Mounting card major issues! Please help!

Ok so I bought a new 8gb card today but it would not let me put anything on it. Started showing that mounting error that has been affecting the leaked froyo Roms. So after about 2 hours trying to get it to work I decided to install the Leaked Stock Froyo Rom instead. using Odin.bad move on my part because now after a new install. I'm getting the mounting error on my internal SD card now.wont let me transfer files or music over without that dam mounting error. Tried everything.problem is I can't get the mountingfix to flash now using Rom Manager. Wont work.think its because its for e2 recovery and I'm now using e3 recovery. Someone please help me out.I'm about to loose my mind. I'm stressed to the breaking point. I lost my dad on Tuesday night from cancer. I'm trying to take my mind off it by using my phone for music and videos.so please help me out.thanks a million friends!

I am trying to flash the mountingfix.zip file by putting it onto my internal sd. Upon reboot into Android system recovery 3e, and choosing "reinstall packages."
I get the following problem:
E:failed to open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Any fix for this issue please!

You can try pushing the file with adb and be sure of the directory, also it's case sensitive. And have you full formatted the sdcard to fat32?
I'm sorry, I know how it feels to lose someone close to you.

Just tried reformatting it through system recovering and also the SD card setting.didn't do fat32. And why do almost all the froyo Rom's have that mounting error. Even the T-Mobile froyo Rom has that issue. And yea i was close to my dad.

How would I reformat the internal SD card with fat32? That's the one I'm having issues with.the external SD card started work.so now i just need the internal one to work!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Can't you fastboot flash the e2 recovery and try again? Or try another sdcard to see if the card is the problem or not. I know you're probably not that a rookie with this stuff but sometimes you can forget some simple solutions.

I need to get back to e2 recovery or make the internal SD card work. Any ideas. Shh driving me nuts

Any ideas please. I don't care about flashing or using other Roms. I just want this dam froyo rom to work correctly. Can't use the internal SD card to save music or anything else to it. So please help me out!

What kernel are you running? I had that same error when I ran eugene super kernel. Try a diff kernel. Also can you copy it.to your external then move it to your internal thru your phone. I had to do it that way on axura 2.1. Im sorry for loss bro. Ill keep you in my prayers.

First of all, I am very sorry for your loss.
I think that the problem may not be your sd. I think it's a problem with Clockwork. Check out this thread and see if it helps.
HOLY SH-T
this just happened to me too haha!
I was trying to get into ClockWork, by clicking reinstall packages, it said the same error as yours because i deleted the update.zip which you probably did...
Here's what i did to fix, on ROM Manager, i clicked INSTALL CLOCKWORK RECOVERY
and the update.zip appeared on my SD and it started working again.
Sorry about your dad.
Is this going to fix my internal SD card issue? How do I fix this issue without using the mountingfix.zip? I'm now using e3 recovery not e2 so wont let me install any update.zip file. Using Rom manager. Can't get clockwork recovery to work with my Stock Leaked Froyo Rom. So how do i fix this issue. Not looking to flash a new Rom just want my internal memory card to work right! Thanks a million

Sounds like you may have installed the FREE version of ROM Manager. If you buy and install the paid version, then you should have that option available.
And What if getting the paid version doesnt work?

What's wrong with using ClockworkMod then? In this Aria forum you will find more information about using CWM than you will Amon Ra.
Well I Got The License And It Didnt Show Up. The Reason of all of this is that i got a new 16GB SD Card, and im almost out of internal memory and a friend of mine told me that it maybe the dalvik cache and that i needed the amon ra to make a partition and do something about an ext3 or something like that and then do something in the terminal emulator so that the cache goes to my sd card and not my internal memory... Im new at all of this and i dont really understand very much, so can you please give me some help. Thanks
you can use clockwork to partition to and the other thing is Apps2sd

And The Thing About The Dalvik Cache?
you use apps2sd to do that. there's a how to under apps thread on the aria forum

ClockworkMod can partition an Ext3 partition on the SD card. You need to search this forum for threads about moving the Dalvik cache to the SD card using Apps2SD. I don't think that even Amon Ra would do it automatically for you. You are going to need to search and find the appropriate procedures to follow.
Can Anybody Please Give Me A Link... I'm New To This And Dont Know Very Much.

