Eris Removed from PCDPhones - Droid Eris General

I noticed this morning that the Eris was removed from the PCDPhones site. Maybe they are going to put the new update there.
If so will it make it possible to downgrade from 2.1 to 1.5, for the leakers? I saw a post a while ago about using the original RUU from that site and a gold card to downgrade the 1.5 version.
http://www.pcdphones.com/

I just checked the site and it has an update labeled MR2: http://www.pcdphones.com/phone_downloads.aspx?bid=126&cid=1&mid=353&carrier=Verizon%20Wireless
Is this a new update or was this one up there before?

I downloaded the update and the timestamp of the binary is January 4th, 2010. I'm guessing that it's old.

Oh sorry I guess it is still there.
I went to the main page and clicked view all phones and I didnt see it anymore :-/

As far as I've read if you've flashed to one of the leaks you won't be able to downgrade to 1.5 and if its leak V3 you may even have issues trying to update to the official OTA released today. Also no gold card has been created successfully for the Eris so i wouldn't count on using one to downgrade.

•Question•

I had a thought that came to my mind.
I understand that the big issue with the rollback is the bootloader or w/e
I'm so tired of my v1 of the 2.1 leak.
Is it possible to use an image of the OTA 2.1 since I'm assuming the bootloader from the OTA and the leak is the same....
Any ideas?
Re: •Question•
You would think so but issue with bootloader is they are the same version with s- on. With that the device assumes the its is same version as leak and you get an error when trying to flash. Say in version you are trying to load is older than the one you have. If that weren't true then rooting would be possible on the leak. Sorry.

I'd think you should be able to flash the OTA update. Since you're on leak v1, you stand to get quite a few improvements and bug fixes, at the very least. It won't help you root unfortunately, but it would still be an upgrade for you, if you don't mind a brand new flash.
Re: •Question•
Yeah you would think but ota has lower version of bootloader. The leak has 1.49 and ota has 1.46 or 1.47. And device assumes ota is older version of Android. The only version you can flash once on leak is desire ruu which is a new release. There is I post for it in the Android development forum.

What about leak v3? It's basically the same as the OTA and you should be able to update to that.
Re: •Question•
Download ROM HERE
It seems to be a Verizon Droid Eris 2.1 Official ROM.

Yes you can use leak version 2 or 3. Or the release which they are installing on all phones as they produced them in Feb. Before Eris got discontinued.

Alright so if I'm reading all this correctly I should be able to flash into a newer leak...
Does anyone have any idea how I'm supposed to do this?
Do I flash to Leak V3 or to the desire ruu rom?
Thanks for all the great answers by the way.
From the looks of things I'm not as stuck as I thought I was.

If i were you i would flash with the RUU rom.
Granted they're both the same OS, its the official one from Verizon.
Better safe than sorry

Yep thats what I did. I put the RUU over Leak v3 and at the least I am "offical" now since I couldnt do anything anyway (root, etc). Simple process with the RUU.
Can someone point me in the right direction as to how I use the Ruu?
Do I install it on my computer first or just put it directly onto my SD card like with the v1 rom?

N/M (whoops - didn't see you got it done above. good deal.)

Have you been able to downgrade your NON ROOTED Hero from official 2.1 to 1.5?

Since I can't figure it out anymore, what is the correct answer, I will make the question...
Have you been able to downgrade your NON ROOTED Hero from official 2.1 to 1.5?
YES or NO???? In case you're answer was YES, tell us how you did it.
I downloaded the RUU from HTC and installed it as always.. If your phone looses connection after rebooting to bootloader, you will have to reinstall the "My HTC"-driver from Device manager..
BTW. shouldn't this be in Q&A section?

what? you simply downloaded the RUU and intalled it?
What should be the problem about that?
It took 1,5 minutes to reinstall some certificates/signatures, but then it just installed as always
No, you have to use the goldcard method. But yeah, then you can downgrade official 2.1 to official 1.5 and root again.

