[Q] Grooveshark?! - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have anyone managed to install grooveshark for x10?
can't find it on the market for some weird reason.
and adding the apk to my sd card and installing it inside of the phone doesn't work either.

Hi,
I couldn't get it in the market either (Dominican Republic SIM Card, Generic phone and software)
I downloaded via the browser and installed it. It works
-Jeff

i searched for "grooveshark" and i found it.

Alright!
ye I found it now aswell
it wasn't there some time ago tho, so i downloaded it via the web.
thanks for info!

I haven't tried comparing them, but the X10 does come with TrackID pre-installed, which functions in a similar manner.

got it and working very well , rogers canada here

+1 for searching for it and downloading direct from market, on Rogers in Canada. Works like a dream. I love Grooveshark!

android market problem

why i can not download from market?
it is too bad !
plz someone tell me!
I don't know what exacly you mean, but i have problems with it lately aswell!
The download doesn't start... it say's it starting but it does not! i fixed it a couple of times by closing the market and starting it up again and then go with the menu button to my downloads... and suddenly it started downloading again!
dunno what it is... maybe someone here knows!
I have the same problem, I've tried everything, but still no luck
Same here.
I'm on Dutch Vodafone.
It seems there is a problem with a proxy something on the dutch vodafone service, i'm on it as well, but that doesn't give a explaination why the market isn't working on wifi!
Just use Market Enabler (download from google code) and fake your provider to o2 germany. This way I can download paid applications in Greece It will fix your problem
Can't download anything in the UK either. Been like this since last night.
Fixed it now, cleared the cache for google apps and market.
Talked to Vodafone customer Service. Ita a worldwide problem. Google is working on it, according to the Android blogs.
Hi all, one thing I read and it works for me: sign into Google chat to make the downloads work. Then you can just sign out.
I'm not saying it will work for you, but it seems to let me download as soon as I sign in google chat.
Ugh..double posted from my hero...
hello friends
i think my problem is a little different from yours.
when i click on market icon and then click on applications nothing will happen.
after 2 minutes of waiting it says that : " there is a problem with signing in with your google account " or sth like that!
is it your problem like mine? because i have bought hero newly and never couldn't download any program. neither no market connecting!
if it is a general problem tell me.
thanks!!

I have been facing the same problem. I keep getting a message that there is no data sim card in the device (although there is, plus I was trying to connect via wi-fi) and so I can't sign in. I have never downloaded an app from the Market before. All seems to work great on my HTC Magic, though.

This is just crazy! I wiped, installed, wiped, installed, cleared all partitions/sd, installed, wiped, installed and still wasn't able to download anything. As soon as I started google talk all downloads came rolling in!
Thanks for the tip! You really made my day.
I talked again to Vodafone Netherlands.
A definitive solution is:
After seting up or signing in and using Market via WIFI, the market keeps working on 3G.
After a ROM update etc. you have to make the first contact by WIFI.
Google is working on the issue.

Some apps not showing in marked

I've got a mini pro, but I guess this issue is the same on x10 mini.
On my G1 I had a few "must have" programs installed, but after swithcing to the X10 mini pro, a couple of these does not show up at all. I checked on my old G1 with Android 1.6, and they do show up there.
Is this a screen resolution issue? Very annoying

what are you looking for then i will try to find it and upload somewere
Hmm. Havent thought about getting them from my G1. I'll see if I'll try that.
I have now found other programs that helps me out so far. The most annoying loss was a small weather app/widget that shows forecasts from a norwegian weather-site "yr.no". For now I have made a shortcut to their mobile website, so it's not too bad. But I miss the widget...
Another thing that I find a bit sad is that I do not know what apps I could have found if they all showed up in marked. Maybe it exists better ones than I can find. I have looked a bit on appbrain, but even if I find it there, I can not install it. I mean, if it does not show up in marked, but I find it on appbrain, I still can not install it using appbrain.
You can install it, download the APK file and run with a file manager, like Astro. Enable 3rd party app support first from the settings, on my blog I got a step by step on that.
Btw thanks, I didn't know about appbrain until now
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
Yeah, I have installed APK's before (downloaded pay-apps which is not available in market in Norway ).
Now I found a huge pack of programs for android, and found a couple that I wanted to try out which I could not find in market. What I have learned so far is that the graphics is beging downscaled and that makes some programs (games...) look bad. But they do work.

