Although it isn't bad to have just in case. The PRL will connect your phone to Alltel towers if there are any closer to you, if not, it will just use a VZW tower.
/!\WARNING/!\: Doing *228 in dialer , will overwrite the PRL to the regular VZW PRL.
A stronger signal usually has big benefits, especially on battery life.
Unfortunately, it won't help some people. But still, it's always good to have.
1) Click Here to download PRL
2)Take this , and put it on your phone's sd card. Don't put it in any folders on your sd card, just leave it at the front.
3) Go to the dialer and write, ##778 and press call, hold and you should get a pop up.
4) Select Edit Mode, then enter 000000 (6 zeros) as the password.
5) Slide down to PRL, and press Update PRL. ( Please wait a while, it takes some time)
6)Once there, slide down the keyboard and you should see the Hybrid PRL file, press on it, and then press OK.
7) It should bring you to the menu you were before, press the menu button on your phone and select Commit Modifications.
8) The phone will update and reboot. Congrats, you flashed the PRL!

These pictures pretty much sum it up, Thanks csshih for your fail snapshots and thank sed for upping the PRL to multiupload. =p
Hope this helps some out there!

bah, fail snapshots :3

Thank you very much!

if you dial *228 will it over write the hybrid?
Im guessing yes but i just want to check

didn't alltel merge with verizon, so wouldn't that mean that they are already sharing towers.

Yeah when I went to the alltel site to find the coverage map, it asked for my zip code then said that my area was operated by verizon and it had a link to verizon wireless saying that I should go to that site.... did some more investigating and found that alltel's towers were bought by the big companies.... so it seems...

Apparently, some of Alltel towers are still not completely detected by Verizons PRL.

I'm using your rom(EvilEris v1.1) and ##778 doesn't do anything. I'm still sitting at the dialer.
Ideas?

Sadly v1.1 lacks EPST.apk since I forgot it, take it from another rom and push it.

I've installed EPST.apk from another rom and it appears in the installed applications list, but ##778 still does nothing. Other ideas?
EDIT: Since ##778 fails I tried launching EPST by making a shortcut to it with anycut. It somewhat works. View mode locks the phone up until you hit home. Edit mode asks for password, but after entering it takes forever trying to verify the password before it times out. So I'm still screwed.

I knew ##778 fails on my phone so I did a nandroid backup, wiped, retored to my Ivan .8 backup and flashed the prl from there.
Then restored back to previous rom.
It is a long process but it does work.

Wow.
I did a test before and after flashing this and got these results:
Before: 90kb/s down, 26 kb/s up.
After: 247kb/s down, 79.5kb/s up.
Did the test from the same spot literally 2 min apart.
Gotta say, this may have just solved my reception issues here in Virginia.

Hey guys can some one point me in the direction of where i can find a fix for my 50% time without signal glitch....

plug charger into phone, put in airplane mode, put to sleep for a min, take out of airplane mode, unplug. No time without signal........unless you reboot, then start from beginning.
Only known fix

On the Aloysius V7 Rom and no ##778 either. Is it a sprint rom issue? I take it that if I flash the PRL in another backup and go back to this one the PRL stays or is it part of the Rom also?

Just another example of information being spread all over the place. Framework, I wish you would have just put this information with the thread that was started here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=673589
You experienced android folks on this forum always gripe and complain about the new people and the repetative questions and then you split the information all over the place making this confusing and disorganized.
Im glad you know a way to get this Hybrid PRL on the Eris without a call to Vzn but for some the easiest way is to just call Vzn and request it.
And by the way, If you knew about this PRL, why did you wait till it was pointed out by someoe else before you started a thread.

Don't take it personally, framework probably just didn't want to hijack your thread, so instead he made a thread with instructions and the download are the first post so users don't have to dig deep in the forum. XDA is pretty good on the amount of repeat threads compared to other sites so its not a huge deal. Either way you both have done the purpose of the forum: inform and instruct.

