If I am already on SlideMe2, does this require a wipe?
I am assuming installation is basically the same...
1. Boot to recovery, run update.zip to get Clockwork
2. Install from SD > Choose zip > Update SlideM.zip
?

Very cool. And when you say "slimmed down", was anything removed? I hope it's Sense Gonna try this none the less since it seems things I want are working. Thanks Eugene, I may have to now buy you a soda!
Edit: Also, are you going to start adding the name and version of your ROMs to the About Phone section?

I meant to say "I hope Sense was removed"... if so, definitely giving this a try.

Theres no sense in that other rom.. or this one. I have done it.. I'm the first to announce that I have tried SlideM and its [email protected] Very clean, fast boot, straight to my favorite launcher. Bravo. Thanks!

Might try this out soon....im still loving the legend rom....
Btw hello everybody...ive been a luker for a while and decided to join up

I've been playing with this rom for a few minutes now. Getting use to ADW Launcher as I never tried it, but just happy I have no Sense!.

how long does this rom take to boot?

adb reboot was about 35 seconds from me hitting Enter and then me being able to make a phone call.
Also, 121mb free after installing all my apps back with this rom. So far so good. It was 133mb free after first boot.

it doesnt boot for me waited like 3 or 4 minutes then flashed to legend 2 slide and it booted

Root,
I notice in the OP is shows Root. Does this still require us to Root in recovery (Mount System), or does it now work within the OS?

Downloading asap, cant wait to test this out!

Not sure what you're asking. As long as you have already rooted and installed the eng build, then all you need is the update.zip file, which allows you to get clockwork recovery initially by hitting "Apply update.zip", and then you can apply the SlideM.zip. I did not need to mount anything, and you certainly don't need to "re-root" if you've done that already.

Re: (ROM)(SLIDE) SlideM with a Touch of Eclair *6/21/2010*
The only thing I personally miss is facebook contact sync .. I believe because the facebook for mytouch app is not included..
Eugene do you have that apk so I can just add it on?

I'm on SLIDEMEROOT2. If I want to remove or make changes to /System, I would have to go into clockwork recovery to mount the system then issue ADB commands (correct me if I'm wrong please LOL). I have some apps that require Root access to the system folder (Root explorer, Meta-morph too name a few) to make any changes, I know I can get into those folders within the OS but just can't make any changes. I'm really looking into themeing the Frameworks.apk but understand MTS isn't fully Rooted because of the Kernal being locked down. I was just wondering, I will just try this ROM and see what I can come up with. Thanks.

I'm really liking this ROM. It is fast. And not one FC yet Eugene will be getting a Pepsi soon.

Oddness... I tried flashing this ROM and I know it made changes due to losing sense launcher and gaining launcherpro... noticed missing stock HTC apps but no difference in free space, unresponsive SU and FC attempting to open accounts and sync

I post this For a Reason! You need the ENG-Build for the Recovery / Boot.img
But I've included the eng-boot.img in teh update.
Other than flash the eng-build by bootloader we don't have write access to the recovery..
The eng-recovery works better than the current one, and if you flash it all you have to do is unplug the usb & back in again.. no more trying to get it to see the device & make it some much more easier dealing with recovery mode!
Guys post up if this new build get wifi tether working.. Or if it allows your to delete stock apps through file explorers.

once again, to do that stuff you need to run the update.zip I post!
Once in ClockworkMod recovery, Mount system via the menu then remove what you need...
Ok, so I did the first posted root method. Now I need to flash to the eng. This will wipe all apps and settings on the phone? Then after I put the eng ROM on it I can go right from there and apply the SLIDE2.zip flash?

Now just for amusement purposes its possible to flash this with just root and not downgrading but we would have to do the hole loop thing again??
Thanks for all the work man this is awesome!!

