[ROM]mySlide-1.0.2 - myTouch 3G Slide Android Development

mySlide-1.0.2
YOU PROBABLY DON'T WANT THIS...DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!!
This is just what I want, not necessarily what you want http://www.mediafire.com/?tstgikwhfezj6ph
This Rom will mostly be unsupported and unmaintained.
Flash at your OWN RISK.
What it is:
Stock slide rom.
added busybox
added netcat (busybox nc isn't good enough for me)
added bash
added htop
removed link toolbox->df (prefer the one in busybox)
removed link toolbox->rm (prefer the one in busybox)
changed the default animated boot ADVERTISEMENT and jingle
pngcrushed and zipaligned apks (with the execption of one) to save some space
Kangs:
what isn't.
maybe a few more little changes I forgot.
changes:
from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1:
added a2sd (from eugene373's smr5r1. breaks boot animation)
added default themes back.
from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2
added e2fsck
mySlide-1.0.0-signed
mySlide-1.0.1-signed
mySlide-1.0.2-signed
Themes in this are broken (1.0.0 only). If you want the default themes back then flash this...
themes-signed.zip

hey dumfuq glad to see you over on the slide section now. can we expect some overclocked kernals from you like on the g1?

I sure hope so, but only time will tell.

That would be sick wonder how high this processer can go?

Not sure why you say that (in those words), but this does look decent!
Also, noob question, but are the stock ROMs (apps included) not zipaligned by default?

Yup they were already zipaligned. At least the ones I just checked
Honesty I didn't even look first. The crush actually takes off about 10Mb though.

yo dumfuq quick question... what exactly is required in editing a kernel to allow for overclocking and undervolting?

Not exactly sure if this is what your asking but basically...
You need the kernel source code to edit (the legend kernel source has the espresso board files),
A handy dandy text editor (like vim),
a cross-compiler (There is one under prebuilt/linux-x86/toolchain in an AOSP or cyanogenmod build environment),
and a linux environment (cygwin might work not really sure).
1. download source
2. unpack source
3. edit source
4. set environmental variables
4. compile source
5. make a boot.img or an update.zip
Obviously that's incredibly simplified, but hopefully you get the idea.

Ok quick question to the maker of this rom... How can i add the themes back to this rom? I want to put the themes back but i dont kno which folder to put them in. Also which folder is where i can change the boot animation you have installed to stock? Thanks

this actually seems like exactly what i want. My only question is does it support a2sd. if so.. i have a new rom

good question. a2sd is a plus

you don't put them in anywhere. you can download and install them. there's a thread already with a small pack of themes to download and install. You install like any other APK. Search this forum section for them.

The PNG crush killed the stock themes. If you want them back you can either boot to recovery and push the original ones to /system/app/ or just flash this...themes-signed.zip. That is just an update.zip that will copy the original themes back to your phone.

Nope, no a2sd.

any plans to add a2sd? I mean seriously... this would be PERFECT for my needs if it only had a2sd. I'm happy with a stock rom... i just want a2sd.

Nope. Currently I don't use a2sd, or this rom really. I made this just for an optimized stock rom to bounce back to when needed. Currently I'm running a customized version of eugene's cm6 as my daily driver.

in your experience.. how hard would it be for a novice to add a2dp to this? I did a quick google and found about 3 good pages of data.. but it seems pretty complicated (packing and repacking boot.img looks to be pretty intense on a windows machine without any experience from what i can tell). Do you think i should attempt this? LOL.