[Q] Barnacle Wifi Tether

Hey guys. I made a mistake, here is what happened. I had ROOTed my phone a while ago and downloaded Barnacle. It was working flawlessly. My phone started acting up so i had thought to exchange the phone for another one, so i unrooted it and removed all the rooted apps i had on it. I didnt exchange the phone because it isnt giving me random reboots and the battery isnt getting really really hot when what i think its charging but it really isnt. I decided to keep it obviously and i just rooted right now. I go to download Barnacle from the market site and i am not allowed to click on my device that i have listed because "this app isnt allowed by my carrier" or something along those lines. Is there a way i can still get this app??
Thanks in advanced
From market, search and install "Market Enabler". Use that to change your market region to Telstra (Australia). Now you can search in market for Barnacle and be able download/install it. After that, revert back to your original market region with market enabler.
Thank you VERY much sir. Worked perfect. So what else can i do with this Market Enabler app?
Glad that it worked
I have no idea what else you can do with it since this was the only reason I used that for myself. Basically if AT&T removes a particular program from their market, you can search for other providers' market with this app and install the program.

Just wanted to throw this out there. With a lot of apps made for rooted phones you can usually download the apk right from their respective websites onto your phone and use the built in file manager to install them. That's how I got Barnacle anyways.

Well, here's the thing. If it's not already listed as a compatible app for your phone than it won't link to the market regardless. It would work just as well to check the website probably once a month for updates, just as you would have to do with the market enabler. But if you use the website, you could get your hands on some beta versions ahead of time.

But I digress, it's really up to the user what they want to do. I was merely just pointing out a different option.
Thanks, I learned something today
I used market enabler method because I though it would update automatically, which apparently isn't the case.

Well, I'm not entirely sure if you can just switch providers to enable updates through the market but I would assume it would still need to be done manually.
I just loaded it from the Barnacle site, which worked well...
Ditto, Thank you for this thread... I was looking for a good wifi tethering app. Now if only AT&T could get their act together.
Anyone using this app got a letter or text from ATT?

[Q] Market from firefox browser error

Hey guys, I've searched around and didn't find out an aswer to this...
You're aware that we can access the Market through Firefox/IE and download the apps directly to the moblie phone, right? Of course...
I had not tweaked my X10 until this weekend, I was able to do the downloading from browser thing with no problems. Then, I start usin Cyanogen 6.1.3 Gingerbread, from rendero, and the web-based Market do not recognize my cell anymore, already logged out and logged in again, had tried many different procedures and the thing just doesn't work.
Any ideas? Ty
EDIT1: yes, I use the same account logging from cell and from web-based market. The 3 possible errors the 'web-market' (let's call it this way) I've already checked and it's none of them. The 'cell-market' is working just fine.
Anybody?

[Q] Missing Apps in Market?

Been looking on other forums for this, but to no avail...
Was looking for:
Pulse Reader
Team Coco
Lopez Tonight
and honestly, I just forgot to write them down... I was going to sideload them if I had too, but I thought about Appbrain ( which works ).
I cleared the market cache in settings and rebooted, still didn't work. Any ideas?
I was about to start exactly the same thread. I can't install most of the popular apps on my Flyer. No Raging Thunder, no NFS Shift, no Dolphin Browser... It seems nothing is compatible with my device. Android web market says "This item is not compatible with your device HTC Flyer P512".
Anyone experiencing the same? I'm living in Turkey, is this happening because of a regional restriction?
I did a full wipe of the device and still noticed things missing afterwards in the market.
Appbrain (which is a great little app ) and Appbrain.com seem to have allowed me to get -most- of what I can't find in the market by searching. Wierd eh?
This is honestly not what I was expecting since I had the Xoom and wanted a smaller form factor to use daily.

is not only your case....also here! I just have some saved application from the previous Galaxy Tab backup, and I installed. some are working, some not....but regarding Market, same story. Wait for root access, and then will be able to install Market Enabler, in order to fake our location....

Thought that Market Enabler would only work with cell connected devices? And since ours is wifi only, it sees our source IP and blocks it?
edit: nevermind I see you have a 3G Flyer
I run into this problem as well on mine, so I just download on my DInc2, use Astro to backup and push it to a folder on my dropbox, and load from there....have done quite a few apps that way.
Convoluted, but it works

Honestly, I am baffled the devs haven't rooted this yet. I didn't get the vibe that HTC products were difficult considering how fast root is achieved on HTC phones. Totally different I suppose?

So this is not a technical limitation but a regional one. But why? I can't see the reason.

Most of the unavailable software are listed in HTC Likes app, but when I try to install, it says "The requested item could not be found".
Same goes for me. I can find the apps I'm looking for (mainly Google Voice) in appbrain, but when I try to install, the item cannot be found in the market, like when I search for them there... Really doesn't make any sense (pun intended). I can't get HTC likes to work for some reason, either... Different thread for that, though...

Good news: some titles have started to appear on the market.