NEW mytouch slide root

hi... this post is for those who wants to root the mytouch quickly and easily without even using a computer. these directions will be step by step, because i know how frustrating it is when someone gives a broken step expecting you to fill in the blanks.
note
im not responsible for what happens to your phone. i am simply showing you hope when all else fails. now lets get started.
ALL CREDIT GOES TO CLOCKWORK FOR HIS UNBELIEVABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE ANDROID COMMUNITY. THANK YOU
first things first, you need a mytouch slide, your phone charging, rom manager free from the android market, universal androot which i will post the link below, and finally a custom rom from xda developers. pick anyone you like preferably cyanogen mod.
step 1. take the custom rom you downloaded from either your pc or from your phone: pc-> if you downloaded it off your pc, then you need to connect your phone to your pc and put the custom rom file on the root of your sd. you dont have to rename it, just leave as is. phone-> if you downloaded it off your phone, then i hope you heard of astro file manager from the market?! you need that to explore your sd card from your phone and find the custom rom on your downloads folder, and edit, move, to the root of your sd card. then paste.
step 2. now you need to get the universal androot apk from the link below. once you download it, make sure you put it anywhere on your phones sd card. once it's there, use astro once more to find that apk on your sd card and install it by clicking on it.
step 3 now all you need is rom manager free from the android market. i hope that you know how to find and install it.
now that you are all situated, the real part begins, and i will also explain why we are doing it this way along the process okay.
step 4 open up the universal androot apk on your phone and it should look pretty simple. the only thing you do here is make sure that root temporary(unroot after reboot) is checked. then hit root . you should get a sucess and the superuser apk showing up in your app drawer. if yes then proceed to step 5.
step 5 now that you have temporary root, this will give you permission to use root apks until reboot. luckily i found out that rom manager has the ability to flash clockwork recovery while your phone is still on. well this is what your going to do. open up rom manager, and the very top option is "flash Clockwork Recovery" hit this and it should install it. after that click on "install rom from sd card." find your custom rom that you put on here from before, and click on it, then check both boxes: backup existing rom, and wipe data and cache, and hit ok. now hit ok to go into recovery. if you get a superuser request at this point then congratulations, its working. allow it , and proceed to step 6 .
step 6 now your phone is restarting and should back up the system and start installing the custom rom. if for some reason it doesnt install right there, and takes you to clockwork recovery(blue words), then go to step 7. if not then step 8
step 7 if you are in clockwork recovery and dont know what the heck youre at, well in short, your at a screen where your allowed to install any rom meant for the mytouch slide including the 2.2 froyo. yay! navigation is simple if you know how. volume buttons are for navigation up and down, and the camera button on the right bottom is for selecting, while the power button at the top of the phone is to go back one. got it ? all you want to do is intall your custom rom if you havent yet. you might first want to do the wipe data/ factory reset, to make sure everything goes smoothly on your new rom. after that go back to the screen with all the options, and go to install zip for sdcard. then it is important to choose zip from sdcard, as i have no idea what the apply sdcard:update.zip will do to your phone. after you click choose update, you should be in a familiar area: your sdcard. find your custom rom and install it. it will work if its a complete and compatible rom for your phone. once done hit reboot system now and presto step 8.
step 8 ur done lol. enjoy your new rom. misc. if you ever want to go back into clockwork recovery, then go into your normal recovery by power + volume down while your phone is turned off. then hit recovery option. youll notice that you are at the normal recovery. push power+volume up for new set of options. theres an option call apply zip update. click on the and boom, you should pop up in clockwork recovery.
universal androot since i am a new user, i cannot post links but here is an attachment, and if your not signed in then you will find the program by going to 4shared.com and searching for UniversalAndroot-1.6.2-beta.apk uploaded by chrisjcj27. thanks and good luck

Followed your steps completely. After i get root and flash CW Recovery, I go to install the custom rom and make a Nandroid backup.........it restarts phone and take me to the phone with a question mark (i think thats what it was) and then reboots normally into the stock rom. It says its failing to installl the update package which im assuming is CW Recovery.

try repeating the steps again. and make sure that everything goes right along the way. the slightest error will make this a no go.
ill go back and re check everything. this worked for me 3 times over. gimme a sec. ill make this work. sorry for the inconvenience oh by the way. can anyone confirm that they have tried this on a mytouch that hasnt recieved the new ota update. this is the only phone i have tested it on. im not sure if it has anything to do with it.
Tried it about 6 times now. Even downloaded terminal to ensure i have root before carrying on. Its not letting the update.zip that Rom Manager installs on the SD card run at all. Its saying its not signed and then it fails?
Androot is only able to give us a temporary root, therefore the bootloader is still locked and it will not allow us to actually get into CW at all. Correct?

Read through the working root method here.
This method was developed by ChiefzReloaded, a dev we all know and love. He knows his stuff.
The one posted in this thread seems easier, but simply will not work.