SK_007[Custom]ROM v1.1-[For xRecovery] -28/12/10-

Details:
This is my Second Custom Rom for X10(had to delete first one in just an hour as according to XDA Moderators there were some warez[paid apps] in it),thanks to zdzihu's xRecovery we can now flash user ROMS to our X10.This is a modified and customised SonyEricsson 2.1 2.0.2.A.0.24 Rom(rooted with JIT Enabled). The biggest reason why i created this ROM is that i have personally experienced some great changes(on a positive side) in this firmware(2.0.2.A.0.24),and i therefore created it with JIT Enabled, full root access and some usefula and entertaining apps and games.
Changes in this Firmware:
There are many differences but some of the most prominent ones are as follows:
1. It is stable and faster then ever.
2. Mediascape and timescape are now very fast and fluid, the lag is gone now.
3. The lock screen is acting better and now it is more fluid and doesnt lag at all.
4. And above all the biggest issue has finally been resolves by SE to most extent, that is the incall volume is finally loud and clear(much better then previous,(though not perfect, coz nothing is perfect is this world.lol!).
How to install:
Copy the zip file[SK_007(Custom)ROM V1.1.zip] to the root of your sd card, then reboot into xRecovery and click intall custom zip, then select SK_007(Custom)Rom V1.1.zip,it will start installing it,when finished reboot your device and Voila! its done,Enjoy.....
Whats included in this Rom:
1.It is based on the latest 2.0.2.A.0.24 Rom
(Firmware version 2.1-rooted-zdz)
(Baseband version 2.0.4.9)
(Kernel version 2.6.29
[email protected]#1)
2.Off course it is rooted and JIT Enabled
3.I have included a lot of useful apps and some nice games(all tested and working fine)the names of some prominent apps and games are below:
***ADW Launcher EX(Removed on the request of XDA Moderators,as it is a paid app)***
1.Launcher Pro
2.Games for e.g Asphalt 5,FIFA 10,Gangstar,Lets Golf,NFS Shift,Homerun Battle 3D,Angry Birds and a lot others...
4.Res mod 1.4 applied(Thanks to XperiaX10iUser)
5.Many more things, but feeling tired to tell about all of them, lol!

Note:I want to appologise Mods,as it wasnt my intention, but i did that as i was a bit unaware of some rules,i hope now this Rom is ok and i promise i will be careful in future.
Any chance you can do a backup of the new ROM, which is just Vanilla, with just Root and Jit enabled? No other modifications?
Think this would be handy for quite a few people

Community rom

I believe it's time for us mophos to come together and make an up to date community rom. We can use yays deodex base, shabby and i will cover the kernel. Loki could handle webtop, and of course everyone can theme/pitch in. This will be multiple roms of course. As much as I want cm7 I love webtop(loki thank you so much). I will eventually try to help with cm7 and maybe an aosp with webtop still attached and some cm7 goodies. The everything is there for people to start making roms. Repack yays newest how you like with an oc kernel maybe some scripts themes and edit and bam. You a dev. When I get the time I'll make a starter pack so everyone can contribute. Till then ask, Google and at least try instead of complaining.

I'm heading to Google right now. Is there a specific Linux distro better suited ex. 64 bit vs 32 bit?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
64 ubuntu.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
To build anything GingerBread and up you will have to have a 64 bit os - supposedly you can trick it, but I haven't had any luck with that so far on my old machine that is stuck in 32 bit hell.
I have 64-bit Windows 7 at home...I can assist if necessary...the only thing is that I'll need clear instruction on what to do..cuz I don't have a clue where to begin.

1) Start with getting rid of that Virus you have....Windows. Install a dual boat of Ubuntu x64 if you must have windows.
2) Install the Android SDK for Linux.
3) Google has a good walk through on how to build a Vanilla version of Android - not specific to any device - except maybe the emulator....but I'm not sure if it is or not.
3a. It takes a long time to download the source....
teh sdk is not needed. tahts if you wanna build apps. you guys do realize that to build a rom you dont need a certain os or anything? granted having linux makes it easier. now if you want to compile aosp or cm7 from source you will need 64 bit linux (preferably a debian/ubuntu based release)
all you need to make a rom is take the files off your phone and edit them.. there are a gazillion tweaks out there that could be brought over from other phones and made to work on it. the only roms you are going to be compiling at this time wont have voice/data just like cm7
Unless someone builds from motos src

