What's a good average temperature? - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I usually stay around 38-40 degrees when playing games at 768mhz. If I get to 40 I turn it off and cool it down.
Normal use I probably get around 30-35 degrees C of course.
Is this alright? I try to stay as cool as possible by turning it off and putting a fan on it when it rises.

Im on the cdma hero, so very similar phone. Those temps sound just about right. Iv been OC for bout 1-2 months now and I do the same at 40 and stay around same temps on average.

That's good to know. I think 40's a bit hot but I've never been past 41 and when I saw that I put it on the fan with the battery back off. I have setcpu set to underclock at 45 degrees.

40 is good to have as a marking point but 50 isn't terrible just don't run it too long above 45 or so

i have my setpcu failsafe to kick in at 40. i read once that 480mhz drops the voltage, so i have it drop to that, does the job pretty quick.

Phone getting cool whenever i don't use it.

Is a 22 degrees temperature a fine temp? I noticed that whenever i don't use my phone it's really getting cold. normally i get 30 degrees but now after i flash ginger clone i'm getting this temp.
I'd worry about frostbite and the buttons falling off.
I triple dog dare ya to stick your tongue to it and see if it gets stuck! Ginger Clone is themed froyo, maybe its icier than we all thought.
That temp is fine I'd be worried if your phone was sitting at around 70 degrees celcius, not 22...
Lol, im not sure if you guinuinely think its an issue or you are just bragging!

22 degrees celsius = 71.6 degrees Fahrenheit
i'd say that's pretty cool but nothing to worry about
Lol. When left alone it should be of the ambient temperature. 22C is your room temp, that's all.

SGS3 battery overheating ? !!

Guys,
After buying I recharged my phone once.
Now even when I'm simply listening to music and using tapalalk, battery temps are at 43 degrees celsius.
When doing back to back speedtests it went to 47 deg cel.
The lower portion of phone becomes hotter.
I'm really worried.
Can you guys give your battery and phone temps ?
Ps : use cool tool software.

I have no problem what so ever, played Dungeon defenders and GTA III today and it did not get more than 35 degree celcius. The phone do heat a bit up when it charge, but no higher than 35 degree... I did not play and charge the phone at the same time.
(however dungeon defenders did actually lag a bit :O, must be the game that is pooly optimised).
I tried stress testing the phone by playing an hd video using popup play and running shadowgun at the same time, and the battery only reached 39 deg. celcius.
I've setup some battery temperature warning events at 40, 44, 48, and 50 degrees and only my lowest one has ever triggered. Highest I've seen the battery is 42 degrees.
So you guys think its a defective battery ?
Or it needs 3 to 4 recharges to come to that optimal temperature ?

I think weather / room temperature play a big part here. In hotter environments phone temperature during idle or use would naturally be higher than in colder ones. Pretty sure it's quite warm in Bangalore this time of year.

you can better try switching off the mobile, pullout the battery and turn it on after a few minutes. also check the cpu usage, you may have installed some app which might be continuously running in the background

Did not workout. Issue still exists.
No background process running. No cpu hogs.
One more thing I noticed : the battery temp raises to 47 only when there is lot of activiy ln the chipset (either 3g downloads or cpu activities which causes it to clock at 1.4 ghz more often). Where as on sgs2 if i apply the same load its 35 deg. I tried it on sgs2 and measured the temp.
The battery temp most of the time is 40 deg, thats what bothering me.

M planning to return my phone because of this overheating.
Just 5 mins played the game and battery temp raised from 30 deg cel to 44 deg cel.
Suggestions pls.
Samsung dealer says that i've 4 days. Within 4 days if i find any problems i can get a letter from nearest samsung service center and upon seeing that letter he will immediately give me a new phone.
I do not know what will happen if i ask for a refund of money.

I changed the battery. Battery temp is well under 40 deg under regular browsing with music player playing in bkground.
Under heavy gaming under A.C. temp stays still at 40 deg.
I'm ok with these readings.
Now m gonna undervolt the phone also underclock cup and gpu and see how the temps turnaround.

59 degrees Celsius too hot for CPU

When I first got my phone and put a case on it just browsing the web got it up to 59 degrees Celsius or 138.2 degrees Fahrenheit. I looked at some other threads and people said that 60 degrees Celsius is nothing for a CPU, but then other people are saying that it can fry the CPU. Now that I have restarted the device the phone stay much much cooler. I just want to know what a dangerous temp is? Some people say that damage can occur around 60-80 degrees and other people say they have had their cpus hit 90-100 degrees Celsius.

I'm assuming you mean Fahrenheit. I would say 90 - 100 degree is normal-high when running games or heavy applications. Really when web browsing/idle 60 - 80 would seem like the average.
Edit: I see your calculations now. No, 138 browsing the web is not normal - And beings that the boiling point of water is 100 degree Celcius, that certainly is not acceptable.

nope celcius. mine idles at about 93 degrees Fahrenheit.
Edit: Ok, thats what I thought. It didn't stay there long and a restart seems to have corrected things. Do you think that could have damaged it? I just imagine it was a app hogging resources, maybe just chrome being buggy.
with that said the thermal shutdown point for the nexus is 110 degrees celcius, however it starts throttling the clock speed at 60 degrees. some people have claimed to have got it there.

Honestly I don't think it's normal. I have the exact same issue where my idle/sleep temp sits anywhere between 27 and 32 degrees. Doing some light tasks causes it to shoot up. Sometimes as high as 38 degrees (100 fahrenheit). At that point it just gets too hot to comfortably hold.
I've tried doing a factory reset, but that didn't solve anything for me. Not really sure what else is left to do. That's why I'm going to give my provider a call tomorrow and see if I can get it replaced.

How are you measuring the temperature? Mine gets hot as hell. According to CPU-Z the processors sometimes gets to 80 degrees Celsius ~ 176 Fahrenheit. The battery usually settle at 34 degrees Celsius while on heavy usage, but overall the phone gets really hot, sometimes uncomfortably so, but I never had any issues regardless, so I think that's normal.

I have used GSam in the past, it shows the same temp as CPU-Z uses for the battery. Life I said, it can easily get to 34 degrees, right now, for example, just from browsing XDA it is registering 33 degrees.
I guess this is the normal operation temperature. Unless you notice something odd happening, don't worry about it.

What is the Warning Level is it safe till 45 or 50 Celsius ?
It happens when
1) On use of Google Maps while driving
2) Charging
3) When i use Sandisk OTG, to the extent that it freezes & the Transfer stops
4) Even if i Record Videos sometimes
5) While wireless charging
This is really bad Never had such a Issue
Mine heats up under the following conditions:
Google Maps
Using WiFi analyzers
Fast charging
Weak Cell Phone Coverage
Heavy Web Browsing 5+ tabs open

Performance Throttling Overheating Device Temperature

The lower scored benchmark is at from idle of around 40C (CPU temp) while the phone is in the room. The higher scored is when I placed my phone in the freezer and let it cool down to around 28C (CPU temp).
Why is the phone so hot even at idle? Do you r phones go as high? What are your ambient temperatures? I'm in a tropical country and it is around 29C here right now.
The battery temp is only a degree or two lower than the CPU. It's terrible for the battery to be at this temperature.
Mine is around 36 C after 30 min of browsing . inside room temp is around 22 C.
Yeah, Mine also get so hot like 40 -45 like your after 20min of used.
But our Poco got cooling system right, then why like that?
My previous Moto z play was not like that ?, It was only heat while charging because of rapid charge.
It's coz of that garbage of IU called MiUI. Every update it screwed something.

Mine is sitting at 31.0 degree celcius. Could be that you have many things going in your background?
