What has happened so far...
Our first aim was to collect around €240 (~$312*) for a X10 Mini (E10i) or a X10 Mini Pro (U20i) device to send to a developer.
Bin4ry showed interest and agreed to try and help us figure out how to root the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro.
We have currently collected enough funds to buy a X10 Mini Pro and the device is currently on its way to Bin4ry.
If you still want to donate, please do so - the surplus will be sent to the developer(s) that are helping us getting root access on the X10 Mini/Mini Pro. Beer is always nice to buy for example!
Offer
Our offer to the developer is a new X10 Mini (E10i) or a X10 Mini Pro (U20i) device so that he/she can test and root the device or if he/she wants the donation in cash instead of a device would be fine too. If a device is bought, the remaining money of the donation will be given out to the developer(s) after the rooting is complete and presented on this forum as a guide how-to root your device.

2010-07-13: The thread/donation started.
2010-07-26: A Sony-Ericsson X10 Mini Pro has been bought and is on its way to Bin4ry.
2010-07-30: Bin4ry received the X10 Mini Pro.
2010-07-30: Rooting achieved on the X10 Mini (E10i) device and the X10 Mini Pro (U20i) device.
2010-07-31: The thread/donation closed and kept for historic reason.
How big is the donation at the moment?
$417 - $307.50* (€236.50) = $$109.50$$ - PayPals fee's = $99.40

As we got two different ways to root our X10 Mini/Mini Pro devices, its just fair that Bin4ry and Kabaldan shares the remaining donation funds. If you don't agree, PM me and we will discuss it there.

1. I will update this post from time to time with new information when I have the time.

Just to get rid of the blue statusbar and menus and uninstall unwanted apps , i think a stable root is worth 30€. If it has a custom recovery i'll gladly donate 20€ more.
So 50€ for a stable root with custom recovery.
Having said that, please all , don't harass the devs asking every 5 mins for root. If you take it easy and let them report when they have something to report, they will feel better about the work, and the risk of not getting any info at all (like for the X10 where the Devs left for a private forum).
Stay calm, the root will not be any faster just because you ask for it 100times/day...

I do not know how much the rooting process will differ from the E10i, but I will add you seperatly if that is ok?

Hi Guys! I have been sending PM's with NRGZ28, and he has kindly agreed that if he can get a TG01 (borrow, or buy him one) he will cook his legendary ENERGY ROMs for us!
Those who don't know him, he is one of the best XDA members who cooks fantastic ROM's for HTC Devices. He cooks Cookie, Senscity, Dinik, MAXsense etc ROMs for everyones likings! he also updates them all at least once every two weeks!
So i'm asking you users, that if you want energy roms, that we could organize to collect donations (£80 for a used TG01) for NRG,
OR
someone can lend him a TG01 so he can cook, ROM's for us!!

Nice one mate! i have pm'ed NRG, awaiting his reply. perhaps you could PM him too, offering your TG01 and ask him how long he will need it for, to cook us amazing Energy ROMs!

I am 98% getting a second hand tg01 from a friend in about week or 10 days time. i was originally use that one to play around with rom making and frying it myself and second one for daily use, but if NRG will fry it making roms, i think it's well worth it! Will update if I get one donated Good work Oly!! Sorry have run out of 5 thnx today, but will be visiting this thread again soon

Great to see the project going again.
Just to note, I'm infact not an adult and only 14, but hey, I'll make a donation when I can. I don't have easy access to internet credit, but I will try my best to make a donation.
A good idea would be to try to use my phone credit (Funny, eh?) because it's my easiest source of paying for things. I have around £50/Euros on my phone that I could happily donate a large chunk of, I just don't know if there is a way to do it. I know you can buy apps from samsung apps with credit.
If not, I will try to donate otherwise.

Just a suggestion. Once you create a paypal donation widget, it will be live wherever you link it, and thus you won't have to manually keep updating this thread. It will list the total amount donated, and also list the individual amounts from the various people who donated.

Hi, I'm not asking for an update or anything of that sort but just find the conversation in the first message a bit confusing:

I'm guessing that the 8500 is first priority and 8530 will be secondary. Can anyone confirm this correct?

Well, I've now picked up the next-gen Mini Pro (it was really cheap!) and I'm not using my old Mimmi anymore.
It's sad really. This is my first Android and I've learnt so much and the format in the year and a half since I got it. I've had a lot of phones over the years but this is easily one of my favourites.
That said, the 2011 Mini Pro has so much more POWER!!

when I was buying this phone from market my girlfriend told me that I am such an idiot who is buying a phone with android 2.1 in $200 and suggested me some phone like lg p500 and some from samsung and now as I have ics on my phone she wants my phone and oh my God I cant say her no and she is giving me her lg p500. .
I will really miss my little sweet mini but I will not miss you guys because I will not leave this forum as I have to update this phone for her time to time

Missing my damn keyboard i hate type on screen even i am using Swype keyboard and my girlfriend, you know when i gave my phone to her the gmail and fb were login (yah you can say i am an IDIOT) and than she changed all the passwords and security questions and now she is going to kill me. . .

