Live wallpapers on non-rooted phone - Droid Eris General

Before anyone says anything, yes I HAVE searched the forums and have read most of it. And it doesn't sound good
Anyway, I just wanted to know how hard it would be for someone to get live wallpapers working on a non-rooted 2.1 leak device. Or if it's even possible. Whenever summer rolls around and I'm out of school I'll study up on Android and see if I can't help out some devs.

You can't do it. Need root. Nuff said...

[Q] Rooting "A shot in the dark"

Have been reading any and all Rooting Posts and I have come to the conclusion that as of now, Most, if not all of the Rooting techniques are a shot in the dark.
If there is one good way that is reliable and doesn't screw up one thing or another than I have not seen it.
Example......Superoneclick....works on one phone but not the next....Roms....need more fixes to get to work than Microsoft.....
Tell me is there a proven way to unlock the bootloader, Root the phone and get Gingerbread to work fully ?
I may be new to this site and believe me I would love to have a open phone....But I have other things to do than F around trying to get a already KickAss phone to work.....Just saying....

you need to do more reading, no one uses superoneclick for the atrix... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1165791
Read the stickies..
Have you ever opened the android dev section?
Almost everything is in the sticky thread of clown.. With faqs guides etc..
Unlock your bootloader depending what atrix you have(att or international), then install the tenfars port of CWM4, and then you can root using the CWM root method..

To build on your Microsoft comment...............Some software is not compatible with all versions of Windows. The Atrix came out with Windows 95, has made it to XP, and with GB will be Windows 7. If you are not happy with the devs work, what they have done for everyone, and can't filter through the threads to get what you want, maybe you should get an iPhone and stick Cydia on it!......Or get a Windows phone because you won't have to "fix" anything on it!
If you want help, then you have started out the wrong way. Your post needs to be objective, and not flaming all the work others have done because you can't implement any of it, and are confused.
Root, ROM's, etc., do not need a bunch of fixes............you just have to READ so you know which ones work together for what you want. If you had actually taken the time, you would know that the bootloader has been unlocked, root is working, and GB is awesome. You just have to check the instructions for what you want on your Atrix, whether it be AT&T, Orange, Bell, etc.
Personally, I am on an AT&T Atrix 4G with unlocked bootloader, rooted, with GB 4.5.91, and have absolutely no complaints ot problems!
Since you don't want to F around, watch that door................it's heavy and swings closed fast.........wouldn't want it to hit you between the buttocks on the way out!
Bell ATRIX, unlocked bootloader, rooted, running 2.3.4. No problems

Recent Android Market Update on jailbroken Galaxy S II

Hey everyone, sorry if this was already asked, but I couldnt find anything after searching both on XDA and elsewhere on the intertubes. I'm new to this phone, and havent used Android in over a year, so I am a little rusty.
About 10 days ago, an update to the Android market took place, giving it access to books and movies. What is the best way to get this updated version of the market on my phone without loosing my jailbreak? If anyone could help, or give me some insight it would be greatly appreciated.
- JKDEM
Wait, till the updates roll out everywhere gradually. No point in jumping for a leaked version.
Besides, have you seen how many people are keen to go back to the old market? Lol.
Regards.

Usually when i hear that word "jailbroken" it's people talking about iPhones, do you mean unlocked to all networks or something else?
Lol your right i meant rooted. I guess you can see what platform i came from!
You will find the market update has been posted on the forum .

Galaxy SII SGH-S959G Updates???

I know there probably are like 50 other threads of people asking the same thing, I've looked through a LOT of them, none of them actually tell me anything useful I want to hear. So, as the Title says, I'd love to know if there is actually any type of update, or way to update the phone to ICS or JB... A lot of people keep saying no, but some others are certain there is a way, I've found a couple of root options, but they all seem shady. If anyone knows how to work out this phone, to get a higher version of Android, I'd appreciate it, if the need to root happens, then some advice about it would be appreciated...
Phone: GSII SGH-S959G from Straight Talk.
Thank you
I have the same phone and been looking for a ICS rom for it, no luck so far. I did root mine and mod the original rom just fine. Over all it didn't add anything to it but I wanted to use the titanim backup app and others who need root. I know straighttalk phones are always a little behind others sold by att and bigger companies, so maybe someone will come up with a rom soon. May check cyogenMod see if they support it.

Yeah I've seen that not everyone put time into Straighttalk phones, and so far there is still nothing. I won't lose hope though!
I don't think you are in the right thread:

[Q] [PROBLEM] Downgrade android

Hello everyone!
So i just registered cuz im seeing alot of activity over here, cuz i could really use some help.
So recently i bought a tablet, it was a **** tablet that i just need for home, to watch movies on, it server its purpose.
The problem is that jellybean doesnt really fit to my standards, i used to have gingerbread (2.3.6) on my old phone, and im really used to it.
Besides, i find jellybean alot more laggier, but then again it might just be the device itself. I constantly keep getting errors and lags, i can cope with that but ALL my apps crash all the time, its just annoying. So i've been browsing the good ol' google on how to downgrade it for 4.2 to 2.3 and all i get is samsung ****, samsung this, samsung that, i dont wanna use samsung updates, might aswell brick my tablet eh? I dont think so.
So here i am, begging for your help PLEASE help me downgrade this cuz im really close to throwing this thing against the wall :/
I just want a clean downgrade to gingerbread nothing else, i dont care about rooting, maybe in the future, if i cant root it its ok, if i can even better.
Just please help me downgrade this thing >.>
The device is of Italian blood, its called BeeX S1, its really an unknown maker, so yeah.
Anyways, thanks in advance guys ;D
P.S. if you could put a reply on the thread, becouse i think i turned off PMs, and just for the sake of simplicity
Sorry man.. Looks like your tablet came preloaded with Android 4.2 and was actually released in the market with jellybean.. So unfortunately u won't find any gingerbread for this.. Even if some people may be able to port it, no one will becoz no 1 generally downgrades their device.. So hard luck for u.. In short u can't have gingerbread for your tablet unless u get extremely lucky..

[Q] Need help to root an LG Splendor. Don't know where to start

Hello,
This is my first time posting here, so please excuse me if I'm posting in the wrong place..
I had an LG Splendor (US730), android version 4.0.4, which I believe is ice cream sandwich. I had this through US Cellular, but after moving on to Verizon and getting an HTC, I gave this phone to my granddaughter. She uses it on WiFi to play games and stuff, there is no cell service connected to it. She is running into the problem now of not being able download games, etc. that she wants because the android version is too old.
I asked LG if there was an update from them that could get this phone to hopefully kitkat so it would be usable for at least awhile longer and they said no, it can only go to ice cream sandwich. She is only 11, my son and I don't want her to have a "real" phone yet.
So, I have been researching rooting and I think if I could figure this out, I probably could do it. I am fairly computer savvy, but not phone savvy. Everywhere I read, leads me to a download in the forums here from Bin4ry, but this specific phone is not listed in the compatible devices for this. I have read in other forums of a few people who tried it and it didn't work, so I am asking you experts here, is there somewhere I can find a way to root this phone so that we can upgrade the android version?
I am somewhat confused as to all the lingo involved in rooting, I understand the basic theory, but roms, etc. , I still haven't quite figured that stuff out. But if I did know I could fix this phone, I can learn it, I just want to be able to do it right. The last thing in the world I want to do is end up ruining her phone because she loves it.
I have hit a couple websites with step by step instructions for this rooting this exact phone, but I don't even know if I can trust random website instructions. So, because you guys seem to be the "go to" place for help I am asking here for help.
Thanks in advance, any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
