swype on X10 mini - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Is it possible to use swype or a swype-clone on the X10 mini?
I want to buy the X10 mini, but I'm worried that my texting speed will go down A LOT when using a touch screen.

I try it on X10 mini:
The Swype Beta is not aviable for this phone's screen size

Hi
You can use slideit, try on my X10 mini and works, but to be honest on this small screen you'd better use a normal qwerty keyboard like anysoftkeyboard, cause personnaly I find that "slide" on this little surface is not really comfortable.

You could always go for the Mini Pro instead.

Hey thanks for the tip. I installed Anysoftkeyboard and it's works like a treat! I set it as the default keyboard. It's very accurate and it works excellent with Co-pilot.

No does not work. I installed Swype and it will install properly but when you start the app it says "your resolution is not supported" and then the keyboard does not load. Had to uninstall it. I use Better Keyboard app as my keyboard and it is very good.

Better keyboard is one of best integrated to X10 Mini

I had many problems with swipe, is the worst

I'm using this version ... View attachment Swype-2.6.47-QVGA-_PT_BR.apk
sorry my english

yea. I'd been using swype on my mini pro over a few months now and it worked great.
Initially you have to get used of it and slowly you got the hang of it nicely.

mini/mini pro and their keyboards

My wife is looking to upgrade her phone and wants a smartphone but not an iphone. After looking around she's deciding on the x10 mini series.
She's a bit old skool and still prefers predicitive typing and not a proper/virtual keyboard.
Our question is if you can still use the old numeric/predicitive keyboard on the pro like you do on the non-pro version. We've tested a few devices and noticed that in the messaging app it forces you to use the slide out keyboard, is this so? or is there a setting to stop this?
Basically she likes texting/typing with one hand and only will use the keyboard if typing an email if she really has to..
Look forward to the answer.
Thanks
Bal
Yes, you can
You can install an app call Smart Keyboard or Tiny Keyboard to have a Full QWERTY on-screen keyboard. (Or you can use the default on-screen keyboard of the X10 mini pro)
You just slide out the keyboard whenever you want to
i use anysoft keyboard, which is free and is the only one i found a portuguese dictionary for (i am brazillian). do those cited support using the system dictionary, or do they have different languages?
SmartKey board supports user-defined dictionary but does not support any other languages
I Always use T9 predictive on my Mini Pro, it comes with the phone, and i didnt need to install any other app
I have used many Qwerty keypads-Softwares on my Mini but at last felt very comfortable with the default t9 predictive keypad..
Adding words in it is very very easy....
BTW.
I have seen the mini pro and the only additions are:
+Qwerty keypad(Not that great. For those who just want hardware keys go for it.)
+UI works in Landscape mode also
+BETTER BATTERY BACKUP(dunno why)
Cons are:
-Abit heavy
-an ok keypad
-It looks really thick and bulky
Personally if you are ok with these above factors then go for pro.
Else go for just the mini
I own it and its just great- Except for battery backup

Smart Keyboard Pro

I made a request to the developer of Smart Keyboard Pro to add a full screen mode in portrait like the x10 Mini stock keyboard.
I thought this would be a worthwhile addition for us x10 Mini users as we can use the Smart keyboard Pro in the same way as the stock keyboard.
Any way after beta testing, the latest version 3.8.0 now has this feature included.
Hope you find this update as useful as I have.
I can't get it, when i'm going to pay, some error ocurred ... when paypal on Android? gR!
Thanks for the notice!
You can just download it from the Market.
I got it finally! I really love it, it's the best keyboard and also with that option is a MUST in our mini.
is it better than anysoft keyboard?
anysoft is free.. =p
im using anysoft, also, it has a portuguese dictionary
I tried most of them (including anysoft keyboard) and I still with my Keyboard Pro... at least for x10 mini (and for me) it's the best, it works really fast, just that i want.
SmartKeyboard pro is the best on x10mini , its faaaaaast!!
Now we need someone to create a blue x10 skin.

