is my battery gonna die soon ? - Touch HD Accessories

hello all ... since it's my first thread , i am a little (more) noob ... my battery lasts a day and a half , and i noticed something strange: 100% to 50% lasts about 24 hours , and the remaining 50% less than 12 hours. in this case phone's usage is: about 1 hour web browsing via data , 1 hour phonecalls , few pics and 15 minutes of bubble breaker . i currently flashed energy rom titanium and using with spb mobileshell 3.5 and 1.17 radio . what do u think ? should i buy an 1500mAh Mugen battery? some people said that they get 3 days battery life with the same config and stock battery 1350mAh .....

Did you make sure you manage your connections (3G, WiFi, bluetooth...) properly, means they are only active when you use it.
Other than that, screen brightness setting, custom rom makes some differences too.
For me, a day and a half of battery (stock) isn't bad (ok usage). If you stream a lot (youtube), probably last a day or less.
I'm on Topix with WM 6.5 BTW

yeah .. my connections activate just when i need ( browsing or streaming ) , i set them with hd tweak and an utility that comes preinstalled with energy rom ... i checked them all including power saving mode ... it's a bit strange because the battery discharge from 50%-0% is about double than 100%-50% ... and there would be another argument : i read a battery test comparison with lots of other smartphones ( iphone , xperia x1 , etc) and , HD managed to get best score about 120 hours of standby including 50mb download , 1 hour of phonecalls , and some sms/email checking/sending .... but it seems that my HD is faaar from that ...... is there someone that is currently on 1500mAh battery ? is it worth ?

Try another radio version ( may be 1.14 or 1.12 )
but if you want a really long life battery , just install WM6.1

Hmmm, I have simillar situation.
But my 3G is almost always on, I use BT for 30 min a day (car handsfree), I read e-book for at least 30 min a day (MobyPocket, very battery hungry), about 15 min a day web.
Your radio 1.17 is more battery hungry than 1.14 I'm using...

Hows ur BATTERY LIFE in YOUR present WM6 ROM?

Please POST your battery life in each ROM you installed? lets monitor in each pagepool and each AKU. *Note-i hope in each ROM, you install the same program that you have*
WM6 6mbpagepool AKU 0.7= my batt life is only 1 day
WM6 BETAversion AKU0.7= my batt life is 2 days
WM5 AKU3.3.3 = my batt life is 1-2 days
normal calls a day 20 calls 2min/percall
Telstra JAJAM LIfe
Hi. JASJAM Telstra Australia was:
WM5 - Radio 1.38.00.10 -- Battery generally flat by end of work day about 4hrs calls per day & activesync to Exchange server every 1/2 hour
WM6 Black satin, Radio 1,51.00.10 - Battery flat by/before lunchtime.. Cant get to end of day , even if charging when in the car with usb charger /lead.
I think I need to fix my proper imate car charger (lead broke) as it appears to charge faster when some of the extra pins in the miniusb connector are shorted to (ground?) & this is not done when using generic USB charger & a lead.
I dont know whether its a "feature" of WM6, but when the device syncs now, I see an extra 3G or H icon appear (tiny) next to signal strength indicator & it stays there unless you press & hold "hang up" If data acess remains on, that would make the battery life suck obviously... I wonder if it can be made to cut off after x minutes? I realise this is unrelated, but I have also been experienceing a failure of the windows "Start" icon & key on today screen after using the phone a couple of times & making notes in a call.
I will downgrade to Radio 1.50.00.00 I think & try it. But there were some posts about only versions ending in .10 working in some places ??
8Meg Pool WM5 AKU 3.3F - 4-5% lost overnight (8hours)
4Meg Pool WM6 AKU 6.0 - 25% lost overnight (8hours)
The only software I install is PA for both device. I going to revert back to WM5 as I had monitor WM6 AKU 6.0 for 2 days and I had been getting 25% lost each night.
well now using 4mb page pool... also having 25% lost overnight.... only install HTC home n iLauncher....
good that ur posting here the important thing like this. pls guys, keep on posting..
maybe i will go back also to the beta version of WM6 which give me 2 days on my batt.

