Overclocking any rom - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I am stil pretty new to android after my iphone 3gs broke and I decided to move away from apple. Ive got the hang of updating roms, currently im using
Firmaware: vanillaeclair 2.0.3.
Baseband: 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29
Kernel: 2.6.29-877eaf14 [email protected] #568
mod and build number are vanillaeclair 2.0.3.
Ive stuck with this rom becuz it is extremely stable on my phone with very few issues that I dont really care about or use.
The only thing I would want to do to this rom is overclock it to make it faster, at the most 710 mhz. But I dont know how or if you can...becuz wenever I change it in overclock widget it goes back to 528. So could sum1 pls explain how I can overclock it on this specific rom, becuz I really like this rom.
Thanks a lot

You have to use a kernel which supports overclocking. Behnaam has provided working 2.6.29 kernel sources for 2.1 ROMs which can overclock, and if nobody's created an update.zip for your ROM you can repackage one yourself; instructions should be in the kernel development thread.
Alternately, you could just update your ROM. The latest VE overclocks by default, as well as most recent ROMs.

Thanks
Thanks a lot...can u please lead me to the kernel threads since I am very confused, but I did try looking for it, im not the lazy ones, I learnt all I did through research, and friends.

this is the thread about benhaam's overclocked kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685489

Hi krandhawa!
For overclocking and much more speed, please upgrade to VanillaEclair 3.3 RC2. It is much more stable and much more faster.
Enjoy!

try this: http://hero-roms.blogspot.com/2010/05/attenchan-peepl.html

Hey Radug, I like 2.0.3 for me it has way fewer fc, and everything I need to have work, just works, but I just want a 710 or 695 kernel for this rom. I find that rom extremely good, I tried some of the new ones but theyre pretty buggy for me, just to let u know, u should put the Nexus live wallpaper in your newer roms, becuz theyre missing in these ones, n nexus mod doesnt work with them. I cant donate since I dun have a credit card but I always test your roms, if u ever need any testers im glad to help.
I tried 3.3 rc2 but I had a few bugs here n there that werent on 2.0.3. I found 2.0.3 the least buggy. But heck ill give 3.3 rc3 a try too.

[Q] [HELP] Which ROM should I use?

Hi All,
I purchased an X10 Mini Pro yesterday and I rooted last night.
I am now looking for the most stable ROM to put on my phone, I just don't know which one has had more development put into it.
Is it possible to use 'X10 Mini' ROMs on the X10 Mini Pro?
Appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction into which ROM I should put on my phone in terms of stability and functionality. Many thanks!
You can not use the rom from the mini for the mini pro...
the only advice is try them. backup your present rom first and then flash one of the few. try it for a couple of days and flash another.
you will find the rom that suits you most this way.
I'm using the Floyo rom and happy with it.
as all roms they are still under developement. things are not working random reboots may occur.
as said in other forums. there is no best rom. all roms are made to personal taste of the developer and that might you like more or less depending the rom. just try the roms available as said before. this is the only way.
read the threads about the roms they will give you all the info you will need.
@wilcovh
Okay thanks for getting back to me m8...
the most stabile and functional rom is the stock rom at this moment.
sorry guys, but you know it's like that. custom roms still need some bugfixes, but the progress is very promising.
hi,
you want a good and stable custom room?
well the best for now is the Foyo rom. it is almost bug free...(only 2 or 3 bug know bugs) and it have some themes options....
see the topic here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961783
Floyo v3.4 reboots often, but I couldn't find any other bugs. If you can (I can) tolerate these reboots, I think this is the best choice.
Temes
i cant boot to xrecovery after installed v3.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951274
and instal xRecovery.
But xRecovery should be working after installed v3.4
Maybe you did something wrong.
There's no random reboot on mine using CM6 3.4, try to reflash your phone and then install 3.4, I didn't see any bugs imho. Instead complaining about the bugs for each rom, try to help the dev by supporting they work and help them find a solution.
Try 3.4 for daily basis it's quite stable. CM7 V5 is still a little bit buggy in some vital section.

[Q] Which Gingerbread rom is best for X10I and which most upto date baesbands?

Hello Guys
First off thank you to everyone for all your hardwork
I am having a problem finding the best Gingerbread rom and the correct basebands that work. I have tried a few and more often than not i have problems with random reboots and error messages. I would like to know which people find out there work the most stable and which combo of rom and basebands please
I have also wondered with Android been an OS for all models of phones can you install a rom on an X10i (my model handset) that has been made and is basically stable as F8*k for example a HD Desire or model that would work on X10i. I think i may know the answer and that been that it isn't possible but i want to ask anyway just to clarify
Lastly a very big thankyou to everyone for all there hard work and time put into the development of the roms so that we can all update our phones when SE couldn't even release updated roms for us. Personally i think it was a case of they didn't release 2.3 for X10i as they had the Arc coming out and 2.3 was probs it's biggest selling point.
Marti
Cyanogen CM7.0 RC4 v013 Gingerbread 2.3.3 is the only one I think... arc rom is not really maintained and was more of just a test. you need BB .52 . for me v013 rebooted a lot, but I am going to try v014 later
Hello
Gopdemon thanks for your reply
I have tried both of what you suggested with no luck :-(
I think maybe it's a problem with the baseband rather than the rom?
The GB ROM is unstable right now, even with the custom kernel. I would stick to 2.2 since its like 99-100% done. But you can try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947613
Mister J thanks for the link. Thats the rom i am currently on
Thank You
Thanks to everyone that replied. I am now trying to work out which MIUI roms are best with best baseband but always running into issues :-( typed by Kate on behalf of Marti

