Corrupt files - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I searched through everywhere but did not find a real good answer.
On my HD2 Phone Memory I have a few files that have strange filenames with strange characters. I want to remove them but then it says it can't cause the file is corrupt. (Don't think they are corrupt, just problems with the filenames) I also tried to remove the whole directory but then it removes all files in the directory but not those strange ones and then it can't remove the directory cause it is not empty. Also tried to rename them, but it also is telling me the files are corrupt.
The only option I found that probebly will work is the Hard Reset, but I don't want to do that since I want to remove them for my backup program wich also can't handle these files.
Now, I tried the original explorer, the Resco explorer and Total commander.
Does anyone has an idee how to remove them?
thanks
Rom: Artemis 18 NLD
Radio: 2.10.50.08_2

Is there nobody with an idea?

are these in your device memory or on the sdcard ....
if they are in Device memory I would say a Hard Reset is your only option to fix it, but if you have corrupt files in device memory , you may have a hardware issue ...
If you have corrupt files on your SD card, copy everything you can to your pc and then format the card ... and then put your stuff back ...
If it does it again, in either place, you may have some hardware problems ...
OR, this could be too, had it on a guys phone the other day, PC infected with a virus that keeps trying to spread to the phone every time it is plugged into the PC ...

watcher64,
Thanks for the answer,
It is in device memory and it is not a hardware issue since it is only from one app. YouTube. Obviosly it is the caching (windows/YouTube)
I use an other YouTube Application now. But the other files I can't remove. I did not want to hard reset since I don't want to reinstall all the stuff. Eventualy I will reinstall with a newer ROM. But I was planing to see how stable this rom is and just try using it for at least 3 months. I can backup everything with excluding that specific directory. But I just will keep trying to remove those files.
So if there is anyone out there that knows how to remove those files.....
Are there tools for this filesystem, (wich filesystem is it?)

Cant open the Android Files on the SD Card ?

Hai!
So I just copied the Android Froyo files directly onto my SD card, and when I try to open them on my HTC HD2 I recieve an error that the file cant be opened and I should try to reinstall it.
Any help ?
Bai!
When you unzip the downloaded zipped file on your PC, you should end up with an android folder. It's that folder that you need in the root of your SD.
It's detailed very clearly how to install and run Android on every single build page that I've read. You should start where you downloaded it from.

I did that, same error.
Anyonez ?
Please
We're not mind readers. What exactly did you do and what was the error?
ALright:
- I copied the folder to my SD Card on the HD2.
- I go to 'Start' -> File explorer -> And then I select the audio file thing and after that the file to start the Android itself.
When I do the last step, I get an error that says:
The file "CLRCAD/HARET" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's componets cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.."
Search for sdkcerts and install that on your phone. That should fix your problem.

Does it matter where I extract the file to ?
Do I have to put it on my SD card or on my HD2 program files ?
THANKS!
Tried both locations, getting an error while installing the .cab:
'Installation of SdkCerts.cab has failed.'

Make your own topic please.
So what point I am at:
- I copied the Android folder to my SD Card on the HD2.
- I go to 'Start' -> File explorer -> And then I select the audio file thing and after that the file to start the Android itself.
When I do the last step, I get an error that says:

-------------------
Then this person told me to download a .cab that would fix all the problems, and when I wanted to install it I got the error:
'Installation of SdkCerts.cab has failed.'
--------------------
And now I dont have a CLUE what to do! Lol
I am guessing you are running a stock windows mobile rom? You need to either run a custom rom or find "Advanced Configuration Tool" and install it so you can enable the rom to run all unsigned applications. Then you can run the android apps to boot it.
It is in the misc. section. More info: http://www.touchxperience.com/en/applications/advanced-configuration-tool.html
Uhm, where can I find a custom ROM :$?
I tried that Advanced Config, but when I try to run it on my phone it just gives me the error:
The file "AdvancedConfig" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's componets cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.."
**** it, I will just peform a hard reset
Making a back-up of my contacts at this moment.
Peformed a Hard-Reset and the Android and all other files are working FKING GREAT!
Love you guys!
If you get that problem again, you should install an app called "bsb tweaks" (or a similar app) and set it to "allow unsigned"
this should allow you to install things that you couldnt before...........
Glad you got it sorted.
Thanks, John, for helping me out!

Can't delete directory on Internal Storage

tl;dr `rm -rf <directory>` returns "Directory not empty"
I noticed that the old folder for Google Currents [/storage/sdcard0/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.currents] kept showing up regardless of how many times I 'cleaned it' with the app SD Maid. ES File Explorer returns that it contains 7 folders and contains 0 bytes and cannot be deleted.
Instead of letting an app handle it, I just mounted my phone with go-mptfs and decided to `rm -rf` from there. That returns "Directory not empty". There's two folders each with the same amount of sub-folders with similar names. Both contain files that are registered as 4GB with crazy characters as their name [according to my file manager]. `ls -al` won't list anything in any of the directories, but it will spit out that it can't find anything.
`rm -rf` through adb shell spits out the same error as before and Windows Explorer shows the same files with 4GB sizes. Despite the files appearing to be deleted through a file manager they still appear on the phone.
I'm completely stumped here. The only idea I've come across that makes a little sense is fsck, but I'd like to hear other ideas before I venture into unknown territories.
Ideas?
I have had I think the same issue with fders in a few occasions. For a while what I was doing was just renaming them BAD. Since it would not let me delete them. I had the same kind of issues where something in the folder would just refuse to be deleted. I THINK some part of the file got corrupted between doing something on a windows machine and my phone.
After I had a few BAD, BAD1, Etc files I finally decided to back up all my WANTED/NEEDED files and apps or whatever I had on my sdcard (internal) to a PC. This took a while with almost the whole sdcard filled. Once it was done I was then able to go into recovery and format my sdcard (internal) via cwm recovery. Then I restored all my files/folders I wanted/needed back to phone. It is the ONLY WAY I was able to get rid of it. Hope this helps ya.

