[ROM][CDMA]Ninja4hire OmniaPhone7 i920 ROM(DC23 - 21914) v3.0 - (Aug/30/2010) - Omnia II ROM Development

Ok this is my new rom. There is more to it, but I wanted to get the base out so I can work on the ThrottleLaunch theme (which I will cab instead of cooking in). I will also have a few of the custom features in this rom cabbed for other users on other roms.

Special Notes
Please update your phone with the latest Samsung DC23 update before flashing this rom.
After you flash and XDA_UC has installed fully, I would probably soft reset the phone for good measure. This will make sure all installed programs are fully installed.
To use XDA_UC
Before you flash my rom, make a folder on your "Storage Card" called XDA_UC. Make a folder in that folder called SD. Whatever you want installed to main memory will go in XDA_UC folder.
If you want to choose the install location, use the SD folder. Should be working 100%, but let me know if you have any issues.
Current Issues:
* The threaded SMS messaging may bleed over the chat bubble on new messages and if you go landscape. not a big issue, but just wanted to let you know.​

OP7 Swype 3.9 Keyboard Skin: Just added
You will need to already have swype 3.9 installed on your phone. You should also be able to find a few cabs around here, but if you have OEM swype installed your stuck, as you cannot install the new swype over it.
OP7 SMS Skin:
To use your own customer background, make a file called "smschatbgr.jpg" and place it in your "/Windows" folder. (Make sure messaging is closed in the Taskmanager)
OP7 custom various colored SMS Chat bubbles:
Different colored chat bubbles for the OP7 SMS skin only: **NOW AVAILABLE**
Instructions:
IN = Receiving SMS Chat Bubble
OUT - Sending (Me) Chat Bubble
Text Color options will only change text inside the chat bubble (date and time will stay white)

I just tried putting all the files back in without changing the settings (.rgu provxml) and still no luck. looks like its not going to be an easy fix.
BTW very clean looking ROM my friend!
I like the polished touches on this thing. If only it were 6.5.x, I just cannot stand reaching ALL the way up at the top of my screen for the okay, and start buttons.

SECdialer skin for omnia i8000
hey ninja4hire, this is a great looking piece of work!
i'm already using the sms skin, but wanted to know if your Secdialer skin would work on my omnia i8000 wm6.1 stock rom? as in my samsung dialer there is no favourites and hang up buttons,
i only have four buttons: dial, phonebook, call log and message

If you can send me a screen shot of your dialer, I may be able to adapt the skin for i8000. I may need the actual SECDialer file, but we will start with a screen shot.

Ok I think it's the same dialer I use, just some features are used for different phones (samsung is famous for being lazy like that). If you haven't tried already, load up the cab I made and see what happens. I would assume that some of your stuff will be skinned, but some will not. Worst case you can always uninstall the cab and it will go back to your normal dialer. This will let me know if I need you to send me anything before I make a skin for you.
FYI: The cab only contains the skin files, but not the actual dialer itself.

ok, i've installed your secdialer and after soft reset, i no longer have a dialer screen - so when I hit the dial button nothing happens, and when I dial a number through the contacts, no screen comes up, the end button seems to work to end the call, but no screen is seen...
now, after i uninstalled your secdialer and soft reset... my original dialer has not returned - help pls, how do i get my dialer back...?

I believe a hard reset will cure the issue how ever try taking out the battery for a minute then do a restart see if that helps.

Yes that is strange that you do not have a dialer anymore. The default dialer in your phone is basically hard coded (cooked into your phone). Uninstalling my skin should have brought your dialer back at least after a soft reset. Please try soft resetting your phone as kdkinc suggested, and in the worst case unfortunately you will need to hard reset.
I am sorry for this, as it is not what I expected to happen when uninstalling. Make sure you backup your important information before hard resetting (contacts, pictures, files. etc..).
On another note, it looks like I will need your original files in order to make a dialer for your phone. This is also strange to me because the dialer .dll from the i920 has all the same files from your dialer.

no that's not your fault...it's ok... rather than hard reset (because I dont know what backup program to use that would backup all my programs and data without re-installing - can u suggest a program?), i downloaded a samsung oem dialer for the i8000 and now the screen is back, but there are probably two dialers hovering in my phone somewhere ... LOL
re: files you need, what specific files are these - i'm not sure of which files are associated with the samsung dialer...

IMHO
I don't really care for backup programs. I keep my programs cab on my SD card or re-download from Marketplace.
Contacts, favorites,calender I use MS Myphone. For me it works great.
Pictures I copy back and forth if I have to from my PC.
Text and emails I don't mess with much but MYphone can be set up to tranfer them also.
The real problem with backup programs is settings and other saved items can cause GREAT conflicts with new roms. It's my feeling that most of the problems are caused by left over setting and programs registry setting that restoring programs send back.
Just My 1/2 cent of info.

Isn't Phone Canvas a GSM only dialer...
Is your phone a GSM or CDMA ??
That could be the whole issue??