Help - most STABLE P500 rom for old BB

hi guys,
I hope somebody here could help me - I'm looking for the most stable ROM + Gapps for my old baseband P500. I really use it for work, so I cant afford to have it crash. I already have it rooted and installed recovery just yesterday from ROM Manager.
I installed a few different ROMs, but they are not stable. I have heard of other ROMs like PerfectPeso, etc. but it seems either the dev has quit or it has gone new baseband only. On facebook, I read about some people talking about CosmicExperia 3.5.. but not sure about that. I would have preferred gingerbread based ROMs, but hey... beggars cant be choosers.
On top of that, mediafire is no longer working, so I have even fewer working links now.
If you guys have some recommendations, could you please, please point me to download links as well ?
Mik's CM7.....Stable!

For better battery life, flash this kernel:

[SOLVED] The best "STABLE" ROMs for LG Optimus One (GB and ICS) [Constantly Updated]

[SOLVED] The best "STABLE" ROMs for LG Optimus One (GB and ICS) [Constantly Updated]
FIRST OF ALL A SWEET NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS. THIS THREAD IS NOT MEANT FOR FINDING THE BEST ROM OR WHATEVER IN XDA. BECAUSE, THE CHOICE OF ROM IS ENTIRELY DEPENDENT ON THE USER AND SO, THIS TITLE IS USELESS.
THROUGH THIS THREAD, WHAT I MEAN IS TO HELP THE NOVICE USER IN FINDING A STABLE ROM WHICH CAN BE FLASHED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS PHONE
Hi everyone. From these forums, I can find that most of the noobs are finding problems finding a good user customized ROM for our beloved LG Optimus One.
I have tested all (Yes I mean it) the ROMs from XDA, and found only a few stable ones. Hereby I will be listing those ROMs (Stable ones of Gingerbread and ICS only) with bugs if any. All the noobs will be able to find the most stable ROMs in the first few posts over here, as the posts are constantly updated.
Currently the most stable ROMs for our LG Optimus one (ACCORDING TO MY OPINION) are listed below
Guys, please feel free to point out any bugs you have found out in these roms.
If you have come across any roms offering better stability, please share that too.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gingerbread Version (old Baseband)
Guys, just after rooting your phone and installing the custom recovery, you guys can readily try these ROMs. Nothing more to do . These ROMs will make your phone fly
Noejn's void. #forever (Completely Stripped off Gingerbread ROM, Superfast, Addons available) STABLE
mik_os' CyanogenMod 7.1.0 (Android 2.3.7) (The first and the best CM7 port) STABLE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gingerbread Version (New Baseband & Cyanogenmod Nightly Based)
Please note, Do not try these ROMs at any cost without updating your phone's baseband
adfad666' CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC0 Nightlies (Original Cyanogen 7.2 ported over to P500, Nothing stripped. So heavy for the phone)
eeee616' NightlyFourE
Having some minor bugs, but faster than Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 because of preinstalled scripts
popdog123, Oxygen ROM 2.3.2 (Usb tethering bug, 2g to 3g switching bug)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ICS Versions:
All ROMS listed in this Section are based on New baseband. Do not flash these ROMs without updating the baseband 1st
lupohirp, Cyanogenmod 9 (Android 4.0.3) Not stable so far, but very limited bugs
popdog123, Oxygen ROM 2.3.2 (Best Gingerbread ROM)..............
That's your opinion mate.
CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC0 Nightlies are the best for me.
You shouldn't write "This is the best GB ROM, this is the best ICS ROM".
Give people the best options so they can choose for themselves.
Putting old and outdated ROMs in the list, like Void Forever and Mik's CM7 is not going to help in anyway the newcomers.
Likelihood of the different roms is entirely dependent on the users. Some like cm7, some like cm9, some like oxygen. It depends on what a particular user need. A user cannot satisfy unless he has tried all the roms posted in this section.
Current Oxygen ROM has still problems reconnecting data when switching from 3G to 2G so I won't write "no bugs at all"
outdated

mik's cm7 rom is the best rom for someone who has the old baseband and doesnt want to risk bricking their phone with kdz or lgdmp
so it still is useful
Regarding popdogs123's Oxygen ROM
"This ROM is now for new baseband only (as of v2.2)"
Do not discount the stock ROMs...I have V20i (graciously uploaded in the forums by yuripg1 as a zip) and have ZERO complains.
I would actually recommend it to any newbie that is looking for stability and does not need too many bells and whistles (other than OC and some tweaks).
My 2 cents