UOT Kitchen
Hey joker - per your request:
UOT Kitchen - http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/ - An easy way to theme
How to use it for our Photon (some mods do not work on it unfortunately)
1) Copy your framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk from the framework and apps folder onto your computer's desktop
2) Whichever mod you want, click on the tab on the horizontal nav menu and click "Use this mod". Choose the mod. Ex: Battery Mod - Click Battery, Click "Use this mod", and then choose which battery icon you want. You can also change the color of the percentages as it drains down by using a HEX code at the bottom of the page. You can even see the preview so you know what the mod looks like.
3) When ready to cook your new theme, go to the File Upload tab
4) Select "AMEND SCRIPTING" on the left menu
5) Deselect "Generate Preview for Theme Chooser"
6) Select "System Files" from the right menu and upload the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk files. Ignore the other two.
7) Once they upload, go to summary and click "Submit work to kitchen" there'll be file name that you should probably write down so you don't forget it.
8) Wait for your theme to cook and once it's ready (it could take a while), download it and put it on your sdcard.
9) Get into ClockworkMod or Bootstrap Recovery and wipe both cache and dalvik cache
10) Install the UOT zip file
11) Reboot and enjoy your new theme
you want edify scripting, amend should have been phased out in cwm 3.x
By mistake I did edify scripting and I got an error when trying to flash the UOT zip. Then again, I did flash via Bootstrap so I'm not sure if that's the reason. Anyway, if you're using Bootstrap, amend scripting is the way to go.
Best,
K
yea tahts because teh edify scripting requires mounts, and since the kitchen is old and outdated it doesnt auto detect /system so you need to go in and add it properly as we arent a true mtd device
Ok well my rom is uploading if anyone feels like theming go ahead, the best theme will become default on all nonstock joker roms, and we really need our own cwm shabby

Things to do in a custom ROM

So i asked many people but didnt get much help but i finally figured out how to get system.img and boot.img and unpacked them too.
Now i want to ask, what are the things that a custom ROM should have? Things we should add or remove? will removing apk's and adding a few kernels be enough? How can i change the theme?

First, always new kernel.
Second, CM theming is easy. For the rest of the roms yiu can use apktool.
You should make two versions: lite and full.
Lite is stripped down full w/o GAPPS.
Supercharger and Turbocahrger scripts are nice. For the rest: google is your best friend!
Greets!
I remove all of the apps that draw alot of memory, mostly carrier crap(bloatware)then i add all of the free apps from the market that i use alot, then i go to UOT kitchen and set a theme for my new rom,i also use 7-zip and macromedia fireworks to customize the rosie, wallpapers, splash screen, boot animations, etc,i also add a few tweaks for the build.prop, you can also edit the text in the updater-script.Like the guy above said, google is your best friend.

[ROM] Stock MRA58R Full Gapps (Custom Stock Kernel) by Gerar_f Nov 21

This rom is built directly from the stock MRA58R Google image.
PSA
For pin to work you will need a permissive kernel, Rom is currently running enforcing so flash a permissive kernel if you want pin. No issues if your using cataclysm. I'm working on figuring out the fix thanks.
It is basically just the system folder extracted from the MRA58R Google update and repackaged as a flashable zip with a stock kernel with added features by @gerar_f.
I packaged this together for people that want a Stock Bloated Google experience. Or a fully stock rom to customize to the users liking.
Any mod made for the stock google rom should work 100% here.
Cataclysm mod is recommended if your looking for a more custom rom experience and I fully support flashing it over this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/orig-development/rom-cataclysm-nexus-6-t3219121
Cataclysm flashes a kernel so if you like the added features of gerar_f's kernel then you will want to flash it after cataclysm. Link below
Rom Features
Odexed
None really. This is as stock Google as it gets, you will find all the gapps that will possibly fit in the system partition just like a stock google image.
Root is not included. Flash SuperSu 2.5.2 if you want. You can run this rom un-rooted with cataclysm mod flashed over top and have a custom unrooted rom with working android pay.
(Theoretically) I haven't been able to test pay around me
Busybox is also not installed so grab that from the playstore if you want/need it.
Included Kernel by @gerar_f
Included kernel is Custom "Stock" v4 created by @gerar_f big thanks to him and go over to his thread and drop a like.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/kernel-stock-kernel-root-color-control-t3218958
Kernel is stock in behavior with a few features. First it is without forced encryption, It is Seandroid Enforcing and includes several features, Root with rw if rooted, Disabled boot verification warning, Color control, Headphone and mic gain control, Vibration control, Wake gestures, Multirom support.
TIPS
There is only 33mb free in the system partition due to google including so many gapps. In my testing ive found that this is enough for installing 1 layers theme and Cataclysm Mod.
Some gapps may need removed to install things like Xposed modules, and other apps to the system(TBO apps, better battery stats etc) or anything that takes up more than a few megs going into the system.
I personally remove Fit, Sheets, and Slides which gives you around 100mb free in system which is enough for my use. I recommend this app for removing system apps you dont want. Root Required.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp&hl=en
Thanks
@gerar_f for great custom stock kernel. (I couldn't even begin to figure out how to customize a kernel)
@tupac4u for the updater-binary and update-script to flash the zip properly. (my attempts at making the script were futile)
@atl4ntis for making Cataclysm and inspiring me to create a stock rom for said mod to be flashed over.

