X10 has front facing camera? check this... - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i am schocked to see this....does x10 has front facing camera????
the page here confirms it....... OMG
http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dERiNkdJY2pBQnQxWF9sYUpTcGo0S3c6MA
the page here is talking about fring with video calls.....can any one confirm this..

You had better ask McKebapp, he has pulled his X10 apart
But I doubt it.....
Bloke

Noooooooooooo!
No, there is no front camera!! No No No!

but the other 2 devices has front cameras........and i dont understand y this device is added to it.......

X10 has just one cam! I've tried and frings uses that...so no front camera!

i will get back my x10 tomorrow....will test it and confirm.......
i hope its true and i should be the first one to tell u all

i have got an email from early access team of fring with a test fring apk.....
i dont have the phone with me right now....tomorrow evening i will test it when i get my phone back.....
Hello,
I’m glad to introduce: fring 2.1.0.17 for Android.
Before you install the attached version, please uninstall the current one and wait 2-3 minutes before you connect again.
This version includes the following features:
- Video Calls for more Android devices (Sony Ericsson X10, Dell Streak).
- fring should be running smoother on Froyo.
- Some other improvements.
We'll be glad to get your impressions, comments, suggestions, bug reports etc.
Thanks,
Tom
Early-Access team @fring.

I've tested it. I can confirm no front camera. Just uses the main camera, which is kinda useless.

No Guys, I'm sorry...
There is no front cam installed.
Seach for my "Upskirt Shots" Thread.
If you find a frontcam, please post the lottery numbers for coming Saturday

http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_shakira_makes_a_debut_a_new_xperia_x10_offshoot-news-1715.php

i m also confusing with this. arent we all knew that x10 have no front camera since they first day published?

I saw a video by CoolSmartPhone.com on youtube with a white x19 with a front facing camera. S o n y Ericsson Xperia X10 - The on-screen keyboard and dialing

A lot of salespeople saw the proximity sensor and assumed it was a cam... I think that's where this rumor started

there is no front camera....
i have tried using video chat apps which use front camera..they said no front camera detected.
maybe the latest fring version lets u use main camera.
i dont miss it though..
my bro has iphone4 ..he keeps facetiming with his GF...

Facetime is lame. What's the point if you can't make 3g video calls? If you're at home might as well use your laptop/desktop that has a better screen + better quality

so, this is?

Front Camera
There are X10 knock-offs floating around on Madeinchina.com (from the site just do a search on X10 and you'll see exactly what i'm talking about)
Many of these knock-off's have dual sim card slots, front and rear facing camera's, radio, even built in television.
However I can't confirm if any of them are using the Android OS. Its possible that where ever this confirmation came from originally - that the person was using one of these knock-offs.
Also to note - the camera resolution on these knock-offs are considerably lower than the true X10. Usually about 4mps for the rear camera, and 1.5mps for the front facing.
Screen size is usually a bit smaller. And I would imagine the resolution of the screen wouldn't be HD.
I have though made my decision. The next cellphone I buy will probably be an android based knock-off. Why? If I'm not going to get support from the manufacture anyways what the heck is the point in paying the high price. When I say support I mean continued updates and upgrades. All the work is now being done by the public - not the manufacture. I'd rather save the money by not buying the name brand, and donating to the developers who make this stuff work.

Out of curiosity, on the X10 what does the Proximity sensor do?
I have the message LED's that light up, that I noticed. The blue LED for facebook messages. is this a different LED to indicate something else?