Thanks for explaining, I couldn't have said it any better.
Anyways, I recommend calling though, its the most updated PRL and is easier for some people.
05swtc,I just think its easier so people could know where to find it, as your thread title wouldn't point them out to it, and it would be easier for them to get it off the first post.
I don't appreciate the sarcastic post you replied with, as I had a reason behind doing so, and I find that this way makes things way less confusing, infact, its a lot more organized.

Is there any negative side effects to doing this? I have an ok connection but lately it's been stuck on like 1 or 2 bars. And I'm in Arkansas so since the map shows it's basically covered, I'm assuming it'll help.

Just updated this, my old PRL version was 51866, this hybrid one is 65024. I live in the tri-state area so I probably won't see a difference. I'll post here if I do.

[Q]How to recover my S GT-P7510 from boot loop?

I'm new to this forum, as i'm new with android based devices and i've come to the conclusion that reading a lot of threads regarding my problem just makes things worst. So here's what's happening with my tablet and hopefully someone will help me, because i dunno what else to do.
I was reading this forum this morning on how to root and change themes and roms and develop. So the first thing i did, i rooted just like here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239185 . everything went fine, no trouble in the process, but after this i wanted to install one of boosted's themes from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1349862.
After i downloaded the zip, i put in on the root folder of my tablet, entered fastboot, and install it, as i thought that this is the way it should work. But it didn't and now i don't know how to fix all this cause i can't figure it out.
So any help, hints or something to get me through this it's much appreciated. I've read a lot of information for 4 hours now and nothing works and i can't seem to bail out.
Thanks in advance.

Would help to read the most common thread, but yeah. Drain it then fastboot works again. When it bootloops its almost impossible to get it back to fastboot.
I'd goto the overcome ROM thread first and from there follow restore yer tab part on the external page. Actually you may not need to do either if you can hold power and volume down until you get the first Samsung boot screen, continue to hold volume down, but release the power button, and get
into recovery mode.
I think the battery drain method is suggested often when not needed. As you didn't state anything you've tried already and the battery drain takes forever.
I've seen many boot loops and other issues where the drain method gets suggested, but there are much quicker solutions. Even quicker than what I suggested to do first.
Don't get me wrong. The battery drain method has worked many many times and may be needed here. I'm just saying try something easier and possibly faster to fix it first.
EDIT: I actually meant into download mode and Odin will still recognize your device. If you're able to get this far you shouldn't have to wait up to a week for your battery to drain first. I've never had to goto the extreme of draining and only have seena couple cases where it is probably absolutely needed, but a great method to know of if it is needed.
If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
As i said in the first post, the first thing i've done was to root the tablet. It was ok and then i went on boosted's themes thread and download one of them, copied it to root folder on the sd card and followed the same steps as in root.
Power off=>hold volume down and power on=>entered the left icon not the download mode=> installed the theme from the sd card=>reboot=>END
I mentioned boot loop, but it's more like not booting at all. When i turn the tablet on, it stays on with the samsung logo and nothing happens.
If there's nothing to do, i'll just wait for the battery drain, as long as it lasts and try to enter the first boot screen. if i manage, cause i've never seen it.
It's quite difficult to me to understand you guys, because i'm new to this and i recon that this is one of my biggest mistake, moding something without asking for help and/or get acquainted with android in order to understand how this works.
Now i have to suffer. and hopefully i will prevail.
I'll try to be specific. Power off your tab by holding down the power button a minute out two maybe needed. After powering down press and hold the power button and volume down button, which is the one closest to the power button. As soon as you see ANY LOGO come on screen, keep holding the volume down button , but release the power button. If you see two android icons. Thats great. Using the volume down button select the icon on the right, and press the volume up button. Accept the warning and press volume up again. Connect your tab to the computer, start Odin in administrator, by right clicking the Odin icon on there PC. If Odin recognizes your tab you should be good to go onto getting things back.
Using the overcome re-stocking yer system method uses a pit and repartitions and wipes everything to get you back to stock thus eliminating the need to wait for a battery drain.
Let us know your progress.
You're probably not in as bad as a place as you think and may just need to run through the method you followed the first time to root again.
EDIT AGAIN: Please try this before waiting for your battery to drain. I really doubt waiting that long is needed.