(NOT OFFICIAL) CM7 RC0 preview. update: 1/16/11 1:25pm

OK, It starts.
pjw111 asked me to do this, and everything needed was merged into the source tonight.
All credit for this goes to Cyanogen, and all of Team Douche.
This is in no way an official build, however it is built directly from CM source, which can be found on CM Github. I dont own a Slide, so I cant do any testing, but in limited testing pjw111 has reported that everything is working so far. As more gets updated in the source, I'll try and post updates for you guys.
Signed-Update-Zip:
http://www.multiupload.com/AW6SXTCY4C
gapps:
http://www.multiupload.com/GYSMO91ZPM
Directions:
Apparently, you can flash this through recovery 2.x on the slide without issue, so no need for S-Off and fastboot.
Just reboot into recovery as you normally would and flash the rom, followed by gapps.
Still with me? Good.
You'll need a full data wipe or it wont boot. Any future updates will be no wipe updates.
Reboot, and enjoy CM7 on your MyTouch Slide.
Reserved for possible use.
option94 rules in my book!!! Running like a charm.
CM7 is leaps and bounds ahead of CM6!
gona grab a copy of this and test it out
Downloading now... Is the attached recovery image clockwork 3? Does it format the nand ext? Is that why it's needed?
Bah! I want to try this out, but I haven't gotten S-OFF... yet...
Lazy D:
And I already have an idea of what CM7 looks like, having seen other previews, BUT maybe some screens? or Youtube?

Its clockwork 3. Its needed because cw2 wont flash 2.3 for some reason.
Also, If you started already, I forgot to mention that you'lll need to do a full wipe or your phone wont boot.

No thanks...I'll wait until a non S-OFF version hits! Arayray's Revamped is doing me just fine!
Also, IM gonna call it a night. I'll look through tomorrow and see If i cant help out with any issues that you guys run into. I dont really see many occuring though, this rom is pretty damn stable apparently.
You may not need s-off, I just have to figure out how to get cw3 into an update zip thats compatible. Not having the phone makes that a little difficult for me. If someone can do that before me, please send me a PM and let me know.
I flashed this through cwm 2.x with no issues at all.

Is there any way to get the Galaxy tab email.apk to work with Bionix? I was able to switch it out with the stock email.apk, but it would forceclose after about 30 seconds every time. I'm not sure how many people have actually seen or used it but it's pretty cool. May be beating a dead horse here I don't know (No offense Eugene).
cleaned cache partiton after switching that out
Thanks Bartek25, I'll give it another shot.
let me /us know how it go
but if it doesent work its not compatible and more modifications are required to run it and i cant help You past this :> and i never ran bionix so i cant help even more

Nope, does not seem to want to work with Bionix. It starts out playing nice but than fc's constantly. Thanks for tying to help though.
Have you tried this one?

Yes, that was my first attempt. The second time around I used SGS tools. Both worked for a very short period of time before the continual fc's. Thank you though! Hopefully at some point it will work.
have you try fixing permissions in clockwork rec
Hmm that's strange... never had these issues with either version. If you really want it that bad, try starting from scratch. ODIN to stock, flash your rom of choice, then apply your email mod. Hopefully it works out for you, the Tab email app is pretty cool.

Not exactly sure what that entails? I think I did see that at one point but I'm not sure how I got there or what boxes needed to be checked?

Are you using the tab email.apk? If so have you used it with Bionix 1.3.1? If I knew that other users were able to use it with this rom, I probably would Odin back and try it. Just not sure I want to take the time if it's not compatible with this rom, thanks.
Ok Man I Know how to mak it work....
Get SGS Tools
After Installed, open it
hit Upgrade apps
in the list, select Email app from Galaxy tab
chek the box >> i`ve read the above text.. and hit ok...
all set

Thanks, that was my second attempt, but still got the fc's doing it that way. I then went back to SGS tools and tried to revert back to the old email.apk at which point it says it can't revert back. I gave up for now, I had to delete the tab email.apk through Root Explorer and find the old one here on XDA. I read somewhere else that it's not compatible with some roms. As much as I'd like to have it on my phone I'm not sure I'm willing to give up Bionix at this point. I'll probably try again after the next Team Whiskey release, whenever that happens to be.
Zero FC's that way, clear your data, wipe cache, and dalvik cache then try to install it.

[Q] Freezes on HTC logo - could use some help

So I was trying to update my old energy ROM to ICS and I'm kind of hosed. Got instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362759
Basically:
- Root your device
- Install a custom recovery
- Install the downloaded ROM .zip found in post #3
- Make sure to do a Factory Reset / Wipe before installing ROM
For the record, these steps are out of order. Steps 4 and 3 are switched and I didn't notice till it was to late. What I did next was do the factory reset and then try to re-install the ROM. Everything seemed to go fine until it was time for a reboot. Then it froze on the HTC logo.
Could use some ideas as to what my next move should be. Since it was a previous version of Energy ROM + Faux kernel, phone is definitely rooted, etc. Perhaps I should start over with a stock Gingerbread ROM?