what do u mean by percentage 80%. pls elaborate more, im trying to understand ur info.
Guys, are you sure it's not a failing battery or software that's causing the problem? I'm still having only 4-5% at night, which is my normal drain... and I have HTC Home and WBA3 running...

i just want to know where can i buy online , a cheaper but higher capacity batt.
which one ur using @ultimate? mAH?
I'm using a local brand Worcell, 1530Mah, Japan Cells. Tested to perform slightly better than the O2 supplied Taiwan battery of the same rating by me (difference of 1% drain overnight). I switched it because the battery randomly looses its charge, and had no problems since.
4-5% drain overnight, ~40% whole day use, inclusive of RSS reading and 2 35-minute bus journeys of A2DP goodness. ^_^
Without A2DP I get ~29% whole day use.
wm6 atom rom 0.3 or 0.7 = 25% overnight (without any software)
wm5 atom exec rom = 4% overnight (with WA2, HTC Home, pocket brease...)
ATOM WM6 AKU 0.7 8MB pagepool with HTC Home plugin & Touch Cube
ATOM WM6 AKU 0.7 8MB pagepool with HTC Home plugin & Touch Cube
15hours (9am-12midnite) usage and my battery is down to 60-70% of battery power left. I think thats pretty good battery life ( I switch off bluetooth though) - just normal PDA usage, SMS and some short phone calls.
Before, when I was at WM5 (with Xda-Atom-ENG-20060426-MOT0822), I didnt get such a good performance from my battery - battery would drain until 30% battery power left at end of day - but thats when I also left my bluetooth on all day.
I'm still using the original battery that came with my ATOM.
Did anyone replace original battery? where´s buy?

so ur battery last for 2-3 days?
please post also for how many days ur battery last? which batt ur using? and the normal calls duration u have in a day.
exactly what i was shouting about
wm6 8pp
if once fully charged it can work for 1 day + 6 hr
and earlier it was 3 days
I am again getting 25% loss after i hard reset and did not install Phone Alarm.
I can get good battery life.. i will revert back to WM5 AKU 3.3F to see any difference. Let me sync my data first
I am using the 4 meg pool.... anyone using different meg pool like 6 or 8.. What pool did you use to get 4-5 % loss
so ur battery last for 2-3 days?

~2 days at the most with my normal usage. 12 hours if I accidentially leave a game running in the background.
I get pretty much the same results for 3.3F, so no difference there.
Guys, please remember that you have to redo the standard power saving tips (e.g turn off Recieve Incoming Beams) every time you hard reset or reflash your device. Make it a habit.

i will monitor again my battery for the upcoming release of new ROM. Hope jiggs can finish that soon.
as of now maximum 2 days i can use my atom with normal duration and numbers of calls i have. Im in Bank Sales, thats the reason my phone is quite busy yet i manage to have the battery life for 2days. that's better for me.

Battery life

Mine is shocking. I have wifi ect turned off. Im running SPB 3.5,
Charged for 8 hours last night, Left this morning @ 8am and my battery is now down to 40%!! I havent even used it either!!
Is it a faulty battery or is the phone just ****?
one thing to note is that the battery level indicator is not accurate in the slightest
mine needs a charge every other day for light text, call use and once a day when used as an mp3 player, and maybe a 2nd short day charge if using fpsece alot
ok cheers pal.
batt
I charge as well every other day, I have 2 imap4 account (every 30 minutes refreshed), SPB 3.5 weather every 4 hours refreshed.. 30 minutes of call per day, 5 emails read daily approx, checking time and weather 3-8 times a day. return the phone to orange, battery is sufficient.. ciao
Had the same problem
Eventually I bought mugen battery for me and my brother 1300Mah (which is
same size as original).
I can definitely say its now improved.
I watch atleast 30 min of videos a day.
I talk for 30-40 min
send 10-15 sms messages
play games for 20-30 min
and use wifi for 10-15 min (check facebook, college mail, email)
and still come back home in the evening with a working phone.
the original was a disaster lol

Actuallu oruginak is 1000mah. Mugen 1300mah
For me the original battery got pretty bad over the last year and lost capacity. I think being this undersized and the very inaccurate level indicator doesn't help the battery to hold its designed capacity when empty battery isn't that good for battery health. And my battery was empty a lot of times.
So I hope this improves a lot with the ordered mugen battery 1300mAh.