i managed to connect the tablet to pc, start odin3, and now?! what rom do i have to download/install and how exactly? can you link me to a thread. i've searched and download this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167250 but i'm not sure. i'm stuck here. help?!
Got your pm. Hopefully you're getting back on track.
It's great where you can still get to Odin and it recognizes your tab.
If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
But wait, there's 2 ways in which Odin recognizes your tab
1) In download mode
2) adb
I just hope it hasn't recognized your tablet in adb mode or the flashing would fail
I'm pretty sure from what he told me it was correctly recognized to use the overcome revert to stock instructions and files.
But we'll have to wait for a reply to see if he succeeded. Just panicking and undo worried being the first time he's ever rooted I believe.
I can't see flashing a theme causing enough damage to result in needing a battery drain. I guess it's possible if some really silly procedures were followed.
Having been there, done that, I don't feel promoting the battery drain as a first resort is being very responsible with trying to help. I think it makes people with lesser problems, than requiring a battery drain, feel even worse and really thinking they've REALLY MESSED UP BAD.
I think it should be an option, being a great one for when all else fails. Just not thrown out there as a first choice fix for everything.
Mostly it seems many problems are just from a missed or step not executed correctly leaving the person with the problem in the middle of a root or ROM install stuck as to what to do next since the how to posts are so prominently issuing the "I'm not responsible if your house explodes using this method!" statements. It makes people think if one thing doesn't go just as described they are doomed or must take overly drastic measures to be OK. There's usually quicker fixes than the battery drain with the smaller problems and I think they should be suggested before the battery drain.
Please don't get me wrong. I'm not saying anything its wrong with the battery drain you suggest so adamantly and often. I only feel it shouldn't be suggested as a first method of how to fix everything, every time something goes wrong during a root process or ROM, theme install.
There are many cases where it is the only or best thing to do but not in "most" cases.
I hope I never have to use it, or even tell someone I think they need to, because the waiting would kill me if I had just finished a charge, but again it's great to know it's there just in case.
If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
It's all good Benz Thanks , Just trying to point out thought that in some cases the tablet may boot into fastboot which makes things alot easier than the drain method, but then 70% of people who are on the Q&A section often can barely even get to fastboot anymore, Just wanted to know if he could get to that mode, everything falls dandy from there
Thanks for not taking that the wrong way. I was worried.
I also think the different terms describing the the same things are an issue. Like fastboot. I don't use the term but it means the same thing as other terms I do use. Nobodys fault, but it tends to confuse noobs. Even me sometimes. LOL :what:
Actually, I will always consider myself a noob, cause I'm lucky to keep up with thing and never seem to get ahead of the game. Just too old I guess.
I was ahead of the game for a couple years, but that was over 15-20 years ago.

Notification bar - Can no longer pull it down

Today I was listening to music on my Evo LTE and suddenly the phone retarted on it's own. Since then I cannot pull down the notification bar.
Phone is totally stock for now.
- I did a full power down and reboot of the phone
- Uninstalled all apps which I've installed/updated in the last few days(and restarted)
- Booted into Safe Mode
No dice.
I noticed that if I go into an app like Calculator and hold the phone so that it goes in to landscape view, THEN I can pull down the menu no problem.
So I went into a drawing program to see if I can draw up where the notification bar is. I can't. The line stops ~100 pixels from the top of the screen and I cannot draw any higher.
A bonus issue that started exactly at the same time as this problem: If I restart my phone and I let it sit after bootup, it will NEVER turn off the screen. I let the phone sit for 15 minutes and the screen never even dimmed... just showed the rain animation to remind me that Seattle weather blows.
I searched around the web and found many many people stating they have this issue with their devices over the years. Some of the threads state fixes for their device (e.g. Go to Last Opened Apps menu and hit Back) but they do not apply to the Evo LTE.
Any thoughts?
Hit it with a hammer, when my electronics don't work that's what I do, and it makes me forget about the reason I hit it. And it will make you feel better also!