[Q] Phone Storage and SD card won't mount (says "Unavailable")

I recently rooted and installed Bionix V 1.2.1, and it works fine with the 2Gb SD card that came with the Vibrant. However, whenever I put either one of my 2 Transcend 8GB cards (both formatted to FAT32) into it, neither the internal storage nor the SD cards will mount. The phone still boots properly, but in settings they both show up as "Unavailable".
I have searched the boards and haven't found a fix for this particular issue. Could it be the brand of the SD cards that's causing the issue?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I tried that but it didn't fix the issue
I seem to be having the same issue, any help would be appreciated =)
Bionix 1.2.1 has numerous issues. Im a nero fan. But bio1.2.1 was not good
I couldnt download anything from xda.
Now on 2.2.1 stock rom from einherjar dev team.
It is the best rom out. Period. And few have tried it.
So get goin. U wont be sorry.

Retried Voodoo kernel, still no effect.
Look at q&a its all bionix problems right now. 1.2.1 has clear problems right now.

ya, reinstalling didn't work for me either. I was really liking Bionix, but maybe I'll try another rom.
@torturedsoul: did you try booting without a microsd card? Mine only works when i boot with no card or with a Sandisk 2GB Class 2 microsd. Neither of my 2 Transcend 8gb Class 6 cards work, so I'm thinking the rom just might not like those cards.
@Mr Orange: If I was going to switch roms, should i just disable voodoo lagfix and then install a new rom from recovery or is there another step? (sorry for the noob question). Also, is mobile AP working for you in the einherjar rom?

thanks Mr. Orange, i'm gonna check out that rom
So I tried that other rom, but it's still not mounting the 8gb cards. So now I'm thinking it's gotta have somthing to do with these SD cards.

False, it does work.
It appears there is more than one cause for this, and more than one solution as well. I removed my micro sd card and now my internal is working fine. I would like to figure out what do do about the external slot not working though...

[Q] Link2sd

I am a very raw noob and this is my first post, so go easy on me please!!
I have rooted my 5830i running kernel version 2.6.35.7 and on JellyBlast V 3.0.4. I have previously been running Link2sd with no problem linking the files. However, I seem to have done something that's stopped that now and now I just get a mount error every time I open the app. I have tried to follow all the guides in this forum to correctly partition the sd card and have 2 primary partitions with the second one formatted to ext2. I've tried the other ext's and fat16/32 with no success and I'm at a loss what to do next. I don't have to transfer my apps onto the sd card but it helps the speed of the phone with free space on the internal memory and I am frustrated that I can't work it (not very bright in that respect!).
Can anyone help with any pointers please?

[Q] twrp backup fails

Hi all, Noob, but learning quickly. I am rooted and unlocked using AdamOutlers Causal method. Updated to vrall4, both the build and baseband.
I have flashed a couple of nice mods using twrp and found it very easy. I would now like to backup my system as I pretty much have my phone like I want it. I went to twrp, hit Backup and got a Failed message because it says: E:Unable to locate sd-ext partition. I formated the sd card a few days ago so its empty. It is also the card that came with my Thunderbolt, which I had before the note2. I figured it would be a good idea to format it for the new phone after backing everything up to my laptop hard drive.
I searched the forum trying to find partition information and found quite a few threads, unfortunatley alot of it is over my head. I did find a thread that mentioned using the twrp advanced section to partition the card. When I go to that section I can't find a place that gives me a partition option. Im sure its in there but I cant find it. Can someone give a clue on how to do this. Thanks GA
Have you tried backing up onto the internal storage? Maube try putting a file on the sd card first.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that also. Still says it cant find the partition. I think I need to partition the card. Just can't figure out how to do it.

Update. ..... did a bunch of reading on the twrp threads and tried a suggestion I read there. Went to the mount tab and selected "mount the sd card". I presume that was the problem because after that I was able to do a twrp backup. All is good.

Glad you got things figured out. Sometimes it is the simplest of things (which are often the hardest to find) that resolve issues. Thanks for reporting back.
I guess that would be true in that you cannot write data to the sd card if it is not mounted.
Have a great day!

Stat
