Question about: How to change easily OEM Case? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I have a question, can you give me the solution?
Look, the other day I dropped the phone, on the asphalt, I have some major bruises on the phone, in the case near the screen saver and power button in each of the four corners of the case and also to finish the play, a peck on the screen protector. The phone still works fine. But I wanted to leave it spotless, because the phone only has 1 month of life. I have found over the network, the OEM case for the x10.
I've been watching the tutorial to remove the phone, but my question is: I have to remove all components of the phone just to change the cover or there is some disassembly system so that it removed the motherboard and the screen to change the case?
I hope I was clear in my question, because my native language is not English.
Greetings and thank you very much in advance

It's definitely not an easy job.
What you should have done is bought a hard gel case/skin for your phone. It saved my phone a few times already. If you do decide to do this, get a case!
Take a look here to see what is involved in disassembly

P.S. The search function works quite well here.

Replace Vario Housing

Ok, so as the title suggests, i'm looking at replacing the housing of my vario (cause its scratched to hell - keys in pockets, and the odd drop )
After looking at http://cnn.cn/shop/8525-blacksilver-full-housing-p-198.html was wondering whether these were suitable for straight swap? as obviously the keypads are different between the herm100/200/300 but i'd keep the original in as its in good condition, and wouldnt mean i'd need to swap the pcb underneath either?
Or am I barking up the completely wrong tree so to speak?
Any help appreciated...especially for you Vario owners who have changed their housings...any problems you came across etc.
Cheers!
bump surely someone must have done this already?? all these reads, and no replies
SEARCH THE FORUMS BEFORE POSTING THREADS
kthxbye =p
i've already searched....n yeh it mentions swapping with an orange 3100 housing...but thats something i'd haveto find on ebay etc...doesnt mention the 8525 housing on cnn..... so was wondering if the keypad fits or not, as the front faceplate is scratched to hell so would need to swap the whole casing...not just the middle/rear panels.
Try this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OEM-Housing-f...oryZ3728QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
Cheers for the link Paul. That listing seems to claim that you can replace a vario with that housing, so might aswell just bite the bullet and go for it I'll probably look at getting it from CNN still, as they will work out slightly cheaper (~£32 compared to ~£45)

Vario II to be more precise. The Vario is a HTC Wizard.
Any success with replacing? Is it hard to do? I have some scratches myself, and would like to change the housing. Have a TYTN
I havnt had chance to order the new housing yet, as i was skint until payday I'm going to hopefully get it ordered within the next couple of days.... I'll keep you posted on how it goes!
Still no one with experiences?
On this site there is a GPS antena available for TyTn... can we then enable GPS on the TyTn??
http://cnn.cn/shop/8525tytnhermes-antenna-p-1615.html
I've seen an HTC Hermes Case on this site:
http://www.cellphonepartszone.com/Products.asp?shopxpbe_id=64&id=281
but it's not completely clear to me on how to order and pay... (i'm Italian)
Hope this will be useful and you'll understand how to order the case...
Still no one with experiences on changing the housing?
Sei semplicemente un grande..la cover originale è impossibile da trovare!!
However no succesfully experience to swap the housing because in order to be able to change them (Cingular/HTC 8525 and also from Orange but i can't remember the name) with a TyTN, because the internal keypad membrane of the buttons at the top of the phone are (hope for now) impossible to find anywhere. I'm still looking for..

I think enabling GPS is a little more complex than that - there were some required connections on the chipset that are not connected - try searching this forum...
Before post remember the topic of the thread: HOUSING

After I had changed the housing the screen doesn´t change into landscape mode
Hi!
After I had changed the housing the landscape mode isn´t activate itself while openning the keyboard. It did only once. It seems like the problem is of physical matter but I checket out all again and it seems to be all as it was. I don´t have another complains about functionality.
For those who wants to change the housing I have to say that that takes alot of time. And before you will waist money for a new housing make the following steps:
1. Look a this one verry carefully and be sure you have all tools you need.
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Docs_Tutorials/Wizard_Service_Manual.pdf
2. Think that you will need some stuff that you will put between new housing and touchscreen. (I took the old one but it isn´t a good idea).
3. You will need some glue to glue the old parts to the new housing (obviously the housing is more than just this plastic case).
If somone could give me an good advice related to the screenmode while opening I will aprecciate that.

Your device does not rotate anymore because you have not moved the magnet from the old casing to the new one. The magnet operates the rotate switch. See here:

Replacement Hero Housing/Facia

Hey guys,
My white unlocked Hero has sustained some nasty body scratches plus it is starting to turn yellow. I'm considering a full body replacement. I was only able to find this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/GENINUE-HOUSING-FACEPLATE-FACIA-GOOGLE-G3-HTC-
HERO-WT_W0QQitemZ280402919652QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item41495100e4
Do you think that it's going to be as good as the original one? The seller claims that it's genuine, What do you think?
I found a site that has both the black and white housing for the gsm hero.
http://www.truesupplier.com/faceplate-housing-cover-for-htc-hero-g2-touch-white-color-pr-18489.html
How do I know that it's genuine? or at least as good as the original HTC cover?