[Q] video calls in x10?

hi...
i bought this cool lookin xperia x10i for INR 30,000(indian rupee).thats really a premium price
But since x10i has 3g ,it was very weird for not findin anythin called "video call" on the fone
can we make video calls on xperia>>>???
also there was no market app in my phone!!
nw i am feelin like pissed off, since payin such a hefty price n not havin features that u want and also since samsung lauched their galaxy with features not found in xperia, such as
good battery life(wher xperia fails miserably)
amoled screen
for 29,000!!!
wheres my multi touch!!
wheres my 16M screen??
whers my value for money!!
The X10 does not have the proper drivers implemented to support 16M colors or Multi-Touch. Also, unless you're going to implement a second video camera into the front of your phone, you're not going to be able to make video calls either.
Good news is that Q1 2011 you will get Multi-Touch through an over-the-air update due to be released by SE (or so they say).
you can use Fring for video call and keep a mirror behind the phone for others to see you
XD did you read anywhere that the X10 have 16m Colors and MT before you buyed it? The X10 Hardware support 16m Colors and MT but nobody said it is enabled but MT will be enabled in Q1 like said and maybe 16m Colors too they just disabled it for better Battery life. How can you say the X10 Battery Life is poor i charged my Phone last time 3 Days ago and still have 35-40% Battery. The Market App has something to do with Google becouse Market wasnt enabled or not fully in India they enabled it 3-4 Weeks ago i think, so maybe you need to do an Update or something. Do you have Android 2.1 on your X10? If it doesnt work with the Market i can upload you my Market.apk.
sorry man, but as a consumer you should definately check out the specs before you throw your hard-earned money away

OKay so this phone looks good, bigger screen, faster, 4g, etc etc but can anyone confirm if it STILL doesn't have LED notification?
Hopefully they don't change anything up for the U.S. versions! Was thinking about switching and getting the HTC pyramid but even though samsung sucks with updates, but the Samsung community on XDA is so strong that I'm sticky with samsung.
I already posted about it yesterday :')
axura 2.3.0 with adw launcher ex
Yes was posted yesterday, still a nice phone........this will be my next
freaking 8 Megapixel camera??? god damn it samsung as much as they suck, they make great phones.
oh almost forgot
to the guy asking for LED thats what it said:
CAMERA Primary 8 MP, 3264x2448 pixels, autofocus, LED flash
Features Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization
Video Yes, 1080p
Secondary Yes, 2 MP
I think he means one of the front for notifications
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
ya sry I didn't know you posted already and yes i did mean in the front for notifications
u could always use BLN-Control...it actually lights ur menu and search when there's a notification...not as gud as a pure led notification but something's better than nothing.

which build can do portrait self ?

i tired lots build from this forum , but always meet the problem that camera cannot do portrait self .
some builds really looks nice , but once you use portrait self , then the phone died suddenly. or some builds can not do portrait self , when you turn on this mode in camera ,nothing happen when you press button .
i just wondering ... is there any builds can do portrait self ?
PS : dont tell me that hd2 hasnt the front camera .. see this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AsZd4sEC2Y

after i tried 7 new builds this week , i still decide to go back to use it again , everything almost can work well , includes the portrait self .
for the portrait self function , MCCM V8 and other 2builds also can do ,but not stable , easy to die after portrait self .....
really hope some one can solve this problem -_-
There is no possible way to do that.
Considering that the HD2 does not have a front facing camera.
The camera app may have the option, but the phone doesn't have the hardware.

just try this build yourself first .
also there is a video demo comes from HTC phone show . they use back camera detects your face ,then hold it for 1 or 2 seconds , the camera can take photo automatically .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AsZd4sEC2Y
even you mentioned the front camera , usually the front camera is a low quality one for video chat ,not for photography.
trust me , HTC sense really can do this . just hope some masters can refine the camera problem in sense 3.0 build , cos i found almost all sense 3.0 can not do portrait self ...

When you choose self portrait mode, you turn the back camera to you and as soon it detects your face it focus and automatically takes the picture.. only available in sense roms..

the HD2 does NOT have a front facing camera. look it up in any manual... no mention of it at all on the HD2, only a rear 5MP facing camera... and whats so different from turning the phone to yourself and taking a picture than and using a "portrait mode" feature? same thing my friend... nothing special or different
you do realize that the lady in the youtube video is the one pointing the phone to herself right? she is holding it with the rear 5MP camera facing her and shes taking a pic... where do you see a front camera working? also... i believe the DESIRE HD does have two cameras, front facing and rear facing.... so a desire rom would work on a desire and give you two camera views, you load a desire rom on your HD2 and you still have only one camera....
so no, the HD2 doesnt have a front facing camera, only 1 buddy use it as you want and please but you only got one to use on the HD2..