Ah shoot, I forgot that tidbit in the OP.
It's totally stock ROM.
I'll give that a shot... be right back.
Update:
The above didn't help so I did a full factory wipe of the device. Chose to wipe all data. Took it back to factory defaults.
STILL does not work!
f****
You could try the above mentioned hammer method. I have no idea what to do next. Take it to sprint is guess.

Ask them when the hell we're getting Jelly Bean.
I actually have this same issue. I am not quite sure what started the issue, but I am pretty sure it is a hardware issue. The problem was at first intermittent, but now it has been 2 - 3 days and I still can't pull down the notification bar. I think it may have either been caused by placing the device in my pocket or maybe liquid went into the speaker. If you go into settings>developer options>and check pointer location you will notice a section near the notification bar does not register. I already ran a RUU to restore the phone to default, but this did not fix the issue. I unrooted my phone and turned S-ON so that I can bring it to Sprint to get it fixed. Results from the web suggest bringing it in, but problems with the digitizer seem common enough.
It is in fact a hardware issue. I had the same thing happen once. I replaced the LCD/digitizer assembly with another one I had sitting around and it started working. It alsp happened to me a before with my OG Evo. I took it to a sprint store and after trying to troubleshoot for a few minutes, they simply swapped it. As long as your phone is in good condition, they should swap it with little to no question.

I called back HTC again. Talking to them right this moment. They escalated this up to their top tier and the guy is very surprised at what I'm experiencing.
I'm going to try asking about JellyBean before this call is over.

They're getting pretty stingy with doing swaps in-store nowadays. Every store I go into when I need something, they end up telling me to call support to order a replacement that way. Then support tells me to they can't do it, that replacements have to be made in-store. Then the store orders me a refurbished phone that takes 3-5 days to receive, and I have to get from the store itself. You're saying they just swapped yours out for a brand new one, or they ordered you a replacement?

The HTC guy is emailing a buddy at their main US location (Bellevue, WA) to see if he has a spare device to give me and then he'll call me back. I live right down the road from there.
I'm also going to apply for their Network System Admin position they have open so, wish me luck.

Yup definately the digitizer! Just had same issue and got a free replacement from sprint. Then just switched my board over to new shell so I didn't have to deal with rerooting, soff, n all the drama again. Went easy!

Wait, what? They swapped the board and everything for you to keep you from going through all of that? When the hell did they become awesome?

They're getting pretty stingy with doing swaps in-store nowadays. Every store I go into when I need something, they end up telling me to call support to order a replacement that way. Then support tells me to they can't do it, that replacements have to be made in-store. Then the store orders me a refurbished phone that takes 3-5 days to receive, and I have to get from the store itself. You're saying they just swapped yours out for a brand new one, or they ordered you a replacement?

My screen became unresponsive just a few weeks ago and the local sprint store swapped mine with a brand new phone; no questions asked.

[Q] Rooting & Flashing Question

I'm going to flash my TB to PagePlus but was waiting until the all-in-one tool is available, hopefully next week. The guy I bought the phone off accepted the OTA ICS update.
If I flash the phone to Pageplus first and then do the root after, does anyone know if rooting will screw up the flashing? I don't think it will but thought I'd ask YOU experts!
Thanks
Probably should root first just in case

Rooting after flashing to Page Plus should be okay.
As long as you don't mess with any radios, I'd assume.
I can't get the data up
I CAN'T GET THE DATA UP on my HTC Thunderbolt on Page Plus
I've been working on this phone for 3 days now, following every tutorial I can find, and I can't seem to get the data up. With the 4g card in I can SEE the APN, but can't edit it. With the card out my phone won't let me see it. I don't know if the settings are right, so I'm going to try to attach screen shots of my settings. I hope someone can help me get data on this phone. I can call and text, but no data.