The web page is called "truesupplier.com". OF COURSE its genuine
How hard is it to change the housing anyway?
by changing housing you will probably break phone trust me ... and truesupplier housing is oem not genuine by looks of it..
He might not break it if he's careful, and has the proper tools. I've taken apart a few phones without causing any problems.
So unless i'm handy at doing these things, I should not do it myself?
What if I have our local HTC agent do it? Will it at least look as good as new?
i have the white hero and would love to put the black case on it.
the site mentioned above says it comes with the tools needed to change the cover, has any tried doing this?
i would love to go for it but don't want to f*&k my phone up!
i think its not so difficult to switch the cover if you take off the backcover there are 6 screws than open the case from the top of the mobile phone and pull it off
but becarefull maybe there are flatcables from die lcd or the trackball just make it slow and be carefull all the time
and maybe you can find a dissembly how to in google
peace
this site has pics of disassembly of a hero but it's in russian.
http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/htc_hero/
If you have to pry the phone open use something plastic so you dont damage the original case. Just in case the ebay housing is rubbish.

whats the difference between oem and genuine
any1 bought replacement white hoising? mine is getting yellow. so need to buy a back cover.
Thinking of buying one myself. I accidentally dropped mine on the tiled floors of my workplace toilets LOL (luckily not IN the toilet). so now there's a little nick on the top left corner of the case.
If this is your first time you will probably scratch the covers but nothing more. You need to be very patient and i will suggest take a look to a good tutorial.
iopened my hero 1 week ago and its so easy maybe in the next days i will upload a video in youtube
bye
I bought the ebay one. It's surprisingly well built (Not Teflon though).
The sad part is that my touch screen got screwed up during the installation. The bottom part of the screen is no longer functional and the sensitivity is messed up overall. Did the replacement in a local phone shop.
Now trying to find a way to fix it.

That would be greatly appreciated!
hmm do you want to sell me your backplate of your old case? i need it please
and to fix your problem : you need a new display glas with digitizer
to remove your old glas: use a hairdryer, you have to heat up the old clue of the old glas and than you can push it easily out of the frame but be carefull not to heatup the frame, the plastic can deform, maybe you can cover it with aluminium foil from the kitchen
the video of the dissembly will be uploaded tomorrow by me
good night guys!

Where can I find new display glass for HTC hero? or can I just buy something generic?
I don't mind giving you my old backcover though it's in a very bad shape (which is why I wanted to replace it in the first place).

scratches on the screen?

How does one go about removing them? I've done a google and XDA-Forums search and found that there are numerous answers all seemingly discounted by any number of people:
toothpaste, no good for capacitive screens
Displex sure, THEY say it's good for the TP2, but so many people say not
So, anyone have any ideas.
And, yes, I know, screenguards are great and the holy grail. I don't have one. So, please, I know I am asking for a cause that I probably could have prevented, but every time I put a screenguard on my device, it was much too mushy and I tried a lot of them.
Thanks in advance.
I would also like to know how to remove the scratches on the screen. The screen guards make the touch screen less sensative. Theres got to be some type of wax or something.
I've used the screen guard that came with my TP2 since day one. My screen is still pretty darn sensitive....
I have skinomi on my tp2 and although it takes alot of patience to put it works flawlessly...ive tried scratching it with keys and the thing just wont scratch!! its awesome..its a bit on the expensive side if you get the entire skin for the phone like i did but its worth the money in my opinion.
go to skinomi.com
I guess T-Cut might work, i used it on my dads samsung and it cleared up the screen some.
When i was a kid we used to wear swatch watches which always got scratched up, we used to use Duraglit made by Brasso which is a metal polish wadding...kinda like cotton wool with a light abrasive in it, which worked wonders!
Something with very light abrasive properties(like toothpaste) should do it but watch out for any solvents and chemicals in the product that may react with or even MELT the plastic!!!!!
most things like T-Cut scratch remover just take a lot of time and patience.
I anything works for you re-post and let us know!
Actually Displex tells you not to use its product on resistive touch-screens.
Anyway, I just ordered iDrops about a week ago and have been trying it for the last day with no results, at all. I've tried variable amounts of pressure, dozens of applications as the instructions say and I've only hurt my phone. All it does it put a strange texture on your phone that makes it grainy and more susceptible to scratches. Even my stylus scratches the phone, now! I had to use a wet cloth to get the graininess away.
My recommendation is not to bother with iDrops. It seems to not work for the TP2.
Hmm, its just an idea but I've been repairing my windscreen today using special resin that cures in direct sunlight. I must say it works pretty well, it's hard to notice the repair. I would try t-cut or other mild abbrasive to get rid of light scratches and fill really bad ones with that resin. Next comes a good screen protector to hide any imperfections.
thanks, but WHAT website

