1 standard
I've added:
HTC home all DPI
Schaps Advanced Config
Xnview (image editor)
Tom Tom
Memmaid
My registred Resco File Manager
Opera 9 Diamond
PocketRAR
PocketCM
.NET fix (check thread)
PRO
1) First time with ozVGA, no problems with my commonly used application, more controls than realvga, no 128 DPI
2) Fastest rom ever seen for ATHENA, lot of storage and memory, a ROM for Professional User!
AP4:
CONS
1) Needs a "special SPL" (3.5), fully contained in the setup file
2) Slow, something to fix, read the thread and AP4 WIKI.
3) Low in Free RAM and resources
4) No way (till now, cmonex is working) to flash back to the HTC original ROM or AP2. AP3 special edition or IRUS SPL 3.5 are the only alternate rom available if you have SPL 3.5
PRO
WM6.1, a very fresh build
Vueflo, the accelerometer turns the screen portrait/landscape just rotating it
Many utilities
IRUS 6.1
CONS
1) opening contacts in 128 DPI you have a blank page, the same bug is in the AP5 beta
2) Older WM6.1 build
3) Needs "tuning": missing HSDPA Icon, date/time in the upper bar too big, powersave disabled for connections, windows media has to be started at 192 DPI, unchecked the option "start in library" and apply ATHENA PRoject windows media player fix, to have it working in all resolutions.
The easiest way to solve many registry fix is is to install schaps advanced config
4) small keyboard
PRO
FAST, faster than AP4, very "responsive", more free memory and system resources,
Doesn't need "special SPL", easy to flashback to the HTC original ROM
There are FULL, LITE, and VANILLA releases
AP5:
It isn't a REAL beta, many things aren't working, Pawel will fix, but in this stage is just a technical preview, slow and buggy, nice DIAMOND graphic.
Promishing... No evaluation
I AM USING...
IRUS LITE, (I don't need many of the full preinstalled appz) plus
Quickmenu 2.7 (rotate screen and MANY utilities, beautiful in 128 DPI)
WKTASK xxx73c (latest, best task manager)
Diamond Commanager (using large blue buttons)
Dinarsoft memmaid
HTC Audio manager
HTC Home all DPIs
Oziexplorer
PocketCM (+ registry tweak to set it as default contact application)
Opera 9 latest build
Pocket Rar
REAL VGA
Resco explorer 2007 (+registry and ftp add in)
Resco keyboard pro (VGA fingertouch Kb)
Schaps advanced config
Today agenda (home screen plugin for planning)
Tom Tom 6
Vjcandela
WM6 remote desktop
Fresh start: Program Memory: total 100,84, in use 37,48, free 63,36
YES, in my testing device I have SPL3.5 (is the only way to test AP4 and AP5)

I agree with you. I prefer stability of IRUS -vanilla in my case- but the bluetooth consumption (I have a mbw-150) is a problem.
Irus, could you have a look on this issue? I am not experencied and surely will say an stupid thing, but looks your bluetooth check more often the connection that ap5, and this could justify the high consume.
On the other side this bluetooth conection has more quality with your rom that ap5.
Nice job, irus!!!

sergiopi,
Thanks for a great preview, this helps a newbie like i am a lot.
Thanks again!
I think it is good to have comparisons such as this, it gives people an idea of things they can expect from the various roms available.
Cheers

Thanks, updated first post with Ultra Lite comments...
Sergiopi,
Good overview. I use my Athena to work from on the road for days at a time, so it sounds like Ultralight might be the way for me (currently still on AP3 waiting for the dust to settle on the 6.1 ROMs).
Have you tried Softmaker or Fring with Ultralight please?
Iscajames
Sergiopi,
This comparison table is very useful...thanks.
I have also just installed Ultra Lite and can say that while I have only been using it for a day I am very impressed. As you say it seems great for the power user. The speed is phenomenal and stability so far seems good. Program compatibility seems great...all the programs that I use seem to work perfectly.

No, but before checking any sw compatibility, install the .NET fix from the ultra lite thread
Resco explorer or Total Commandar is needed because some rom files have to be replaced. If you try to copy from activesync you will have "error copying file" because the ROM files are write protected
Download total commander, freeware, form here http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm

Assigning Vueflow to Netfront v3.5

Is there a way to assign vueflo to Netfront v3.5? I am sorry but IE and Opera are a pig compared to Netfront.
The only disadvantage being that Yahoo doesn't run on NF as it is not supported, but you can do the mobile version...