Everything I read says its due to the HA/AAA keys. Without them, you can't authenticate. I've got voice/data/txt working with or without a SIM card. It doesn't seem to care except for the NAG message.
Secrets..

I put "vzw" in the secrets like I was directed. However...there were 32 digit HEX Keys in the fields already. Unfortunately I had no data...even with them. Should I put them back?
I don't have anything in those fields and mine is stock.

I'd put them back and try again. Try leaving the SIM out also. I have an AT&T SIM in mine and I get at least 1x data.
Enter Secrets..
I replaced my 4g Card with an older At&T sim, and put the Secrets in. Still no data. I have screenshots of my settings. If you'll give me some place to send them, I really need this data.

I've done SO many changes to this phones info...I'm afraid I've done more HARM than GOOD..LOL.
SO MANY CHANGES!
I still have talk and text, but NO DATA! I have HA and AAA Secrets...PPP passwords...and still....no data. Is there anyway to completey restore the data I've changed? I already no Factory resets and Data wipes don't do it...
I flashed to Page Plus, then rooted, then update radio to ICS. Gonna pop and ICS rom in a minute. No problems so far.

rampart51 what did you end up doing? Did flash first, root second work? I currently have an ICS 4.0.4 that has been flashed to PP. I want to root it so that I can uninstall verizon crap like Slacker Radio and Tune Wiki.

To be honest....I haven't done it yet. Been too busy and the All in one tool looks like it may have a few issues.....I'm gonna wait it out. I have been on PP for a few weeks now. No issues. No 3g but I don't really need it.
I flashed to Page Plus months ago and I love it... I get the same thing as I had with verizon but I pay $29 instead of $89 a month. I had a company called beigephone.com flash my phone for $50 because I didn't have time to figure it out myself. my 3g works perfectly though, so if your 3g doesn't work maybe your settings need to be fixed. did you flash it for Page Plus yourself? I'd actually like to learn how to do it, especially if it can be done without using CDMA WS.
I just used the all-in-one tool + revolutionary to root a different thunderbolt that was still on gingerbread (2.11.605.19). The only hiccup was that I had to remove/re-install the HTC drivers twice (solution here).
Please let me know if you decide to try it out on your ICS thunderbolt!

Let's go sprint!

No OTA love in Florida! Better off downgrading and rooting anyways.
Im in florida and I got ota, may just like be your phone reboot in recovery and clear cache maybe that'll work.
I even did a reactivation. You near South Florida?
Its because there isn't much going on till Friday.

Cool, where did that info come from
I don't see why Sprint or even LG doesn't have a downloadable update via website that computer literate people can use to update their own phones

I got that rollout information (proof: http://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/2wbswp/sprint_lollipop_rollout_schedule/ ) from a Sprint live chat.
Reading the comments on Reddit from the link you posted- I CAN CONFIRM THAT THIS COMMENT WORKS! AFTER DOING THIS AND CHECKING FOR UPDATE - I rebooted.... went back to said LG SOFTWARE UPDATE and I am NOW downloading the update! PS Make sure you change your connection back to lte
[–]WereAllThieves04 1 point 10 hours ago
I'm from Chicago and wasn't part of the 10% that received the update. I forced the update to my phone by repeating this process: 1) Shutting off data, wi-fi and location. 2) Clearing data for Google Services Frameworks under ALL apps in settings. 3) Went into settings and under Wireless Networks I clicked More...>Mobile Networks>Network Mode> cdma 4) Checked for LG software updates under system updates and found it.

I can't believe it myself but it worked for me!!! I was surprised since they have been saying all along that wiping data on any google services would not jump start the update.. but it did.

