Invisible shield - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've decided to keep this phone and was wondering if anyone had used the invisible shield yet. Is it worth the $20?

Yes it is! But only for the black Version, on my white u have dust at the egdes, it doesn't look very good. But its really safe! And the Screen Protector is much better, than the version from Soynericsson...

yea know what u mean about da dust have da white 1 myself but still think its a must have 4 all x10 u dont mind da dust as long as u dont get any marks or knocks on your new fone

Scratch removal

Hey all.
I recently got my x 10 and after reading these forums assumed the screen came with a protector on it. I checked it when I got it and it looks like it has one. But after trying to remove it am starting to think its just the outline of the reflective/shiny surface. If anyone can confirm that it is a protector that would be great.
Anyways I seem to some how of gotten a light scratch on my screen. Its very light but enough to get the rainbow effect and be annoying. Does anyone know of a scratch removal solution that is safe to use on the x 10 screen.
Look forward to hearing back.
Regards,
Dylan

I can confirm that there's a screen-protector on the X10 from the fabric, removed it myself, just be a bit rough with it
Have done some research and it seems novus plastic polish is the way to go. Has anyone used this before and know of it will be ok for use on the x10 shiny screen??

Thought i should just add.. the pree applied protector is quite hard to peel of.. once you get it going it it's soon done but it's hard to make that first corner let go and you have to pull it quite hard to rip it of. but it should not leave any uggly marks or rests. did not leave any for me atleast (i removed mine couse i messed up and made a huge mark in it)
Hey. Thanks for the replies. Just a little worried about trying to get it off if its not really the screen protector lol.

Did you ever give it a go? I have a couple of scratches on mine and would love to get them off. Have heard talk of white toothpaste being valuable of phone screens but I'm a little hesitant about that...
I removed the pre applied film and have never scratched the screen.

Can anyone tell me how durable the screen is from scratching? nd I heard that the protection was there to prevent it from screen shattering on a drop is that true?

A thin piece of film will not stop the glass from shattering, its not like the film car windows use. I've been using my x10 with no film and all is fine.

How easily can the screen be scratched without the film?

My daughter and I both have x10's. I've dropped my phone several times on ceramic tiles without issues. She on the other hand often drops hers on concrete and keeps it with keys in a tight fit since she doesn't use a purse and just shoves the phone into her jeans. She has pitting and scratches.
It's mineral glass similar to that on a good watch.

I've dropped mine repeatedly, and dont have a single scratch, i do however have a crack at the bottom of the screen, but that took my 78 kg on top of the phone and a metal button to do, plus falling :/
How to remove a screen protector
Well the easiest way to do it would be to use a piece of scotch-tape.
If you apply the scotch-tape to one of your protectors corners, it should be fairly easy to peel it off...
Felt pretty stupid when i found out that I have 2 protector s on. The stock and the spare one supplied but I've let them on as my 4 year old plays on it often.

im very tempted to remove it but dont think i will. i have horrible luck with touch screen phones lol
i broke my previous iphone screen 3 times.
Wow thanks guys this is amazing. I have had my x10 since may 2010 and I only just found out it has a screen protector. I have taken it off and now all the annoying surface scratches has gone.
Thanks!!!!!!

No way... When I got the phone there was an obvious cover stick on the phone which I assumed was the screen protector and thought how bad it was and removed it straight away. I just realised that that wasn't it and I still have one on there. Man that's a fantastic protector, I didn't even know it was there..! Brilliant!

Wtf is this???

Hi guys I'm wondering if its a screen protector around my screen or not I remember when I received my phone I once took out a screen protector it was extremly easy to take it off but still I can see something all around the screen and don't know if its a protector I tried taking it off whit my nails and it was veery hard

Its another screen protecter and its harder to take off. Use a razor blade to take it off

OMG.. just replace it with a thinner model... screen becomes moisture sensitive afterwards.
Is it really another screen protector? Because I'm scared to go really hard to take it out I used a razor blade I.managed taking a small part out really tiny tho.

Yes it definitely is another screen protector.
Yes the screen is far more responsive with a thinner screen protector on it.
also don't use a razor blade, I used a safety pin to vertically stab the edge until it lifts a bit. Then use your hands to pull it off as it is stuck on hard so needs a bit of strength to pull off rather than a normal screen protector

I made it wooot! Now my screen is a bit sticky but its normal because of the layer

I have a question about screen protectors if you don't mind I ask here.
Is there anywhere I can purchase one of those privacy screen protectors where people can't see the screen on the side for this phone?

rip that puppy off. mine has been off for months and months. its super tough glass that is ridiculously strong - i have not scratched it AT ALL and it has no stains or marks.
one guy even took to his with a knife to test it (search for an older thread on this). dont worry about anyone saying that its gunna scratch or get water in it - its glass after all so they have clearly not tried it.
hands down BEST mod you can do to your x10, and its FREE!