I buy myself Xperia Neo and so happy - big screen, ARMv7, 1000Mhz and 512Mb RAM (with overclocking 1,6Ghz and 1Gb RAM) but I can't play games like DeadTrigger, ShadowGun and other because i still think that I have 725Mhz and 256Mb Ram

Yes, you are right, we own lovely little phone- X10 Mini & X10 Mini Pro!
We all love it, right? But many people are moving to new high end devices.
Due to that, our X10 Mini forum is getting less users, making our forum less active.
But we have to save & keep your forum alive and active.
We have to save it before it is too late or there will be not may users and our forum will be dead. (Sorry I was too excessive here)
We can save our forum by
-participating in development
-posting posts (No I don't just mean bumping posts with useless things)
-staying active with other members
-doing something for developers to make their project better
and much more we can do to save it...(tell me)
So, please participate on keeping the forum active by doing these.
(This is just my opinion. I hope you to participate)

I know what you might feel, but it's normal and I'm afraid that you can't do much. I'm using X8 and I want to move to another phone really soon, because, to use some less profane words, it's not so good as it was in 2010 / early 2011.

resently my X10MP has gotten better and better. my wife asked if i wanted the Xperia S for X-mas, but i said ''no no, i realy like my X10MP''. Now she will give me a stay at a wellness resort instead - good deal i think
I agree in the idear to get users active in dev and problem solving. So I ask of all to share all knowledge so it won't be lost.
I never claim ownershop to anything I come up with - i know some are very protective about their work, and i respect that - but to free the projects and urge others to improve apk, mods etc. will activate a lot of passive users...... I hope

Sadly my u20i's battery isn't healthy anymore. From full charge then, 8 hours later, with the phone turned off my battery is down to the yellow line. I wont be doing much with this mighty mini but it did serve me well. Maybe ill be using that for test, noh?

Oh that is sad... What ROM do you use?
My phone is fully functionaly, i bought a sony tab, so i dont want a new phone this phone (u20) is perfect and i love it i'll never sell or change it regards dudes

I am also game to kick in so long as the result is applicable to the Edge as well.
It will be very hard im sure.. samsung is trying to be the new blackberry in terms of security.. any exploit thats ever been used and patched, they learn from.. even if its just randomizing files and hiding them in different paritions or folders.. each patch carries forward, eventually it will be unbreakable security

Yeah, Sony bragged about their security on the ps3 being unbreachable, and then geohot happened. That's not to say that at&t and Knox security is a joke. I think devs would probably rather mess with different high end devices that are easier to root and build recoveries and roms for. Just my opinion. This is just a guess though, man. I wish that geohot would make headlines again with this one, but I highly doubt he cares enough, as busy as he is these days.

I am sure the T-Mobile people are really pissed because I recently found out that they too have locked down the BL and their older Samsung phones were never locked down.
Will probably have to get a 935-F if one wants an unlocked one of these phones, for now anyway. $680 seems to be the cheaper price on Ebay currently, but they all say no warranty in the USA. They are already working on a Renovate Rom for that phone and will be releasing Beta 2, which is still mostly rooted stock, but then they are going to try to mod it.
Got a rooted G900A that i will own in June, which they never ever rooted that when it got to Lollipop. Of course it is almost 2 years old now. 6.x will be out for the phone hopefully in April. Might try that if I can keep the BL at OA1 in case I want to go back. What to do??? :laugh:

I have a sneaky suspicion that the ATT & Tmobile S7 & S7 Edge will end up just like the
Verizon - ATT Note 5 and S6 Edge/Edge+ phones and will NEVER have root. LOL
I would strongly advice & suggest NOT to get rid of your existing rooted phones yet!!!

Please feel free to read my rant pertaining to root and at&t. I have a note 4 which had so much potential, but it was suffocated by all the bloatware. It is now soft bricked with RL issue, but I have the new s7, and after new wears off we are going to be right back where we were with the note 4. (bounty still unclaimed. But if this is the new way of rooting then we'll just have to figure it out because someone will break it, it just takes time although don't hold your breath, you might suffocate.

Best we can do is work towards root. If we don't get it, we don't. I like the phone so far and.... Not missing root terribly. Can't believe I said that. Just can't transfer app data over... Most apps store data in cloud now it seems.
Worse case I miss root too much and go back to my Xperia or get a One Plus v3.