If you want battery life get rid of spb asap! And if you have one of those roms that come with spb preinstalled and you can't disable it, try reinstalling another rom. I suggest the rom in my signature, it is 6.1 but it realy flies! It also leaves you with 100+ mb free boot ram. If you're having problems with ppl complaining about not hearing you well etc there is another version in the same thread with radio 5005.1700.05 which is for many europeans the best radio with crisp sound during calls and great battery life. Day before yesterday about 12:30AM (well practically that is yesterday ) i started with full 100% and installed this rom, which is quite a battery draining procedure. Yesterday phone was connected to bt headset all day, talked about 20-30mins and today as i'm writing this post i'm in almost full 70% on a mungen 1300mah battery.
edit: I forgot to mention something important, cpu is set to low and backlight to middle.
edit2: Today at 8:30 it reached 10% and got the recharge msg. Yesterday all day i had no calls just bt headset connection. So that's 2 full days and some change, highest ever
Now that I have the new mugen battery with 1300mAh I can state that my old original battery lost something about 30-50% during the last year. That's pretty bad, eh?

Samsung galaxy ace battery capacity

Just a week ago i brought new Samsung galaxy ace S8530 ..has gr8 internet speed..From first day i am not getting battery life according to my exceptation so after lots of search on net i saw that everywhere the battery capacity of galaxy ace is shown different like in some sites they say it lasts for only 6 hrs..some say it lasts for 2 days , while some say it lasts for 1 day..
So can anyone plzz tell me Exactly for many hrs its battery can work...
my minimum usage of cell in whole day:-
1. Internet(with Edge Connection only) : 2 hrs
internet mostly includes Facebook, and downloading apps from android market..and Sometimes bit surfing!!!
2. Music player (with only headphones) : 1 hr
3. Watching videos (with only headphones) : 1hr
Not Youtube videos, just normal videos which are saved in our Memory card...
4. Games - half hour
5. Max to Max 3 calls in a day...
6. No use of GPRS
I have set the brightness to very low ,and screen time out to least 30 seconds and i turn off Internet when not in use!!!
Note: i charge battery for upto 3 hrs..only when battery goes to below 15%
charging for 3 hrs is enough or should i charge more...
So i want to know with this type of usage & settings, my battery should lasts for many hrs...
with this usage mine will last for 8-9hrs....
in settings go to location n security and turn off the "use wireless network" - when this is off u wont b able to use google maps...
and also in accounts n sync turn off background data
these two things would help in better battery life.....
hope this helped
watching videos does sucks up a lot battery...
are u on froyo?
i dont knw if many people agrees.. but flashing to gingerbread did also improved my battery life..

Battery Meter: Extreme drain when in use

I bought the samsung s2 primarily because of the amazing reviews it got for battery life.
I got mine 2 days ago and right from the start there were problems. I charged the unit three hours and according to the battery meter it had still not charged. then I tried to turn on the phone nevertheless, and it said it had 100% battery life. I then used it for 2 mins and it dropped down to 0% again and powered down. Then on charge back up to 100% in a couple of moments and back down to 0 % mins later. I took the battery out then put it back in - and then it was working fine again.
Now on day two, I've noticed an immense drain when its in use. Check out the screenshots. I think I'd be lucky to get two hours solid use out of it.
Should I return it, or does this look standard?
The battery needs some time before it reaches it full potential. In the mean time do some searching cause there already are enough battery life threads.
I already searched and read many of the other battery threads but didnt come across anyone who'd experienced the problem I described.

Correct 0-100% about four hours longer on a brand new phone ,
then I tried to turn on the phone nevertheless, and it said it had 100% battery life. I then used it for 2 mins and it dropped down to 0% again and powered down. Then on charge back up to 100% in a couple of moments and back down to 0 % mins later. I took the battery out then put it back in - and then it was working fine again.
bad battery connections clean .
Now on day two - I charged it at 9pm last night and by 9.30 am unplugged it was down to 84%. This with no apps open, no widgets running - nothing. wifi was active though.
Overnight is variable and Wifi uses battery .
then in using it for just 40 mins - doing nothing more than internet surfing through wifi; it drops from 84 - 68%.
Does this pace of battery power loss sound consistant with other users experiences, or should I return the unit and ask for a new one?
I think you have two choices one charge the battery read all the battery posts .
Or return to seller .
Personally i would turn WiFi GPS etc off at night charge phone to 100% see what it drops to by morning .Big drop and it would be returned as your original 100% to 0 drop very quickly suggests a possible fault .