@magnamentis @dhruvmalik for testing. @Chainfire for ROOTS!

EDIT: please don't mind the kernel in this question

I'm planning on releasing more versions as Google releases it's monthly updates.
To answer your other question it's not as simple as just extracting the system.img but isnt too hard. Basically you extract the actual system.img from the Google update. Then use ext4 unpacker to unpack it into an ext4 file. Then you use ext2 explore to unpack the ext4 file which gives you the system folder with all the files within. Then just take the system folder a compatible boot.img and a working meta-inf folder and zip them up. Then you have your Rom.

Feel free to ask any other questions.
Yea that's very simple way to make a Rom. I wouldn't call myself a dev or anything. The other custom roms require a lot more work like modifying system apks to add the extra features. This is just full unmodified stock with a kernel. I figured it would be a great base to flash cataclysm over. Seeing how it's recommended to flash cataclysm over a full stock Rom this is as close as it gets right now. People have had luck flashing cataclysm over other stock modified roms but I worry that those modifications may cause issues with the modifications of cataclysm. With that said I'm personally running it without cataclysm. I just removed a few gapps I'll never use flashed and installed around 10 team blackout apps, and applied magpie midnight theme for a almost fully blacked out experience.

As stated above by others, I was also surprised that there wasn't a flashable stock ROM available, primarily for those who wish to be stock, use xposed and or mods like Cataclysm.
This is working awesome; thanks @GavinMazey
Great idea, I'll probably be checking it out soon with CatMod. Any chance you could debloat it? It's not hard for me to just use Tibu to do it, but one less thing to do is always nice. No worries if you can't.
Thanks for the rom!
Thank you for this!

I'm not really planning on debloating, there is a plethora debloated roms for the n6. But if enough end up wanting it I might. But if I do it would be my personal debloat instead of removing as much as possible. Keeping it stock let's me update faster when google drops new images.

+ 1 on NOT debloating. Every one could do it how they like it by themselves.
Thanks.. It's good to know I have an option to flash the zip. I might load up cataclysm tonight
This is great for those who want fresh out of box stock experience with working ANDROID PAY. Once you root it, trim it, customize it, then ANDROID PAY won't work.

Noted. That was my thought too stock bloated base for users to do what they want with it. I personally use most of the gapps included, I personally only delete sheets, slides, and fit (I may be a fatty lol). I've found most debloated roms remove too much so instead of having the gapps taking up system space I have to install them to internal storage taking up space where they don't need to be.
Too much free system space is wasted space imo.

If your already on android m you should be good to flash this then cataclysm. Report back how it went if you do. Haven't had too much feedback on users actually flashing it. Hopefully because all works great [emoji12]

That's exactly why I kept it unrooted. In theory someone could flash this Rom and then cataclysm without root and have a custom Rom with working Pay just no root. No where that I've been around me accepts pay so I am unable to test. But in theory it should work.

I am thinking about using multirom with this zip, cataclysm, and a lollipop rom.. Maybe kitkat too for one game that only works on kitkat lol

Flashing cataclysm will replace the included kernel with cataclysm kernel which you'll need to check supports multirom, I'm not sure off the top of my head. But if not re flashing the included kernel by gerar_f after cataclysm will give you multirom support. Also I'm not entirely sure you can run kitkat and marshmallow in multirom at the same time. I haven't used it myself but I think (I may be wrong) that multirom uses your main kernel for all other roms. So a different android version may not work properly. Again I might be wrong.