I have tested this..
The touch response is effected by moisture.
Pull it off and replace with a nice thin one.
It's crystal glass.. quite impervious to damage.. but it can still crack and break.
Holy ! I've been wondering the exact same thing for a while ! Its so hard to take off -.-

White mini pro - black back cover

Missed the rubber back cover from my x10 mini pro.
Looks a little like a liquorice allsort but hey......
Just in case someone wondered how it looks.

That's not bad I've been tempted to do something with mine, like buy a new white back to sand and paint after I saw someone with a tiny black triforce on the corner of theirs.
That looks cool. If the black parts were non-slip............

non slip paint in black or transparent!
Black phone cover £4.95,
Non slip spray can £11.85,
Realising you're not the only one to mess with your phone so much..........
Priceless!

hehehe massive spray can, non slip phone, games controller, other random objects in the house... the possibilities are endless!

When doing anything like this, take things apart! This is just a battery cover and they can be bought easy online. It's going to be hours a day before its usable anyway so do this to a spare.
If the solvents used don't agree with the plastic (I've spilt acetone when doing nails before) then you've ruined a spare cover
Good idea! That look so cool.
Make a pretty nice looking cover that....
I bought blue cover for my white Sk17i
it's look very pretty and I find the texture better than the white cover
May I ask where you can buy an official new black back cover? Mine is pretty beat up right now...
love the white backcover-adv no scratches and it looks new always
I found a new stock battery cover on ebay for about $17.
Mine in the first post is a genuine black one from ebay. Only £4.95.

i'am from malaysia where i can get back case??? for xperia mini pro

Noooo way

After many privacy protectors, mirror screen protectors and matte screen protectors that didn't work properly
I put a privacy protector on my XOOM and to my surprise, it worked properly!
The privacy protector on the XS left lines very visible and made the screen almost unviewable, the mirror protector on the XS was horrible and left a rainbow tint on the screen and was VERY unviewable and finally the matte protector made the screen seem like there was water or oil all over the screen because of those colored dots everywhere. And to my shock none of those appeared if put on a Motorola xoom. I have come to the conclusion that the xperia s has a very weird LCD screen, does this happen to your XS? Is there any way to stop this?
All of my complaining was due to the xperia s being weird and not because they supplied a faulty protector -_- but they should've tested it before they started selling it!

I also come to a conclusion that you should sell your Xperia S.

I allso got rainbows on my screen protector, and even sometimes naked fish. And then i say to my self - Noooo waaaaaayyyy!!!
-_-
Does anyone know a brand that makes a matte or privacy protector specifically for this type of screen
It's bugging me that I can only use a glossy protector
And why does this happen
I have an matte protector.
Its well for me i had the factoryshield under it

Turning my white Note into a black one?

So after 7 months with my white Note, I have grown tired of it.
The color that is. White. I thought I'd love it, but I guess after I got white glass for my 3GS and changed that I hit the level where staring at this white piece of crap is driving me CRAZY! Okay its not that serious, but the color is bugging me. I plan on switching the side-frame-bezel-thing, rear frame, and battery door with ones from the "Pebble Blue" one but one problem remains. The screen.
Does anyone know of an easy way (or a cheap way) to change the color? New LCD assemblies are $200 and that's too much. I don't want a half black half white phone so its all the way or no way.
Thanks!

PS; if there is anywhere that sells cheap different colored glass and backs (like red, blue, silver, brown, orange, etc.) Please let me know. That would be amazing
She if someone wants to trade for a black one.
Sent from the TermiNOTEr!
Why don't you just find someone to trade?
The back and sides of mine aren't in good condition and I flashed a custom ROM on the phone so I doubt anyone would trade.
Although, I wouldn't mind trading mine for an international one. That would be awesome just for the button. That's even less likely though
Sent from my PawPhone 2 using Pur Pro.
Well .
Based on the cost of parts ..you would be better off finding the cobalt blue version of the device .IMHO
With the note 2 around the corner, you may find a good deal on a different device ?
Sorry I don't have a cheaper method for you ....g
Just use a sharpie

aren't there cases that cover the front part too?

I don't have the cash for such an investment.
I may just order a GooPhone i5 to change things up for a bit. Cheaper than buying new glass plus larts or a new phone