I really suggest you to get an English Tutor,
For now, i wonder why would you call it "Self Portrait" if you're using the Back cam.
After seeing the video, from what i come to understand is that you want the phone to automatically take photo when there is a smiling face, for that get any of the OFFICIAL STOCK desire HD build with base of 1.84 or 2.50, id suggest the latest 2.0 from sbryan in NAND or an HD build from boxmaxx.

yeah ~ i am not English speaking people ,but i can read other people's posts carefully first .
i call this function "self-portrait" ,because the name of this setting option in camera is "self portrait" , named by HTC ,not me ,please check your phone yourself.
the original desire HD phone can take your photo just by putting your face to the rear camera no need any smiling expression . for the latest builds , i tried MMCCM v8 build ,this function can work , but phone is easy to die after taken several photos . boxmaxx i aslo tried 2 builds , the rom has this option , but dosent work . so now i just re-installed the RAFDROID HD 4.2.

Yes i very well know that, own a DHD myself.
"self portrait" in HD2 forums is related to front camera as there is no front camera and there are many noobs asking for a FFC mod, also that feature of DHD is very new interms of software running on HD2, (on timescale of 2 years)
you could try pushing the camera libs and the apk itself from the rafdroid build to the froyosense build of your choice, its not necessary to be froyosense but just to mantain integrity as a failcheck.
I understand what the OP is talking about. And yes, I've used a few builds for sometime that allowed a self-portrait to be done easily. You'd just select face-detected camera shutter, select how many faces to be detected prior to the automatic shutter to be trigger and you're done. Like the OP said, it works with the rear facing camera (obviously you'd have to turn your phone around). Now, I've been using Sense 3.0 builds and I haven't bothered testing that feature. But as I recall the feature was working in quite a few Desire HD builds. It might just be me, but I found that feature somewhat buggy, as the focus didn't always work neatly. Still, I wouldn't be surprised If you found another non-sense camera app that had the same feature. Cheers.

I hadn't actually played around with the camera settings much until I spotted this thread.
It has some funky features, and the self portrait works.
I'm using [SD/Magldr] MccM HD V4.5 [DESIRE HD Sense] Perfect [kernel tyhung r5] but with the hastrain kernel so the data arrows flash.
So far I've been running it for a few months and battery use is good, and it's extremely stable.

[Xperia P] Pre-purchase questions

Sony is the only Android phone brand I haven't tried yet, but I'm ready to jump as I like how Sony unlocks bootloader and updates their phones and I like their camera sensors.
I do have a few questions which couldn't be addressed after my visits to pdadb.net and sony's own web-site which hopefully current Xperia P owners can clarify for me, so in no apparent order:
1. Does Xperia P use the sim or the micro-sim?
2. Does the FM radio work on any of the leaked ICS builds for Xperia P?
3. Is the Sony's camera app same as the stock android app or does it make use of the sensor features allowing me to shoot HDR photos and maybe more?
4. How bright is the charging/notification light at night (I've read the topic it can be disabled, but I'm wondering how bright it is if I left it on)?
5. Has anyone been able to link to GLONASS satellites with the built-in chip? I've found contradicting reports that Xperia P chip should support GLONASS, but I'd like to be sure.
6. Do the Sony's own GB/ICS roms include UI in all languages or are they limited by the region?
7. Is the Sony "scratch-resistant" glass actually a Gorilla glass?
8. Is the Sony bloatware in any way useful if you haven't used the Sony media services before and have no intention of paying for them?
Thanks!

