Install launcher - Click Themes and Apps

Hi all!
I tried to install ADW Launcher or Helx Launcher 2 on the Tattoo but no success. I'm using a Modaco ROM, rooted.
Can someone assist?
Thanks
Genci

There are for android 2 and above versions, and you have 1.6. So you cannot install them.

But there is Helix for Donut, I'm using it right now. Go to this page:
http://helixproject.ruqqq.sg/
And the Donut version is last in the list. Enjoy

Yes but Helix launcher 2 is for android 2 and above afaik.
I never managed to install it in any 1.6 rom I've tested. Install and run fine in eclair 2.1 rom though.

Well, normally adb should complain during installation that it's the wrong Android version (if you install via cmdline)...what I do when I find a compatible Launcher is this (it's very risky, so don't do this without having any idea what is done):
1. If running on Sense UI, I upload the Launcher app into the system folder (let's say this launcher is called LauncherNew.apk)
2. Append .old to Android stock Launcher.apk and odex (mv Launcher.apk Launcher.apk.old && mv Launcher.odex Launcher.odex.old)
3. Rename LauncherNew.apk to Launcher.apk (mv LauncherNew.apk Launcher.apk)
4. Move Rosie apk and odex to sdcard and then pressing the home button
it's a bit brutal, but like this I'm saving lots of resources because no launcher runs in parallel...

Many thanks. Installed and playing with it now. It seems to me the icon size is smaller than Home...

Yes, many of the launchers do this to save space and providing the option to store more icons on one home screen...

you cant.
you also cant use touch wiz specific widgets in launcher pro.
they are both coded for their specific home environment.
So how do I change the files ?
Why couldn't I just add the to system/app ?

how do you change the files as in recode them to work in another launcher?
you would need the source code and since neither touch wiz or launcher pro are open source, this is not possible.
your best option is to browse the market and find similar widgets.
otherwise if you want to use launcher pro widgets, you'll just have to use launcher pro.
same goes for touch wiz.

you could add them to system/app lots of people using the old mytouches and G1's used to put launcher pro and ADW there all the time, but it wont let you use the widgets interchangably, as they are coded only for their respective launchers.
it would simply free up a small bit of space in your data folder, and use a small bit of space in your system/apps folder.

TouchWiz Launcher, ICS LPQ...

Hi, i just installed a LPQ ROM, but it doesn't have the TouchWiz launcher (Yes, I like it), so i copied a touchwiz30.apk (something like that, i don't know if it's the correct one) in the system/app folder, but when i try to "open" the launcher it just forces close...!!! Has anyone experimented that??? Is there a fix? Or something like " TOCHWIZ 4.5 for ICS"?
TW UI is the default Launcher for the official Android 4.0.3 ROM
If you copied from GB, does`t work. Copy from stock LPQ rom
why do not you try the nova launcher? This is available in the market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher

nova launcher is lame compared to tw4.5. nova is slow, and u cant even create folders as u can do in TW4.5 . lack of tw4.5 is the reason for me not to install 4.0.3.
probably he feels the same i do

Sounds like you didn't install the official release from Samsung. If you didn't, and the ROM maker removed the TouchWiz framework, you'd be better off re flashing the official Samsung release, as there are a lot more components than just that one .apk.

See above. Official Samsung releases will ALWAYS have TouchWiz.

Flashed RR, but want trebuchet

So yeah, i just finished flashing latest resurrection remix to my i9100, but i want to keep the stock launcher (trebuchet), is there anyway to delete xperia home launcher (its not listed on my apps list so i can not uninstall it the normal way) and just leave the trebuchet stock launcher ?
Thanks
you can use this to delete system progs and move trebuchet over to the system
or you can just install Trebuchet and use this to ensure it is used as the default

Install a file Manager with Root access and then go to system/app and then search for the xperia home launcher and delete it.
You can also just install the Apex launcher or the Holo launcher HD, they are practically the same as the trebuchet launcher, but with more functions.

In addition to what they've said, I've read the RR 3.1.0 Changelog and they said that they've included the Trebuchet Launcher from CM 10. I can't confirm it for now though because I'm currently using CM10 Nightlies, but currently downloading the ROM right now.

I tried flashing the theme on deodexed rom, but it resulted in force close!
1) Flash the deodexed ROM(successful)
2) After Rebooting and stuff, install/flash the flash the theme through cwm and wipe cache(successful)
3) Theme installed (Successful)
4) Force Close issue(Fail)!!!
I'll try it again. And repost/edit this thread.
Thanks!
i have flashed this older and the newer themes thousand times and never haved any issue except settings in older version.

[Q] Nova Prime Launcher as a System App

Are there any benefits of converting nova launcher into a system app?
Does it make it faster? More Stability?
Inputs would be highly appreciated..
Meh, doesn't really make a difference. ROM cooks usually puts it in /system if they're using it as the main ROM launcher, but there aren't any advantages for a normal user. You can do it if you want to, though

Just download a new launcher (Nova, Apex or whatever you prefer), delete the stock Sony launcher from system/app, and you're done. No cooking is needed, but you'll need root.
Thank you very much , You're a star ,I am glad i don;t have to go to the kitchen
restart
If you do get rid of the stock launcher and u put lets say the google kitkat launcher google placed on the play store in the /system app folder and u need to reseat the device would the os install the launcher in the app folder or would it not touch it so when it starts up there is no user face, and if so how can u put aosp launcher back onto it and where would u find the launcher?