No update here in Lincoln, NE either. I tried clearing data a few times...no luck. Are guys just clearing data on the framework services?

Samsung Galaxy Mega SCH-R960 help

I know this might be a long shot since it's an old phone and whatnot, but I've recently breathed new life into my Mega from US Cellular. Had the screen repaired and it's good to go again after previously being destroyed by an estranged ex. I was wondering if there is a way to get the latest marshmallow update to the device? I've seen there are numerous posts for all other Mega models (i.e. - all models except the one I own). I would really like to use my Mega again but with it being on Kitkat, it's kind of useless at the moment.
Any help or advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.
And again, I apologize if I'm bringing up an old, dead phone, but I really loved this device years ago and I would like to love it again.
Cheers!

Not 100% sure about this, as I am only doing the same as you are with my L600 model (minus the screen repair >.<) lol.
For the Sprint model at least it is pretty much compatible with anything made by Silesh. Hopefully it is the same for you on USC .
Have you gained root or anything yet? that's going to be your first step on anything, old or not hopefully xD.

I have rooted my phone, but I have yet to find any roms that are higher than 4.4.2. I'm able to use the phone as it is just by inserting my active sim card, but hardly any of my daily apps will run because of the old OS. I've been too afraid to try any of the other roms for the other megas as I don't want to brick my phone. I just hope there's some way to bring this phone back to life. Hell, even lollipop would be a huge help at this point, lol.

Haha yea I beyond understand, my daily driver is a Moto E 2014 CDMA only device xD.
If you have acquired root, & custom recovery, try extracting the ROM u wish to install, & ONLY flash the boot.img, I do believe that Lollipop would run on most KK Kernels without much fussing.

So, I just made a discovery (I think). After taking the back of the phone off to retrieve my IMEI, I noticed that the model number on the phone says L600/R960. Does this, in theory, mean that I can use any roms that would normally be available to the L600 line of megas on my US Cell mega?!

You should be able to not ONLY use any of the great L600 Sprint based custom ROMs, but as I said before anything by Silesh.Nair should actually be compatible . & your radios should stay safe if you don't flash those over, however I am NOT 100% sure of anything I just said, still roughly 80% sure you won't do any real bricking or harm to it xD.
Also, would love to get a PM to discuss how much difficulty you had with your screen replacement, as mine is getting to be totally irresponsive in general haha.

Finally got a day to myself to test out some of these roms and see whether they work or not. As for the screen repair, I had a Verizon store do it for me. I originally was going to attempt it myself, but after reading a very detailed instructable for it.....I changed my mind, lol.

I do believe you & I have found the same instructions LOL. Verizon store huh?? Wonder if we even have one around these parts hehe, really sucks the newest ROMs seem to require TWRP as I am confined to the volume buttons/home as the only real means of navigation. So I managed to get a custom rom and whatnot onto my Mega. I'm currently running Cm12.1 with Philz Touch Recovery. Been using the phone for almost 24 hours now and all is working well. The only issue I've found this far is that despite being a 4G LTE phone, I can only manage to get 3G. This could just be a carrier problem and not the phone or rom. I'm not at home right now, but when I get home I'll post the instructions I used to get everything working. Cheers!

So I did that and found that my GSM service is currently active, yet my preferred network type is set to LTE/CDMA. I tried changing it to LTE/GSM to see if that would help anything, but it just sets itself back to CDMA after a few seconds.

Try switching it to GSM auto (PrL) or CDMA/GSM/LTE, & also keep in mind, some of these old phones simply tell you 3G when in reality you're getting the untapped lol

I did try your suggestion, but as I said before, none of the changes I make seem to stick. After a few seconds, I can watch the setting change right back to the default setting. I don't know if I'm missing something to make the setting take hold, but for now I'm stuck on LTE/CDMA auto (PRL). I wasn't even aware this was a GSM phone as I thought US Cellular used CDMA. I could be wrong, though.