Thanks for your feedback.
I've read through quite a few posts there.
One thing; do we know how long galaxy s2 should be able to be on for if the screen was on the whole time? Is four hours low, or does that sound right??
50% or less on brightness playing SD video should last more then 7 hours , browsing web however can be 5ish+ .
Screen at 100% and browsing web drains battery fast , 4 sounds about right.
It all depends what and how you doing it ?
Well I have it on auto brightness, usually which seems to be around 50%....
and I'm web browsing or just playing around with settings and looking at menus. I'm down to 45% battery and have probably had the screen lit up for maybe 90 mins max??
rest of the time phone has been on idle with wifi on but no network activity...
does this sound below what it shoudl be??
OK I've now attached my screenshot.
Does this battery usage seem normal??
i.e, such extreme drops when the phone is in active use???
All I've been doing is texting, some wifi surfing, and looking at menus.
Search the forum for "Android OS bug". There's no solution yet though. Turning wifi off when you're not using it helps.

Hi there.
I have installed Lite’ning Rom v1.5. Everything is working ok, but yesterday before sleeping I had battery 80 %, today after 6 h it drops to 1 %. I have data transfer turned off, also Gps, WiFi, ... Also before 2 weeks it drops from 100 % to 70 % after some hours with no using.
I have to add, that my battery held up for 4 days once with no particular using.
Any ideas plz?
Thx for answer.

How long does your battery last on your SGS2?

Usually, on weekends, or holidays, I use my phone for Angry Birds, many other games, music, etc for a long period of time. Today I managed to get about 5 hours use until the battery got to 30%.
I'm not sure whether or not this is good or bad and so I'm wondering; how many hours do you get out of it, in relation to being a heavy user, medium user or light user?
Thanks
about 5/6 hours max
With normal usage 24-30 hrs. Wth heavy use, 8-10 hrs.

pretty much the same
always have 3g on and im quite sure i listen to music for 7 hours at least while im at my office...and by the end of the day i have like 20%
10 days and still going
With all data disabled most of the time, almost unused, but still connected to the GSM network, mine is now at more than 10 days (and I think it wasn't even fully charged at the start of this period). This is with stock ROM, Apex launcher, almost no other custom apps.
It's hard to have an effeicient answer since it depends on many factors : the way you use your phone, your ROM , Kernel and all setting stuffs etc ... . And even with same settings , two SGS II can have a totaly different battery drain. So, you can compare but it wont realy be so efficient .
Anyway , for me with a usual use : almost 2d and with heavy use about 16-24 h. I m on Wanamlite 10.6 with last Siyah V3.0 Kernel.
At weekends 5 hours max weekdaus prob 8-9 hours
Mod or Die
Plenty of hourly syncing and light use....
Stock rooted KL1 + LPR radio
I have tried 3 different ROMs and with the last ICS ROM i had 8-9 hours with heavy use of 3G/Bluetooth/sync ... and of course it's depends of what apps (games ) i use among the day ...
awesome how some users get 24 hours with a single battery charge.
When I use my S2 as a normal phone, about 20 hours.
But with heaving usage and gaming (which I do pretty much) probably between 6 or 8 hours also.

i guess screen on time is more important than overall battery time. I Used to get 4hr screen on time with a full day usage which is quite good for me and i think its average.

+1 Agreed here are some on my screen shots.
Usually prefer to watch youtube video's through browser So flash is must & it is a nice battery drainer too.Plus 4 hours of non-music playback !
Brightness - 20%
When i use gprs heavily it is very less!
Normal use may last a day!
Playing games also burns the battery pretty fast!
I have a Superatmos ROM installed in my Galaxy SII i9100G and I get around 30 to 35 hours of standby time with normal to low use. I do however browse the internet over WiFi some 4 hours a day.
I am quite happy with the performance of my phone.
So far its three months but its like Triggers Broom .