Never used goldcard at all?
Really?
I didn't check without but you might as well be right, I thought HTC wouldn't make it that easy... Especially since all xda members warn us that if you install the update you'd never be able to root again. So wrong.
I've tried to downgrade from Chungwa official 2.1 rom, back to official WWE 2.73 and it didn't work even with the goldcard, it gave and ID error. Do you think the goldcard procedure hasn't been done correctly?

But they cannot lock you out, as they haven't made a new RUU.. So you will have to be able to reinstall the original software to update
Not sure what you have flashed, but a few people have come over to villainrom looking for help.
They definately ended up with a locked bootloader and even the goldcard method was not going to help.
Don't say you were not warned well in advanced, been threads saying do not officially update for months now.
Just download official 1.5 RUU from HTC website and install. Goldcard isn't necessary.

I have the the original HK 2.1 update. I have managed to run the RUU which you suggested above. I have also managed to locate the ROM ZIP and change it to " HEROIMG.zip" which was sucessfully detected.
The update process starts automatically and after a few minutes I get an error message - UPDATE FAILURE- saying that " THE MAIN VERSION IS OLDER!".
Please help.
Many thanks

Well, our tests were successful
We took a tester's phone and installed the unrooted update.zip from here: http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=100&t=1973 (first link).
Then we carried out the procedure and he booted into AmonRA with a blue care bear (he was previously running it without care bear, and the ROM used is obviously unrooted - we checked using shell and su as well )
I will post details as soon as I write it up, and get it tested on an RUU
Ok so waiting for tutorila soon))

[Q] G2 Still on 1.5 T-Mobile

My friend got a G2 (Hero) over a year ago and at the time I was not able to root it, so we left it.
Now, I just found out he's still on 1.5! We're looking through the menu's and can't find 'Software update'... so how does he receive the 2.1 update OTA?
Thanks.
What network?
Should have had a push notification that there is an update. Failing that there are threads after threads on here how to upgrade to 2.1.
It's T-Mobile (UK) which is apparently much harder to flash. Not sure I can be bothered with gold cards and such

You won't need to... wierd how you ain't had the update pushed. Do a reset of the phone... I forgot where it is in the 1.5 menu though it will be in settings somewhere! Try.... Privacy.... make sure you backup the data though!
Hmm. You need to use the latest. 1.5 tmobile ruu to update to a particular version of 1.5 before ota will work.

OTA update ?

Hey guys, I'm kind of new to the rooting scene yet and I heard Verizon pushed an update out that fixes a lot of things with the tb. If I apply this update from the settings menu will it unrooot and turn s-on back on? I have not updated my device since I got it, about 2 months ago. I am running bamf Rom , at least I think that's the name of it . version 1.6 .3 something like that. so, what do I have to do to get my radio updated and everything else updated without losing my root or s off ? I see a bunch of topics that have to do with RUU BUT I don't understand what that means
Sent from my AR6400L using Tapatalk
I don't think you will be able to if your running bamf. You need to flash the new radio in the bootloader, then any Rom based off the new ruu to apply the fixes and keep s-off. Check to op of your rom

Read the first post in the BAMF thread. If you are running v1.6.3 and you installed it correctly, you already have the update, it's based on the leaked copy of the Verizon update that's out now.

This is exactly correct... AND NEVER ACCEPT AN OTA WHILE ROOTED! IT COULD CAUSE THERMO-NUCLEAR WAR...LOL. No really though, people who are trying to install the ota even with the stock ROM are getting stuck in a boot loop.
Just to reiterate op, if you are rooted you have no reason to install any ota ever! The developers incorporate it into their roms long before an ota starts. And...as long as you are rooted with s-off never install an ota! You quite frankly never know what will happen...
Hope this helps...

im pretty sure das bamf 1.6.3 already has the latest ota update included. its based of the 1.13.605.7 ruu, which is the one included in the ota. so if your on that rom theres no need to apply the update, you already have it. i personally never accept ota's since most of the time you can find a rom that will include it way before the actual ota is released. and usually with way better features included