Good idea , let me see , its complicated though

[Q] Archos 70 keyboard

Hello everybody!
Yesterday I bought a Archos 70 IT 250 GB and I'm very pleased with it. All works like a charm, only, i'm using the standard Android keyboard, which is quite ok, but I would like to know if there are better alternatives??
Could anyone tell me their opinion about which keyboard could be better?
Thanks all!
Cheers,
Jeroen
I use the Swype Keyboard on my A70, and it's very fast. Thumb Keyboard isn't bad at last.
But I use also the standard keyboard.
I like the Thumbs keyboard
SmartKeyboard in my opinion is best choice: mutitouch keyboard with lot of options, gestures handling and t9 support.
Swiftkey here
I would love to get Flex T9 but the Market doesn't show it to me. In the meantime, Swiftkey is good and gets better as it collects your frequently used words that aren't in the standard dictionary.

Ditto, it is also running great on my phone
How did you guys get swype working? It wouldn't run on my 70, I'm currently using the big thumb keyboard but would rather use swype, thanks guys!
Update, I installed SlideIT keyboard from the market which is just like swype and that works great.
In landscape mode a tad bit of the end buttons are covered by the Archos home keys but they still work fine. It is VERY fast.
Honestly I'd give this one a try -> https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin.free
Make sure you set your language in the options, otherwise nothing will appear.
It's a very awesome keyboard and I can type much faster than the 2.2 keyboard.
Swype looks good but it doesn't work for me, tried latest beta.

Hi,
Swype is now available for the mini, from the official site itself---specially designed for mini's resolution.Check it out.I have tried and it works well.Personally I find Swiftkey more appropriate for the mini---least effort required after a while because it has a very intelligent predictive capability and draws on your usage pattern!I have the paid version but the free version is good enough for starters.Check it out.
Best wishes.
thanks for all your suggestions. I will try these keyboards.
sathkartha I tried to install swype but its installation gets failed. so can you please attach the file. so that I can try it once more.

It might not work that way.You may have to register your email id that can be accessed on your phone.Swype would then send you a link which you should open from your phone and then install.I think they generate some unique id in order to keep track of all their installations. This is still Beta!
For what it is worth,I am attaching an apk which you can try out.
Best wishes.
Do press the Thanks button if you find this useful.
if you want a regular keyboard and powerful features, good ui + themes, good settings, language packs and dictionary packs, i offer you:
SmartKeyboard pro
Thanks sathkartha it worked for me.I guess swype doesn't provide updates. Am I right?? I am asking this because swype doesn't have my email address so if there will b update I will not get it.

In the process of searching for a good keyboard I have come across to the most intelligent keyboard that will ever produce. I will recommend everyone to give it a try. It is w10 keyboard, available for free in market.

SmartKeyboard Pro
I heard Swiftkey doesnt support the symbols and smileys you have with the stock keyboard..
In the search of a good keyboard, I tested many, but could find one that supports the Symbols key(like the SE Default Input). Also, I needed a keylogger for my mini pro. Finally, I decided to write my own input method, which meets my particular requirements It's no t so difficult, just check the SoftKeyboard example or the LatinIME from the Android source code.
Smart keyboard pro is my pick! super cool. just nice without other bla bla bla =)
Yes, SmartKeyboardPro is the best!
smart keyboard pro supports many languages, has many options in settings specialy for autocomplete and has a lovely backup for options. it learns new words and can add them to user dictionary. quick text is also very good feature for inserting big sentences or email address just by few characters.
I was using Anysoft Keyboard, and I thought it was nice. Currently I have been trying swype and also liking it. It tends to be better for bigger words, while some small words it makes more mistakes. One thing that would make it perfect would be to ALSO suggest when you are typing a word character by character, not only when you swype a full word..
SwiftKey Keyboard is the best for me
SmartKeybord Pro - The Best!
Smart keyboard pro works best for me too.
I've found the best is actually the official Android Gingerbread one...

[Q]Touch keyboards on Xperia Mini Pro?

Hi.
First, sorry for my bad english, I'm from Brazil, and I am not so good at grammar.
I haven't found anything like this, so:
There is any in-screen QWERTY keyboard on Xperia X10 Mini Pro?
Sometimes I'm using and I have to turn the phone, slide out and type. And I'm so lazy, and don't want to use that.
LatinIME is the most used qwerty soft keyboard in custom roms, but it will make u loose the symbol menu when using h/w keyboard.
and then there's probably quite a lot of them on the market too
Thanks!
I will search a little more.