There never ever been any stock ROM, better than custom ( especially on O1). Believe me
You should try one

Wanna kick me out?
In the end, I value stability over features. I think a good kernel is what most people ever need.
I believe you that modded ROMs are "better" (define the notion) but if I get crashes in the middle of a call I'll reconsider using that ROM/kernel.
I'm not conservative, I just hate to wake up in the morning and see my phone has crashed (happened twice while I was testing franco#4) and I missed calls.
No one has the right to decide which ROM is the best...
U might like something i wont...
Also, such rankings and segmentations can discourage a developer...
Each developer works hard to provide us the best, its upto ourselves to decide whats best...
Hope you get my point..
Good luck!

Nice but still i don't find any significance to this thread.
Next, in mik_os's CyanogenMod 7.1.0, not just add the first stable gingerbread rom but also "The first and the best CM7 port"
You are running nightlies today because of mik_os, almost half of the P500 git is filled with mik's patches and even Adfad666's roms like A8, N2 are the continuation of Mik_os's sources
popdog123's Oxygen ROM 2.3.2 is now only for new baseband
please do the corrections accordingly
Lewa is a really good ROM. I find it stable enough for day to day use.

I thing this thread should be deleted, or changed as "stable ROMs in my opinion". Some of those ROMs still have issues, which can be consider as major ones for the people who need the features not working properly.
why you guys don't make a poll? we are really interested in finding a stable custom ROM for a daily use. for example now i use NightlyFourE and i'm pretty disappointed because that SD auto-scanning for media content doesn't work! and it's killing me inside because i cannot listen music or watch movies. i've tried to fix the problem(like rebooting, reflashing the ROM) but nothing worked. now, i have to find another ROM much stable and with less bugs. cheers!
Try Oxygen, #void forever or Bytecode's OpenOptimus.
Oxygen has a data bug, I know, but otherwise is a great ROM.

problem solved! apparently there was something inside SD card. some kind of virus or i don't know. Rom is absolutely fine now i'm upgrading at 4.6(NightlyFourE) cheers!
Thanks for pointing that out bro.

[Q] What is the best Rom, kernal etc for fastest running.

Ok, basically a long story cut short. My Xperia Neo is a bit of a mess. I upgraded to ICS but the phone lagged lots and just runs far too slow. I tried downgrading to Gingerbread but I have some weird version with chinese symbols etc. I'm one of these idiot newbs who thought they knew what they were doing but clearly don't.
I tried searching but got confused by all the different roms and kernals available. I was just wondering if someone could let me know what is the best Rom and Kernal for my phone is keep it running sweet.
Thanks lots in advance.

It depends on ur usage All roms on development thread r good
each rom has unique features and styles So depends on ur use
If you don't want any trouble, use any stock based rom.
Im currently checking these out..
JellySandwich http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880321
IceCream Pureness http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737862
both seem good but cant decide which one i want
I'm on JellySandwich with Nightelf Kernel and it's just awesome.
Jellysandwich , Ice Cream Sandwich Pureness
I had both , and both of them on Night Elf Kernel.
I found ICSP very laggy (until I Flashed the JB Adreno Drivers) which made it smoother but is a pretty neat ROM overall (only thing is that I Don't Like those square icons) ,
JS is VERY smooth, with all those JB Adreno and Tegra 3 Scripts , It's really good , BUT the Aroma Installer is a bit confusing , so I've Installed and Reinstalled the ROM quite a very large number of times which made it quite buggering just like rite now, I'm using it (the last update 6.2.5) aaaand I don't have Gtalk , which I selected on the Aroma Installer, but I DONT have it , and I have XDA apk, which I Didn't selected!, and just a few things like that...
Which I Don't like about them both is that I Can't use the Music Info Download in either of them. which is pretty lame.
another Good option is the X-Gamer ROM which I liked a lot, the only thing it lacks is the ICS UI but it's a pretty good ROM.
Overall good gaming performance, and VERY stable.
battery Life was good too. but as I said is a GB ROM so ICS UI is just NOT there...
and about those Chinese things its just because You flashed and CN tft (it's like the official ROM but...for China)
you have to flash the Global .tft (search for it on google , like ... "Official Gingerbread Global Xperia Neo .tft " or something like that )
should arytgma
I'm right now on Ice Cream Pureness 13 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738055 and The Alliance kernel 1.5 by Night-Elf http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566871 and it seems pretty good to me :good:
Try by yourseft
All of custom rom in this forum is very good.
recommended: use GB for NEO/NEOV if you want stable, fast, good battery. Try T0x1c V8 or codename 9.1 rom.