I see your post, yet, I have no idea what website to which you refer. Nevermind, didn't realize it was in your header.
Why do you not send instructions with the order? IF you're selling replacement parts why then must a customer have to contact you for replacement instructions?
He is just advertising himself. Just find the best price on buy it, you can find the HTC service manual on google.
Not disputing that fact

Just questioning that if they sell the parts, why must the instructions be emailed separately?
Bumping because I need the same thing resolved...
Questions:
1) Anyone know a good, semi-reputable site to replace the front screen.
2) Is the front plastic considered part of the LCD Screen, or do they come apart separate? (The scratch on my phone is purely on the outer-most section of the screen, with no damage to the image display) -- I ask as some phones i've seen have an "LCD Display" followed by a "Cover Screen")
3) Regardless of #2's answer, what am I looking to buy (The technical/semi-technical name)? Closest I've seen is LCD Digitizer, but I'm not sure if i need that component or the LCD Screen.... cover.... portion..
Unfortunately the part i saw was $124, and I happen to have insurance on the phone if it does indeed get that expensive, but I just hope the parts are separate ;-)
Thanks,
-Lee

I am nearly positive you do not need to replace the LCD. You only need a new digitizer (that is the name of the layer that recognizes touch) which you can find for around $25 online!

Correct me if I'm wrong but changing this digitizer would void warranty if I were to change it myself ? ?
Go to At&t and see if they will replace it for you if you buy the digitizer. If not ask At&t or find a reputable place that does, ive seen for around $50 which was suggested to me by at&t. It's worth the money trust me! When I had my old LG Incite, I tried replacing the digitizer because my screen was scratched and ended up breaking the lock and camera buttons as well as the touch screen. Since then every phone i've had gets a case and screen protector from the day I lay eyes on it. If the case and screen protector are their after I get my phone I wont use it till their on. Scratches just annoy me but I guess i'm just odd lol.

[Q] TG01 Digitizer problem

On my tg01 my screen does not work on the right upper corner, about 20% of the screen size. If i bend the phone, dragging the corners upwards or downwards, the screen start to work as i should for a small period of time. I must bend it very often, I'm afraid to brake it.
Does anyone know how to safe open the tg01?
What type of screwdriver should I buy?
Is there any tutorial with pictures?
Can I fix by myself the digitizer or I must replace the whole LCD?
Any tested suggestion will be hardly appreciated! Thank you!
Our TG01 has 4 Triwing screwdrivers under the battery cover, i bought a full set of these (sizes 1 - 4) but found none of them to fit so before we can open it up we need to find a triwing screwdriver or bit that fits. I think the best bet is to try one of those nintendo ds or wii triwing screwdrivers to see if those fit, i've seen loads on ebay. Keep meaning to buy one myself to try. If you manage to get those triwings off im guessing you'll next need a torx set usually sizes 5 - 10 will do for phones but you may be better off getting a full set. As for guides / tutorials on dissasembling i had a look myself but couldnt find anything.
Best of luck to you and if you manage to find a triwing that fits please share with the rest of us ;-).
Orange service is the answer
my tg01 got a new imei. the problem was the mother board, not the digitizer. they changed it in orange service. now i test the device to see if it works ok. my old dragon was network free, this one is orange locked.

[Q] Regarding the Bezel

Hello,
I just bought the vibrant; however, the bezel is slightly cracked. I wanted to replace it, but every dismembering video of the phone I checked removes the motherboard. Is there any way in which I can remove the bezel without messing with the motherboard, screen, or any other components around it?
Also, the battery cover is scratched. I wanted to buy the replacement cover but there is one available for the i9000 not the t959. I read that it will fit, but I just wanted to confirm it.
I apologize if I sound like a noob or posted this in the wrong section. I spent 3 hours searching for an answer, but found nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Please? Any help would be appreciated.
I don't think you really have an option. After looking at some screen repair guides for the Vibrant it appears the bezel has a panel that goes under the soft keys (see attached image). Also, I've never had my phone get damaged so I never have had to tinker with my physical device. What you could do is buy a case that covers the front bezel like the one I use. It's about 5$ and will hide your bezel + protect it. That's all I can suggest, hope this helps...
Also, not sure about the i9000 back cover working on the Vibrant but here is a brand new back cover you can buy for the vibrant for about 6$.
The only way to replace the bezel is to remove the motherboard. Also, I use i9000 covers for my vibrant. They work beautifully. (I have a chrome one one! ^.^)
Sent from my T959 using XDA App
Thanks for the help guys. All the electronics I have don't have a single scratch on them, literally, I baby them. I bought this from craigslist; however, I didn't see the scratch during that time. I am very irritated atm.................regardless, thanks for the help.
I was wondering, If I buy a bezel, would somebody be willing to replace it for me? Obviously, I will pay you for the job. If yes, I would greatly appreciate that. Please send me a private message if interested.
