Multi touch on resistive screens - TG01 General

Check out xda's frontpage, i cant post links but check it out !
Does this mean we'll eventually be able to have multi touch on our tg01's ?

possible
but it may cost a bit time

I doubt it as the multi touch needs slightly different HARDWARE.
http://www.symbian-freak.com/news/010/01/resistive_multi_touch_screen_microcontroller.htm

I believe the TG01 is compatible with the stated hardware and software requirements, but you need to be aware that its dual-touch not proper multi-touch so there are several important limitations.
Also, it will only work with apps that are designed to use it (of which there are none currently).

can any1 please post a link here to enlighten me so I know what are you all talking about?
many thanks!

Neon400 Consolidated Thread (Deserving of a Sticky?)

PLEASE STICKY THIS!
The purpose of this thread is to consolidate all software, roms, and information on the HTC Touch Dual Neon400.
The Neon400 was released as the CDMA version of the Touch Dual in Canada to Bell and Telus exclusively thus far. At this point in time this exact model is ONLY available in canada to Telus Mobility and Bell Mobility clients.
The Neon400 sports some MAJOR changes to previous Neons and the Niki. Inside it actually has more in common with the HTC Touch Diamond than a traditional Touch Dual (Nike). The specs are as follows:
Qualcomm MSM7501A 528mhz Processor (Same as Diamond)
ROM-capacity: 256 MiB (Same as traditional Nikes)
RAM-capacity: 160 MiB (Higher than Nike, Lower than Diamond)
Full GPS Capability
Same GPU / Graphics capability as Diamond (Altho no 3d interface software provided)
Rumored to have Wifi (neither provider has the drivers/wifi enabled if that is the case).
Both Telus and Bell ship the phone with WM 6.1 Pro as an OS.
Because of the limited availablity of the Neon400, and the vastly different specs, and the fact that it has only been available since Sept. 2008. There is next to none (I have yet to find any) software or rom flashes/upgrades available.
This thread serves as a place for the few of us who have Neon400's to test out new ideas, share modding experiences, give, and receive advice.
Few of my questions right off the top:
Will the previously established methods for unlocking Nike's work for this model? (anyone yet tested?)
Are there any TESTED and COMPATIBLE Roms that work on the Neon400 thus far?
Is anyone currently working on the above projects?
Thank you and Welcome Neon400 users! Lets take advantage of the extra horse power in our HTC Nike's and get things rolling!
instead of neon400, how about all neons? i have the neon300, all pretty much the same (of what you can install on it)
I just got my Neon400 a couple weeks back.
Hopefully we can get some ROM's going for this....the battery life is killin' me!

They already have roms for the Neon
I'm trying to post more in these forums to show support for this phone. The other Neon ROMs may work for this phone, but nobody knows because we can't unlock the damn thing.
Is there any info on how to develop HardSPLs for phones?
i two just bought a Telus Neon400 and i found that yes it is vary buggy like when i finish a call it like freezes for a bit then its fine
it lags alot eats up mad batterie life i just want to be able to unlock it and install anew rom something that has far less bugs in it ,we need more sopport

Always use the top search option to find answers : ) Very easy. This is for the Neon
Unfortunately this method doesn't work for the Neon 400. I should know, I tried. The screen turns black and you need the reset the phone.
So,no, the top search option doesn't work here.
yep i bid we should set upsomething like payment for someone who makes a hacked spl for this phone im willing to pay im sick of the bugs i really liked the touch so much sopport but for this one nothing there has to be someone out there that casn do this

You would think it would have to be somebody who has access to the phone. Since nobody else but Canadians can use it, I don't think there's much hope that any of the regular SPL writers would be able to do it.
I hope I'm wrong though. I've tried to PM Olipro asking for help, but to no avail.
We're seeking into this issue. If anyone got an original (shipped) rom for neon400, let me know.
Cya,
Viper BJK
I was able to extract the .raw files from my Telus "Neon", using the Kaiser tutorials, if this helps? I didn't know what to do beyond that...

I'm unsure if one exists. At least, I can't find one on any of the sites (bell.ca, telus.com, pdcphones.com, htc.come etc). I also heard from the Telus salesman that the phone is being discontinued. That's bad for updates. I don't know about Bell.
need HARDspl
if there is one its for the jap version of the neon400 dont know what good that would do
and as for updates htc site would have them if telus would not right it only makes sence
is there a way to extract the rom off my phone ?
neon 400's are also available in Gsm quad band not just cdma.

Toshiba IS02

OLED in upcoming models.
Tg01 will have a perfect driver combination after this release. Due to similar hardware concept. If ported.
Hope we might get a branded wm6.5.3 ROM in mere future.
lmao adding querty , and being even thinner
adding an 4.1 OLED screen despite the tg01 tg02 k01 all have the same 4.1 non OLED screen
.... dont believe everything , use common sense please ....
I believe it will be called K01 internationally. IS02 is an au KDDI name.

told ya ..
K01 is 7inches. this should probably be tg02. but any how the UI is bettr in the pic. this can be ported to tg01. That is my idea. we can get all negatives rectified by porting wht all we wanted like radio OS ui n many more. Definetly they would have rectified n improved all defects errors mainly battery drivers. its wm6.5.3 were grphics should be the size of our tgo1 4.1inches.
Day by day our tg is becoming stronger n stronger. lot of chefs to cook better roms, port anything maximum we need.
Due to the failure kinda image to tg01 made them chng name to iso2.
which companies product r these n which going to rule out.