WM 6.5 with IE from 6.1

I just started using WM 6.5 and I like everything but the new IE. Is there any kitchen that will let me install 6.5 with the IE from 6.1, or let me install it without IE at all so I can use a 6.1 cab?
all u need to do is google ie toggle n it will bring up a lot of sites with the cab file,i also didn't like the new ie lol, also no need for a certain 6.1 cab its fot that purpose
A tad off topic, but why not just keep it?
IE on WM 6.5.1, 23053 Does all flash local!! It rocks! Yes slower than Skyfire, but it's native, I use 5 test sites with different levels of Java & Flash, & it does all of them!
Downside? No tabs yet.

I hate the layout, everyone is trying to make mobile web look like it does on a desktop, but since I don't have a 21" screen on my phone i have to scroll back and forth to read anything. In 6.1 a lot of websites didn't work right but at least I could read wikipedia.
using a kitchen you can omit the IE 6on6 files (i believe the packages are BROWSINGCORE and browsingie)
This will leave you with the IE 5 engine. Previously if you did that, some OS elements would not render properly (being dependant on the IE browser for display) but now MSFT has moved those bits to the seperate Webview and Riched20 packages, so I think it should be fine now.

Good to know. I was wondering what those new packages were. I've seen lots of requests for using WM6.5 and the old IE because it was just simple.

[REQUEST]A working Opera 9.7 TITANIUM Plugin

Hello my wonderful community!
Recently I've switched from the old WM 6.1 to the WM 6.5 and I must admit I'm lovin the Titanium interface. Its even more usable for me than the new Manilas. But theres only one thing missing. A Titanium plugin displaying Opera bookmarks. Now I know there was Showaco's plugin for this but it doesnt work with the new Opera 9.7 as the file which stored the bookmarks for Opera seems to be gone. So my humble request... would anyone be interrested in developing a new plugin which works with the new opera? Even if its impossible to read the bookmarks from Opera or Manila, even manual adding of bookmarks for example would also do the job right? Thix for reading

I recall there is a thread with an opera fix to fix that bookmarks issue on new opera versions, and then use the existing OperaFav plugin

Saw that fix, tried it... doesn't work:/
By the way I'm shocked to see that the developement of plugins for Titanium has stopped... Doesnt anyone appreciate it anymore?

The fix worked for me. There are still new plugins coming out, like Playit, Speeddial or AppLauncher or JMLLauncher etc. Also JML is expanding his Today plugin to incorporate more information. Of course there not many new plugins anymore as this has been saturated and almost everything has been covered, so there is not anymore so much need.

Yes and no
I think we are only at the beginning, what's possible with Titanium (it's too much undocumented - only with the findouts which comes more and more, we get more)
Look at TouchFlo: How much "Panels" do you have? 10,12?
In Titanium there are almost 30 Plugins available - some are old, some are newer.
And I must admit - I would have ideas fo 10 more Plugins, which are not available, like writing SMS direct in Titanium, looking TV-Panel, Radio-Panel, ... and much more. And I think there are much more people here, who have ideas and could make a new Plugin.
And you could invent for each application with less or more effort a Plugin to control it or to use it - so it's almost unlimited.
Unfortunately some of the first Pioneers seems to have no more time - like Showaco or AppStar. And therefore there was a little stop 3-4month before - but no more now, I think.
But the most of the Plugins must get interactive - that's the new way to develop 'em. The must communicate with each other. The must be skinable and must get new Skins.
With JMLPanex/JMLGoto they have working Buttons and you can jump around in Titanium. You can "interact"
Contables Plugins uses this, Chris makes a great Sense Theme, and with TICS_installer it's now possible to install each Plugin to each Theme - also Bliss,Neo,Win7,SPlugins,...
And only to mention a new version with much more possibilities (Calendar for x days now possible, SMS,...) is the new JMLToday 5.5 from todays release:

Hey - Titanium is only at the Beginning - the official Release of WinMo 6.5 was... ? (Oct'09)

simply edit the first line of opera9.mscr file to read
Code:
opera = "\windows\Opera9\Profile\opera6.adr"
that is all that is needed to make it work reading bookmarks. may need to edit the path to the opera exe for the launcher if it is not in the default \windows\operal.exe