1) MicroSIM
2) What leaked ICS builds? If you can link me to it please.
3) It has more features, but no HDR
4) After my HTC Desire (that could light up half the room), the Xperia S doesn't bother me at all. Since to be the same LEDs, so it should be fine.
5) Not sure on that, it's an ST-Ericsson U8500, check the specs
6) All LTR languages, like any Android builds
7) No, but it's good enough for me not to care
8) The non uninstallable part is quite useful if you like Sony stuff like Timescape
Thanks for replies.
2 -- I thought there would have been leaks for Xperia P ICS by now, I must have been mistaken.
5 -- Thanks for letting me know the exact chip, but still it says that support for GLONASS *can* be enabled, doesn't say if Sony has actually implemented it. I guess I'll find out sooner or later.
OK, I have two more questions.
9. Warranty page at Sony's web-site says that I need to bring it to the service centre in the country of purchase and the phone must have been purchased from the authorized reseller. I intend to get the phone on ebay as it's cheapest and 4-6 months a year I spend almost half the world away from where I live. Has anyone had an incident where they needed to get the phone fixed outside of country of purchase?
10. I've read online that the 1080p video made by the Xperia P camera is actually upscaled 720p video which is bumming me out as a kick-ass camera a must have for me. If anyone can provide me with the links where I can read up more on the Xperia P video shooting I'd be grateful.

5 - from my quick look it seems to be on
9 - that's the standard warranty claim, not much you can do about it
10 - not sure about that, but seems unlikely
10 -- well, some swedish web-site claimed that and they posted a video on youtube. I don't have an eye to tell upscaled 720p video from the true 1080p, so I'm not sure.
I do have a question about the camera tho. I've been reading comparison between the Xperia S and SGSIII cameras and while the Sammy has the HDR setting in the camera app, the Sony doesn't. The images taken by Sony phone were much more vivid and colourful: http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-vs-Sony-Xperia-S_id3048/page/3
Is that maybe because they use some sort of the HDR equivalent all the time?

Probably because Samsung can't make good cameras.

Iblazer

well guys, after thinking a while i decide to buy the Iblazer flash for our beast, and if olny is good a half of what they say, that can resolve the only negative aspect i see in our bigbestbeast
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B2uZwDGRgAKONjdfSHdSc3NYVkE&usp=sharing
theu ship to me in this month so hope to have it in last genuary
any other have place an order?
As a photography fan, I would like to see what you get with this flash so I am looking forward to your images
Been following the iblazer. Will also be interested in how it performs.
Dont forget to give it a review once you have it mate!
as soon as i get it i'll sure review.
In the meantime i send a mail to their suport cause the official beta app is incopatible with our device (hope cause the new 4.3 update) und also cause i've the qx-10 lens, asking if the iblazr app will support in the future this lens.
if the official app will support the qx-10/qx100 lens, this small gadget will be the best idea for taking good photos, anyway will be a massive upgrade even with standard Ultra camera
I'll review it later, got mine today but I'm not with the ZU atm! Working fine with my phone (Xiaomi MI2). The iblazr App is still very buggy!
Sent with my Xiaomi MI2 with Tapatalk Pro
Received mine today. Unfortunately the iBlazer Beta App is not compatible with the Xperia Z Ultra at the moment...
I copied the app manually to my ZU now, it's starting but not turning the iblazr on!
If you manually turn the iblazr on you can do good pictures but the light will come far from the right side (if you keep the iblazr plugged in the audio port)
We need to be patient..
App is now available and working great!
I suggest anyone who got the free diffuser bundled to use it as it will make the effect of the light coming from the right side a bit less intensive!
Got comparison pictures attached
yes the app is working the devoloper send me now a mail.
now it start but i haven't my iblazer yet so i cannot test it
and good news for the qx-10/100 sony lens, the devoloper are working for the possibility to use iblazr with them.
so if all go in the right way we'll have the best phablet with the best camera fully working
Could someone tell me, if your USB Charing Cables are short, too?
in the videos one can see a very long flexible cable, all I got is short thingy.