I just bought this phone in Japan. It is running WM 6.5.3 Pro, Japanese edition. This is my first smartphone and am reading threads on this site to educate myself. My first question, will the KG01 ROMs work on this phone?
Kindly post your today and start menu screenshot. thank you.

It's definitely WM 6.5.3. Back to my question though, does anyone know if the ROMs here will work?

I'll go ahead and apologize if I ask any dumb questions. I'm a Windows desktop and server guy but this is my first go with mobile devices.
A good article I found that goes into the differences:

its not a dumb question , i wish i could answer it , but i dont have a x02t (chin?) or t01a (jap) version of the toshiba , but i think it will be the same situation as those devices versus the tg01
u should read up on those in the rom section for info ...
also how much did u pay for it ?
60000 yen (about $600 US dollars)

you neednt apologize. your information is very important for us you have done great job by posting these images. your rom is worth, stay with it, dont try anything else unless u get one or a need, your rom contribution will be useful for chefs who cook romz for tg01.
UI of your phone is sleek n worth a try.

from the article, here goes
There's nothing remarkable about them that was not there when the TG01 was released in June last year. A capacitive touchscreen updated the TG01 and the AMOLED Capacitive display and QWERTY sliding keyboard as well a more capable 3D user interface are the only things differentiating the K01.
Its time for the chef to think about cooking k01 rom for tg01.

[Q] full hdmi out or mirroring to tv for dell streak 5

i don't know why no body interested in getting streak to do full mirroring or to make full output possible . it's amazing device with unique design .can any body tell why there is no developer want to do that for the streak. is it impossible ? is it matter of money ?
what is more important than this update.
thank you if you could please just tell me WHY
Peterin.... I feel your pain and have pondered this same conundrum myself.... It would appear that, at least among developers, it's a much, much bigger priority to develop sort-of-flakey, non-standard ROMS that will give the Streak a millinanosecond faster clock speed, and then call for an "all hands on deck" SoS to try and get all other developers to fix the bugs in the aforementioned ROM....
Lower priorities are assigned to things that the Streak is actually supposed to do out of the box. I actually read, on this very site, someone had developed a ROM that would enable an HTC product to run at twice the rated processor clock speed without completely draining the battery in the first hour of use..... now the actual phone radio would no longer work, but that seemed like a minor annoyance.... INCREDIBLE!! Brings to mind something I hear on occasion, "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play"?

Someone can correct me if i am wrong, but HDMI functionality has been broken since the official Froyo 2.1 release of Android for the Streak.

I would guess it's because nobody spent the money on the $40 home dock... or: nobody is using the puny 32 GB of SD card space on movies... and since there's no reliable app for streaming video from home PCs to phone, we're better off plugging our computers into TVs for now.
I'm also curious? Did dell break their own phone's functionality with an update?

if you'd bothered searching, you'd find out that this exact thing has been questioned many times and its just not possible with the Streak's chipset. It can stream video with the stock roxio player and dock, but full mirroring is, sadly, not possible
thanks
Thank you guys for answering my question but i have to say i'm just disappointed, there is no solution for this issue i searched many sites but unfortunately no come out .thanks any way i'm sad for this
I found this cable: http://focuslink.en.alibaba.com/pro...le_Digital_Media_Interface_to_HDMI_cable.html
maybe direct mirroring possibilities!!!!
The cable doesnt matter at all as it's basically the multimedia dock but turned into a cable.
The S5 can only currently output video and audio though the stock gallery and music player respectively.

[Q] MTK6589 Compatibility

Hi guys, after spending ages clicking around, and not being able to find my answer, (I don't know, maybe I am just really, really thick) I was wondering if anyone would know which models of phone with the MTK6589 mainboard are interchangeable. That is, i have read about how many phones with these boards are aesthetically different, however contain the same camera and screen and what not. I was wondering, therefore, if there were any custom ROMs out there that would work with my POMP W89, that perhaps don't explicitly mention being compatible with this phone. I have things ready to go to port my own firmware to it, but I was wondering if perhaps someone already had?

[Q] Is it possible to port a manufacturer Rom?

Hallo guys,
So first of all, I know "why didn't you bought the hardware from the manufacturer you like" blabla. I love the S6E but what I also love is the HTC software. So my question, is IT eventually possible to port completly a manufacturer Rom?
I found some Tutorials and also trying them out right now. But have also some concerns about a hardbrick or eventually a complete phone kill. How possible might this scenario be? If we assume I port everything properly?
Thanks in advance :good:

Hi seitzik
Thanks for asking.
There are some software portions you won't be able to handle as they intensively interact with the hardware you have, which harware itself isn't portable
Modem & Booloader you probably wont be able to mess with in anyway.
Recovery & Kernel can be customized indeed but not as far as from an alien Manufacturer.
EDIT: The above pieces of software are the ones that could lead to a brick so be careful.
What leaves you with System ( / <- root and forward). Within system there are a LOT (I mean it ... a lot) of binary libraries that interact directly with devices sensors and their absence would, at least, disable its functions.
The other way around would be true ... HTC apps would require their own libraries that would not find the associated hardware necessary to work properly.
IMHO, seems I huge and painful endeavour.
EDIT: if one were interested in the looks of HTC, there are some launchers over there that could bring it closer to you.
But, as it seems, you already dressed XDA T-Shrit "DIY" and, as so, please keep us updated.
Have fun.
.
Thank you very much for your reply!