Thanks for the idea! I forgot about CWM's ability to format the storage it detects. I feel that may be the way I have to go, but I'd like someone to comment on the fsck idea first.

Hi… I also experiencing same problem like you.
Do you manage to delete those file without going through format feature via CWM Recovery?
You can also try the file manager from mrrobinson aroma.
It loads from recovery...so, could work.

[Q] Not copying files?

Greetings,
Not sure if this something Ive done when rooting and putting busybox on, but im trying to backup the entire contents of my sdcard to my desktop.
The files start copying, but at some point it fails and most of the folders of high interest are empty on the desktop. I need my titanium backup and mybackuppro, rom backups, etc. What it looks like I have to go into each of these folders and copy manually.
I just want to select all, copy, paste and be done with it.
Has anyone had an experience like this?
same here.
and can see not all folders/files' and even worse: i see dfferent folders with windws explorer, total commander mtp and total commander adb... only on the device itself i can see everything correct...
dn't know what it is, never seen before...
I made some progress here. Im preparing for a firmware upgrade which wipes, so I need this backup.
I noticed that from the root, if I drag one folder alone, it will copy that with all sub-folders properly.
It's only when you copy multiple folders that it fails.
Maybe this is solved in the firmware upgrade to HBOOT 1.35. I will report back here when complete.

This appears to be fixed now after the firmware upgrade. Copying all files without any recursion problems

[Q] A little help with rar files

Hi,
I'm relatively new to Android and I'd like your feedback on a problem I'm facing using unrar programs on my Note II.
I tried to unrar some files I threw from my pc experimenting with 3-4 programs available at Google Play to see if it can be done correctly. While everything seems to work ok, the filesize of the end file is exactly the same as if I was doing the job at my pc, and the name and file extension (Matroska file in my example) is written correctly in the created file under properties, when I try to play it it doesn't work for some reason.
Of course if I unrar the same files at my pc and throw the end file inside the pc, then everything is ok. For some weird reason, while the unrar process seems to be done correctly in my phone, the end file cannot be played.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5yZXNvbmFuY2VsYWIudW5yYXIiXQ..
I use this ,not a single problem so far,it can support multiple files as well.
I have installed exactly the same program atm in my Note II!
I don't know if the problem is with the program though. I'm trying to unrar multiple rar files to create the mkv video. The operation is done correctly as I said (or at least it seems so) but the mkv file cannot be played. The filesize and the name of the endf ile is exactly the same as if I was doing the operation in my pc, but for some reason the file cannot be played.. :/
Also I noticed that if I try to copy this file in my pc, or move/copy it somewhere else inside the phone I can't!
I can only delete it..
It could be that just one file is missing the.rar extension in that case you have to rename it into.rar.
And it's better to put all of the multiple files in one folder.
Thanks for your feedback guys I found what was the issue. I need to make one clarification though so if you can help, you'd help me understand why this happens.
I've done the internal/external swap memory flashmod on my Note II, and I was trying to unrar/write initially on the now external card(but in reality it's the internal memory without the mod). So when I perform the operation in the "external" card the created file cannot play.
When I try to do it in the now internal(but in reality sd card/external memory) everything works just fine.
Is there any limitation to begin with with using unrar programs in the external memory? Or it might be an issue/bug with the mod quite possibly?
Thanks in advance

Where did my folders and files go?

All the files and folders on my Galaxy Note 3's internal and external storage have reverted to what appears to be the defaults, all the photos (DCIM folder), videos, downloaded files, apk's, setup files, language files and who knows what else are gone, just vanished, not visible in Windows nor in Solid File Explorer, some apps are missing their language files or data files.
The phone was plugged in to USB on a WIN7 PC and the explorer window seemed to freeze, eventually I had to unplug the phone and now when I reconnect or look with a file explorer there must be >40 folders and thousands of files missing.
So what happened? Where are all the files? Are they recoverable?

This can be a files coruption, most of thing can cause data losage, like some tweaks, boosting apps, also hardware problems.
I know one LG bello user which changed few sdcards because of the rom. That was a bug which destroy sd.
Files are not recoverable, also I suggest not only to you, upload your files(pics, videos, other data) to cloud services because you never knows what can happens with the device you can drop it into water or to throw it in a deep abyss
Always keep files on safe place.
MEGA, Google drive, mediafire, or any other.

This just happened again, luckily my photos are backed up to the cloud but how does this keep happening? Has anyone else had this happen?
I'm kinda amazed that it actually happened again and wasn't a glitch and that no-one else seems to have reported something similar. I'm sure now I can cause it to happen on command.
(I'm using MTP on 5.1.1 Resurrection Remix Rom.)
Maybe you can open your files via cardrider?