Apparently I am also supposed to flash the kernel as per this thread which I've finally found:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645641
In order to find it, I had to search for it using Google as this forum software is so haphazard. Also not mentioned in the instructions. Will try this next if I can get at it through just the custom recovery.
Still wrong. Coming from GB and going to ICS you need to flash the ICS RUU in bootloader. I don't know how many times its been mentioned or how many other threads have been started because of this issue.

First im not resbonsible for anything that can happen to your phone this what i do if it didnt work im not resbonsible.
If you are rooted via HTCDev S-On Hboot 1.490018 and up you need to Run a command prompt and flash the boot.IMG that comes with the ROM (if not included extract the ROM and search for its in the .Zip file then move that file into a folder in the Root lf ur C Drive put your phone into fastboot mode (remove battery then put it back then press lock/on button and the volume up button at the same time) then connect it to your PC and run command prompt press on start and search for cmd then run it and type the following :
Cd c:\android (or whatever you named the folder)
After that type:
Fastboot flash boot boot.IMG
After its done unplug your phone from ur PC reboot it and it should work perfectly (it may stay at the HTC Logo for 10-20 minutes)
HOPE IT WORKS ENJOY!

Awesome. Thanks for the tip. Will see what I can make of it.
I notice that there is a file, PH85IMG.zip in the same directory as the modded ROM. The name isn't very descriptive. Clue?

I don't want to put down energy rom, but it hasn't been updated since the original leak, and the instructions were never clarified - he simply never explained the PROPER way to switch from gingerbread to ICS. ARHD gives a better explanation, but I think post #2 in the everything ICS thread gives the best and links to everything you should need..
You have to be careful anytime you are switching to a totally new OS. All the devices I know, switching from 2.1 to 2.2, or 2.2 to 2.3.. or to 4.0+.. it is USUALLY not just a "flash over the old OS".. just something to keep in mind for any of your other or future devices..

Well as far as I know, it ain't like he is getting paid much so it would seem to be a miracle if any of this stuff gets updated. ;-) If I don't have this figured out by Tuesday, I'll use it as an excuse to get a new phone. This one has a crack or two in the screen anyways.
Still, even so I would MUCH rather get this one working again. 'specially since I'm between software gigs & cash is tight. If Energy ROM hasn't been updated and there's a better and/or more complete set of instructions maybe I should be looking at something else. Will continue hunting through these forums for info but can use all the help I can get since this forum software ain't exactly friendly. Probably best to see if I can get it back to stock on ICS and then work forward from there. Having said that, I have an RUU that I am working with, its: PH85IMG_RUBY_ICS_35_S_TMOUS_2.14.531.3_Radio_1.14.550L.17DC_30.78.550L.15_release_259626_signed.zip
Tried just flashing it but apparently there's more to it than that.
Latest problem is that I can't get it re-locked without enabling USB debugging. Can't do this since I don't have a working OS. Can it be done from CLI or recovery?
Uh.... hmmm... mysterious. Seems to have fixed itself. Will try a restart and see what happens.

I was saying that there are some other options, other roms, that have better instructions and have been updated fairly well.. that is all.
The thread I was talking about by glacierguy is here - it links to tons of resources and should answer most questions you may come up with. For example it has "Relock phone (fastboot oem lock)" you can issue fastboot commands while your phone is booted into the bootloader - so this has nothing to do with usb debugging..
There is tons of information here, I know it isn't absolutely organized, but there are a lot of guys here who tried to make the information as easy to find as possible..
Did u try to restart it again it usually takes a couple of times but anyway should either return to stock or use the RUU for the ICS ROM

If you're.gonna flash that last file you mentioned, you need to rename it to PH85IMG, since its a stock ruu and not just a flashable Rom.
Sent from an Amaaaaaazing place :-D
Woohoo! I've succeeded in getting the aforementioned RUU installed. Should be much less of a problem from here forward.

Of course you are responsible. Heaven forbid anyone should take responsibility for their own actions or anything crazy like that.
Since English may not be your first language, I'll be clear. I'm just kidding.

Now that I have the RUU, could use some examples of projects that are more up-to-date so that I can move forward.

If you want cutting edge(these both have features no other rom has added yet, and are very current update wise) and like the senseui, try remix's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673609 or if you want with less sense and more of an aosp-ish feel go for his http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623184
ARHD is what is being used for the base for many roms because it is solid and bugless, energy has more features that he had included in his gingerbread rom.. I've heard good things about capromce, but I have no idea what features he has added that are or aren't included in the others..
Heheheh and its not my first language thats why you might see a lot of grammar and/or writen mistakes, just for the futur before you flash any new ROM Back-Up you current or the original ROM just in case something like this happen so you can restsore it without worrying and hope i helped
